Low resolution Illustrator file needs to be changed to high resolution?

I created a logo for a client in Illustrator that they were going to use on large format banners.  The file contained one Photoshop image that I  imported into my Illustrator file and changed into a vector object.  I also outlined all type.  The only other items on the logo were colors done in CMYK.  The client now says the overall image was done in 'low resolution' and needs to be in 'high resolution' but I'm confused about what part of the design she would be referring to (as, as far as I know) there are no pixels that would pertain to resolution - (unless the CMYK color builds translate into a problem?).
As she is a new designer for a client (my friend) I'd like to get some feedback before I just ask her what she's talking about and embarrasing her (or me).
Any thoughts?  Thanks.

I'll note... after reviewing my file, the only other thing I noticed was under Document Setup, the Transparency preset was at 'Medium' instead of 'High' resolution, but here again, I thought this was a non-factor because as far as I know there is no 'transparency' (no jpegs, effects, etc.)... just the vector items that I noted.

  • Export file settings to print at ultra-high-resolution: 5000 dpi, 1x1cm

I have a series of files each with a 1024x1024 artboard, with different patterns on each one.
I need to export them to be printed at ultra-high-resolution (5000 dpi, with a physical size of about 1cm x 1cm) to be used with a particular kind of new micro-optic technology.
How do I export the vector images to be rendered properly for printing at a specific dpi, and a specific size?

I understand the math better now, but am still stuck on how to set the size using File>Export.
When exporting as a JPEG file, for example, I have the following options:
If I enter 5000 ppi in the Resolution field (or even 2400), I get an error that Illustrator can't export at that high a resolution. I tried opening the Illustrator files directly in Photoshop, but the images are distorted and unusable as they appear there.
I don't see any options to set the image size to 2000x2000 pixels upon export. Sorry if I am being obtuse--I feel I must be missing something very basic here!

  • Default MOH file needs to be changed.

Guys, i need to change the default MOH music to a customer specified file on CUCM 8, how can this be achieved and what are the chalenges, Please suggest.

You probably can do this.  Check this out:
    admin:file list activelog mohprepCiscoMOHSourceReport.xml                SampleAudioSource.alaw.wavSampleAudioSource.g729.wav              SampleAudioSource.ulaw.wavSampleAudioSource.wb.wav                SampleAudioSource.xmlSilenceAudioSource.alaw.wav             SilenceAudioSource.g729.wavSilenceAudioSource.ulaw.wav             SilenceAudioSource.wb.wavSilenceAudioSource.xmldir count = 0, file count = 11
The files are right there for you to delete with:
file delete activelog mohprep Sample* noconfirm
Of course I would recommend backing up the ulaw one first with:
    file get activelog mohprep Sample*ulaw*
Then just upload your own audio with the same name through the web interface.  The name does not need the format in it, as CUCM does that automatically.  E.g., If you upload song.wav, CUCM will make song.g729.wav, song.ulaw.wav, song.alaw.wav, and song.wb.wav for you.
Test it in a lab first and let us know how you fared.  Happy hacking!

  • Need help : how to upload high resolution pictures

Hi, can anyone help me out with this. whenever I'm adding any pictuers to my site they looks kinda cr*py. the reason it because it's resizeing the image to a much smaller resolution.
    question :
    1. how do I upload a full res. image?
    2. also if anybody knows how I can prevent people from downloading those images?
    - thanks in advance
    Maruf

Maruf ~ Welcome to the discussions.
    1. iWeb > Preferences > make sure +“Optimize images on import.”+ is deselected.
    2. It may not be possible to prevent people from downloading your images — but you can watermark them. Let me... Well, see for yourself by clicking here.
Another trick is to place a transparent, borderless Shape over your images.

  • Saving a logo as a .EPS file, need higher resolution than 75dpi

Hi, hope someone can help me
I have designed a logo & sent it to the client, but they have come back to me asking for it in a higher resolution.
Apparently the .eps file I sent to them was 75 dpi but they need 300 dpi
I have opened up the original .ai files & tried to save them in higher resolution .eps but there is no option in the .eps save as dialogue box to save at higher resolution. The only part that seems to mention it is in the Transpency section... Preset: [Medium Resolution] But it's greyed out.
Does anyone know where I am going wrong?
    Thanks!!!
    Jade

Should I tell the client it is fine at 75dpi??
It's very common for someone receiving an EPS to import it into another program, see the embedded For-Position_Only preview (which is a raster image) and think it is a "low res EPS."
EPS is a metaformat. It's like a box that can contain any combination of raster, vector, and/or text objects. So EPS itself, like an Illusrtator fle, has no resolution, because resolution in a metaformat is object-specific to whatever raster objects which may or may not be included. A single EPS file may contain a 300 PPI raster image, and a 150 PPI raster image at the same time. Or, it may contain no raster objects at all, and only contain vector paths.
Regardless of the actual content, when you save the EPS, a screen-resolution raster image is created and embedded. This is to provide the program which is going to import it something for the user to see onscreen.
When the file is printed to a PostScript device (EPS stands for Encapsulated PostScript), the device prints the full-res raster objects, the vector objects, and/or the text objects that are contained in the EPS.
When the file is printed to a non-PostScript device, only the low-res preview is printed, because non-PostScript printers have no "brain" to interpret PostScript content.
If you are going to provide EPS to your customers, you should have some idea of what they intend to do with it, and make sure they have at least some basic understanding of what it is.

  • From Low Resolution Recording to High Resolution SVCD or DVD

I am wondering, if I record from a VHS tape at the lowest resolution onto my hard drive, then use WinProducer/Wincoder 2.0 (bundled together now) to convert it to a higher DVD quality resolution and burn it to a CD, will the quality be at least near what it would have been had I have recorded it as a high resolution file to begin with?
I thank any responses in advance.

    hplsbyufan
The point of recording in low resolution is that it takes less data than high resolution. So if you save something in low resolution you have lost the extra data that was needed to describe the images in more detail.
By way of analogy, if I describe the plot of a film I have just seen (low resolution) you cannot use that description to retrieve the detail of each scene (high resolution).
So, unfortunately you cannot get a higher resolution than that in which you originally recorded it.
    Sorry

  • Help Please!!!!!!!! Illustrator file will not open.

My computer froze with my illustrator file open. I was able to re-start my computer with no problems. But when I went to open my .ai file -that I have been working on for weeks- it would not open and the tiny window reading "The file xxxxx.ai is in an unknown format and cannot be opened!"
Okay, I don't know what happened. I had saved the file way before the freeze happened. I really need to get into this file. I would hate to have to start from the beginning all over again. I have an older version of illustrator (11.0.0) in Adobe CS. There were no pictures placed onto the file. Its all a vector file. Can anyone please tell me how I can fix this problem?

    Jacob,
Thank you for the tip. I still could not open the illustrator file even after I changed the "Content Recovery" from 0 to 1. I was able to open the file in a text only format and found that all of the "pdf" information was gone, as was all of the rest of the information that was needed (I did compare it to a healthy file). Not sure why all of this was wiped out in the first place. I have had my computer freeze on me before with a file open, and when I rebooted my computer and started the app back up with the file I had been previously working on it would always open with no problems (with back up file on hand!). I guess I will just have to chalk it up to a lesson learned.
    Thanks everyone for your help!

  • Can AppleScript dialog configured to use high resolution on macbook retina?

I've just got the macbook retina and noticed that script dialogs displays text in low resolution. Is there an configuration parameter that needs to be set to high resolution texts?

There aren't any settings you can make or change for the dialogs from Standard Additions.  I don't know if there is an update planned - some of those look to be pretty old.

You can not "change" an image to High Resolution - what ever resolution it was created at it the maximum resolution it can be
the most general way to use the max is to select the photos in iPhoto and export it to the desktop using the highest resolution and quality settings (see the user tip on exporting for details on the options)  and email from there

  • Should I modify the camera file to change the greyscale resolution of my Photonfocus camera from 8 to 12 bits?

I have some difficulties to use my Photonfocus camera with 12 bits greyscale resolution.
    I have a Photonfocus camera MV-D1024E-160-CL-12, a NI PCIe-1429 frame grabber, PFRemote 2.0 and Measurement & Automation Explorer 4.2.1.3001.
If I work with 8 bits greyscale resolution (PFRemote -> Data Output: Resolution : 8 bit) and look at the image with MAX (Système -> Périphériques et interfaces -> NI-IMAQ Devices -> img0: NI PCIe-1429 -> Channel 0: PhotonFocus MV-D1024-160 (file in attachment), everything is working.
Now I'd like to work with 12 bits and I don't know exactly what I have to change? I've tried to change only the resolution in PFRemote (PFRemote -> Data Output: Resolution : 12 bit) but then the image in MAX remains a 8 bit resolution. Then I've tried also to modify the camera file (file in attachment). I've put the "BitDepth" and the "BitsPerComponent" at 12 instead of 8 and the "BinaryThreshold" to (0,4095). But when trying to grab an image in MAX, an error occured: "Error 0xBFF600FE Le nombre de bits par pixel requis est invalide".
Should I really modify the camera file in order to grab 12 bits images? Or what should I do?
    Thank you

    PhotonFocus MV-D1024-160.txt ‏5 KB

    Hi toto26,
Thank you very much for the information. I did exactly the same thing as you suggested for 8-bit, and I were able to change the resolution (number of pixels), exposure time, frame rate without any problem. I understand that I need to coordinate the MAX icd file and the settings of PFRemote.
When I tried to switch to 12-bit, I found that I need the camera file (.icd) for 12-bit. I tried the attached icd in the previous discussion (Photonfocus MV-D1024E-160-CL-12 12-bit 1429 X4 only.zip 2 KB). There was an IMAX Error: Error 0xBFF6002C, FIFO overflow caused acquisition to halt. Then I think maybe this camera file is not good for me because I have a PCIe-1427, instead of a PCIe-1429.
So, I downloaded the camera file generator (from the same link you suggested) to create my own camera file. When I run the generator, the first window popped out was for camera setting, and there was no Photonfocus in the choice for the Manufacturer. Is it true that I cannot create camera files for Photonfocus camera, or I simply don't know how to use the generator?
Thanks again for the help and I look forward to more advices.
    Regards,
    Hasi

  • Illustrator files changing colors

i have illustrator files compiled in a book in indesign. everything looks fine and then when i create a pdf some of the illustrator files change colors (what's supposed to be black turns green). anyone know what could be happening?

Black shouldn't turn to green. However, if you have PMS colors and you select convert to process in export you will get color shift. Does it print green? If it prints correctly, it's a preview setting in Acrobat that needs adjusting. I think if you select Show Overprint it displays correctly. I'm at home so I can't check in Acrobat Pro.

  • Need a pro's advice - 3D and annimation of Illustrator files in AE CS5

I'm using CS5 and I'm routinely using Illustrator logo files in product videos that I'm editing, and I'd like to add more features to the video, but I can't seem to find answers to what I assumed would be a pretty common situation.
I'd like to add some depth to the logo files (3D) and animate them for the intro of the videos. I've come to the conclusion that After Effects is the best solution for animation, which I can then import into the timeline of Premiere Pro. Assuming the aforementioned is correct, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to import these Illustrator files into After Effects, and if this is the ideal environment in which to create the 3D file. There are 3D options within Illustrator of course, and then there are options within Photoshop, and yet again in After Effects and Premiere Pro. I'm not sure where to begin with this, and all the resources I've seen address how to do this with text but not with an existing Illustrator file.
So, my question is, what do the pros recommend as the best method of making Illustrator files into a 3D object that can be animated within After Effects and/or Premiere Pro. I'm not in a position to buy a plug-in to simplify the process (Zaxwerks doesn't have a CS5 compatible version yet anyway) so I'm curious what would be the best way to achieve these effects using existing CS5 software and features. Any links to resources that address this specific issue would also be much appreciated.

Invigorator Pro, similar to C4D "just works" and there's a sneak peek of new features on the Zaxwerks website for version 5 (check their blog), but it's not yet available, so this probably will not help you. LW is nice, but not for what you need. I've been a "Waver" ever since v4, but it's strictly polygonal and even in LW 10 there is still a separation between modeling and animation. This has benefits for large projects and reusable scenes consisting of repeating items such as they occur on TV series (for which LW is still notorious, anyways), but not so much for what you have in mind. Text there is always immediately converted to polygons, bevels need to be cleaned up, materials need to be assigend fresh etc.. While this doesn't bother me in any way and is a snap after all those years, it is not something I would recommend to someone doing your kind of work. Every time the cleint changes his mind you have to start over or work on frozen polygon data, which can become tricky with complex contours needing to look smooth... It's really more for "serious" animation work...

  • How to make PDF file size smaller from an Illustrator file without changing the quality or size (length and width) of the file?

Is there a way to make a 30x42 size (40 GB) Illustrator file as a PDF but make the file smaller in size (able to email to clients) with out compromising the quality of the file or the size of the file?

If you are working in RGB you can embed a colour profile. Embed ICC Profiles is one of the Acrobat save options. It will increase files size dramatically.
When you save your pdf you can choose the compression method for placed images. Default is ZIP which is really no compression at all for pixel images. Instead you should opt for JPG compression (of varying degree according to how sensitive the images are to compression).
You should also examine the other Acrobat save options. To minimize file size you should not have any of the options checked (Preserve Illustrator Editing Capability, Embed page Thumbnails etc. etc.).
40 gigabytes for a file like the one you show is ridiculous. Did you maybe embed the placed images? If so, don’t. Keep them linked unless you really need to embed them.
