Lowering sound of a song for some clips

hey,
I want to lower down background song that I added to my movie- I want to do it only for some of the clips- as people Are talking on them and I want it to be heard- and then put the volume up for the rest of the clips.
Is there such option and when to search for it????

Yes. Select the frames that you want to use the voices so that the yellow border is around them. The right-click/split clip. On the split clip you can open the inspector to the audio tab and turn on the ducking feature, which will diminish all other audio tracks by the percentage you specify.

Does the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option find it ? If not, then depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries), does it show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes for downloading (if there is an complete download of the track listed in the Music part of your library then you will need to delete it from there before it will get the cloud symbol in Purchased for redownloading) ?

im looking for some clips that i can use. such as a 3,2,1, countdown, or a test screen, etc... anyone know of where to get one? thanks.

Gee Three has some plugin countdowns as part of their Slick Volume 5. Volume 10 has color bars and test patterns.

Stabilization option disappears for some clips

Hi. Need a little help. When I highlight some clips in my timelin, the options for Stabilization and Rolling Shutter simply do not appear in the video Inspector -- but those options are there when I highlight other clips.
Could you help me get the Stabilization option back for these clips?
In more detail, what happens is this:
In my timeline, I highlight one clip and all the standard video options appear in the Inspector: Color, Transform, Crop, Distort, Stabilization, Rolling Shutter, Spacial Conform, Compositing
I highlight another clip, and Stabilization and Rolling Shutter are the only options missing entirely in the Inspector
I've tried clicking on the down arow in the top left corner of the affected clips, and selected Analyze and Stabilize, but that does nothing and does not make the Stabilization and Rolling Shutter options appear in the Inspector
I've also tried launching a whole new project, dragging some of that footage back into the timeline, and the same thing happens: no Stabilization option in the Inspector
Been editing for months in FCPX and this is the first time this problem has come up. Did I accidentallyy click a button I shouldn't have? Any help to resolve this would be much appreciated.

I have the same issue. Can't really trash & reimport everything. Trashing preferences doesn't work. Some clips have it, others don't. Very random.
EDIT: I just noticed that all new clips dragged into the project do not have stabilization anymore. So, below is a pic of two identical clips in the same project, one added months ago to the timeline, the other added today.

Hi, I am not getting any sound from my Imac for some reason. I cant figure out why.

For some reason the sound on my Imac stopped. I checked all volume controls and they are up and still no sound. I have restarted the Imac and still nothing.
Any suggestions?

Can happen occasionally for reasons unknown.

Sound but no video for some users?

I was pushing a 700k stream last weekend and I was getting a rash of users saying that they had great sound, but no video, while others got video no problem. I'm using JW player for flash, and saw no problems myself on the stream. Any idea why some folks might not be getting video? Sometimes if they hit REFRESH on their browser to reload everything, it *might* start working...

Do they have latest Flash Player? If you know anyone of them, to check issue, share stream with 1 subscriber or share stream with H.264 codec.

Riddle me this-. Orange Render bar for some clips

I hope my system isn't getting tired and old but I have never had a project where all the clips needs to be rendered. No effects applied or anything. I converted these clips to Apple Pro Res(LT) and I still need to render. When I convert my RED footage, it works fine. But not the MVI files. See picture on this link. The files have same codec, one needs to render but the other doesn't!

I interpet that it mean it will playback withourt requiring rendering until you apply an effect.
One of your clips is set to "maximum" quality with a higher bitirate than the one set to "Normal" quality. Not sure if that is causeing it.

I just went through this and it appears that my Focusrite Saffire was the culprit. I connected all the outputs on the focusrite according to the way the jacsk on the back were labeled and then set up the multichannel speaker setup to match. Then I went into STP, created a pink noise clip and panned it around, the LFE, center and rears were not in the right place.
I reconnected the hardware to match the 5.1 pan pot in STP then changed the multichannel speaker setup to match. Everything appears to be correct now but I would have loved to have been able to just assigned the output busses to correct outputs in the saffire.
Next step is to pan that pink noise around with my SPL meter to calibrate the room.

I have tried to sync my Iphone with my current Itunes and for some reason not all of my music is transferring to my Iphone. Some songs that were on my phone previously, are now not transferring. Any ideas?

iTunes will only copy back iTunes purchased music. If you don't still have a copy of the music that you copied from CDs or bought from other stores anywhere (e.g. on another computer or on your backup of your library) then there are some third-party programs listed half-way this page which should be able to copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

How do I get all of the music on my computer to transfer to my Iphone? For some reason, itunes has picked up some songs but not others. example, I have several CD's loaded in which only 1 or 2 songs from the CD shows up in itunes.

I have about 70 Cd's loaded on my computer as I had previously owned another MP3 device before I got enamored with the Ipad and Iphone. My problem is itunes will not recognize all of this music. To give a specific example, I have an old Bon Jovi Cd "crossroads" , itunes only recognizes 2 songs off the Cd. How can I get itunes to recognize these songs? It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the computer, then sync.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone to your computer - File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

I have more than one copy of the same song in my iTunes. Some have the icloud symbol next to them and some do not. I need to clean this up but I am afraid to delete the songs for fear I will lose them.

It won't be a problem if you delete your extra copies.
I don't download very much to my tv, I do sometimes if I'm in bed but usually I do it from itunes. However if you have not fully downloaded something to the tv it is possible to start the download from itunes as well, you have likely activated 'check for downloads fin itunes in some way, could be by opening itunes, selecting 'check or downloads' from the advanced menu or that you simply have automatically check for downloads set in your prefs and it has checked coincidentally.

I had the same problem. Had at least 3 of each song in my library... Here's how I fixed it.
Go on iTunes to your library
Hit Shift and click on View
Scroll down to "show exact duplicate items"
the list will give you all your duplicated songs
Click at the top of the "date added" Column to sort by date added.
Even if it all happened the same day it will group your whole library by date and time added.
The time is the key...
You can start at the begining of you list and scroll to the last song that was added that day and time frame.
Everything after your last song is duplicates.
Highlight the first song hold down shift and scroll down to the last song...
Once they are all highlighted you can hit delete and send them all to the recycle bin.

I moived files either to trash if not needed, and others to other external drives. I went into disk utility and did a repair disk permission and verify disk. Clean out junk files. Now my hdtv/monitor does not give me any sound, nor does my mac mini. Can someone please tell me what to do?
