Lpd printer error "Unsupported colorspace = -1."

I cannot get my printer work on Mac, it works from windows.  It's on the network setup as lpd connection.  I get an error "Unsupported colorspace = -1."  Any ideas?
Printer Epson Stylus Photo RX600
Right now it's connected to my wireless router (it has USB ports and acts as a print server)
I also tried accessing it as a windows shared printer when it was directly connected to another windows computer but same error occured.
Yes I just got this Mac and I'm Mac stupid.
Thanks

OK I got it to work.
All instructions online from printer manufacturer, print server, etc are wrong.
What I had to do:
System Preferences > Print & Scan
Add a printer
Right click to add the Advanced icon to the toolbar
Advanced
Type = LPD/LPR Host or Printer
Leave device as another device
Enter lpd://ipaddress of print server/lpdservername
Enter name and location of printer
Here's the key, let it auto select the printer, if I select the epson printer it doesn't work, it autoselects Generic PostScript Printer and all works.
Hope this helps if anyone is having the same issue.

I don't think Lion installed it, rather you did. That said System Preferences>Print & Scan. select your Epson printer and then select Options & Supplies>Driver>Print Using>Select print Software. Then scroll down to the driver you want to use.

  • What is:  "-1 unsupported colorspace" (Printer  Message)

I tried to print from my MacBook Air (OS 10.8.2), after I had just down loaded and installed the latest driver for my
Epson RX 580 Printer from Apple.
I am connected via USB Ethernet to my PowerMac (OS 10.4.11) desktop, which is connected to my desktop Epson RX580
    printer/scanner via USB.
Both printing and scanning work fine from the PowerMac, which still has the original Epson driver and software installed.
When I tried printing fom the MacBook Air the RX 580 Monitor appeared the dock and opened, showing an error message:
"-1 unsupported colorspace", and its progress bar was running diagonal stripes indicating no progress.
What do I need to do to solve this?
(I was trying to print in black and white, and had not even asked for any color printing - the new software update from Apple
does not give me a window for selection of color, colorsync, color adjustments, etc. all of which were possible with my old
    PowerMac and its printer software.)

The fact it worked before doesn't mean there was no bug in it... I've seen program that worked for years that started to crash just because a new environment variable was defined. That program always messed the environment variable but it didn't mess anything he needed until that new variable was added to the environment. The programmers had hard time to beleive such an unrelated change can cause such a huge effect on their program... So... you must have a bug in your native code... try to find were :)

  • Unsupported 'colorspace' when printing from Mac?

I've just gone through the huge debacle of connecting my new Mac laptop to a shared computer, and then, when I go to print the document, nothing happens, so, I go into the print queue, and it has a loading bar, then it says 'unsupported colorspace = -1',

I'm attempting to connect a MacBook Pro laptop to an Epson Stylus Photo R1900 printer that is connected to my Windows 7 Professional PC (64 bit). I've gone from "awaiting authentication error" to finally being able to at least install the printer. Now, it's "unsupported colorspace." When I checked the details of the print job, I saw it's set to CMYK for a simple text document. There is no option allowing me to get to the printer settings to change it. If anybody can help, please post an answer. Thanks!

  • Canon IR-Adv 5045 printing error 'Filter' failed

I just upgrade our office to include 7 new Mac Pro towers and one iMac. All of the towers had no problems when upgrading the print drivers for our Canon printer.  The iMac (only) returns a print error and will not print to the device. If anyone can read the error code in the consule and direct me how to fix the error I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Why getting printer errors with Lion

Since getting my new computer with Lion, when I print to my Lexmark laser printer, I keep very briefly getting an error in the printer queue of "Printer does not support IPP/2.0. trying IPP/1.1". The pages do print after the error message.
The laser has the latest printer firmware update from Lexmark and I have the latest printer drivers from Apple.
I am assuming Lion is implementing new printing protocols that aren't recognized by the printers. Even behind the curve Adobe products give the same message, so would appear it is the OS that is calling for IPP/2.0, not the software. The error doesn't appear with the software running under Snow Leopard partition.

Same problem with Mountain Lion, with latest driver from App store. Mountain Lion automatically chooses the driver.
Easiest fix appears to be to select the default or highest priority protocol at the printer's web page. Bonjour will then automatically use that protocol instead of IPP.
See Apple fix for Windows - which recommends LPD Printing (BINPS) or 9100 Printing. I read that 9100 RAW uses HP JetDirect Socket.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2236
My HP CP4025DN supports many incoming protocols, just not IPP/2.0. If IPP is chosen in the printer as highest priorotyprotocol, then that's what Bonjour installs.

  • HP LASERJET CP1525nw print error when printing online Gmail emails with Google Chrome

HP LASERJET CP1525nw print error when printing online Gmail emails with Google Chrome. Extra large font sizes and weird formatting issues only when printing emails from Gmail within Chrome. No problems when printing the same email from Gmail+Internet Exolorer or Thunderbird. Using the IE Tab extension in Chrome prints the email correctly but the style of Gmail's message window is completely weird ie: formatting bar is spread out vertically instead of horizontally. I believe it is clear that this is an application specific issue between the HP LASERJET CP1525nw printer and Google Chrome + Gmail. This printing scenario does not occur when printing anything else or when printing via another printer. I would appreciate receiving any suggestions to solve this issue.
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    Browser: Google Chrome 15
HP Print driver: HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 v5.4.0
Printer is connected by WiFi to 4 computers

    Hi AbZu,
You need to contact Google Chromes technical support as this is only an issue with Chrome. You have indicated that the printer functions correctly everywhere else. Check out the link below for Google Chrome technical support. Let me know if you need additional assistance?

  • "Print Error Whilst Printing" when trying to print or save as PDF

I don't understand why i can't just print - everytime it says Print error whilst printing whether i'm actually trying to save it or print it. I'm very new to using Macs - 3 days now so not used to how they work yet but i'm running Tiger 10.4.8 on an Intel Mac if anyone can help me please!

Hello Dorin and thank you for your answer.
Yes page 5 is a double page spread and this is not the only one in my book! I will modify the page 5 to see if the error message will appear at the next double page spread....
    Thanks again

  • HP Envy 4500 All in One - Printer Error - not finishing print job / non-specific error code

Help - my new HP ENVY 4500 AIO (less 3 months old) has never completed a print job if it is over 1 page. I'm connected wirelessly, and not sure if there is an interruption in the wireless connection or if this is defect in the  printer. I receive a message "Printer Error - HP ENVY cancelling print job" and that's it. It will usually happen when it's on the last page of a small print job or half way thru a large (10+ page) of a print job.  Any suggestions? I've downloaded HP Print/Scan Dr - it didn't find any issues.

I had the same issue. Got in contact with HP customer service and the first person that helped had no idea how to fix it.  Got in contact with someone else and they found the issue right away. I had it connected through the wrong port.
First find out what the IP address of your printer is. You can do this by pressing the small wifi button on the front of your printer and it will show the IP address.
Then what you'll have to do is go to the start menu of your computer and search for "Devices and Printers".
Click that and a screen will open. Look for your printer an right click.
Click "Printer Properties" and a new screen will open.
Along the top you will see a few tabs. Click the one that says "Ports"
    Click "Add Port"
Highlight "Standard TCP/IP Port" by clicking on it, then click "New Port"
    A new screen will open.
    Click "Next"
Type in the IP Address of your printer and click "Next"
After that your computer should find your printer.
Click finish and you should be all set.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

    Hi,
The error could be due to various reasons.A good starting point though would be to check if your page margins do not exceed the printer boundary.
    Regards,
    Neil.

  • I can not print from Firefox, but can from all other browsers and applications (such as MS Word, notepad, etc.). I get a print error on the printing monitor like it's a spooling problem.

This is a recent development but I can not print anything from within Firefox. The print functions open normally, it is going to the correct printer which works..I can print from other browsers and applications. It acts like it is spooling and then a print error occurs and it won't print. I closed and reopened Firefox, opened it in safe mode, cleaned out history/cache/cookies, and rebooted twice. Nothing makes any difference. Also tried printing from the print preview which had the same result. I can print from all other browsers and applications without a problem so it must be within Firefox.

  • When I try to print something, my "documents library opens which creates a printing "error" .

I have downloaded and installed the HP Drivers for my new windows 7 lap top in the windows programs and in the Mozilla program (fire fox). I can print without any problem from any of the windows programs but not from fir fox. As soon as I click on "print" in fire fox, my "Documents Library" page opens and a message comes up saying, "Unknown Printing error occurred while printing" and no printing occurs.

Is your printer selected in Firefox? <br />
Sounds like you may have a '''Print to file''' or other software printer selected in the '''Printer''' > '''Name''' box.

  • How can I print emails? Printing Error message that no printers are installed. (Printers are installed.)

When I click File > Print, I get a Printing Error message that no printers are installed. Printers are installed. When I click Yes to install a new printer, I receive a new error message that "Windows can't open Add Printer / The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine." I updated to the new version of Thunderbird 24.6.0. Using Windows 8. I restarted the machine. I confirmed printers are installed using Control Panel. I do not see any way to restart a print spooler. How can I fix this? Thanks.

The print spooler is a windows service and is required to print. I would hazard a guess you can not print with any application.
What I am saying is I think your windows instalation has a problem, not Thunderbird.
