Low Virtual Memory-Satellite M115 S3154

I constantly have Low Virtual Memory problem and have to clear and reset my paging file regularly.  System memory 504 Mb RAM on Satellite M115 S3154.  Have paging file min & max set at 1000.  Upon clearing paging file and reset everything runs fine for a while then slowly grinds to a halt until I can't do anything until I reset again.   HAve also tried running System Mechanic to manage virtual memory, but problem continues.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. I seem to have already done what previous posts have suggested.  Thanks!

When you say increase the physical memory what I have to do? Thanks
Increasing the physical memory means increasing the RAM, in this instance.  Your computer spec says 2GB but upgradeable to 4GB.  Here is a one person’s recommendation on how much virtual memory should be allocated, i.e., 2-3X your memory. (Some will recommend min if you have enough memory.)

According to the specifications at Toshiba's website, the A45-S120 came with 256 MB of memory, so it's no wonder that you are getting virtual memory alerts.  You can increase the amount of virtual memory Windows allocates by following the steps in this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308417
If you feel like spending cash on that old machine, then upgrade it with more physical memory.  For maximum compatibility, use Kingston KTT3614/512 or KTT3614/1G modules.  Increasing the physical memory will generally make the computer more responsive.

I am no expert on Presence server, but I do know that when there is process consuming more memory than the Cisco Tomcat Service, it is related to a memory leak and caveats are filed to address these situations. I was able to find the following caveats while doing some research:

memory requirement is continiously increased when i am running my application program in an infinite loop, after certain time it shows an error called low virtual memory

What are you doing with your program. Lots of improper programming techniques can cause this - building arrays, concantanating strings, opening but not closing refrences, etc. Need more details or post your VI. Also, have you looked at "LabVIEW Performance and Memory Management"? It's part of the shipping documentation and available from Help>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf.

  • Low virtual memory

i am running a vi which uses telnet, and has 5 picture indicators on the front panel with 2 or 3 Jpeg's in each of them. after running the vi for approx 30 mins, virtual memory runs out.

    A couple things to try:
    1. Can you post the vi in question?
    2. You can use the vi profiler to see which aspect is using the memory over time. Turn it on under Tools->Advanced->profile vis, check "Profile Memory Usage" and then run the program.
    3. Which OS are you using? What is your hard drive free space? What is your physical memory size. For NT based windows OSs (NT, XP, 2000, ME) the Task Manager will also give you memory statistics (ctlr-alt-del to bring it up). In 95/98 you can get the same info using the Start Menu->Accesories->System Tools->System Monitor.
    Hope it helps!

  • Equium can not play game due to low "Virtual memory"

When I try to install a game which I had installed in other toshiba series, I got this massage " This program can not be installed because it requires at least 3 MB virtual memory" Please help me. What does it mean the virtual memory? my laptop has 2 Gm Ram and it should manage a game.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
with that Virtual memory the size of the swapfile of windows is meant, where the files which do not fit into ram are swapped with it to HDD.
Did you minimized the size of that file?
And the most important question is: Which version of windows do you own?

  • Is there an update forthcoming to 4.0 to fix all the problems? Since it's installation, my PC operation has slowed to a crawl and I'm experiencing numerous "unresponsive script" and "low virtual memory" messages.

My PC was running fine before 4.0, and since then it is as described above. Almost thought this was a virus masquerading as a legit update (has happened to me before). Will there be an update to fix all the problems that have been reported, or do I have to bring in the Geek Squad to replace Firefox with Explorer?

  • Windows 8.1 RDP Virtual Memory Error

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 and am encountering the same problem as mentioned here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/068228a3-78da-4bcf-acb5-3cf5c63dee48/windows-81-preview-remote-desktop-failing-with-low-virtual-memory-error?forum=w81previtpro
I am trying to use RDP desktop version to connect to a site (which uses RD Gateway). It says "Initiating Connection" and then fails with no error or any notification (there is nothing in the event viewer)
If I try changing settings (removing sound from RDP, reducing resolution) I eventually get this message:
    [Window Title]
    Remote Desktop Connection
    [Content]
This computer can't connect to the remote computer.
The problem might be due to low virtual memory on your computer. Close your other programs, then try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact your network administrator or technical support.
Connection worked fine on Windows 8 - is this a known 8.1 bug? It is pretty critical for me!
    Thanks

    Hi,
Since I cannot repro this issue, I considered that following factors may cause this issue:
Paging file value setting is too low.
    RAM issue
First, I suggest we try following steps to check the issue:
Step 1: Increase page file size:
How to Change The Size of Virtual Memory (pagefile.sys) on Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/danstolts/archive/2013/01/07/how_2d00_to_2d00_change_2d00_the_2d00_size_2d00_of_2d00_virtual_2d00_memory_2d00_pagefile_2d00_sys_2d00_on_2d00_windows_2d00_8_2d00_or_2d00_windows_2d00_server_2d00_2012.aspx
Step 2: Run Memory diagnostic tool:
From Start, type mdsched.exe, and then press Enter. Normally, text that you type on Start is entered into the Apps Search box by default.
Choose whether to restart the computer and run the tool immediately or schedule the tool to run at the next restart.
Windows Memory Diagnostic runs automatically after the computer restarts and performs a standard memory test. If you want to perform fewer or more tests, press F1, use the up and down arrow keys to set the Test Mix as Basic, Standard, or Extended, and
then press F10 to apply the desired settings and resume testing.
When testing is complete, the computer restarts. You’ll see the test results when you log on.
If this issue still persists after above steps, I recommend you helping to do following test and let me know the results:
Start Windows in Clean boot mode, and open Remote desktop and see what’s going on:
How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    Keep post.

  • When playing games on facebook, I often get the message "virtual memory too low, is being increased" Is there something I can do to clean out the "virtual memory" to avoid this?

As mentioned in my question above, it happens usually during playing games. I wondered if there were someway to clean out the virtual memory, as opposed to it "increasing" continually and overloading my memory in general. You are speaking with a computer novice for the most part, so I am unfamiliar with a lot. I do do updates and general maintenance on the computer, but is that enough for this issue?

Physical memory is the memory that is installed on your computer as real memory. To be able to run programs that require more memory and more programs at the same time (via time sharing and task switching) it is also possible to move (swap) currently not needed code and data to disk to make room for other programs and data. The total memory available for programs is the Virtual Memory.
You can check the Virtual Memory settings here: Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Settings (Advanced tab)<br />
Windows can manage more memory then is physical available and that memory is stored in a page file on your hard drive.
If the size of that file is not large enough and all available memory is in use then you get the Virtual Memory is low warning.
Make sure that you have at least 1 GB or the recommended setting for the Virtual Memory.
If you have less than 1 GB physical memory installed on your computer then if possible add more memory.

  • The merge process could not allocate memory for an operation; your system may be running low on virtual memory. Restart the Merge Agent.

I encountered this problem on our SQL2012 and I have tried different scenarios (see below) to no avail. I have decided to give up and check if someone here has encountered this and resolved it.
One thing I know, it's not a memory issue. Both servers we're using has lots of memory to spare and we monitor the memory as the replication goes through it's steps.
I hope someone can help me on this. Thanks!
    The Error:
The merge process could not allocate memory for an operation; your system may be running low on virtual memory. Restart the Merge Agent.
    Our Scenario
We're using SQL Server 2012 SP1. All subscriptions are pull based.
We're using direct Merge Replication (not FTP or web sync)
We already have 10 active replications with larger databases. Only 1 has this issue.
Database size is less than 5 GB
Rebuilding the publisher is not an option.
    What have I tried?
There is no memory problem --- we have lots to spare
I have tried re-initialization of the database. Same problem.
I tried deleting the database and reinitializing it. Same problem
    New snapshot. Same problem.
I tried changing the subscriber server but still same issue.
    MCP, MCSD, MCDBA (ANXA)

Here is the result for the sp_configure on our subscriber. We're doing a pull on the server with the issue.
    name
    minimum
    maximum
    config_value
    run_value
    max server memory (MB)
    128
    2147483647
    2147483647
    2147483647
In addition, I made a comparison between the working servers and the one with the issue -- there seems to be a difference in the service pack. Publisher has none but the subscriber is operating on SP1. But still strange as only 1 database is affected.

  • The server is running low on virtual memory.

When running a sheet in discoverer I am getting the following error after around 10 mins
The server is running low on virtual memory. This can happen due to insufficient disk space or heap space on the server. Please contact your Discoverer Administrator for assistance.
I have changed the following settings to
    maxvirtualdiskmem = 4096000000
    maxvirtualheapmem = 4096000000
The query returns 625500 records with parameters selected
and 834360 records without any parameters set
    Can anyone help

Memory usage is going to depend on several things. While rows returned is part of it, other things like sorts, calculations, page items and report type can have a huge impact. Out of curiosity, is the report a crosstab? are there a lot of sorts, of some complex calculations?
How many users are accessing Disco at the same time, and is there anything else on the same box as Disco?
Also, after you changed the settings (and I am assuming the change was made to pref.txt), did you run applypreferences.sh and then bounce the app server? If not, the changes have not taken place.

  • SQL Error Data Flow Task 1: The buffer manager detected that the system was low on virtual memory...

I'm relatively new to SQL and this is the error that appeared when I tried importing my data. Not sure how to deal with this. Help please. Thanks a lot!
Information 0x4004800c: Data Flow Task 1: The buffer manager detected that the system was low on virtual memory, but was unable to swap out any buffers. 14 buffers were considered and 14 were locked. Either not enough memory is available to the pipeline
because not enough is installed, other processes are using it, or too many buffers are locked.

Either reduce the amount of data e.g. by lowering the Data Flow Task records max per batch and buffer size
or install more RAM, or process on a more capable computer.
