Low sound from my macbook speakers

my speakers sound got pretty low can any one hlp me

I got it working. I had to go to Applications > Utilities > Audio Midi Setup and play around with the settings for the HDMI connection in there. My setting was at 96,000 hz and wasn't working but when I switched it to 48,000 hz it worked perfectly. Not sure how this got changed as I had never opened this app before fixing this setting. Found it in a similar thread so seems to be happening with the update.

  • Playing sound from my macbook to my imac

I'm using my iMac as an external display for my macbook pro. Since my iMac does not support thurderbolt, I've had to connect it using a Mini displayport. I've bought a 3.5mm Male to Male Stereo Cable so I could play the sound from my macbook through my iMac but both go silent. Anyone have any suggestion on how I could play sound on my macbook through my iMac?  Thanks in advance.

Firstn make sure that the male audio cable is plugged into the "audio out" port on the MacBook and is plugged into the "audio in" port on the iMac. Second make sure you are in the MacBook system preferences (Not the iMac) then click headphones. The thing named "Headphones" is your iMac. I hope that helped

  • Has anyone resolved the whirring sound from the Macbook late 2008 Optical Drive Self-diagnostic yet?

Has anyone resolved the whirring sound from the Macbook late 2008 Optical Drive Self-diagnostic yet?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If the hard drive does not appear in the DU sidebar list then it has died and will have to be replaced. No need to proceed beyond this point.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

I have a macbook pro 15 retina - when ever I connect to bluetooth speaker, I get this loud noise coming from the speaker - if I turn bluetooth off, the noise is now coming from the macbook speakers & stays until i restart.

Hi John. Thanks for that input. At Step 6, after clicking "Next" I get a window telling me my OS version is unsupported and the installation may not complete. I am prompted to go to Canon's web site to "Check Latest Info".
I've had this window on previous attempts and from Canon's web site I downloaded two drivers as follows
    - ICA Driver V4.0.0
    - Canon IJ Network Tool V4.5.0
I'm not sure if these are the correct / complete drivers I need for this install or not.
I continue to follow all the steps. At step 9 I click "Wireless Set Up using USB" amd get a License Agreement (a little different than instructions)
I click "Agree" and it goes to a Setup window with two progress bars showing the installation. I've not been prompted to connect the USB?
After the Setup window is done, I am then prompted to connect the printer via USB. I connect the printer and click on "Redetect". It is not detected.
I then try following the Canon on screen instructions for connecting to the wireless LAN amd enter the password. It searches and indicates "Connecting" on the window, but it never connects and the blue light just blinks
So, at this point I am stuck??
    Thanks
    Stephen

I can hear a loud 'CD spinning/fan like' sound from my MacBook Pro intermittently. Definitely not the audio as i muted it. No CD either. And the only programs running are words, safari and mail.

It sounds like the fan but this is the first time I hear it in the past 6mths using this Mac. If its the fan, shouldn't the sound be there all the time and not intermittent?

Yes, or you can put your serial number in here https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
and they will send you a box to put your iPod in, which they will then either repair or replace with a new one.
    Thanks

  • No sound from my Macbook Air. When I go to system preferences and click on Sound Output there are no devices to select from and the Mute box is checked.

There is no sound from my Macbook Air even when I turn it on.  When I go to System Preferences and click on Output there are no options.  The Mute box is also checked, but I cannot uncheck it.  Also when I try to play any video from the web, it stops playing after a second or so.  I have turned off my computer and turned it on again which did not help.

    Try these
    PRAM Reset: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
    SMC Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • I currently have no sound from my internal speakers. When I go to system preferences, internal speakers is not an option - there is nothing there. What should I do to fix this?

I don't know what to do - I don't have any sound coming from my internal speakers, and with headphones there is still no sound coming out. When I go into system preferences under sound, there is nothing there - it says 'no output devices'. What should I do?

Hard to suggest a solution without knowing the model.

  • Very, very low sound from MSI K8N SLI Platinum

The sound from my MSI K8N SLI Platinum nForce 4 is so low that i must set the volume control on max and the speakers on max to hear anything. I tried other speakers with the same result. The speakers are amplified.
    What can i do?

Well for a start you could search the forum as this problem is now well known. I'm not getting at you but I know how frustraing it is wanting someone to respond with an answer, and you don't have to wait if the problem has already been discussed!
The problem is that MSI decided to specify that the 24 pin supply must have -5v to support the creative chip. This is in contradiction to atx 2.2, and other PSU specs for 24pin supplys, which say the pin in question is NC (no connection).
What you need is a dual standard 20/24 pin supply.
Theres is a FAQ about this on the diamond forum, but I'm not sure if unregistered Platinum SLI users can read them anymore!
According to the FAQ MSI are promising US diamond users the chance to RMA their diamond boards when modified boards whcih don't require the -5v supply are availble. This isn't much use to us european Platinum SLI users.
I have a Tagan 480w which is dual standard 20/24 pin supply.

  • Really low sound from rear left spea

I have 5. headphones and when i have them pluged into my xtreamgamer i barly get any sound from my rear left speaker, i know it works because if i plug it in my basic MB soundcard it works fine. Is this a known problem or a fix for this?

I've installed the latest drivers, made sure the the jack is plugged in right (theres only one, that comes from the Monitor or the headphones). The CD only has an installation guide, and i know onboard sound is disabled because i never had one in the first place after a recent reformat. and before that reformat sound came out from both sides normally, so i know something is wrong with the sound card.
EDIT: i just did a random tests, and i found out that the right speaker is working, but it is playing extreamly low. i had to blare up my volume up to 00% and i bearly heard it. i've checked the playback control, and played around with it and still have same problem.Message Edited by Bigs80 on --200606:49 AM

  • Sound from Headphones and Speakers

I am getting sound out of the headphones and the speakers on my laptop.  I am trying to hookup my laptop to my tv so that I can watch movies.  I have everything figured out, except that i think I disabled the headphones.  When I plugged the cable into the headphone jack on my L455 laptop and into the RGB audio in on my TV, my laptop asked me if I had connected headphones or a line out.  I wasn't thinking and switched it to a line out.  Because of this, I think i screwed it up and now can hear the audio from both the TV and laptop speakers.  When I search for the headphone driver on my laptop, they are no where to be found.  Any advice as to how to fix this problem.  I would really like to watch this movie sometime tonight without an echo from the laptop speakers!!  If I turn down the speakers, no volume goes to the TV. If I have the speakers muted, no volume goes to the TV.  If I disable the speakers, no volume goes to the TV.  I beleieve this is due to me disabling the headphones, but I can not find it on my computer!!
    Thanks, Cortney

Realtek chipsets do have a "multi-stream" option. Classic mode seems to provide the most normal result, but there was a version of the driver where the behavior was unpredictable and it wasn't possible to know what would happen.
