Hi
First of all you should not compare the sound level of the speakers with other speakers built in multimedia notebook.
As far as I know the notebook has been equipped with common stereo speaker as you can see here:
http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/satellite/c665/psc55a-013008/specifications#details
This are not Harman Kardon speakers which are used in much expensive multimedia notebooks.
At the other hand you should also check the sound settings in control panel -> sound
You can click right on the playback tab to see if all sound level controls are set to the highest level.
But listen: my notebooks internal speakers are also not really loud but I use external sound speakers from Logitech to get a nice sound while gaming.
Would recommend using such external sound system.

  • Lower volume level on Auxiliary that Airtunes is playing thru

Anyone got any advice here? I have airtunes working on my Bose stereo from both computers in my house. When I play it, however, it is at a noticeably lower volume level than that of the CD or even FM radio. Volume on iTunes is at the max.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chris

Which input are you using on the Bose stereo? You should be using a line level input (for example "Tape In"). A phonograph input expects a much different signal and won't work properly.

  • Low volume level on Viber

Hi, does anybody have the same issue? The other side hears me very good, but volume of internal earpiece in my Z2 is incredibly low. At the same time usual call with the same set up is very good.
When I use Viber through speakers, the volume level is good.

  • How to identify low volume/level audio segments in a recording?

Iam newbie to Audition and trying to edit/master a 2 hour long lecture done in a live setting (not studio). Since the speaker sometimes moves away from the microphone the level of the audio sometimes falls off or reduces sometimes for a few seconds to a few minutes. I would like to identify all segments greater than 5 seconds which fall below say -5db.
I have tried using Diagnostics >>Effect : Mark Audio and set a Custom setting. I defined Silence has : Signal is below -5 dB, For more than 5000 ms (5 seconds) and Define Audio has Signal is above -15dB for more than 27 ms. It works to some extent in the sense it marks the Proper Audio segments in between the segments that are between the segments that are identified/marked as Silence but I would like the opposite. I would like to get the segments which are defined as Silence to be marked.
I am sure it is possible to do in Audition, appreciate all your help in figuring out how to do it.
To do the same in Audacity is very straightforward, Go to Analyze >> Silence Finder and define Treat audio below this level as silence : -5dB, Minimum duration of silence : 5 seconds. Thats it. That easy.
Would appreciate help from all the masters in the forum. Thank you for your time in advance.

Is what you are going to do when you have identified these sections to raise the volume. That can be done automatically without previously identifying them by using the Dynamic Processing or Speech Volume Leveling effects.

  • Trouble with snoowball usb mic  in GB3....low volume levels or bad clipping

I have rebooted the computer several times. This usb mic has no driver software and was working fine until I got a audio core driver message of some sort.
    Any pointers?

    dollarblower,
If it's not the Snowball, then I'm not sure.
You can give the following a try; I don't know if it will help you, but it won't hurt you, and it often solves weird issues in GB:
    Use Disk Utility to repair your system permissions (/Applications/Utilities);
Then, trash your GarageBand Preference files (don't worry, it will replace them; you can reset any prefs to what they were in the app)
    Search for the two files:
    com.apple.garageband.cs -and-
    com.apple.garageband.plist
    and discard them.
(Normally, they are in /Library/Preferences/ or in user/Library/Preferences/
but do a search to make sure you get all the copies.)

  • Burned CD volume level too low

I have noticed that CDs burned with GB are at a lower volume level than commercially recorded CDs. The GB master volume is as high as I dare go without constant peaking. Can this be adjusted some other way?

  • Very low volume in the speaker

    Dears
i've notice of the very low volume level from the built in speaker of the earliest Mac Pro ( i've one ) compared to the previous one (2008...i've one). Is this normal ?
    Thanks in advance.

I can tell you right now, that's a complete waste of time! They're just gonna tell you it's "in spec."
It's a crumby speaker... deal with it. If you really care that much about the volume of the audio, you should just get a good pair of external speakers!

    Hi saiyed adil,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It appears that your iPhone 5s sometimes produces low sound, but a restart corrects it.
It can take some time to isolate and resolve intermittent issues like this one, and I'd recommend going through the steps in this guide the next time it occurs:

  • Volume level on line-in at 100% but still low sound level when I rec

For many years and hundreds of times I have successfully recorded wave files using a wave editor (Goldwave). I have transferred albums, tapes, and now satellite radio by running stereo cables from my receiver into my line-in on my sound card (using a stereo-to-mono adapter). The volume level on the line-in was always too loud on my old sound card, so I always turned the volume of the line-in down to about 20% and it worked just fine.
Two weeks ago my old sound card fried (don't know the brand - got it from a friend, and I've already thrown it out). I replaced it with a Sound Blaster Li've! 24-Bit. However, using the same configuration (receiver into line-in on card), when I record now the volume level that it records at is way too low. Even when I set the line-in level at 00% the volume that it records at is not even half the level it was with my old sound card set at 20%. Basically, when I record now at 00% on the line-in, the volume level it records at is too low. I have no problem with the line-out level - when I play mp3's or anything else on my hard dri've the volume is crisp, clear, and plenty loud at 40%.
But what is the deal with the low volume recording level? Is there another setting I need to change? Or do I not have the right sound card to do this with? Please let me know if it is a setting issue, or if I just need a different sound card to do this. Thanks.

I've had an Audigy2-nx for a week and have struggled with low
    recording levels as well.
Have you tried selecting "what you hear" instead of "Line-In"?
This gives me about 20% higher input levels.
I gave up on MedeaSource for variable bitrate recordings and
moved to dbPowerAmp. (direct recording to lame-mp3)
Others here mention good VBR recordings with MedeaSource, but
it won't exceed 90kbs (average) on my system.
I'm finally getting decent recordings from line-in.

  • VOLUME LEVEL TOO LOW

Is there any way to increase the volume level beyond that normally available. Some movie tracks need a much higher level.

It is not illegal. Apple has limited the sound level of their ipods over the past few years over complaints that they could be turned up so loud that people were damaging there hearing and so they took measures for the public safety to limit the volume. Personally I feel that if your stupid enough to turn it up full blast (old ipods unrestricted volume) for such periods of time that you damage your hearing that your just stupid.
Apart from adjusting volume in itunes the only other thing you can do is do the following on your ipod.
Go to Settings>Music>Volume Limit Check whether this has been turned down at all if not turn it up all the way. Maybe this will help.

  • Problem with iTunes and MP3s - tracks have low volume in itunes only

    Hi all
I have several mp3 that play just fine on other mp3 players (liSt below) that when I play them via iTunes are so quiet, I can barely hear them at full volume. the tracks are all mp3gaiN album leveled. I've looked at the tracks and they are all around 90db.
uniT these tracks play fine iN iNclude: the sony mp3 player iN the car, WMP11, wiNamp, my Sansa player, my RCA player,
    Any iDeas?
Ive tried re-encoding down, to a lower mp3 level with out success.

I did try adjust the sound enhancer originally (should have noted that). It helped with some of the notes, did not fix. Where is the equalizer in 10.6?

  • Using compressor DVD Studio Pro 4 will only accept ac3 format in the burn process. ac3 makes a nnsense of the good sound delivered, 30% reduction in volume, auto volume levelling giving unwanted volume variations. Used to be able to burn using AIFF/WAVE,

AS Above. Edited in FCPX. Excellent sound file. Using Compressor 4 to DVD Studio 4. Wanting AIFF or WAVE sound for acurate sound.
Previously DVD Studio 4 has accepted AIFF etc and delivered sound as reuired. Now, during the burn process everything other than ac3 is declined as 'video bit rate too high', but will burn if the AIFF format is replaced with ac3 (which I presume meanss the 'video bit rate too high' is referring to the sound file)
The issue with ac3 format is the huge reduction in original volume and worse, the 'auto volume levelling' that makes a nonsense of the original soundtrack - with simply aweful unwanted variations in volume Throughout the  the dvd.
I have tried everything I can think of to get around this. The 'volume gain' in compressor doesn't make any difference. Exporting just AIFF and the Video to DVD 4 doesn't make any difference, it always declines anything but the aweful sound ac3 delivers.
I have customers awaiting a musci DVD, not with thei quality I can't.
    Cheers
    Phil

The total video bit rate is determined by audio & video. Depending on what rate your video file was encoded at will determine how much room is left for audio. PCM(aiff/wav) audio requires a bigger piece of the pie. Video bit rate too high means your overall(video+audio) rate is going above 9Mbps which the format won't allow. The only way to use aiff would be to lower your video file's data rate. The length of your program is also a factor in all of this.
I had some problems in the past with using aiff instead ac3. Although there shouldn't be any issue I experienced playback issues on some players that couldn't be explained but were cleared up by ac3.  I have been using the same specs as Dave's suggestion for almost nine years and have not had any issues with mix, quality, or levels.
