Low printer with lomg processing times ; network issues

Hello,
We are running ECC6 on HP-UX 11.23/Oracle 10.2
We have configured all our printers ( more than 300) using the host spool access method L : Print Locally using LP/LPR.
Every day, we have the same printers with the sames "low printers" :
sm21 syslog shows ;
Printer WRAL Temporarily Locked Due to Connection Problem
Spool Process logs indicates ;
Fri Feb 17 11:09:37 2012
Warning: lpq on printer WRAL took 16 seconds!
  RSPOSYSLOG:
SYSLOG written: CODE FBL, locat 28, param WRAL&16&
There are several notes that indicate how to deactivate the printer pooling, but still, the best thing to do is to pinpoint the
root cause of the issue, .....which we haven't
I checked the spool distribution times in transaction STAD, I have unusuallyhigh "processing times" values.
But I can't underdstand it.
Is it a network processing time ?
Our network team tell us that there is nothing abnormal, but is there a way to check from SAP , any netwok issue with the printers ?
Thanks

Hi,
For log "Printer WRAL Temporarily Locked Due to Connection Problem", it means
that for a period of xxx seconds (parameter rspo/lpq/temp_disable_time) no query or printing from sap for this printer are done anymore.
This has no influence on the printout from any other application. The only effect is that the printer is 'disabled' within sap.
The idea behind this concept is to prevent that a slow query can slow down the overall print performance of one server. During the query the spool wp cannot do anything else. In this time no printout to any printer from this server can be done.
It would seem that the problem is outside of the R/3 system and is at UNIX or printer level. Perhaps you had a temporary Network or printer problem. You can test by executing the lpstat query to this printer at OS level.
You can find out the exact lpstat query that your system uses, by looking at the system parameters 'rspo/host_spool/query'.
The parameter &P in the command will be substituted by the host device name.
If everything is correct in your unix spooler then it is very likely that the printer is not working correctly, so the unix spooler can't send print jobs to this printer, Therefore SAP blocks this printer for a certain time trying not to overload the unix spool queue.
You might want to temporarily turn off the query but if there is a problem with a specific printer or OS problem, this
will not be reported back to R/3.
Some SAP notes:
385794 - Connection problems with network access methods
20924  - Parameter settings for remote printing

has anyone with sprint had time/date issues as well as imessage function automatically turn itself off?

Im having the same problem, I updated my Iphone 4S to 6.1.3, shortly after that my phone had no audio. It was working fine one minute and then stopped. Was listening to music when sound gave out on me. It wont ring, phone just vibrates even after turning off vibration option. I've tried all the options listed and nothing. My phone has never been jailbroken either. If I connect the earphones is works perfectly. On one of my last calls received, phone's ringtone was heard for about 2 seconds before muting and just vibrating. Ringtone sounded perfect, speakers did not sound damaged.
What else could be done? I've read several post regarding this and it seems like Apple has no solution to this yet. Very dissappointed.

  • Cannot print with hp 2600n through network

I installed Leopard on my two month old Imac(latest model) with no real glitches and thought all was fine until I tried printing with my HP color laserjet 2600n through my network.
I get my network showing up as guest sharing(not logging me in under my name) and even though I could print fine with Tiger, I cannot print with Leopard. The request shows up in the print queue but does not print.
Any advice would be appreciated. I was never prompted before for a password everytime I printed and was always logged in to my network and not a guest sharing before. I know I'm missing something here but everything else transferred over fine from Tiger but the printer is a mystery.
    Thank you for any help,

  • How to configure network printer with Linksys WRT54GL router network

I just bought a Linksys WRT54GL router and I am planning to build the following home-network around it:
    1. A desktop computer connected to router via ethernet cable (hard-wired).
    2. An HP Network Printer (Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP) connected to router via ethernet cable (hard-wired).
    3. A notebook connected to router via Wi-Fi.
I want both computers (desktop and notebook) to be able to share files, and also to share the same network printer.
    a. How do I do this?
    b. Do I need to install the printer drivers in both computers as if the printer was local for each one?
    c. What settings do I need to include in the Linksys router settings (and also the printer settings) to allow all this? I've read on the internet about DHCP configs, IP address, etc. but I hardly understand anything.
A step-by-step ("for dummies") explanation will be extremely appreciated.

You will need to install the printer driver on each computer that will be using the printer.  You will need to have a printer driver that is designed to be used on a network.   Many of HP's drivers (but not all of them) can be used for either a USB or a network connection.
Usually, when you use HP's printer installation software, it will walk you through the printer installation procedure, and install the printer drivers.  This software is normally located on a CD that came with the printer.  Some installation software demands that you setup a USB connection first, then switch to a network connection.  Other installation software might install a network connection directly.  Just follow the HP directions.
There are no special settings in the router.  Simply wire (using an ethernet cable) your printer to a LAN port on the router, when the installation software (or instructions) tells you to do so.
Your printer will likely get a different LAN IP address (192.168.1.x )  from time to time.  Some printer drivers can handle this and still work properly.  Other printer drivers get confused, and cannot find your printer when it changes addresses.  If your driver has this problem, then you will need to assign your printer a fixed LAN IP address.  This will force the printer to have the same LAN IP address each time you boot up your network.   If you need to do this, you will need to enter the LAN IP address directly into your printer (Sometimes this is done using the printer's buttons and display panel, and sometimes this is done using HP printer software).  Note that any fixed LAN IP address must be outside your DHCP server range (defaults are 192.168.1.100  thru  192.168.1.149 ) , and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255.  If you need to use a fixed LAN IP address, I would suggest you use 192.168.1.13 , which should be easy to remember by looking at the model number of your printer.   If you need to use a fixed LAN IP address, you will also need to enter the Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 , and DNS Server 192.168.1.1 , into your printer.   If you use a fixed LAN IP address in the printer, you do not need to change any settings in the router.  The router will automatically find your printer when you turn your printer on.   Even if your printer is using a fixed LAN IP address, your computers can continue to get their address automatically from the router's DHCP server.

  • Printing with iphone and time capsule router

I have an iphone 4 and a Time Capsule with router. I have my HP 8500 wireless printer plugged into time capsule. iphone says that it cannot find airprint printers.

Time Capsule is a combination wireless router and wireless hard drive for access to the internet via wi-fi with connected computers and with your iPhone, and for backing up connected Macs wirelessly via Time Machine.

  • How to setup a printer with Airport Extreme + Express Network

Ok so here's how things are setup. I have an Extreme connected to my cable modem creating the wireless network. I have a PC that doesn't have a wireless card, so I setup an Express next to it. The Express takes in the wireless signal, and the PC is connected to the Express through ethernet and has a successful connection. Next I want to connect my printer to the USB port of the Express and share it over the network. It doesn't work plug and play. From the Airport utility, the express recognizes the printer, however, the computers on the network do not see it. Can this be set up to work? If so, what am I missing?
    Thanks

If you are on PC's, you will need to download the bonjour for windows.

  • C240 M3 with VIC 1225 VMware network issue

Just got my hands on a few C240 M3′s with the VIC 1225 adapter and began setting them up as a VMware 5.1 U1 cluster. I’ve configured 8 vNICs per host: 2 for Management, 2 for VMotion, 2 for iSCSI, and 2 for VM traffic. Each pair of vNICs has one pinned to uplink 0 and the other to uplink 1. vNICs are set to trunk mode in the VIC since I am tagging multiple VLANs from VMware. The hosts are physically connected to a stacked pair of Cisco 4500-X switches; physical uplink 0 to one switch, uplink 1 to the other switch. Switch ports are trunked to allow the VLANs we plan to use. Portfast is enabled. VMware vSwitches using Source Port ID for Load Balancing and the vNICs are active/active for Management and VM traffic. No port channel or Etherchannel is configured on the swtiches.
After creating a VM for vCenter and joining the hosts to it, I started migrating existing VMs from an old cluster and saw odd network behavior. It seems whenever a VM or vmkernel interface are on any vNIC pinned to the same physical uplink on the same host, they can’t talk to each other.
Example: VM1 and VM2 are on host 1. VM1′s network adapter is pinned to vNIC1 using VLAN 10 which uses physical uplink 0. VM2′s network adapter is pinned to vNIC2 using VLAN 10 which uses physical uplink 1. VM1 and VM2 can ping each other. If I move VM2′s network adapter to any vNIC that uses physical uplink 0, just like VM1, then VM1 and VM2 can no longer ping each other. Or if host 1′s management IP is pinned to vNIC 1 on physical uplink 0, any VM on host 1 using a vNIC also pinned to physical uplink 0 cannot ping the host.
Anyone have any ideas?  Is something configured incorrectly on the switch?  On the VIC?
    Thanks!

    Hello Michael,
I assume VIC is operating Classical Ethernet ( CE ) mode and VM1 and VM2 are in different vswitchs for the non-working scenario, ( where there vNICs used by vSwitch are pinned to physical uplink ) .
If this is the scenario, the frames have to be switched upstream switch and needs to be forwarded back on the same switch interface. Any IEEE standards based switch will not forward such traffic flow.
You might want to take advantage of Adapter-FEX or adapt changes to design to accommodate such traffic flows.

  • Can anyone help with a method to ignore GR Processing Time during STO Creation?

On my current client, we have a unique business scenario where we need to maintain GR processing time to reflect "incubation or hold" time for products after production. It is absolutely necessary that the products should not be available to ship to the customers until this "incubation or hold" time is elapsed and the products are inspected & ready for customer shipments. However, the products can be shipped to other DCs within the client's internal network while the products are under "incubation" as it can take place while the products are in-transit. Therefore, the products are available for shipping immediately after production within the client's internal network of DCs. This is why we need a mechanism to ignore the GR processing time while the products are shipped on STOs within the network. At the same time the GR processing time should be considered while the products are shipped against customer SOs outside the network.
To explain the scenario a bit further, this is a simple scenario: Factory A --> DC1 --> DC2. Factory A produces products to be stored and DC1, which ships to its own customers as well as to DC2 to fulfil customer demand at DC2. "Incubation" time of products is performed in DC1. Therefore, Sales Orders at DC1 should not be able to ship until this "incubation" time has elapsed at DC1. This can be accomplished by maintaining GR processing time equal to "incubation or hold" time at DC1 and it works well for Sales Order and its Delivery ATP check. On the other hand, STOs from DC1 to DC2 can ship immediately after production while the product is still under "incubation" as the required hold time can elapse while the products are in-transit between DC1 and DC2. Therefore, STO & its Delivery ATP check should consider production from factory A to be immediately available after production. Note that the incoming production from factory A is represented by an STR between factory A and DC1. Per my research this functionality is not available in standard SAP as GR processing time is considered in ATP check for both SOs and STOs. However, if anyone knows of a way to separate out ATP check for SOs and STOs where SO considers GR processing time while STO does not then that would greatly help.
    Appreciate any suggestions or solutions.

    Jagjeet.

  • Cannot print with HP Laserjet 1022 when connected with USB to Time Capsule

    Installed HP drivers
Connected HP 1022 (not the network printer) with USB to Time Capsule
Printer appears in "Standard" section of printers, marked with Bonjour
    Correct driver is selected
When printing, printer appears to be connected. Printer queue shows the item being managed and no errors are posted. After a rather long time, the print disappears into the void. This goes for the test page too.
Connected the printer directly to my iMac with USB, no problems at all.
I would prefer to have it connected to the Time Capsule though...
    Bjarne Havnen

Getting it to work with Windows is super-easy. You'll need to install the printer's drivers and Bonjour for Windows ( http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/windows/bonjourforwindows.html ). Install both of those, open Bonjour, select the printer, done.
I have no experience with Linux, sorry.

  • BPM Concern: Total message processing time too large

    Hello Experts,
I have implemented a BPM scenario with a fork step. MDM is the sender system and ECC is the final reciever system.
Branch 1 of Fork step: Processes Message type 1(DEBMAS); includes transformation step(ABAP mapping) and Send step (RFc call to ECC)
Branch 2 of Fork step:  Processes Message type 2(ADRMAS); includes transformation step(ABAP mapping) and Send step (RFc call to ECC)
the messages are proccessed as required but the only concern is the total time reuired for the final message to be posted to ECC system. This scenario using the above design takes more thean 5 mins to post the message to ECC; which the end user will not accept.
Is this due to the parallel processing using fork step? Is there any alternative method of implementing this with minimum processing time?
    Thanks in advance,
    Elizabeth.

    Hi Ninad,
Begore the ABAP mapping step, there is a send step (sends DEBMAS/ADRMAS to ECC).
ABAP mapping reads the message Id generated for the above message  and the retrieves the PI IDoc number and its details from PI SXMB_MONI backend tables. This is then required to be given as input to Send step (RFC call to ECC to get ECC IDoc acknowledgment based on PI IDOC number).

  • Processing Time Log PI 7.1

    Hi,
Where do we see step-by-step processing time logs taken by PI (PI 7.1) right from the Sender to the Receiver.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kris

you cant get this information in the Communication channel monitoring for example. there you will see the time that the outbound  message reach to PI and the time when the inbound message was sent to target system.
you can also enrich this information with the processing time in SXI_MONITOR toi check how much time does the server take to execute the pipelines.
also youcan refer in RWB to performance tab and get information about the execution of this escenario in a range of time.

  • GR processing time and transportation time

    Hi,
We buy all of our material at the suppliers dock. This means that we own the material as soon as we pick it up for transportation to our plant. To accommodate this we have included the transportation time in the GR-processing time field for each material. However, the trouble with GR-processing time is that it uses our factory calendar (which have non-working days at holidays, weekends and vacations) in planning the lead times. The transportation times calculated by the system are thus longer than the actual transportation time during certain periods which means that we are receiving material before we need it and tie up a lot of money in stock.
Is there anyway to have the transportation time calculated on calendar days (i.e. all days are considered to be working days) and still be able to see the date when the goods should be picked up at the supplier in MD04 without changing the factory calendar? I’ve read in an earlier post that the use of routes (transaction 0VTC) could be a possible solution. We use routes for shipping, but can they be used for procurement as well?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I would consider changing the factory calendar to achieve this but ONLY if you don't mind POs being raised for delivery dates when you are closed (which does not bother some people because the delivery dates are not always seen as being entirely accurate).
But there is no way to make the GRP time use anything other than the factory calendar days. The planned delivery period is normal calendar days but this does not affect the availability date.
Do you actually need a GRP time? Could 0 not be used, after all it does seem that the transport time would be the same each time and so you would know that you pick the items up X days earlier than the date suggested?
I know that none of these suggestions are likely to be much use to you but I can see no simple way of achieving this.

    Hi Prasobh,
I looked at the note 101262 and it seems that it is suggesting us to create a new Z report by copying existing report and then modify the WRITE Bloack in new report to display GR Time and Del. Time.
Is my understanding correct? If yes can you share with me the steps in some more details then mentioned in note 101262 that I need to follow for addressing this requirement.
If no can you suggest any solution that you know by which it is possible to include GR Time and Del. Time in CS11 output without Z development.

  • GR Processing time using MRP areas

    Hi Experts,
I have setup where the same materials is purhcased but planned indemendent using MRP areas. There is a requirement to maintain a different GR Processing time to the material depending on the MRP area. I am only able to maintain the GR processing time on the "general material master" and not in the MRP areas.
Please give me input on how to solve this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I have
    1) created a MRP Profile with GP processing time 1.
    2) on MRP 2 left the GR processing time blank =0
    3) Assigned a MRP are to the material with reference to the MRP profile
= GR processing time updated in MRP2 view
