Low Volume with Intel HDA ALC889

Hi,
I have a Intel board with Intel HDA ALC889 and I get sound out of it without problems. To get a half-decent volume, I have to set all volume controls (i.e. Master, PCM, Front) to 100 %, but sometimes it is still too quiet. Additionally, when I increase Mic Boost for Skype, all that gets louder is the background noise.
Sorry for the German locale, but here is the output of aplay -l:
$ aplay -l

Is there any solution to get a better volume?
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards
Thomas

No one with a clue?
Well, I already tried to set
options snd-hda-intel model=intel-x58
according to http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation … Models.txt as I'd say my board is nearest to a X58 board. But that didn't change anything.
Can it be a hardware "problem" or something else? Until now, I'm unwilling to spend money on an additional sound card if there is a solution...

  • [Solved] No audio with Intel HDA

I can't seem to get audio on my fresh (first) install of Arch. I had sound when I had ubuntu/trisquel installed, but when I switched to archlinux I can't seem to figure how to get it to work.
I have already unmuted my speakers/etc. in alsamixer. I can hear my system beep/makerandomnoises when I, for example, try to hit tab/autofill and nothing is there to fill in terminal; or when I try to backspace and there is nothing left to delete and it results in a beep (not sure if that matters).
The sound cards that alsamedia shows are; Intel HDA PCH, and Intel HDA HDMI.

Yes, I was using alsamixer to unmute.
Besides unmute, I haven't done much. I don't know where asound.conf is located.

  • Low volume with X-FI XtremeMu

I ordered the Vista CD from Creative, installed it, and the automatic updates were applied, well, automatically. Sadly, the volume of my X-FI XtremeMusic is very low compared to what I'd get on XP. I've reviewed the messages here, but I can't find the answer. Is there one?

Yup, same issue with the x-fi platinum, I have been using the youpax release to solve this issue. This would be an excellant find if it works for all the X-fi family, thats the only issue I have left to solve with this card.. let you know in a bit. Also, installed the latest patches for Vista tonight, didnt help the volume, but it MAY have helped with some of the odd choppiness, hard to tell .... Thanx for the info guys..The very next day ......
Yup, it works, and it works great, solved a lot of level/volume issues. Great find. And it works on many cl cards

  • Low volume with kensington fm transmitter

    Hi
Purchased a k33185 it is connected to new ipod 30g with video.
The volume is real low you have to turn car radio all the way up to hear the ipod. the volume of the ipod is at 100 percent. if listing to radio or CD player my normal volume level on the radio is about 1/3 on the dial.
To get the same level with the fm transmitter I have to turn the radio all the way up
To get the same normal volume .
    Any suggestions

  • Insanely low volume with via8233 onboard sound

Even with all volumes on alsamixer set to maximum, my via8233 onboard sound puts out about half what it ought to. Through my headphones, it sounds as though it's ten feet away... I can't seem to find anything on this problem anywhere on line, and I don't have a good preamp handy - only the piss-poor, buzzy black speakers that came with my last computer. Can anyone give me some advice?

It is inaudible, can hardly hear sound. I did try that options line and still nothing. I shouldn't have to use another sound card since it did work once and it does work with all my other distros. But getting another card is an option.
    Thnx.
    Gullible Jones wrote:
Well... How low, exactly, is your volume? Is it just lower than it ought to be, or is inaudible? Because if it's inaudible, then try:
    options snd-via82xx ac97_quirk=0
If your volume is just a lot lower than it should be, use a preamp, or just stick in another card.

  • IPhone 5s iOS 8.2. low volume with video turned of...

    Hello,
Today I stumbled across a curious bug on my iPhone 5s with the most recent iOS version. When I make a video call and either one of the users (or both) has the video on, sounds works fine for me. When both users turn off their video during the call (or if the call is made without video at all), the volume suddenly drops down on my end. If video is turned back on again, volume is good again. In other words - during a no video call I almost can't hear the other user from my iphone, but he/she can hear me all the time.
It's no coincidence, tried it a couple of times.
Does anyone know how to fix that?

I have the same issue and it has to do with iOS 8.2
Apple, please mend this ASAP. Really stupid change since iOS 8.1
If you for some reason must have many different folder make sure that you put the newst photo in the last folder so one can easily find a photo when I don't want to copy all photos to, let' say, my friend computer.

  • Low volume with eu firmware

for the people those dont know the situation, i have to summarize. European Union ask for a volume cap for ipods. So apple does different firmwares for usa and eu. that causes volume decrease.. Assume that ipods in usa can give 100 desibels, but ipods in european union can only give 60 desibels..
    this *****..
so i need us update for my update. do anyone in usa can post their update file here, or can give me an url to download? your file is in you c:\documents and settings\user name\application data\apple computer\itunes\ipod software updates.

    Hi,
let me make a small correction:
    there are no different firmwares!
The regional code is hardcoded in the ipod itself.
Restoring with an "US"-Firmware would not change anything.
    The other way round:
i have a US-Ipod and had it updated with the newest "European" Firmware.
There is no change in volume.

  • No sound with snd-hda-intel (Realtek ALC260)

  • Nokia X2-00 with low volume in earpiece

My Nokia x2-00 became with low volume when in conversations. I have pressed the volume keys to the max, but still the volume is very low.
Any suggestions? Will a firmware update fix this?
    Thanks,
    Pedro

    hi mate,
Have you checked via Nokia Suite on your PC if there are any firmware updates available for your device? IF there is, please update to the latest version offered. If that doesn't work, you can try re-installing your current firmware through Nokia Suite and if that doesn't work either, try Restoring your phone to factory settings.
Failing that, you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care for them to inspect: http://nokia.com/support

  • Why are midi notes in piano roll lower volume when selected with pointer than when in playback?

I'm using Logic X on mac mini. When I select midi notes in piano roll with the pointer, they are at a  lower volume than when in playback? I use Logic X on mac mini with Apogee Duet.

Thanks for your help Erik.  I found the answer you posted about 30 minutes after posting my question.  To me it doesn't answer my question 100%.  The reason is that I can't expect to believe that every time someone records midi they have to go through all these extra steps to merge it (and it is not easy to do because they are hidden behind one another) in fact my problem was so unique that other logic users didn't understand why I am having this trouble.  SO that brings me to my conclusion, that I have some setting that is keeping this from being a seamless operation and transforming it into a bunch of hoop jumps.  Thoughts?  Could it have to do with record settings of "merge"? I saw a few  different settings there but none make sense to me.
    thanks again.

  • How do i change  ringtone volume to ring with low volume first and then gradually increase to the max volume ?

how do i change  ringtone volume to ring with low volume first and then gradually increase to the max volume ? this feature was available before but is  still available now ? this is for IOS8 running on Iphone 5c.

I've never been aware of a function like this in the past. You could create a personal ringtone that would last 30 seconds or less and set the volume on that ringtone to do that with an audio editor, such as Audacity.

  • How to overwrite expired volumes with lower sequence number?

    I test expiration policy.
I have a tape library with two volumes.
I defined expiration policy after some time when write windows closed.
    lsv -L test_lib
in 1: volume mf_test-000001, barcode e61bcfea534e10281bb000b5df3a54e, 4148676704 kb remaining, expired
    in 2: volume mf_test-000002, barcode e6251c26534e10281bb000b5df3a54e, 4148657504 kb remaining, expires 2011/04/28.11:49
How to make OSB overwrite 1st expired volume when writewindow closed on the 2nd volume (with lower sequence number)?
Is it possibly without rotation policy?
If not how to set the policy in my case?
    Thanks!

    Hi!!
(Excuse me for my bad english language.)
The songs are being exported with very low volume. I mixed all tracks to best use. I tried all the quality options, including no compression. I also tried with and without Normalize. What else can I try? What could be happening? Tks!
