Lower case edge / data connection refused on BB 8800

Hello, I need help to activate the data service.
I have a new unlocked T-Mobile BBerry 8800 bought from eBay.
When I inserted a sim card took from my Pearl 8100 it says data connection refused.
I upgraded the OS and now the version 4.2.1.101 platform 2.3.0.80 is installed.
The message "data connection refused" disappeared and replaced by the provider's name. But the problem remains exist. Indicator on the top right screen displays "edge" not "EDGE". (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02623&sliceId=SAL_Public&dialogID=141640847&stateId=0%200%2066797886)
I took the sim card out and put it into Pearl 8100. Sim card works well, emails and net browser are just perfect. I reinserted it back into BB 8800, but nothing changed, "edge" signal appears, my web icon disapearead. The handheld is functioning no more than a mobilephone.
The technical support staff had help me through this process. They gave up and concluded something wrong with the handheld.
Can anyone please help?

I am not sure what provider u are with and I assume u must have a data pakage so u are able to access these services-what it means is that it isn't connecting with RIM and u must go thru RIM to acess these services is the simplest way I can put it LOL---any way to fix ( make sure u have at least 3 bars of signal strength) go to OPTIONS- ADVANCED OPTIONS-HOST ROUTING TABLE THEN HIT THE BUTTON TO THE LEFT OF THE TRACKBALL(menu button) click register now) this regisers u with RIM u will receive a message in your messages box----if this does't work take your battery off for a min and put it back on it refeshes anything new that was done on the network----hope this helps

  • How to get rid of Data Connection Refused message

I have a blackberry 8703e, i recently disabled my blackberry data pack and ever since i did that I get the message data connection refused on my home screen. I know there is a solution for this problem for other devices like 8830 by simply going to Mobile Network and setting Data Services to OFF, but my device does not have data services as a option, I'm on the lastest OS 4.2.
Another thing I noticed that now my battery gets drained faster, I have a new battery and lasts less than a day, compared to almost 2 days when I had the data plan on.. strange...

About the battery - probably you're using some applications which consume energy.

  • How to investigate persistent data connection?

I have an E6. I have configured a GMail and Yahoo email accounts but have configured it to retrieve only at 8am. So data will be used only during that time or whenever a known internet accessing application is running.
This was for around 3 months. As soon as I exit say Opera, the data connection would be closed.
But for the past 2 weeks, the data connection refuses to terminate. Even when I manually terminate by going into Connections, it gets reconnected automatically.
This behaviour appears suspiciously like a virus / spyware running hidden because task manager shows no running application other than F-Secure which is disabled except for theft protection.
How to find out if there is any hidden process accessing the internet?
How to know which applications run at startup?

    hi,
    Use translate statement ..
    DATA letters(3) TYPE C.
    MOVE 'abc' TO letters.
    TRANSLATE letters TO UPPER CASE.

  • Hibernate for lower case data(case sensitive) in oracle 10G

    Hi,
I generated my data (oracle 10G release 2) using lowercase data types and table names. This requires queries in the strict form of -
    Select "Column_Name" from "Table_name";
But Hibernate makes the queries as -
    Select Column_Name from Table_Name;
driver I am using is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Jar is ojdbc14
    and dialect is org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle9Dialect
    The problem is:
table or view does not exist.
as it(lower case data) does not recognize the hibernate query format.
Can anyone suggest the proper driver and Jar to overcome the problem.
    Regards,
    Ankit

    Ankit,
Just bite the bullet and don't use case-sensitive identifiers :-)
I don't use "hibernate", but maybe you can add the double-quotes -- " -- in the XML file?
I don't think there's a JDBC driver that adds the double-quotes for you. So I think your only option (if you insist on using case-sensistive identifiers) is to explore possibilities through "hibernate" itself.
I also don't think there's any database setting that allows Oracle to accept case-sensitive identifiers.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

it seems because of invalid ports resulst in TCP connection faild. But abvously, these ports are not used in the applications, even some port is out of valid port range. Does anyone konws what the reason.

Is there any info in the node manager log files?
You can try changing the health check timeout.
    # Health Check Interval: Specify the interval (in seconds) between Node Manager health state queries to the Managed Server. Enter a value between 1 and 2147483647 seconds (default is 180 seconds).
    # Health Check Timeout: Enter the number of seconds that Node Manager will await a response to a health state query. If the timeout is reached, Node Manager assumes the Managed Server is "failed", and kills the process. Enter a value between 1 and 2147483647 seconds (default is 60 seconds).

  • How to send a file without getting Connection Refused??

    Hello everyone!
I'm developing a FTP (Client and Server) program as a project and I have 2 main problems:
    1. The program can't connect to computers with router (Connection Refused error)
    2. If a computer with router connects to me, the program will not transfer the file (Connection Refused error again). but if it does, my friend's internet is suddenly disconnect after one transfer
    what should i do?!? : //
everything is working well on one computer, but when i'm trying to work on 2 computers its screwed
***FOR EVERY TRANSFER I OPEN A DIFFERENT SOCKET AND CLOSE IT (AND ALL THE OTHER STREAMS) IN CASE OF EXCEPTION OR COMPLETION
    Thanks!!

    sorry..just want you to notice
so how the other ftp programs transfer files? : //
i have a test up against 2 testers and my program will not transfer files between 2 computers : ///Are these two computers on the same network? Aka behind the same router? If so then there is another problem, which is either a bug in your program and/or a firewall on one or both of the computers.
How does FTP work normally? Well in most cases you are talking to a server that is on the internet. This server has been configured to be behind or on a network where the routers are not blocking requests to connect to FTP ports (among other services). So nothing different other than it is configured correctly.
I do suspect your program may have some bugs as well. For example when you talk about it dropping the connection after one transfer. That doesn't sound too great.when i checked the program...no
    in the test...yes
so the server has no blocking ports, but what about a client with a router?..how do the programs pass the client blocking?
when i checked the program with a friend (i have a modem and i was the server) all the data was perfectly transfered (moving among folders, deleting files, creation of folders-->all these actions on the server..sending codes, strings and stuff), but when i tried to transfer a file it did connection refused :S
i can bring a link to the file that do the transfer and if you have patience to read

  • Decision Service calls failing with connection refused

    Hi All,
Breifing of the bpel process - Async bpel process XX_BPEL_ASYNC_002 calls decision services and a sync bpel process XX_BPEL_SYNC_001.
We have moved to cluster 10.1.3.5.0 from 10.1.3.3.0 and the deployement of the bpel process and the decision service done on two nodes i.e., node51 and node55.
But the bpel process is able to call the decision service only when the node 51 is UP and running, but if node 51 is down and node 55 is up and running it is failing with connection refused error. It is also working when 55 is DOWN and 051 is UP.
    the exact error is:
exception on JaxRpc invoke: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: Connection refused.
We are using file based repository.
It is failing when it tries to call particular url:
    http://loadbalancerurl:7777/orabpel/domain001/XX_BPEL_ASYNC_002/1.0/decisionservices.decs
Can anyone please help me or advice me for finding some solution.
    Thanks

    Hi Fatsah,
It has been a while since we resolved this problem. But these were  the basic steps that we had taken.
The receiver was configured a File adatpter with FTP:
    Port: 10021
Connection security : FTPS (FTP using SSL/TLS) for Control and Data Connection
    Command Order: AUTH TLS,USER,PASS,PBSZ,PROT
Problem: The message was blocked in our firewall.
FTPS in this case used 10021 as the control port and the firewall allowed to pass the control request.
Once the connection was accepted at the control level, it generated a random port number  to pass data on the channel.
This random port number was blocked in the firewall.
We monitored the data port numbers generated at firewall. Then we configured the firewall to open any port number  between the specific IP addresses of the sender and the receiver. That resolved the problem.
    Hope this helps!
Please give points if this is helpful.
    Thank you.

  • SQL Server 2000/CFMX 7 - connection refused: connect

    Hi all,
I have been trying to troubleshoot this for a few weeks now,
I have looked high and low and tried multiple solutions that worked
for other people, none have worked for me.
I have SQL Server 2000 Version 8 and Coldfusion 7.0.2.
I can't seem to make a database connect in Administrator. I
have tried changing the port that SQL Server listens on, I made a
new security role in SQL Server specifically for the database I'm
creating, I tried making an ODBC connection (which can see the SQL
Server) in windows then connecting to that, nothing is working.
I thought it might be the windows firewall, it isn't since it
is off, my TCP/IP protocol is enabled, I am running out of ideas.
If anyone can suggest anything, please do this is what I see
    everytime.
Connection verification failed for data source: IFDA
    java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC
Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
    [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket.
    Connection refused: connect
    I'm dying over here.
    Thanks.

This might be a dumb question, but have you searched Google
groups? Its one of the first places I go when I get error messages
    I don't understand.
    Googling this:
    "java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC
Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect"
..gave me 84 results (ok, a lot of them point back to these
forums but I still find searching thru Google easier than using the
    built in search) - here's a
    Link
    hth - cheers.

And tail emdb.nohup gives you the instructions to fix the first one, in my case, solving the TZRegion was enough.

If you modified the timezone setting in the environment, please stop the agent and exectute 'emctl resetTZ agent' and also execute the script 'mgmt_target.set_agent_tzrgn' to get the value propagated to repository -----
    Hope this could help you.

  • HttpConnection.getResponseCode generates a Connection Refused exeption

    I have the following problem:
I connect to a webserver, this works fine. Then I write data to the webserver, this also works fine. After writing the data, I determine the http response code to see if everything was successfull. Every so often this generates a "connection refused" exception. This happens even after the connect and the write were successfull. I find this strange, since I was able to connect and write data (this data has arrived at the server because I can log it there without a problem).
Can anyone explain this behaviour to me, because I am lost here.
    Mark

Have found that wildcard addresses matches any address of the local system, and that in IPv4, the wildcard address is 0.0.0.0. Can check for this with InetAddress.isAnyLocalAddress().
This means that I could potentially handle these cases by adding code to "ping" a host such as "tigers.com.au" using
    InetAddress address = InetAddress.getByName(name);
    if (InetAddress.isAnyLocalAddress() {
.... do something, eg raise exception
}But this is not fully satisfactory, as I would rather know that a "connection refused" exception is raised, which is actually the case with "tigers.com.au" (as all the browsers seem able to detect). I am not entirely sure what the relationship is between a site that has "connection refused" and it returning an ip address of 0.0.0.0. I don't think they are synonymous.
    Any thoughts?

  • Outbound Mail not being accepted: connection refused

For some reason yet to be determined I none of the users in our local network can send mail. Everything was working finne the other day then all of a sudden, one by one, all users lost the ability to send mail externally.
The SMTP error log was reporting a relay access error for users the I enabled the Login Authentication for SMTP and the messages seemded to be going through. But the messages now are not leaving the server apparently. Even though the mail clients send the message successfully, the messages are not making it out of the server.

I'm obviously a novice with mail servers so any hepl is greatly appriciated.
Here is a line from my SMTP log from the sample message I'm trying to send:
    Feb 16 11:19:46 mail postfix/smtp[18133]: AEF07178F4F: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=3897, status=deferred (connect to mail1.saintmichaelschool.org[65.173.83.122]: Connection refused)

I had a dig around google on the postfix 502 error and found one reference which stated that ...
    Permanent Errors
These indicate a permanent error and tell the sending system to bounce the message:
    502 Command not implemented
    http://www.answers.com/topic/simple-mail-transfer-protocol
If this is the case then the 502 error I got when telneting in would we taken as a final failure notice and they would not bother retrying, as I did.
I've no idea why it would be giving this error. Unless someone else can chip in with more info... ?
You can check for the error by connecting from a remote location by telnet...
    ======================================
In Terminal, type: "telnet mail1.saintmichaelschool.org 25"
there is a space beteen your hostname and last "25". This tells Telnet to connect on SMTP port 25.
    You should get a response:
    Trying... x.x.x.x....
Connected to.... dah de dah... your.server.name ESMTP Postfix
Type: "MAIL FROM: [email protected]" where [email protected] is any email address
    Response: 250 ok
Type: "RCPT TO: [email protected]" where [email protected] is the recipient in your domain
    Response: 250 ok
    Type: "DATA"
Response: 354 End data with... dah de dah...
Type a message and finish it with a "." (period) on a line by itself.
    Response: OK: queued as... dah,de,dah.
    Type "QUIT" to exit
    ===========================
I was getting the 502 error immediately after the Mail From command. If I repeated it, it was accepted OK. However, it looks like a sending server does not try repeating it.
    Good luck!
