LP 10 support scala tuning files with more than 12 notes? Does it support octaves larger or smaller than 2/1?

LP 9 limits the amount of notes in an octave to 12 and the octaves must be 2/1 as far as I know.
This makes using exotic scales like 31tet or Wendy Carlos Alpha/Beta/Gamma scales impossible.
The only reason I'd upgrade to LP 10 at this point is if they've fixed that... and the many bugs in LP 9.

The main issue you are having is that you are using a 32 bit OS. The memory limitations for a 32 bit OS is 4G. If memory is serving me, the way linux allocates memory in a 4 GB system is that it divides it into 4 different chunks. 1G for the kernel, 1G for user processes (aka database instance), 1G for libaries, and the last G I can't remember right now. In essense you have 1G of memory to play with for user processes. You can relink the oracle executables to load lower into memory to give you more space for user apps, but I think the limit here is somewhere around 1.8G. To use more than 4G of memory you need to use either hugemem, or I believe there is another method. You would need to look at the RH doc on how to do this. Is it an option to use the 64bit version of RH? This would eliminate this problem altogether.

Is there a way to open CSV files with more than 255 columns?

I have a CSV file with more than 255 columns of data. It's a fairly standard export of social media data that shows volume of posts by day for the past year, from which I can analyze the data and publish customized charts. Very easy in Excel but I'm hitting the Numbers limit of 255 columns per table. Is there a way to work around the limitation? Perhaps splitting the CSV in two? The data shows up in the CSV file when I open via TextEdit, so it's there. Just can't access it in Numbers. And it's not very usable/useful for me in TextEdit.

You might be better off with Excel. Even if you could find a way to easily split the CSV file into two tables, it would be two tables when you want only one. You said you want to make charts from this data. While a series on a chart can be constructed from data in two different tables, to do so takes a few extra steps for each series on the chart.
For a test to see if you want to proceed, make two small tables with data spanning the tables and make a chart from that data. Make the chart the normal way using the data in the first table then repeat the following steps for each series
Select the series in the chart
Go to Format sidebar
Click in the "Value" box
Add a comma then select the data for this series from the second chart
Press Return
If there is an easier way to do this, maybe someone else will chime in with that info.

I know how to merge multiple Excel files in a folder using M (those guides are all over the web) but how do I merge multiple Excel files with multiple (yet identically named and ordered) tabs? Surely it is possible? I just don't know how to do it in M.

What Laurence says is correct, and probably the best thing to do when the sheets have differing structures. Here is an alternate approach that works well when the sheets all have the same structure.
When you first open the Excel file from Power Query, you can see its structure in the navigator at the right-hand-side of the screen. If you select the root (which is the filename itself) and click Edit, you'll see all the tabs in the sheet as a single table.
You can now do filtering based on the Name, Item and Kind values. When you've reduced the set of things down to the sheets you want, select the Data column and say "Remove Other Columns". If the sheets don't have any header rows, you can just click the expand
icon in the header and you'll be done.
Otherwise, if the sheets have headers or if some other kind of sheet-level transformation is required against each sheet before doing a merge, you'll have to write some M code manually. In the following example, each sheet has a header row consisting of
two columns: Foo and Bar. So the only step I need to perform before merging is to promote the first row into a header. This is done via the Table.TransformColumns operation.

Is Adobe reader touch for windows 8 support interactive PDF files with multi media contents like SWF

I have many PDF files with SWF content i try Adobe reader X but it is slow, so i try Adobe reader touch for windows 8 but the SWF doesn't work.

The full featured Reader for Windows 8 is Reader XI.
Reader Touch works in all Windows 8 systems BUT it is intended mainly for use in mobile tablets - I see no particular reason to use it unless you can'r run Reader XI. Given it is mainly for use on mobile that can't use Flash, we aren't likely to ever see the development team spending their time on this.
If you want the latest and greatest - at least try Reader XI, not X! (Flash is a separate download, it will prompt).

Question on PDF files with linked images (not embedded) between Reader and Illustrator

I run into situations when I get customer PDFs that need to be edited. When they load in Acrobat Reader it works fine. However if I load it into Illustrator it asks me to point it to the linked file. The question is how does Acrobat Reader open a PDF file and show a linked file when it is not embedded? Why can't Illustrator do the same thing?

For linked images, your PDF file contains a thumbnail image along with the reference or address of the actual image. Reader will display this thumbnail. Now, wanting to edit the PDF in Illustrator, it wants to enable you working on the actual image. Hence it asks you to point to the linked file.

Printing PDF files with smb/cups not possible // SLPReg status -20!

i am running SAMBA 3.6.1-1 and CUPS 1.5.0-1 on a dedicated system. Printer: Canon Pixma IP4500 (USB).
The problem is that all Windows 7 clients are not able to print PDF files (since few months) on that printer while printing these files with Linux software is no problem. The PDF files are neither encrypted nor forbidden to print.
I tried to print with Adobe Acrobat Reader X (latest) and Foxit Reader. Both are preparing the pages to be printed and close their printing dialog after processing. Windows printing queue does not show any jobs (which it even does not when printing simple images with MS Paint, which is not a problem).
Windows systems are using the Canon Inkjet 4500 and Canon iP 4500 driver (manually installed). Printing images works with both drivers.
I searched for "SLPReg […] failed with status -20!" but found no helpful information.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the hard drive data is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the optical drive.
Once it has finished booting and you are at the Install screen launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then select the First Aid Tab run Repair Disk and if that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

it supports EJB 2.0.
When I built the bean(2.0 not 1.1) using local interfaces: EJBLocalObject and
EJBLocalHome, they are successfully built fine, but when I deploy the Application
they failed because of my interfaces did not "extends" EJBObject and EJBHome and
java.rmi.RemoteException is required.
When I extends the local interfaces the java.rmi.RemoteException will not be
thrown (it is local)so it is not required but the weblogic 6.1 said it is required
so I wonder the BEA WebLogic 6.1 sp2 supports the local interface.
If it doesn't support Local interface, How could I do to get arround with this
because Local interface is one of the new feature that talks in j2sdkee 1.3 with
ejb2.0.

Problems with text in iWeb publishing much larger, or smaller than in iWeb (it is insane)!

More than a year ago I had a problem with my iWeb not publishing correctly: links to other websites would not open in a separate window as designed in iWeb. I got help from an AppleCare techie and after he did a lot of tests, he concluded I had a corrupted Domain file (which became apparent after I upgraded to OS Snow Leopard). I don't remember if I discussed with this techie another problem I had been having for as long as I had used iWeb, and that was "exploding" text: certain words, often italicized, would be huge, after publishing, relative to the surrounding text. Sometimes certain words, or sentences would be smaller than designed in iWeb. Through trial and error I would sort of solve these problems by enlarging text boxes, or making the offending word or phrase one text point smaller. Sometimes deleting the text box entirely, and starting over would work. And then there are the weird things that happen when my wife opens my website in Internet Explorer: things that make no sense and seem to be totally out of my control.
So, I've spent a long time rebuilding my website in this supposedly uncorrupted Domain file, and today I finally finished and published to my hard drive, checked it out, and the "exploding" text is there with a vengeance. So much so that I may just stick with my original ("corrupted") Domain file, the text problem on this new one seems even worse than the old one. Anyone had this problem? I meant to ask this question years ago, but got a bit lazy.
Another question is: I've heard Apple is going to discontinue iWeb. Despite my problems with the program, I rely on it. What are the options going to be for iWeb users?

Well you heard wrong didn't you!
Apple is discontinuing MobileMe, which is the hosting in favour of iCloud services which will not contain any hosting.
iWeb is an app and as far as we know you can still continue to use it - it will still work so carry on using it if you are happy with it.
If you want to look at other alternatives to iWeb, then others suggest RapidWeaver and Sandvox as being closer to iWeb - both are available via the Mac App store.
Also Freeway Express and Flux 3 are worth looking at - more design freedom and you are not restricted to templates as with RapidWeaver.

Support for DNG files with lens corrections?

Aperture 3.0.1 with the RAW Compatibility Update 3.1 now supports the lens corrections in my Olympus E-P1's native RAW format. yay!
unfortunately, since Aperture didn't support the camera for six months, I began a switch to Lightroom. consequently, I now have several thousand images that have been converted from the EP-1's native RAW format (ORF) to Adobe's so-called open RAW format (DNG). these DNGs don't load in Aperture (RAW format unsupported errors) because Aperture doesn't support DNGs with lens corrections.
Apple, can you please advise if lens corrections you support in native RAW files will also be supported in DNG conversions sometime soon? if so, I'll know it's safe to switch back to Aperture and recover the last six months of photos when the next RAW Compatibility Update happens.

Aperture 3.0.1 with the RAW Compatibility Update 3.1 does not support lens corrections. If you want lens corrections in Aperture you have to use Plugins like PTlens.
To my knowledge Aperture ignores all lens correction data in the original RAW files, just like it does with all the settings of the camera.

Attach xls file with more than 255 chars

I'm trying to send an .xls file as attachement whose row contains more than 255 chars with FM 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1'.
When preparing the attached table, I tried to separate the tables like this:
loop at itab.
concatenate itab-col_1 itab-col_2 itab-col_3 into it_attach
    separted by cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab.
append it_attach.
concatenate itab-col_4 itab-col_5 itab-col_6 into it_attach
    separted by cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab.
append it_attach.
concatenate IT_ATTACH cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline into it_attach.
append it_attach.
endloop.
I am able to send this xls as attachment, but when open it in excel/notepad,
it is so strange that there are so many spaces before the contents itab-col_4 which is unexpected.
It is expected that the file is tab-delimited with continuous column 1-6.

I tried the first method to convert the byte to string, but a short dumps is resulted,
DATA: con_tab TYPE x,
           sep TYPE string.

so I use back my original method to concatenate the columns as suggested, i.e.

but the outcome is still the same, i.e. ...many leading space before itab-col_4

Supporting RWL Leica files with LR

I have LR 5.3.
I can work without any problem on RWL (Raw) files from my Leica D-Lux 6 on my PC/Windows7.
LR 5.3 doesn't recognise these RWL files on my Mac with OSX 10.8.
Has somebody a solution ?

Commons Net - List files with more than a wildcard "*" in path

Hello everybody!
I�m starting to use commons net library in a java project, and I have this doubt: I need to list files in a ftp server, for instance, like this �action*/slot*-qual*.txt�
i.e., I want to list all the files like �slot (something) � qual (something) .txt�, in all directories beginning with �action (something)�.
When I put this path in a variable named �path� and pass it to the listFiles method, it returns me a list of zero files. But, for instance, if I only pass the path �action*�, the listFiles returns me all the directories beginning with �action�, like action01, action02, etc. The same happens if I pass only �slot*-qual*.txt�, giving me all the files that respect the command, within a certain directory, like slot1-qual101010.txt, slot2-qual10.txt, slot3-qual1.txt, etc.
So, there�s must me a method to do this kind of listing, isn�t it? Is it possible to list the files like this?
If I put the command �ls action*/slot*-qual*.txt� in an ftp client that I use, I get the correct list that I need, so it works like this!
