Lowest volume not low enough

Has anyone else noticed that the lowest volume for listening to music with earbuds is not low enough?  I want the ability to turn it down one or two steps quieter but it will only go OFF from the lowest level.
I was hoping the main volume setting was a master setting but it seems to be the exact same effect as using the control buttons on the side.  The master volume is set all the way over to the left (less one step).  I do not have earbuds with their own volume setting so at the mercy of the BB controls (either on the side or on the screen).
Are there any other ideas?

Yes you read that right. My previous iPod was the Mini. I tend to listen to my iPod at night(it helps me fall asleep) with in-ear earbuds.
With my old Mini I would set it as low as it would go before it was muted. The problem with the Classic is that while the Mini's lowest setting was Mute, the classic won't mute when I turn it all the way down. Is this a feature, or some setting is not configured?

  • Volume - Not loud enough.

My husband and I would like to listen/watch videos without headphones, however, the maximum volume is not loud enough for us to understand some words. Is there a way of increasing the maximum volume output without the use of external speakers or headphones?
    Thanks.

    Open iTunes on your computer---Podcast--->
Pick the Podcast you want to raise the volume--->
    Press the keys...Command+i--->
    Press the Option tab--->
Check the box Volume Adjustment...Set the volume to your liking.
    or set it to 100%
If you want to do all the podcast at one time. Choose all the podcasts at one-time. You can do the same with movies and music too. If you want to adjust the volume to a select few in you library, Seclect All--->Option key and click on the podcasts (video, music) that you want to deselect.

  • Volume not high enough

I looked at the other posts regarding volume levels on the iPhone 4 but I don't see anything that applied to my issue, or offered a suggestion that I could try.
Using the phone in hand-held mode the volume on the phone is okay, not as loud as I'd like but it's doable. However, the issue I do have is when I'm in the car and I plug the phone into a Griffin hands-free kit. The phone sits in a charging cradle and the unit plugs into the cigarette lighter plug. There is a cord to plug into the Aux port on the radio, and the other end of that cord goes into the headset jack. That end of the cord also has a mic. The unit works fine as far as people hearing me. The problem is I can barely hear them. I set the volume control to max but still no help.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

I set the volume control to max but still no help.
I assume you mean the iPhone volume. I have to ask the obvious... turn your radio volume up?

  • IPad speaker volume not loud enough

It seems to me that my iPad (latest model / software as of this date) speaker volume could be louder.  Other family members have the new Mini's and they have much more volume, as do our iPhones.  Is there a way to increase or improve the speaker volume on the iPad?
    Thanks!

I have yet to receive my ipad 2 yet, but I'm sure the physical design of the case has something to do with it.
The ipad 1 emits to the side, where as ipad 2 emits toward the back. Movies have a very dynamic volume range compared to music, and I've found even on the ipad 1 that the volume could be louder, especially if there's existing ambient noise.
If I didn't have my earbuds, I would cup the speaker with my hand to direct the sound foward... not sure how well that would work with the ipad 2.

  • Call volume not loud enough!

When I make/answer calls, I can barely hear the other end, only when im in a quiet room is it perfectly clear...also when i am listening to the ipod part, when a call comes through I realllllly cant hear the caller. is there a setting I can adjust? Or is it my phone thats acting up? I just got it last week!

  • Make the lowest volume even quieter?

How can I make the lowest volume level on my iMac even quieter than it is at the moment? The volume settings are usually fine for normal use, but sometimes I want to plug in my earphones to the iMac, and have some music playing very quietly in the background while I work. I'd like for the volume to be so low that I can barely hear it, basically.
Is there an app or something that can allow me to do this?
I know that there's a hidden feature where if you put the volume to the lowest level, then hit the mute button, the volume will reach an "ultra-low" volume level, but this is still not low enough for me. Also, I know that it's possible to decrease the volume at quarter-notch intervals, but again that still doesn't do the trick.
Thanks in advance to anyone with an answer to this problem!

I think Spark assinging a key or key combo to a execute a script would do what you want...

      set volume output volume 50

my note book volume not enough. what can i do give me a sollution

    Hi,
One thing can help is the following.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.  Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.  Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.  Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all.

  • Lowest volume still too loud

I frequently listen to my iPod nano while doing other things. However, the lowest volume setting is still too loud for background music. Can that setting be changed?
    iPod Nano   Windows XP

Just to clarify...is it just the background that is too loud, or is it the whole volume output. I mean, is the background taking over the song, or is the volume simply not going low enough?
If the background is taking over the song, check the Equalizer in the Settings. Turn it to the Off setting. If that doesn't work, Restore the iPod.
Actually, for both problems try a Restore (after the EQ thing).
I hope this helps and post back!

  • Volume Too Low on Some Headpho

I know the volume issue has been beaten to death. I bought my Zen Touch player in Canada, not in Europe. I have noticed that with the earbuds that came with the player, and with a pair of Panasonic headphones that came with a CD player I bought, the volume is fine for me.
However, I've borrowed a heavy duty pair of Sennheiser HD570 from my roomie, I have it on max volume and it's not loud enough. If I tweak around with the EQ as Creative suggests, I get a lot of distortion.
Keeping in mind I don't have an EU version of the player or EU firmware, is there any other way to increase the volume of this sucker? I'm sure it's just a software issue, so why can't those good people at Creative create a little patch with a bunch of code making the volume louder. Or failing that, is there some way to increase the volume on the Mp3s themselves?
If nothing can be done, can anyone suggest a quality pair of non-earbud headphones that won't be too quiet. I've had my eye on a pair of Sennheiser PX-00s but I don't wanna buy an expensi've set and them have them be quiet on me.

"Large headphones might well be a problem as an MP3 player might not have enough power to dri've them."
It is not the impedence or the size of the headphones, but the efficiency of the headphones that is most important, even though the built in amp will probably deli'ver more power into a lower impedence.
The Sony V6(full sized closed headphones) is also 64 ohms, yet is very efficient and can be dri'ven adequately with almost any portable. Its efficiency is 06 db/mw. The Sennheiser HD570 is quite ineficient at only 95 db/mw.
The Sony V6 is also sold under the model number 7506. The 7506 has a gold plated plug though. Otherwise they are identical. The 7506 is around $00, while the V6 is around $70. The 7506 has been a favorite headphone of radio stations and tv production for many years. It has deep bass that is not boomy or overexaggerated and natural sounding highs. As with all closed headphones, it might tend to make ones ears feel hot. One other thing about the V6. It has a straight plug, so one should use a right angle plug Y cord or right angle plug headphone extension cord and plug the straight plug of the V6 into that and not directly into the player in order to protect the jack on the player.

  • GT70 Microphone Volume too low

I am experiencing low microphone volume even when "Level" is set to 100% and boost set max (30). I have tried lots of suggestions from the web but no luck so far. When I remove the RealTek HD Audio Manager drivers, it gets a little better but still not loud enough for the other party to hear me well. Any help would be appreciated.

This may or may not work, but it did for my CR600.
Download the Realtek Semiconductor Corp. High Definition Audio System Software Ver: R2.19.
After installing this driver perform a Driver update and let windows download the newest driver.  This now works setting microphone to 100% and boost to 20%.  Also when a microphone is plugged in it pops up a new Information screen on the task system icon screen in lower right ReakTek HD Audio Manager.

  • Microphone voice of iPhone4 is not loud enough

I call to my parents yesterday, but they complained the voice was not loud enough.
Version is 5.11, I bought it in Apple.com 18 September.

    - Go to Settings>Sound and see if a Sound Limit is set. I
Make sure it is at max
    - EU has recently required that devices like the iPod limit volume lower to preserve hearing. Thee is no way to raise that limit.  USA and other placs to not have that limit. The limit is locked to a unique identifier on the iPod like SN so restoring does not remove it.

  • HT1918 the tone is not loud enough on my i pod

My tone is not loud enough on my i pod and i can not make it louder.

I´m using same config, MBA rocksmith cable and Mic powered by a (singleAA baterry) Ive tried recording in Quicktime (more or less noise, good volume), audacity(way too low volume) SoundtrackPro (same low volume), GARAGEBAND (lot better volume and very decent recording, great presets and much better export options!
when you listen your recording on garageband it will sound LOW volume, im using mac headphones almost at max vol, maybe it lowers the volume so there is no feedback,... BUT whe you export to file and open it on Soundtrack or quicktime VOALA! normal voice recording is hitting 0dbs, so that gives me chance to lower down to -12dbs after doing my edits.
Use GARAGEBAND to recrod voice, or any other intrument, works great with Rocksmith USB cable, mic does require use of AA battery.
Busting my head with this for hrs until I tried Garageband.
    good luck.

  • Some songs volume seems low

    Hello,
just got the new 30Gb iPod and some of the song's volume won't go very high
I put it all the way up but it's probably not loud enough for a busy train or next to the highway where there's ;lots of ambienmt noise. Other songs are really loud , so what's happening?

This sounds like a problem with the recorded files.
Your best method is to run all of these files through MacMP3Gain, a graphical Mac OSX interface to the MP3Gain/AACGain software. It is best to make a playlist with your entire library in it, and use the program to process that playlist.
If you find that the volume is not loud enough, you may want to increase the target value to above 89dB. About 100dB should be your maximum, as distortion will occur above this level.
You can use iTunes' built in Sound Check feature, but this is probably inappropriate as it tends to reduce the volume of the louder files to match the level of the lower files. Some people have reported horrible distortion using this function also.
