Low res playback of eps file

I've imported an eps file (company logo) and changed the scale with keyframes so that it grows over 5 seconds. The rendered effect displays at a very low resolution, even though the static file appears super crisp in the timeline. Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks.

Hi,
Also, make sure your playback resolution is set to Full.  See here

  • New Mac Pro/ Final Cut X User--Jaggies and Low Res Playback

    Good morning,
New Macx Pro with Cinema display and Final Cut X (demo) user. Working with P2 footage and noticed jagged egdes in upon playback. In other words, the footages appears as low res. I have the program monitor is set to full res and "fit". I am also testing Premier on my Mac (I've used Premier for years on a PC) and noticed a similar issue, but the jaggies aren't quite as bad.
This issue has me worried. Any insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    GL

Okay, problem solved...whew! It turns out the playback setting in preferences was indeed set to "better..." and not high. Well, that deserves a...duh!!!
    Thank you for the recommendation.
I also fixed the Premier issue. I had to specify custom presets for the project.

  • • Mix of "High Res" & "Low Res" inside same PDF file, possible?

    Hello -
Since a while now we have to provide 2 .PDFs to one of our client.
One in HR, because the artwork is printed in China
The second one in LR, so he can check all the texts, pictures, …
But, yesterday, our client came with the wish to only receive 1 .PDF, within the HR and the LR.
I know, it isn't a good idea (I told him), but it's his wish.
So the question is quiet simple, is there a way to "join/merge" those 2 .PDFs but at the same time each keeping their own resolution?
It doesn't have to be an Adobe® solution  ;-)
Thank you, have a nice day.

  • Importing eps files in keynote

It is annoying that keynote 6 does not allows one to import eps files directly into the presentation.
The presentation looks low res when the eps is converted into either a pdf or into other bitmap formats.
My presentations on keynote5 look much crisper when compared to the ones made on keynote6.
Is Apple planning to bring back vector formats into keynote6 ?

  • Low Res Livetype Files

This is something I've been dealing with for the four years that I've been using LiveType and FCP, but I haven't really made any effort to do something about it until now.
When I import a Livetype video I created into FCP, the text is pretty pixilated, and this continues when I export the Quicktime movie. It smooths out when it's put on a DVD, and also when the exported video is interlaced.
Is there anything I can do to get clean, smooth Livetype videos in FCP?

In LiveType, go to the menu bar: Edit > Project Properties > Quality.
    Set Movie Render to Normal.
    Also consider:
•You need to render the LiveType file in Final Cut Pro.
•Final Cut Pro's Canvas always shows a low res proxy to better enable real time playback.
•Select the option to use high quality playback in QuickTime Player > Preferences > General.

  • How come my PPT to PDF files look so awful (low res)?

I have a powerpoint file that I need to save as a PDF. Originally, I had a lot of PNGs in the file because I need a transparent background, but each time I save the file as a PDF it looks horribly low-res (blurry, jagged edges-everything images should not be). All of my images are high quality and nothing is being scaled up. I have adjusted the settings in the PDF dialog box to be printer quality, and I've checked the "High Quality" setting checkbox.
Next I thought powerpoint preferred JPGs, so I saved all my images in that format, but I'm still having the same result.
Here's another plot-twist: saving the powerpoint file on a Mac gives me slightly better quality, but none of the hyperlinks work.
    What up?

It may be the PNG with transparency. This is a classic problem with AA, though I thought it had been fixed. Older versions could not handle transparency. With PPT, PDF Maker changes the borders I think. That improves the PDF result without having to change some of teh options in the printer yourself. The resolution looks good, unless your problem is that of some colors and lines being impossible to see because of the 1200 dpi. I use the default resolution of 300 dpi (the default is 1200). I had problems with 1 pixel vector graphics that would be washed out when done with the 1200 dpi.
If it is not the transparency, then there is a chance the problem has to do with this display resolution.

  • Help!!! Images are blurry/low-res in InDesign files I sent - re-linking is not working or we're doing it wrong :(

So I am transferring all of my InDesign files over to my boss because I am leaving my job, but all of the photos placed in the layouts I've created show up blurry when he opens the files on his own computer. We've tried relinking the files, even! We may be doing it wrong, so first of all, could I get a detailed step-by-step to relinking files? Secondly, if that doesn't work, what else would you suggest?
Info that may or may not help: I have a PC, he has a Mac, we used Google Drive to share the files, and I've already tried packaging the files.
    Thanks!

Is it now the appearance in ID only or also PDF output? If the output is fine, it may just be the screen display settings. ID by default shows a low res screen copy. You can check on the boss' computer by selecting an image, right click and change the setting...near the bottom of the menu.
Also, in the links panel, are all the images up to date?

  • Low-res File Icons In Finder!

Not all of my file icons are high-res in Finder. For example Web Internet Location files, Disk Image files and MP3 files all have low-res icons. Is this a Leopard bug or did something go wrong during the upgrade from Tiger to Leopard on my machine?
How can I get all of these icons showing up in high-res?

While Quick Look decodes a surprisingly large number of file types, it doesn't decode them all. Oddly enought, considering that webloc files are created in Finder out of Safari, it doesn't do anything with them: one would think it would at least display the URL, but it doesn't. It also doesn't display Safari's webarchive files, which is even stranger (and worse, in my opinion). Apple needs to write the code to get these to display in Quick Look. I'm sure they will, especially for Safari's own webarchives. The same thing for various other file types that don't currently display in Quick Look: someone has to write some code to create QuickLook generator plug-ins. There are many that are simply buit-in, and I have two add ons from Apple: one for GarageBand files and one for iWork files, they are here:
    "/Library/QuickLook"
As developers begin to take advantage no doubt more will show up when you update your third-party programs.

  • Ideas and Suggestions for Working with Low Res Video Files

    Hi,
A client has asked me to take all of her low res videos she shot with her iPhone and put them on a DVD.
I've made her aware that the end result is not going to be a Hollywood production.  I even did a test for her to show the difference between a low res clip and a HD clip.  You can see these clips here:
    http://designerandpublisher.com/hs/lowrestest.mp4
    and
    http://designerandpublisher.com/hs/hdtest.mp4
She understands and will fix her camera to shoot high-res next time.  Anyway, the footage (330 minutes) I have looks like this when imported into Premiere Pro CS4:
I first just set up a 640x480 timeline and imported one of her clips.  It doesn't look too bad.  I'm not sure why that green bar is there:
Then I went into the timeline's properties to see if I can somehow enhance it once it goes onto a DVD via Encore:
But i'm not really sure if it's worth fiddling around with a customized timeline.  I don't have my hopes up though but I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me what they did in this type of situation.  It seems like the 640x480 timeline, once brought into Encore and transcoded for the DVD, may work best.
    Any ideas are appreciated.  Thanks.

  • LR 5 exporting low res files

    Hi
My LR5 is exporting low res files for some weird reason. I figure it has to do with the fact that I recently started using the smart preview  function. What made me almost 100% certain is has to do with this is the fact that I removed the hard drive that the files were linked to in LR, and then I was still able to export files. Now that in my mind shouldn't be as that file would be based on the smart preview created.
With all that said....any ideas on how to get around this?

The export feature is available when using smart previews. Sometimes users want to export images to post on the web or to give to clients for evaluation. You simply have to be aware of what you are doing.

  • Converting Thumbnails of lost files into low res useable files

My Network Storage hard disk recently failed completely and I have lost about 3 months of family photos (new baby). The new baby was the reason for forgetting to back-up (inexcusable).
I am using Photoshop SE and it still happily shows the thumbnails of all the lost photos even though the NAS is disconnected and in bits.
Is there ANY way that I can get to the thumbnails and save them as files.
I realise that they will be in low res but I don't have another option as the hard disk has failed mechanically and according to the maufacturer will not be recoverable even if I could afford the services of a proper data recovery company.
    Hoping you can help,
    Mike

I'm sorry to hear about this problem. I can imagine it's very upsetting.
You can certainly do what you want, but you'd need some photo editing software to get it done. Photoshop Elements would be a good choice, but there are lots around - probably even free ones.
The approach is to display a thumbnail as big as PSE SE will allow. Then to a screen capture [PrintScreen button]. The paste into the editing program, crop off the excees dross and save the image. It will take some minutes for each one.
How many do you need to recover? There may be a few shortcuts if the number is very large.

  • What determines how a PDF or EPS file is opened??????

Hi I was wondering if anyone can tell, what determines how a PDF or EPS is opened in Photoshop.
If I open a PDF in photoshop, the first thing that pops up is the settings for which you want it to open. i.e., color mode, resolution, you choose what you want and then open.
I always thought that how the file was created determines the initial settings in which photoshop displays in that little dialogue box. (for example, if I open an illustrator eps file that I created in photoshop, it always prompts the correct settings (300dpi, CMYK) I click open and it works great.
But when I open a PDF in photoshop it always displays the color mode as RGB, not cmyk. Which i find odd, because I know there is no RGB color space in the PDF.
Today something weird happend, I created an Ad in Indesign, every image I am certain was 300 dpi, and the rest are vectors. Exported it to PDF with high resolution settings, but when I opened it up in Photoshop, the settins dialogue box promted it as 72dpi, which again I find odd because I know each image is 300, the rest are vectors, and I know the PDF preset to which I exported it creates high res images.
Does anyone know what determines how a PDF or eps file is opened in Photoshop and why photoshop is rendering a PDF in which I am certain is hi res, to a low res?
    Thanks for any help. Kevin

    >Hi I was wondering if anyone can tell, what determines how a PDF or
    >EPS is opened in Photoshop.
Nothing, really. EPS provides this info openly in its header, but it is not always right, so PS cannot even assume it would be correct to use that info. For PDF it's a different story. PDF is a container format that can contain any number of items in mixed resolutions and colorspaces, hence PS cannot assume anything. Likewise, you can have multiple pages, links, multimedia content, all of which may influence the result upon display or rasterization...

  • Editing H264 in low res

    Hi there,
I'd like to know how I can edit my H264 footage from my EOS 550D in low res because I can't read more than 2 or 3 seconds in a row without automatically stopping...
    Very hard to work...
    thanks for you answers.
    steve

I suppose what you want is to use proxy editing.
There are two parts to this:
1- create proxy media for your footage
The easiest way is to have everything set so that it is created when footage is imported: go to
Final Cut Pro->Preferences; under "Import", make sure that the box "create proxy media" is checked.
For footage that you have already imported, you can still create proxy media - select the clips in the event browser, go to File->Transcode media, make sure that "Create proxy media" is checked and click ok.
2- set the preferences to use proxy media:
go to Final Cut Pro->Preferences; under "Playback", click "use proxy media"
Remember, before final export of your edited video, to revert back your preferences to "use original or optimized media": this will ensure that you'll share from the higher quality version.
