LP9 upgrade hangs while reading XSKey

I have Logic Pro 6 and I'm trying to upgrade to Logic Studio 2 (Logic Pro 9).
I have my blue Emagic XSKey dongle which works fine to launch and run LP6. The XSKey shows up under USB in the System Profiler. All looks fine.
However, when I run the upgrade, after I enter the new LS2 serial number, if the XSKey is not yet plugged in it goes to the screen asking for the old serial number or XSKey. When I plug it in and hit "OK" the installer hangs forever with a beach ball! (I once even waited for a very long time to see if anything happens) The Activity Monitor shows it as not responding.
If I have the XSKey plugged in in advance, it hangs even before going to the next screen.
*PLEASE HELP!!!*
If I take the XSKey out while hanging, it wakes up from the dead and shows me the message: *+"Your Logic XSKey is not eligible for this upgrade. Please refer to the upgrade requirements for details."+*
Again, this message did not show up while the XSKey was inserted, only when it was removed.
Some more detils: I'm using a G5 (new Intel MBP 15" will come soon to replace it).
Also, I bought Logic 6 with some University discount (still paid $700 for it!), but it doesn't seem like I got any Academic version - this looks like a regular release. I'm not even sure there was an Academic version at the time of Logic 6 (was there? And if yes, are Apple aware of the Emagic Academic XSKey serial numbers?)
Finally, after I bought Logic 6 I didn't use it until 2 years later. At that time there was no way for me to register Logic 6 with Apple as they didn't have a way to register Logic 6 and Emagic's registration no longer existed. I was told this shouldn't be a problem.
What troubles me is the fact that the installation completely hangs while the XSKey is plugged in. If I were really not legible for an upgrade I would expect to get this message right away with no hangs.
Any help here would be strongly appreciated. What causes it to hang and what should I do to fix this?
Thanks!

Thanks immo. Actually I failed to mention in my original post that I also already tried the XSKey updater and it didn't complain of any problem. It looked for an updated firmware online and returned saying there is no newer version. So that part looks fine as well.
Thanks David as well.
But does anybody know if there even was an Academic version at the time of Logic Pro 6?
I will try this again next week on the new Intel MBP 15" I'm going to get and then I'll know if the issue is because of the G5 or the XSKey. For sure I would expect it not to hang.
Thanks.
Logic Pro 6 - yes on the academic version, and as far as I know the dongles looked the same (dark blue)
Also, you do have the original serial number? You probably are better off using that instead of the XSKey.
Please DO call Apple on this, they do have the Emagic database of original owners, so if you had yours registered with Emagic when you bought it, it should be in the Apple system. Mine was, and I've been in since 4.8.1

(java.lang.RuntimePermission modifyThreadGroup)This is the problem....the way it looks ot me, you'll have to use something like policytool to add the following target names to the RunTime Permissions:
    modifyThread
    modifyThreadGroup
If you don't know how to do that, check out the Tutorial on Security or type policytool in the upper right corner of this page and click search.
    Good Luck!

  • I am using a Mac Book Pro. Now I am trying to read a LaCie 1 TB external hard disk. The MacBook Pro hangs while reading the LaCie external hard disk.

I am using a MacBook Pro. I have my movies stored on a Lacie 1 TB external USB harddrive. (42 Movies in HD - 538 Gb in use). When I try to read the LaCie external drive, my MacBook Pro is "hanging". Only a "hard reboot" helps to get my MacBook Pro up and running again. The MacBook Pro starts to read the drive, but half way he "stucks". I can read the LaCie drive without any problem om my windows machines, so the LaCie drive is O.K. Anyone familiar with this problem?

The drive is formatted NFTS, otherwise the drive can not handle large files under Windows. And yes, I can see the drive in Disk Utility.
I can even see the files (partly) untill my system is hanging.

  • Weblogic 6.0 : Server hangs while reading a https request

    Hi,
I'm running WLS6.0 on Win2000. The server hangs for some requests sent over https,
unless it times out. It seems that the server is not able to read the complete request
from the socket. It somehow thinks that there is more data available and keeps on
    waiting. Is this a bug?
Also, it works fine if i change the url from a https to a http one. So, is this
related to SSL implementation of weblogic?
Has any of faced a similar problem? Thanks in advance for any ideas/thoughts on this
    problem,
    Thakur.

    Hi,
I'm running WLS6.0 on Win2000.
Thanks in advance for any ideas/thoughts on this
    problem,
    Thakur.

Your iphone has been hacked and was locked back to the rightful carrier when updated.
ONLY the carrier to which it is locked can legally/legitimately unlock an iphone.
Your "brother from New Dehli" hacked the iphone.
Hacked iphones cannot be discussed here.  It also voids the warraanty.

  • LP9 Upgrade won't install-- rejects XSKey

I'm trying to ugrade from LP7 to LP9, but am getting the following error message during the install:
"+Your Logic XSKey is not eligible for this upgrade. Please refer to the upgrade requirements for details.+"
My copy of LP7 is not the Academic and Not-For-Resale (NFR) versions. I am trying to install LP9 on my macbook which does not currently have any version of Logic on it. I have been told, however, that this is not an issue and that LP9 will install on the machine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hmmm, interesting....
I was also told by apple's pro application support this morning that one can't install LP9 upgrade discs on a mac that has a previously upgraded copy of Logic on it and that people had to enter the original serial number for the very first version of Logic they bought. Obviously this can't be right so I have no idea what to make of any of this.

  • EHPI installer: Error while reading a dynpro. Stuck at Start Shadow First.

    Hi Everyone,
I am dead in the water with my test install of EhP5 using the most current installer.  This small test is on an older iseries, V5R4 with 8G memory. The SAP version is ECC 6.0 at sp Basis  23 and Applications at 19.
The install stops at Start Shadow First, but the instance and work processes are up on the server.   The log- SAPehpiConsole reads:
Severe error(s) occured in phase MAIN_SHADOW/START_SHDI_FIRST!
Last error code set: RFC call to upg_is_shadow_system failed with key
RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE (open): Error while reading a dynpro
Please refer to these logs in the posted replys following this post for readability.
The shadow system work process wp01 log showsan RFC error as follows:

So I have a problem communicating with the shadow. Or is it a problem with the db_open?
From the test system I have an entry in SM59 to the shadow and I get this error when trying a connection test.
Error Details     Error while reading a dynpro.
And trying to logon to the client sends the same message, it does not bring up the login screen.
OK. So in the 3 weeks that I have restarted, re-set and completely restored and restarted the install, I have always come to this point. I have search for similar issues and have done a review of pertinent notes etcu2026    Just as a comment, last year I successfully did the Ehp 4 upgrade without many problems on this same system using last years SAP system.   In the month that I have been trying to do this,  SAP has replaced the EHPI installer 3 times which indicates some problems on their part.
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Application hangs while trying to create a socket

    Hello,
We have a third party application that makes HTTP connections using a old version of HTTPClient. Recently we have run into problems where the application hangs as one thread seems to hang while trying to create a socket (thread dumps show the hang occurs in native code) and other threads end up waiting for this thread as they need to obtain a lock on HTTPClient.HTTPConnection. We found out that HTTPClient was not setting a timeout on the underlying socket (SO_TIMEOUT) and the relevant patch has been implemented in the hope that if the condition arises again the offending thread will be timed out and allow other threads to try and continue.
We will not be able to see if the patch works until Monday and I would like to understand the problem a little better if it fails. My question at what point will the socket timeout starting ticking? As our offending thread is waiting in native code is there a chance that the timeout will not be "active".
Also can anyone provide reasons for an application hanging while trying to create a socket and any suggestions for monitoring or mitigating this problem?
    Thanks a lot.
    Sun Solaris 5.8
    JDK 1.4.1 b02

It looks like our version of the JDK offer a connect method with a timeout value, I think this will do the trick.

  • JVM hangs while executing  a sql query

My JVM hangs while I try to execute an update query. I am using JDBC thin client and Oracle 9i as database. Can someone please suggest what could be wrong.

I have a serious problem regarding the usage of Prepared Statement.
I am working on J2EE based application with the application server as Oracle 9ias.We have mostly used Prepared in 0ur queries. But one our application got implemented we are facing some strange problems. The first instance was a web page was getting hanged and does not give any results. But this had worked fine in all our testing environment. We analysed the table which it uses and still no result. Finally we changed prepared statement to statement and the result page came within seconds.
The second instance is the main issue.Again a query is getting hanged when we try to process it through the web page.We again tested it by converting from prepared statement to statement and its coming within seconds.
Can someone give me some input. Is there any databse parameter that is controlling this prepared statement or statement.

  • Timeout error while reading and updating in batches in a single transaction

    Problem:-
In a transaction I do read and update to the database in batches. First batch it runs fine and for second batch it get hanged at
sqlCommand.ExecuteReader(). The following is not my complete code but required bits of it which will give more information about the problem. At the end of this post please find the error log. Please help me.
    My guess:-
The problem i see here is with the locks acquired while reading and update still remain when it comes for the second batch which is blocking the next read. But could not find a way to solve it.
    Get connection and open it.
    Begin Transaction.
    sqlUpdateTransaction = sqlUpdateConnection.BeginTransaction(String.Format("UpdateUsageDetailTransaction{0}", storageClassId))

    return cdrList;
Update the records to the list by using a loop Go and check if the number of records read is equal to the batch size then write and flush.
    update()

  • An error occurred while reading document

    Hello all,
First let me apologize for the lengthy post, but I want to be clear.  :-). Ever since I upgraded my iPad 2 to the newest iOS 8 release, I have had issues with my tablet.  It is running slower, as I type this out there is a delay with the press of each letter.  I have to wait until each letter is typed before moving on to the next section when filling out forms for example.  Openings apps has also been slower and several apps have crashed unexpectedly.  While visiting websites the connection is also slower and while searching for items on Google, the search results are listed but when I try to click on one of the items, not happens.  The links are not available but they are listed.  I have to switch to another app or refresh the page or sometimes both in order to be able to click on one of the results.
But the most annoying issue is that I cannot open attachments up from my iOS email now.  Before I was able to open the attachment and see a preview of the attachment whether it is word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.  I would then open that attachment in my word processing app to edit or open the file in a pdf converter for publication,    But now when I get an attachment and try to open it from iOS mail, I get a blank page with the document file name and "Microsoft Word 97-2014 document" and the size of the document.  These files are files that I edited in a word processing app, CouldOn, which I then email to myself so that I may get the file into my pdf converter app.  I have done this several times before the upgrade now.
I also tried to open the file in my pdf converter app even tho it was not showing in the iOS Mail preview, but then I get an error message stating "An error has occurred while reading the document".
This is really frustrating.  I have googled my issues but didn't really refined any solutions,  I did find some others had similar issues but they were with other previous versions of iOS, not the one I have now.  Can anyone help me out here?  This has basically caused my work to stop, if I cannot be sure that attachments are not going to have any issues when they are sent to clients, then I cannot send them,  I need to get this fixed ASAP.  Has anyone else had these issues?

Adding to above, I have latest update for Pages. I can open documents on my iPad that are not locked. But now, I can't get to the "lock" buttons to unlock it.  On my Mac, iCloud and share document is on.

  • The upgrade hangs a lot of time in phase PARCONV_UPG, SHADOW_IMPORT_UPG2..

    Hello!!:
I'm doing the CU&UC, as say the Guide, and now i'm upgrading my 46C MDMP system to Ecc6.0 nounicode (later i'm going to
    do the unicode).
In the phases RUN_RADCUCNT_ALL, SHADOW_IMPORT_UPG2,....has been a lot of time.
In the Note OSS 558197 - upgrade hangs in PARCONV_UPG, XPRAS_UPG, SHADOW_IMPORT_UPG2, there is a solution
for a Oracle Database, but we have MSSQL2005 in a Windows Server.
In this moment in our DB we have applied as say the Note OSS 187493 - DB13 jobs 'Check table Consistency'
and 'Update statistics', and sometimes in the biggest tables we apply the Note OSS ‘771352 - Manual UPDATE STATISTICS
    re-enables Disabled Automatic Stats’
Can you help us? In this moment the upgrade downtime is 48 hours (and we haven't yet done some phases of the
    upgrade)
    Thanks an regards,
    Alfredo.

    Alfredo,
Here is the down and skinny on this - PARCONV_UPG can be addressed with ICNV (Incremental Table Conversion) which you can run during the 'Up' Time of the upgrade.  Of course there are some limitations put on you when using this solution but it will help to reduce your down-time windows be pre-converting tables during up-time.  Those tables that are not converted in ICNV will have to be converted during down-time during  the PARCONV_UPG phase so I am pretty sure that your database is getting its (stuff here....) handed to it.
As a 'suggestion' and not a rule here (because it effects recovery of SQL Databases) you can look at using Bulk Logged or Simple Logged modes if your system is using Full-Logged mode to speed things up a bit (actually quite a bit if Full-Logged is enabled).
As for the SHADOW_IMPORT_UPG2 - this is mostly going to be tp putting things in the system and some compiling - the speed of the Db and the processors play a big impact in this.  You can watch the SLOG in the upgrade directory to check this out (look in your upgrade guide for Log Files during this phase to get their names and locations) to see if anything is hanging but I would probably expect not much is going on.
Overall you need to identify the bottleneck first - CPU, Memory, Db I/O, a number of things can contribute to your issues of slow upgrade time - as I would have to agree with SAP that there is nothing wrong with the Upgrade Process (except that you can take advantage of things like ICNV where possible - read the upgrade guide and hit the notes and help first!!).  Everything else is going to be your setup and how it reacts to the different activities in the upgrade.
So check those out first - let us all know what you come up with and hopefully we can fix your problem directly and quickly.

We have Adobe Connect 8 (Multilanguage - Portuguese) installed on a server. Connect Mobile for RIM Blackberry Playbook hangs while trying to connect to the server. Hayward Drummond has posted a notice about Adobe Connect 8.1.2 that seems to solve this problem, known as BUG 2886745. I sucessfuly downloaded this update but I´m not sure if it is compatible with Adobe Connect 8 Multilanguage - Portuguese.  Does anyone know something about it? I also need to first install version 8.1.1 in order to upgrade to 8.1.2, as remarked by Hayward. Does anyone know where can I download version 8.1.1 (Multlanguage - Portuguese)?
