Low Quality Capturing Video

Hi
I'm having some problems with the quality of the captured video obtained using JMF.
I'm capturing and previewing video from a color camera (not saving it to disk) and some noise patterns are showing up. When I took a snapshot the noise is still there.
Doing the same thing (capture and preview with the same camera) using a DirectShow sample app, the resulting video is as good as the camera allows, almost as I'm connecting the camera to a monitor without going troght the computer.
Someone already have this kind of problem? Is a limitation of JMF?
Just for curiosity, the most noticeable noise patterns that I identified are a kind of salt'n pepper and some blurred vertical lines at regular intervals.
Thanks,
RGB

I guess that's not the problem, but I'll try to change some resolution and color parameters.
If you want, I can send you some snapshots samples by e-mail.
Thanks,
RGB

  • Low Quality Youtube video

I purchased my Blackberry storm on the release date and the first thing I did was go to youtube and see how the videos looked. The answer is... terrible, and the audio is pretty bad too. I have downloaded all the updates for my Storm and the youtube videos still look just as bad. However, whenever I play videos from my media card the quality is amazing. So basically I have two questions.
    1. Does everyone experience this low quality issue or is there something wrong with my blackberry/internet connection?
    2. Is there anyway to fix it, or plans to release an update in the future to do so?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well I've the same problem but when I surfed the internet I found that I must clear the browser cache then reboot the device
Try it ... I didn't work on my blackberry curve 9320 .... it may work on you
    Hope this helped

  • 2009 Macbook to HDMI: Low quality/blurry video

I have a Macbook Pro from mid-2009, Apple's Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter, and a VGA Adapter to HDMI cable. My computer connects to the HDMI input on my TV just fine, but when I try to show a video that has been downloaded to my computer on the other display, the resolution of the video is good, but the video is not clear- the frames don't change quickly enough, even though it is set at 60 HZ. Will downloading Mountain Lion fix the solution? Or is my computer just too old? I've tried the same cables with my friend's 2011 or 2012 Macbook Air and the video on the display is seamless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Low quality Youtube-videos in Safari

Since the introduction of iOS 7 the quality of YT-videos which are embedded in a website I'm viewing with Safari is very poor (to say the least).
Even when I know for certain the video is available on YT in e.g. 1080p, Safari still only shows it in -I guess- 144 or 240p... And there is NO way to change the settings! (Believe me, I've tried!)
In the YT app the same video plays flawlessly in 1080p, and in previous iOS versions this never was a problem (play the embedded video, switch it to full screen and presto: HQ video at my disposal). I've tried this so far on an iPad 2 3G 16 GB with iOS 7.0.4, an iPhone 5S 16 GB, an iPhone 5S 32 GB, an iPad mini 16 GB and all the iPads (iPad Air I believe and some iPad mini retina's) in my local Apple Premium Reseller and all showed the same behaviour.
Embedded videos from e.g. Vimeo are shown in a nice HQ/HD quality, and the YouTube app also works flawlessly, so why (WHY!) is this a problem?? Is it Safari? Is it a (hidden) setting? Am I doing something wrong (can't imagine that I am!)? Or is it a bug in iOS 7?
I'm really looking forward to an official Apple response on this matter!

It both happens on WiFi and 3G/4G connections. I have an Airport Extreme 5th gen. router which connects with my iOS devices (preferably through the 5GHz network, but also 2,4GHz if necessary). I also have an 50 Mbit/s FttH connection which works perfectly. In speedtests online I always get around 45-50 Mbit for up- and download, so the internetspeed isn't the problem here.
It doesn't happen when I use Chrome on the iPad, nor any other browser.
And there is no "toothed wheel" when viewing embedded YT-videos on Safari... there never was.

  • Ugly & Low Quality Crossfades After Media Encoder

When I render with Adobe Media Encoder in Premiere Pro CS3 I get a good quality m2v except for the crossfades, dissolves, and fades.  They look like a low quality youtube video or compressed JPEG image!
    Here are my render settings:
    MPEG-2 DVD
    Noise reduction: OFF
    Codec: MainConcept MPEG Video
    Quality: 5
    TV Standard: NTSC
    Width: 720
    Height: 480
    Frame rate: 29.97 DF
    Field order: Progressive
    Pixel aspect ratio:  Widescreen 16x9
    Bitrate:  VBR, 2 pass
    Min Bitrate: 1.5
    Target Bitrate: 4
    Max Bitrate: 7
    GOP settings: M frames 3, N Frames 15
    Audio: PCM, 16bit, 48kHz
    Multiplexer: OFF

CBR is not better than VBR 2-pass, all the rest being equal, on the contrary, VBR 2-pass is better but takes double the time.
There are two problems I see here:
    1. Progressive. Is the source material really from a progressive SD camera or was it converted to progressive? In the latter case, the OP has willingly thrown out half of the vertical resolution, which can cause the degraded quality.
    2. The bitrate is pretty low. Using a calculator to do some bit budgettting can help improve quality. Look here: http://dvd-hq.info/bitrate_calculator.php?PHPSESSID=6501b6b2b31f4c4a295bc8c2ba1e6f57#Calcu lator

  • URGENT - Screen Capture Video Quality

    Hi,
I need to create a movie for a client that shows the computer system that was developed for them.  The system is a web application and is accessed using Internet Explorer.  I need to be able to put the movie onto a dvd for viewing at various client locations.
I created a number of screen capture videos using Snagit 9 showing the user experience in Internet Explorer.  I took these with my screen resolution at 1440x900 and, when I put them into my Premiere Elements project that is setup as a NTSC DV format, the video quality is unreadable.  I have tried to use several tools to compress the video to a size that is lower than the 720x480 resolution of my NTSC DV format Premiere project and the files themselves look great when I view them using Windows Media player.  However, when I add the files to Adobe Premiere they become extremely blurry regardless of whether I've scaled the video or not.  I have tried different aspect ratios in the Interpret Footage and have even removed the scale to frame option.
Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong or how I can fix this problem?  I need to have this video completed for tomorrow evening and am stuck with the illegible screen capture videos.  Please help.
    Thanks,
    Scot

Burn your project to DVD (or first to a folder then onto DVD) and see how it looks on a standalone DVD player. It may be a problem with your screen resolutions v native resolutions, or a lack of preview rendering (is there a red line above your timeline - if so press enter).
On top of this you have the absolute problem that your are asking PRE to reduce from a 1440 x 900 screen resolution to a 720x480 DVD format. How well it does this you'll really only see by burning a DVD - but if it doesn't look good enough  you might consider using a 800 x 600 screen resolution to record your screen captures and reduce the amount of downscaling PRE does.
Which Snagit Export format did you use to import to PRE? What other export formats are available?
    Cheers,
    Neale

  • Nokia 808 Captures Videos Very Dark in Low Light C...

As in the title written Nokia 808 captures videos very dark. Please look at the video sample. My father captured with panasonic lumix camera and i did with 808. The result was, sound quality was brilliant in 808 but video was lighter in panasonic. I had to choose creative mode and selecter higher levels to make the video better. I think Automatic mode should do everything perfect for the user. But i had to interfere. I think an update about camera rules would be great.
     The sample video : http://youtu.be/AVEMqF3XXzI
Also, please nokia team do something for camera shake in 808. Maybe digital image stabilization i dont know.. Photos looks sharp until we zoom in and realize there is blur in the photos. I hope there will be fix on that.

I had the N70, then the N95, then the N8, and now the 808. And the problem with the dark video when in automatic mode in the dark got worse with each new phone, but the problem with the 808 is really bad, and yes you have to adjust manually instead of the automatic mode adjusting automatically, and this is very bad.
About the sound recording in videos, I think it's very low in volume, amybe because it's prepare to handle the very loud sounds of a music concerts. That's fine, but for the normal use there should be the possibility to adjust the sound recording level/sensitivity.
About the blur in pictures, it's the first phone that does this. And other users report that the camera shutter speed is very low, so you will get that problem even with very steady hands. And some users reported that if you take a picture of moving people on the street, you will notice the trace of their movement. I never had that problem with the other phones.

  • I uploaded a video from a flashdrive to my Mac and it compressed the video to lower quality and shrunk it in size. How do I get it to the original size?

I uploaded a video from a flashdrive to my Mac and it compressed the video to lower quality and shrunk it in size. How do I get it to the original size?

It changed the Aspect ratio of the video, as if it had been shot on a phone instead of a camera. When first looking at the footage it was in landscape aspect but when I transfered it to a memory unit to put on a different computer it uploaded it in a different ratio

  • Low quality video after import from After Effects in FCP 7, but not FCP5

    Hi everyone,
I trying to export a video from final cut pro. This video has motion graphics I built in After Effects, as well as footage from my T2i camera. I then took it into FCP to drop in audio and edit all my elements together.
When I exported a 30 second preview a few days ago in FCP5, the .mov file retained the quality of the export from AE and looked great - no quality lost, smooth animations, high quality video.
However, I then upgraded to FCP7, and now the quality is lower and the video components are a bit grainy when I export using the same settings. I've tried tweaking the settings, different ways of compression, but nothing is giving me the same clean export. I've even tried changing the sequence settings and putting my footage back down.
The only other thing that's different is I compressed my T2i footage to ProRes422 before taking it into After Effects, however even the 15 seconds of original footage I didn't compress is grainy now (and so is the original and new graphic work) so I don't think that's it. When I change the timeline sequence settings, I can get it looking good in the preview - but as soon as I render it or send it to compressor it loses quality again.
The ONLY differently between the two exports was upgrade Final Cut, but that doesn't make any sense to me. I've even tried reopening the preview FCP file (which then asks me to update the file to FCP7) and when I do it exports grainy as well - and NOTHING else has changed in that file or the export settings since my initial export of a 30 seconds preview.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what the issue may be? Or, what settings I can use to retain the quality when exporting?
    Thanks,
    Lauren

Thank you so much! Although it's not exporting quite as clear as before, it's much, MUCH better now that I've corrected the timeline dominance - I'd say 95% better; and it will be re-compressed by my clients for web streaming so it doesn't need to be perfect - but the initial quality was garbage.
I suspect when I exported my T2i footage as a ProRes file, than imported into After Effects, then back into FCP something happened along the way that messed up the quality slightly. Although the only difference in my method between FCP5 and 7 was converting to ProRes; which I only did for editing purposes as the native T2i footage needs to be rendered... which ended up being redundant as all my After Effects work needed to be rendered anyway. Ho hum.
Do you think the ProRes conversion could account for the quality loss? It wasn't just the footage that was grainy/fuzzy, it was also the After Effects graphic work, which is why I didn't think the converstion could be the culprit. Hm. I'll have to look into this more!
Thanks again - and so sorry for my delayed reply, I went on vacation shortly after I posted that message and only just got back to this project now

  • Is there a setting on 4S for high/low quality video?

I have a 4S and so does everyone I work with. If I send video to them, through iMessage, the video is clear and good quality. If they send video to me, or each other, (also through iMessage) it is low quality and poor looking. We have the same carrier, exact same phones, and they are even on the same account. We can't figure it out. The video will look clear on their camera roll, but will not be clear to the person who receives it on iMessage. It only looks clear when we send it from my specific phone. Is there some setting we don't know about?

I wish they would download in Apple Lossless, but I imagine most people really aren't that concerned about the sound quality by just want to get more songs on their iPod. Apple doesn't talk about what is going on internally or anything else so no one would know if this is being considered.
You can let Apple know you would like this available by going here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Final rendering of video is low quality and too bright

Here is the link to my original video clip, the video clip in the project, and the final rendered copy all on my monitor at the same time:

Here is the text of each video when fullscreened screened:
    http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t63/shadon1nja/RenderText_zpsd1240701.png
The picture got downsised which makes it harder to see the issue, but here is most of the it:
The final copy is lower quality and way too bright. Noticibly too bright. The clean darks turn into rough gray, and the quality is noticibly lower as well. I have checked the "use maximum render quality" and tried exportiing in AVI and MP4, and nothing is fixing it. Any ideas?

First of all, what type of file do you need?  If you're looking for lossless quality then I would suggest exporting a quicktime file with the Animation codec or some other lossless codec.  However, these type of files are huge and they might not play back on your desktop.  But, if you're just going to put this video on the internet when you're finished with it then I would suggest starting with one of the Youtube or Vimeo H.264 presets and modifying it to match your clip.  It still won't look as good as your original, but you can't expect miracles when working in SD and exporting to H.264, which is a very lossy codec to begin with.  If you want to try exporting to a lossless Quicktime or AVI, then change the settings so they look something like this:

  • Low Quality Video and Photo on iCloud

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6, in doing so thought I would take advantage of the iCloud facility.  What a great idea until I replayed the video back, talk about grainy low quality same for the photos.
Is there a fix for this or am I the only one with the issue?  All items play back on the phone perfectly.  iCloud is useless unless I can get my pictures backed up and uploaded to the iCloud in their original format.
Can anyone help with regards to this issue.
    Thanks

    Hello Double24,
Lets start with taking a look at the articles below so you can get your photos to show up on your PC. Make sure that you have installed iCloud for Windows and make sure the Photos option is enabled which it should be by default. If you are not seeing all of your photos, keep in mind that it will not sync photos past 30 days and has a maximum of 1,000 photos that can be stored on your My Photo Stream. You may just need to import the photos to your computer if you have not been able to get all of them for that reason that I just stated. Let me know if this works for you.

  • IDVD08 lower quality video than iDVD06

I'm not a pro video guy, so I really relied on the "simple" Mac apps and associated iLife (mainly '06). There were MANY changes from iMovie/iDVD '06 to '08 and maybe I'm missing something.
With a recent import of DV tape into iMovie '08 and sharing it with iDVD, my wife and I immediately noticed lower quality video in the films (let alone the lack of chapters, sigh). Reading these (and other) forums, I found the iMovie '06 download and proceeded to use it for another movie and sent it to iDVD '08.
Using the same quality (professional -- I don't mind the lengthy time), the output DVD was definitely better looking than the previous work flow (iMovie 08, share, iDVD 08).
    Has anyone else seen/noticed this?

    Hi Andre
    There is another aspect too.
If You add photos to Your movie and use "Share/Export to iDVD" from versions up to iMovie 6
then You'll probably get a lousy result what ever coding scheme.
If You done this and let iMovie render - two problems occures:
    • iDVD performs badly
    • Your original iMovie movie is harmed and You need to re-import Your photos and re-do the edit.
Then close down iMovie. Drop the movie icon (with a Star on it) into the theme window in iDVD.
Now iDVD will do the rendering and so much better.
Most probably this goes for iM08 and iDVD08 too.
Ps. I used Pro Quality on a small project and got a very good result - but may be I just was lucky Ds

  • Fit 3 hours of low-quality video on to one 4.7 DVD ?

I am using Encore DVD 2.0. I have 206 minutes of low-quality video I'd like to fit onto one 4.7G DVD. I would much rather sacrifice quality to get it all on one disc. The source files are mpeg-2 totaling 8 GB. Setting the transcode settings to Automatic and building the disc, I get the error that the resulting bitrate would be below Encore's 2 mbps minimum so the build fails.
Strangely, though, in two different projects now, if I keep trying to build, restarting Encore, etc, it will eventually transcode and build anyway, but I have no idea what I did to make it work.
Using a bitrate calculator with 2 channels of 192kbps dolby digital audio and 206 mins of video, it says an average bitrate of 2.5 should work.
Also, I see in the Transcode presets window that the bitrate can be set as low as 1.5. Encore help also says 2.0 is the minimum.
Also, what does the "Quality" slider under Basic Settings mean? Is that a bitrate setting or something else?
    Any insights?? Thanks!!

You do have an option, but the quality cannot be guaranteed.
    Create a DVD9 folder instead of a DVD5 disc.
Find & download a copy of DVDShrink.
Load the folder into this, and reduce to fit on a DVD5 - if the bitrate can be sufficiently lowered.

  • Screen Capture Video Loses Quality When Imported Into iMovie - WHY?

I am using screen capture software to make a video of my screen at 1024x768. The video is for a tutorial. I want to use iMove to get things like transitions and such into the movie, and to add text and audio. The problem is that, although the video looks great in QuickTime, it loses quality significanly when I import into iMove. The text on the screen is blurry, and the quality of everything else is terrible as well.
Is this s limitation of iMove? Can screen capture video be imported? Does it only work with DV?
Also, I tried to convert the file to many other formats, from QuickTime to MPEG-4, so it's not the file type.
If anyone can help me out, I've be very grateful.
    Thanks!
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Your dimensions are getting in the way. iMovie converts your 1024X768 to a DV Stream file that is 720X480.
One workaround would be to set your display resolution smaller. Try 800X600 (if your windows fit that size).
If you're using Snapz Pro you should set your window capture to 640X480. This size will import nicely into iMovie.
An even better way would be to do all of the work using QuickTime Pro. Again a 1024X768 QT.mov file would not fit on the most common display settings used. When you add the QT Player window the controller would be below the screen and not accessible for most users.
800X600 would make a better file (smaller, too). It would still be 4:3 aspect and would also import into iMovie.
