LR 1.3.1 win crashes after switching module
Hi,
I haven't been able to work with LR almost at all since the update to 1.3.1 (Windows). It crashes every single time I switch form Library to another module. In Library it is stable and I can rate, remove, move pics, add keywords etc. When I change to Develop, it switches the view, but quits the program after a few seconds even if I don't do anything. Once I managed to get into the crop-section before it crashed. Same happens when switching to any other module, also back to Library. When reopening the program it opens the module I was in upon crash, but doesn't stay there for long before in crashes again; only in Library it works somewhat normally. However, I marked that after a 200 pic import it took very long time to create previews (or so it said in the top-left corner).
Has anyone had similar problems? The update specs say that this 1.3.1 update should fix a crashing problem in develop-module, but my 1.3 worked just fine before this update.. I really need Lightroom so it would be great to find some solution soon.
By the way, my Mac-LR 1.3.1 (in PowerBook g4) works normally, but I don't use it as much as the Windows version..
greetings,
--patrik
Hi, thanks for the advice. I wouldn't have liked to reinstall straight away.. The preferences deletion didn't help, but now it seems that reinstalling did it, so I'm well off into adjusting some pics again! :) It seems the 1.3.1 has had quite many problems? Hopefully they don't last too long..

Issue: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom freezes when you start, crashes when you switch between modules, displays blank screens in Slideshows, stalls frequently or runs extremely slowly.
Solution: The nVIDIA nView Multi-Display Technology software (also known as nView Desktop Manager) is known to cause these symptoms. If you have this software installed, please see following Technote for resolution of problem.Okay, I ended up replacing nouveau with the nvidia proprietary drivers. I did a full update of my system, which I hadn't been able to do in over a month because of catalyst's conflict with xorg, and managed to get X working (sort of). The only issue is that once X starts, and brings me to slim, the keyboard ceases to respond. If I turn the numlock on before X starts, it turns off as soon as X starts. Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't do anything either. Not really sure where to go from here other than to switch to vesa or something
EDIT: I tried installing the beta driver as well, but nothing changed.

Illustrator CC 64 bit crashes after a few seconds of being open (Win 8.1 64bit)
After following all related issues of others online, nothing has worked to solved this mystery.
Ai CC 64bit crashes after a few seconds of being open. I am running Win 8.1 64bit. All other Adobe CC apps work. I have installed and re-installed countless times, no help.
I am 100% convinced that Illustrator CC is 100% incompatible with Windows 8.1. Even the Microsoft compatibility page has 100% votes for incompatible yet it states it is compatible.
Adobe, if you care about paying customers, please fix this. I am coming from OS X and everything was flawless.DustinWilliam,
When something is wrong and you uninstall and reinstall, you should always run the Cleaner Tool inbetween to remove what may be lingering, although I doubt whether it will help in this case.

Other than that, I believe this is one for Customer Care (tick I Still Need Help and hope for an agent available for a chat),

Thank you for your help!Hello, damohr.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are a couple troubleshooting articles that I would recommend going through.

<Preran> For the benefit of moderators here, I used Google to translate your content into English:
Good day,
I have problems with blurry font in Dreamweaver CS3 after switching from Windows XP to Windows 7
I have already tried the following:
In "Edit" Preferences "change font size" - unfortunately that does not work. (which had worked fine in the previous changeover to Windows XP)
Then I got in the forum www. office-loesungen.de the tip, sometimes seen on the control panel display, which percentage is set.
When I got the set to the mean value, the writing was not so blurry, but still not really readable.
Experiments with Clear adjust TypeText were not successful.
There is a trick, so the font is larger
If I have to "small" hinders the size that was at 0.75 in the previous pages, it is readable for me, so I could enter the text and read it.
However, the text is then when uploading larger.
What can I do now?
For speedy help I would be grateful
Best regards
Guten Tag,
Renate GundelI've done this multiple times and it produces essentially the same message, but there is a mention that a restart is pending. This is also strange because this is definitely not the case. First time I used CScleaner it took a while and was obviously busy correcting something. However now when I select clean all, it simply dumps anopther massive log file into AppData and says cleaning completed successfully. Now I just ran it again, so would you like me to post the more recent log file?

NAC authentication SSO crashed after update fixes in Win Server2K3
NAC 4.7(2) authentication SSO with Active Directory on WinServer2k3 crashed after update the next fixes:
KB2478971 KERBEROS WEAK HASHING ALGORITHMS
This update addresses the vulnerabilities by preventing the use of weak hashing algorithms in both Windows Kerberos and Windows KDC and by preventing the client from downgrading the encryption standard to DES for Kerberos communication between client and server.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS11-013.mspx
KB2478953 ACTIVE DIRECTORY DoS
The vulnerability could allow denial of service if an attacker sent a specially crafted packet to an affected Active Directory server. The attacker must have valid local administrator privileges on the domain-joined computer in order to exploit this vulnerability.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS11-005.mspx
The NAC solution was working fine for a year, but since my costumer installed those fixes we have troubles to auth users in NAC, CAM can't read LDAP tree and CAS neither. I requested my customer to remove those fixes, they did it but they don´t have a snapshot or checkpoint previous to restore the servers.
We have followed the Cisco's tshoot guides but the problem continues...
Any suggestion?Could you please retpye ktpass on Win2003 server. You said CAM crashed, Do you find any message on support log.
If you need a quickly support . please open a tac support case for this issue .

AE 2014.2 crash when switching preview panel with Matrox
I newly bought a pc with Matrox M9138 card, and using it for professional use. All works fine, except for Adobe After Effects CC 2014.2: it simply crashes when switching between the Preview-panel and Render-Cue panel.
When I look in AE preferences under Video-preview > Mercury transmit doesn't even show that there is a Matrox-card. The only option there is Adobe DV. So, I guess AE doesn't find and even makes use of my Matrox card.
Technical info:
Windows Version: 8.1
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 CPU, 3.6 GHz
RAM: 16GB
Type: 64bits
Matrox M9138 LP PCIex16
Driver version 2.4.3.2 (4.4.3.2) for Win 8-64bit
Adobe CC After effects 2014.2
After Efects error: "Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <816><ae.blitpipe><2> Making New Context"
First I installed the Matrox driver, and then Adobe CC, but After effects crashed when switching between preview-panel and render-cue-panel (No Matrox recognition in AE preferences > Mercury transmit)
Now I did it in other order:
- I removed Adobe CC (AE included) and all parts
- Did extra checkup removal with Adobe CC cleaner
- Removed the Matrox driver
- Restarted PC
- Reinstalled Adobe CC with AE
- Reinstalled Matrox Driver
- Restarted PC
- matrox fully installed and working perfectly (no errors in Display Adapters info).
But still, After effects crashed (Still no Matrox recognition in AE preferences > Mercury transmit)
I contacted Matrox technical support, and as I suspected, they say they haven't had this problem before and all works fine.
Typical...
Does someone has an idea what the problem would be?
Help or info would be very appreciated.Solution:
My graphics card did not supported the "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL)". You can change it into "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" in your Project Settings.
But this is in the wrong place in my opinion. Why not in "Edit/Preferences"? I could've changed it by myself but I did not find the menu.
Thanks Michaela from the Adobe Support Chat! -
IPod Shuffle crashes when switching to shuffle
Hello,
in our company, all employees got iPod shuffles at christmas. Mine worked for about 1 week. It played songs and when I switched to shuffle mode I heard these random tones and when I switched to continuous mode, I heard the non random tones.
Now it doesn't play these tones anymore. And when I switch between continuous and shuffle, it crashes about 3-4 secends after switching.
I tried everything to make it work again.
Recovered it in iTunes more than one time. Formatted it with disk utility and reinstalled the software in iTunes... also more than one time.
All with no success. There is also no reset utility from apple on their pages.
What else can I do with that piece of... umhh... metal, to make it work again?!?!
It's really annoying! An email to apple was answered with a standard response, saying that I should call the hotline. Not very customer friendly. I wonder what deaf-dumb persons should do (with other products than ipods ).
Maybe someone had the same problems and found a solution. Otherwise only a have a nice, little, blue aluminum bottle opener...
Kind regards

[SOLVED] FF crashes after a few seconds
Hi,
FF used to work great but since yesterday, it crashes after 2-3 seconds.
It's not related to the Google start page, it also crashes the same way in safe mode.
I cannot go into the option screen since it crashes right away.
If I reinstall it, it works until I close it and reopen it even though I haven't sync or downloaded any add-ons.
Clean install -> close -> open -> crash.
Does the same thing with FF 14 and 15b3... No idea what to do.
I can't even use the profile manager.
Any clue anyone ?
Thx
Edit:
Ok, problem fixed. There's no magic to it, I just restored Windows to a previous state. This will remain a mystery forever.
Good luck to those of you who have the same weird problem. The same for me. iPhone 4S, itunes match and upgrade to ios7 by air.
So what we have:
1) Music app does not launch (white screen then close)
2) About screen crashes (I guess once it tries to calculate music space)
3) Spotlight does not show any results (no care what I set to search in in the preferences)
4) iTunes Match slider can not be set to Off. However, it is possible to logout from AppleID, then it off. But this does not change the situaton at all
5) Podcast app does not launch
I tried to reboot, to sign in with another Apple ID, to turn off itunes Match, to reset all preferences. Nothing helps.
Things to try:
- reset all preferences and content
- reinstall ios7 with itunes from scratch
- switch to windows phone -
Just updated my iPhone 5 (16g) to iOS7 and now I cannot launch the music app anymore.
It opens and then just crashes after a few seconds of white screen.
Also If I go to Settings General About the phone crashes all the time after just a few seconds. :-(

Frequent kernel crashing after 10.7.4
Yes, i know this has been discussed in many threads. Here's my story.
Early 2011 Macbook Pro (8,2).. was fast as **** when i got it with snow leopard. made one of the biggest mistakes of my life, upgrading to the worst operating system ever; mac os x lion. became considerably slow, and no i haven't tried a clean reinstall yet. not in the mood to go through all the hassle of backing up my apps then having them not work when i restore the backup and downloading them again.
Anyway, i think i've only had one kernel panic crash since then, which was random and normal i guess. that was sometime maybe in mid 2011. i recently upgraded my ram from 4 to 8gb (corsair) like i always did before with all my computers and i noticed how fast my mac was. it seemed perfect. i installed the recent thunderbolt update(s) that people have been getting kernel crashes with and everything was fine. no crashes. then came the dreaded 10.7.4, which i willingly installed (software update) since i've never had a problem with updates before. a while after, i kept getting kernel crashes but they weren't as frequent as they are now. maybe once or twice a week. as time passed, they continued to increase until today where i can't even use my mac for an hour without it crashing maybe 3-4 times. i can't do ANYTHING.
i tried to run AHT but when it connects to my wifi, i get a "!" icon over the earth icon, with "apple.com/support -1007D" or something under it, and nothing happens. i'm getting extremely sick of this and it's affecting my judgement about buying a new imac when they get upgraded soon. maybe switch to linux.
anyway, my mac just crashed after i started up cinema 4d, and i decided i'd use my first post here to post up my report and see if anyone can figure out what's wrong;

Photoshop CS5 crashing after 5 mins??
So after installing Lion, photoshop is continually crashing after a couple of minutes of using it and I have no idea what the problem is? Is it possibly a memory issue - as this rarely happened in Snow Leopard, especially during CPU intensive sessions?? i'm just at a loss and am panicking..
Can anyone help please!?
thanks!
Steven

Also using a late 2009 MBP and am having issues with PS CS5 and opening files. Doesn't matter what file size, large multiple layer psds or simple png screen shots. Randomly PS will freeze, black out the lower two thirds of the screen with the top portion of the screen flickering in what seems to be a lack of vertical sync. I was running PS with OpenGL in Basic mode on the 9400M when the issue first arose. I then switched to the 9600M to rule out video hardware problems and the issue persisted. I have also tested with both the 9400M and 9600M with OpenGL completely disabled and the issue still persists. Note that I always repair permissions before and after an upgrade only using the Combo Updates, I never use a delta through Software Update. Prior to updating to 10.6.4 I was running 10.6.3 without issue.
I guess there's nothing left to do at this point but downgrade to 10.6 and then back up to 10.6.3 - fun. -
Acrobat Pro X, that came with CS6 Design Standard (all other programs working fine) crashes after a few minutes of use. It crashes whether there is a document open or not.
I notice it most when I come back to the PDF after switching from another program; eg) Open PDF and browse for atleast 1 minute, find the info I need on the PDF, update InDesign document, switch back to PDF, "(Not Responding)", try to close document, "Adobe Acrobat is Not Responding". And this happens every single time - no matter what document I open or whether I even have a document open at all.
I've searched the forums and as much of the Internet I can think of, and I've tried (but with no luck);
- Updating both Windows 7 and Acrobat Pro
- Deactivating and the reactivating the software
- Deleting the cache and then deactivating - (I thought this had worked for a few minutes after I'd done this, but no)
- Acrofix
- Complete re-install without performing updates - still crashed
- Complete resinstall after using Acrobat Cleaner tool
- Turning off 3D functions in Acrobat
- Turning off Enhanced security and license features in Acrobat
- Turning off Windows Firewall
- Turning off Internet Security (ESET)
- Removing all non-standard Fonts
I can't think of anything else to try so I thought I'd ask here. Please help!
Windows 7 / Intel core i7 / 16GBHi Rave, thanks for your reply.
How do I go about posting the crash dump here?
And to answer your questions; I just installed Reader 11 and its working fine. As for Acrobat 11, I must've used a trial last year before we got CS6 because it is asking me to license it, so I cant test that unfortunately. -
Offline or Online Backup after switching off and on the archving mode
Hello guys,
I am doing an SAP (on Oracle) upgrade. In the upgrade guide there are two completely different statements about making a backup of the Oracle database during upgrade.
1st statement:
"If you deactivate archiving, you have to make a full backup of the database after the downtime before you switch archiving back on. This must be executed as an offline backup."
2nd statement:
"Backup: Database Was Operated in NOARCHIVELOG Mode
Activate ARCHIVELOG mode again and create a full backup of the database. This must be executed as an offline backup."
Quotes from: "Upgrade GuideSAP ERP 6.0 Including Enhancement Package 4 Support Release 1 ABAPBased on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Including Enhancement Package"
I understand the fact that the backup has to be offline if you do it before you activate archiving. This is logical.
1) Why does SAP do these two proposals before and after switching on archiving which are completely contrary?
2) Why does the backup has to be offline if you do it after switching on archiving?
May be somebody knows the background for this.
Thanks
NikHi,
Two kind of Recovery play an important role in Database Recovery after DB Restore. The Database recovery can be Compete recovery, point-in-time recovery or partial recovery.
Media Recovery (due to media failure/corruption or loss of Data files) can be performed by applying all Offline Redo Log files which are generated from Online Redo-log file in Archive Mode.
Instance Recovery can be done with the help of Online Redo log file and undo table-space to achieve consistent status of Database. In this recovery the committed transactions (which are logged in Online Redo Log files) are roll forward and the uncomplete transactions (which are also logged in Online Redo Log Files) are rolled back into DB using Undo space info.
If you deactivate archiving, you have to make a full backup of the database after
the downtime before you switch archiving back on. This must be executed as an offline backup.
With Archive log Mode , one can deal with Media Recovery and Instance Recovery. Upon deactivating Archive log mode, the Archive log files will not be generated and the circular logging will take place within the group of online redo log files.
So, after deactivating Archive Log mode, Its recommended to take immediate offline backup to have consistent Backup copy of Database which may be required to deal with demanded media recovery by restoring that immediate latest offline Backup. If the database operates in NOARCHIVELOG mode, the database can ONLY be completely recovered from instance failure but not from media failure. This means that, in case of media failure you will lose all work done after the last valid offline backup. The database can be backed up only while it is completely closed.
Upon media failure after deactivating the Archive log mode (..rare chance, but we can not ignore it...),the complete recovery can not be achieved if the large time gape is there between the last successful offline backup and DB crash because between this time it may be the chance that the Online Redo log files are overwritten so many times in circular manner.
