Low output volume

So when I have my iphone plugged into the computer the output is good and loud for plugging into a stereo.
However when its not plugged in then it is very very quiet. Is there a way to make the volume loud all the time? I'm not wild about cranking my stereo up then forgetting its so loud and changing devices and having it blast me out of the room.....

have you checked the iPhone volume level to make sure it's up? have you tried playing with the volume controls while it's plugged into the stereo? i have seen that the iPhone saves the last volume level for the device you were using, so it will keep 1 set of volume levels for the headphones, another for a different set of headphones, and then another for the on board speaker.

  • Linked media in interactive PDF has low output volume

The link FV4 video in my exported interactive PDF produced in InDesign is practically inaudiable. The the audio in the stand alone quicktime video is fine.
How can I increase the volume output in the interactived PDF?
    Thanks!

There are no controls either in InDesign or in Acrobat Pro to change the volume associated with a video file.
I've made many interactive PDF files from InDesign and the volume playing from the PDF is always exactly the same as when I previewed it in the Media panel in InDesign.
Open up the Media panel in InDesign (Window > Interactive > Media) and preview the video there. I'd bet that it previews the same as when you play the PDF file.
There must be something that was done in QuickTime to change the audio.

  • DDTS-100 low output

Can Creative help me on why I have a low output (volume near to max for both ) from my Altec Lansing 505R speakers connected to my PS2, Xbox n DVD(optical), Creative soundcard Audigy(coaxial) and TV, Creative soundcard Audigy(stereo) but when I connect stereo direct(stereo input) to my speakers with volume set mid, the speakers output is way louder n better. Is there something wrong with my DDTS-100? Adjusting the center, rear and subwoofer didn't make any difference for my output. Anybody have any comments on this. Thinking of sending it down to the Creative service centre for a check if there is no solution for this. Hope Creative can advise on this.

I guess I should have done my homework before posting! I went to dolby.com and found that prologic II does not support the subwoofer output.. I guess this is for older systems that don't have one. It would have been nice if creative could have enabled the sub out though.. but it probobly is against dolby's rules. The good news is that all of my speakers are large, full range ones anyways. (the new dolby prologic IIx does support the subwoofer out, but the DDTS-00 doesn't support prologic IIx, go figure) Overall the unit seems like it will work ok for me... Oh, by the way, I plan on using it as the input for an older McIntosh tuner/pre-amp in my home theater, no computer or powered speakers involved. It has a 6 channel input, but no dolby digital decoder.. I hope it works for that, seems like it should. I just need the mini plug to RCA adapters, right?
    Thanks, Ron

  • Low sound/volume output

After applying the updates (iTunes(6.02) & OS X (10.4.4)) the volume on my iMac seems to be a lot lower than it was before. I now have to turn the volume up more than half way to get the same output I used to get when the volume was only turned up a quarter of the way.
Has anyone got any ideas please???
Things I have checked/tried so far:
    * Reset PRAM
    * Checked output volume in applications (mainly iTunes - also turned off sound check which is working by increasing the volume but that doesn't help because it was on before all the updates and the volume was louder)
    * I'm running my own speakers via the headphones socket, checked the connection which is fine
    * Checked the volume on the external speakers which has always been near Max
    * As a last resort I have tried repairing permissions etc but the volume is still LOW
    Really appreciate any input.
    Thanks

I think it adjusts the sound with the 10.4.4 update, mine did the same thing and just tonight I found the problem. Go to System Preferences -> Sound -> Output Volume at the very bottom, mine was turned all the way down. Check it and see if yours is down as well.

  • Low headphone output volume

Hey guys, wondering if anyone can help me with this issue. I got my Z30 several months ago now and have been really enjoying it. Love the device, love the OS, definitely sticking with BlackBerry for the forseeable future. However I've had one particular problem ever since I got the phone, and it's that the headphone output volume is just too low compared to my past devices. Even when set to maximum volume it's just not enough to power my headphones, whilst I can listen to them without issue with my iPhone 4, Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Note 2. After looking around online I've seen people mention that in the "Main Volume" settings screen there's supposed to be an option to boost headphone volume. However, this does not appear at all on my device. OS version is 10.3.1.2582. Device was purchased, and is used in, the UK. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can solve this issue, or is this just an inherent limitation that I'm stuck with?

Settings - Main Volume - Adjust media volume and the volume of your applications - is the slider set to maximum ?.Also turn on 'Always Adjust Media Volume'.

  • Audigy 2 ZS + Vista 64bit resolves in very low maximum volume out

    Hi,
I did just install Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Edition on my computer.
I've got a CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card, and I downloaded and installed the drivers for it.
I did not run into any complications while installing the driver, but after the driver was successfully installed and I rebooted my computer the first thing that hit me was the fact that the volume output was VERY LOW.
I have to boost my volume to the maximum to even be able to hear my music and games at a decent volume level. The maximum volume output seems to have been reduced with at least 50% compared to what I had with Windows XP Professional.
I've tried to configure every sound settings I can find, but without any luck.
The sound card is completely useless with this low maximum volume output, when I can barley hear my music or in-game sound.
    Is this a common problem?
    Have do I solve it's
I need at least 10% increase in the sound volume, otherwise the sound card is pointless.

Yes I did, I've checked everywhere I can possibly think of. Have boosted everything to the max, but still it's way to low

  • Output Volume for recording

I'm having trouble getting enough volume in headphones while recording. I have the output volume on my interface (M-Audio Fasttrack pro) all the way up, but when I adjust the mix on the interface to hear a good mix of both recorded tracks, and what is being recorded, the volume is too low to hear anything. The outputs on Logic are set as high as possible without clipping. I've even tried a separate headphone amp and its not enough. Its not like I'm hard of hearing, either... :. any suggestions?

You need a dedicated mixing console to blend the incoming overdubs with Logic's playback.
What model? What price? You decide this.

  • Low output from idt codec

new h8-1360T w/win 7, low output from idt codec, adjust level to max and barely have one green bar, adjust through beats and same, no change, cannot record.   Is it a Beats problem?   help

If you have opened the Beats Control panel (right click on Beats on the TaskBar) and checked the Beats "Master Volume" to make sure it is not "off" or turned down all the way...
    then
the issue may be a driver problem.
Two ways to try and deal with the Driver Issue (if that is what this is):
    Method One:
Use the Recovery Manager to Reinstall your original IDT Audio Driver.  The procedure is below:
Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)
    Reboot and check...
    =====================================================================================
Alternatively, if that does not seem to help, you can try the Driver version in your computer's website.  This method is a bit more complicated, but it has the added advantage of "resetting" things in a way that the previous methiod does not attempt.
Note that the version of the IDT may be critical for your setup for some reason.  This is why it is necessary to try the first method before jumping to this second method.  The version of the IDT Audio in your Recovery Manager is the "original" version and it may be the one that makes your computer happy.  You can always update if things go well and you want to experiment.
    Method Two:
Download and save this file to your Downloads folder on your computer:
sp57492 IDT High Definition Audio Driver
    Next:
Control Panel > icon view > open Programs and Features > right click on IDT Audio > Select Uninstall
Reboot the computer, and log in
    Open the Downloads folder,
Right Click on the downloaded sp57492 installation package > "run as Administrator" > and start the installation
Complete the installation, following any instructions
Open the Speaker Icon (in Taskbar) > Playback Devices > Speakers and Headphones > Select "Set Default"
    Check the sound levels...
Now, there are a variety of settings and such that ARE a part of the Beats setup, but the basics have to work before the Beats even enters into the equation.
    ====================================================================================
    Finally:
It could be something that you can "fix" by setting:
Sound icon > Playback Devices > "Ehancements" > CHECK Loudness and Equalization > OK
I personally dislike this workaround.  It is not a solution.  It is a bandaid.  Nonetheless,  when all else fails... IF the enhancements setting is avialble (Windows 7), then it does work for folks...
    ====================================================================================
    I hope this helps.
    Kind Regards,

  • IMac audio output volume

got a 21.5 iMac late 2009 and noticed a huge difference in volume:
-from headphone output sound at minimum is almost harmful and definitely too loud at mid position( I'm using same cheap headset as before )
-from built-in iMac speakers volume looks normal (louder than with my g4 iMac, but never too loud).
Tried with sound prefs but the difference remains.
Is this normal ? I mean, in the new iMac the headphone output is (too) much better or there is a way to fix at the same level the two outputs ? or do I simply have a very Low volume from iMac speakers?(using headphones is now really fatiguing)

Mac OS X and the iMac are keeping two separate sound output volume settings. So the volume setting for the built-in speakers is saved separately from the volume setting for the headphones.
Just connect the headphones and set the volume as desired. Then, disconnect the headphones and set the volume of the built-in speakers as desired. When you connect the headphones, the volume will go back to whatever it was set at before, when you had the headphones connected. When you disconnect the headphones, the volume setting will go back to the previous setting for built-in speakers.
If the above does not work as I described, try resetting PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    Then, try it again.

  • OUTPUT volume resets to high after reboot

I turn the OUTPUT volume down then shut the computer off but when I boot it up the OUTPUT volume is hi again. I have reset pram, repaired permissions and still the same.
Must be a pref bad somewhere.
There are no stuck keys on the keyboard

It may be a bug, but it obviously does not affect everyone. It does not happen on my older Intel iMac. And there is a +Early 2009+ Mac mini in the house, 2.0 GHz (same as and in Dah•veed's profile); it does not happen on it either.
When you did the test of setting volume low (or muted) with external speakers disconnected, and restarting with the external speakers disconnected, was the startup sound from the built-in speakers low (or muted), or was it already reset and loud. This will better determine when the volume reset takes place. If it's already loud, then it takes place during the previous logoff and actions that take place before restarting (or shutting down), or during the initial few seconds of startup (before the startup sound). If it's still low (or muted), then the sound volume reset takes place at some point after the startup sound, but before startup completes.
As another test, if you set the volume low, then log out and log back in (instead of restarting), does the volume stay low or does it get reset to the higher volume.
And as one more test, create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. Go to System Preferences Accounts pane and set it for +Automatic login+ (If you don't use automatic login normally, then you don't need to set it). Now try doing the same test, except from this account instead of your normal account. Is there any difference in the volume setting being retained?

  • Totally new to this. Audio problems with device and output volume.

Hi, I just purchased Logic Express and Im having trouble with the levels. Im going through an Alesis USB mixer. The problem is, right when I press the record button on a track I start getting a very high hiss and an over distorted sound with my guitar. I played around with the levels a bit and it seems that when I go to the computers audio setting and lower the output volume it goes away. I dont understand why output would effect what Im recording. I don't want to have to lower the outpt volume because then I wont be able to hear the track i just recorded when Im recording on another. If anyone knows what is actually going on and how to solve this problem, any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi, missiontorock.
Could this be a "through-feedback" kind of problem? I don't get any kind of distortion or hiss running through my Edirol M100-FX USB mixer.
Depending on how the Alesis is configured, you might be feeding the same signal from the mixer to the computer, getting that signal back from the computer, and then sending it on to the computer again. This is particularly likely since you report that the problem goes away when you lower the output volume from the computer.
You might look for a 'mixdown' switch on your mixer.
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • MuVo2 low output po

    Hi!
I have a MuVo2 ,5 GB player, and I have a problem. I read an review on the Internet about my player, and they wrote that the MuVo2 player has one of the greatest output power. The guy who tetsed it, wrote that when you have the full volume (with the same headphones that I have) it's very hight, and I mean very high volume. On my player, the full volume is not high at all, so with some headphones the volume is high enought.
On Creatives homepage, you could read that the output power is 2 x 5 mW, and this is the same as it is on my brothers player (it's not a Creative), but his player can play much louder than my could, and the diffrence it's big.
A friend of mine, has I Creative Zen Micro, and this player should have the same output power as the MuVo2 ,5 GB. But also here, it's a big diffrence.
So, it had to be somthing wrong with my mp3-player. Anybody who has this problem?
    /Johnny R.

The MuVo? series has an OK output as far as volume goes, but it is far from being the highest output of any mp3 player. If your volume though is decidedly low, then you could have European firmware which has a volume limitation. Under Settings | Information you can see your firmware revision. If it has an E on the end then it is the lower output firmware.
Visit www.nomadworld.com | downloads section and download and install the latest Non European firmware for your MuVo?.5.
If that is not the case, your headphones could be a high impedance which will lower the volume, or you could have a problem. Try the firmware check first though!

  • Very low sound volume on Portege R500

The sound volume on my R500 (R500-11c to be exact) is ridiculously low. Only with volume maxed out (100) and using headphones do I hear anything at all, and even then it's way too low to be useful. I can just make out the test sounds in the left and then right earphone when using the test sound found at Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers (there are no Headphones to be selected) -> Properties -> Advanced -> Test. Unplugging the headphones I hear nothing from the speakers, due to the (very low) sounds made by the fan and HDD. Playing music (with headphones) I can just make out that sounds are being produced, but I can't even make out what is playing.
I've tested the things mentioned in the "Satellite 5105-S901 Sound is very low (even on max volume) using supplied Toshiba driver" thread with no success (including Loudness Equalization).
I'm running Vista Business 32bit, and have tried the driver_audio_realtek26117B.exe, driver_audio_realtek_TC00157600B.exe, and Vista_Win7_R243_x86.exe driver files, and also used the util_mute_off_25847B.exe utility.
Enabling mute makes the already faint sounds go completely silent, so I don't think it's a mute issue.
Jack detection does work, I can see that in the Realtek HD Audio Manager program. Using that program's sound test (Speaker Configuration) I have to go to a completely silent room, and even then I only hear something in the right earphone. (I think; it's so darn low I could be imagining I hear it.)
Decreasing the sound volume slider from 100 does make the almost inaudible sound even harder to even notice, and at around 45 it is no longer audible even in a quiet room with headphones.
So it seems that I somehow need to reset the audio chip to "normal" level. Or it is broken and can't output anything more audible.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try next? I can boot to XP or Linux if anyone has any ideas on how to get sound there, just to get started. (They're silent as well, I haven't done as extensive testing under those as under Vista.)

    Hello, and thanks for answering.
Yes, I have tried increasing the volume in control panel -> Realtek HD audio manager. No success.
I have used a bunch of different drivers, both from toshiba's website and realtek's.
Recently did a fresh XP install on another hard drive (don't have Vista install media), tried both 5.10.0.5869 and 5.10.0.6066 drivers (5.10.0.6066 is from march 13, 2010), sound still as low no matter what I do.
Did the really desperate thing: bought a new (used) sound module on ebay ("Toshiba Portege R500 (PPR50E-00L048EN) USB jack" on ebay.co.uk), but it has the same problem as the original one.
A hardware problem... well maybe, I was thinking perhaps the sound module doesn't get enough power from the motherboard, but since there is some sound (although very low), the USB jack on the module works, the headphone/mic jack detection works, and the diagnostics found in the Control Panel all say that the device is working OK, I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I'm guessing there is a problem with the drivers initializing the sound to a ridiculously low setting, and increasing the volume level to 100 makes it go up to a level equal to perhaps 2 in a regular system. That should be solved by a fresh install, but it isn't.
Perhaps the BIOS messes up the sound? But re-flashing the BIOS doesn't help...
    Anyone got any other ideas?
I've googled and found people having problems with low sound volume on other laptops using the ALC262 chip, but no general solution.

  • Drum loops are too low in volume vs guitars when overdubbing

After 8 hrs of learning Logic Express 9. I can't record the guitars "hot" because the Apple drum loops are too low in volume. I max them out with extra gain. I even duplicate them so I have two tracks. How can I get the drum loop volume up. I've tried everything I can think of to push it as loud as it will get. I've tried normalizing. I am assuming the quality of the guitar recording is related to how "hot" it's recorded or at least you shouldn't have to turn it down to about 20% when I overdub. I've got an M-Audio solo. Thanks.

    Hi
Have you tried monitoring the guitars at a lower lever? You can still record them hot, but listen at a lower level.
    From my LE8 manual...
    Setting the Monitoring Level
If the Independent Monitoring Level (for Record Enabled Channel Strips) preference in
the Logic Express > Preferences > Audio > Devices > Core Audio tab is enabled, an
independent monitoring level is available when an audio channel is record enabled.
After arming the track, set the fader to the desired level. The original playback level will
be restored when the channel’s Record button is disabled.
Important: The Level fader only controls the playback (or monitoring) level, not the
recording level, when a track is record enabled. Recording levels must be set
externally—on your mixer, or at the original sound source. Care must be taken when
setting input levels, as digital audio will clip when overloaded. Clipping results in a
particularly harsh, metallic distortion, so unless you have a penchant for heavier
musical styles, overloading the inputs isn’t recommended (see “Understanding the Clip
    Detector”
    Cheers
