LR 2.1 slideshow & library interaction

Using Lightroom 2.1 (512205) on a Mac Pro Mac OS X 10.5.5
In LR 1.4.1 I could select a set of photos from the grid in the library, hit the slideshow play button (Impromptu slideshow) at the bottom of the grid and get the slide show. Select a different set, do the same. I use this for rating photos in chunks instead of all at once and I've got a slideshow template.
So in LR 2.1 I did:
- select all photos in grid
- Go to Slideshow module to select my template
- Go back to Library and deselect all and select the subset I'm interested in.
- Press play button at bottom of grid (toolbar - impromptu slideshow) and it's showing the photos that were selected when I went into the slideshow module, instead of the photos I've currently got selected in the grid view in Library.
Usually I don't use the filmstrip. However the same behavior is appearing in filmstrip. Select photos in filmstrip in SLIDESHOW module, it works. Select a different set of photos from filmstrip in LIBRARY module, and the slideshow doesn't recognize the new selection, it uses what was last used in the Slideshow module.
Am I missing something or is this a bug?
In the toolbar at the bottom of the Slideshow module I've got it set to
Use: Selected Photos
Any help appreciated.
Vance

I found the problem. After installing new video drivers, it worked fine!

  • Slideshow in interactive pdf (PDF is not a slideshow)

Hi, I am looking to create a slideshow in interactive pdf.
My first try i used images and created an object state.  I exported it to test and it didnt work.  The only way this option would work is to save as .swf.  I dont want document to be a swf but pdf.  So I found another solution to save the slideshow seperate as a swf and place into the pdf.  It works.  exported and it works.  This seems to be the better way.
Now the only issue is that when I open the interactive pdf, the slideshow shows up as a flash button.  You have to click on it for the slideshow to show up but it does work.
Is there a better way, or is there a way to automatically show the slideshow vs the flash button.
Ive uploaded it to drop box here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/pkoqrb6n1ndpsqn/sAUk-gDPky
    Thanks

There's nothing you can do about this. It's a security setting and is set by each individual.
I would avoid SWF like the plague. It won't play on mobile devices at all.

  • Android slideshow/library banner issue

    Hi,
I'm updating my DPS legacy Android app to a native one. I'd like to maintain the offline/online banner mechanism that the legacy app had, so that I could change the online banner whenever I wanted.
There's a way to do that in the Store Configurator, using the Slideshow Entitlement Banner option. But when I'm testing the dev app, after uploading the zip file, the banner does not appear.
When I add a custom library, its banner appears, but there's no option to add the offline/online banner mechanism. Is there another way to add it?
    Thanks.

Can you send me your adobe id and password so I can take a look at the folios and how the banner is setup? You can use delu at adobe. Thanks.

  • Access Aperture library from other computer for slideshows?

    Hi
I have a macmini connected to my LCD TV. Before when I used to use iPhoto I could share my library on the network, and launch iPhoto on the tv to display slideshows from iPhoto on my macbook pro.
Is there any way that is as easy or similar easy to display slideshows/photos on the TV/macmini with Aperture?

I have this exact setup. Sharing an Aperture Library across a LAN between machines is doable, but problematic. I've corrupted my Aperture Library at least once this way.
My MacPro is in the office and the Mac Mini is on a wired LAN connection (I wouldn't even attempt this over any flavor of WiFi.) I share the Pictures folder on my MacPro and cross-mount it on the Mini, which runs its own copy of Aperture +non-simultaneously with the MacPro+ (that is key - even if you have multiple licensed copies of Aperture on your LAN you +must not+ have multiple instances simultaneously accessing the common Aperture Library.) Then when Aperture starts up on the Mini I have pointed it to the common Aperture Library in the shared folder, cross my fingers and wait...and wait...and wait... until the Mini has loaded the Aperture Library across a 100BaseT ethernet connection.
After 1-2 minutes the Mini will have gotten whatever it needs cached from the MacPro server, and then it runs rather responsively - at least until you switch projects.
But I always get the heeby-jeebies running this way. One classic noob mistake I made was letting the Mini fall asleep after a slideshow +with Aperture still running and attached to the common library+, then starting Aperture back up on my MacPro, which thought it had full ownership of the library. Bad consequences. Not for the faint of heart.
Is there any way that is as easy or similar easy to display slideshows/photos on the TV/macmini with Aperture?
The most obvious safe way to do this would be if iPhoto - which allows read-access to your Aperture Library, if it can find it on your machine or network - would build slideshows from your Aperture images. Unfortunately this is not the case unless you literally import (ie make new copies of) the Aperture images into your iPhoto library, which kind of waters down the notion of "sharing".
A better way, which I've tried with some success, is to use Aperture 3.x's *File->Export->Slideshow as New Library* command. The short version is: build the slideshow you want on your MacBook Pro, then Export it as a self-contained Aperture library across the network to your Mini. Use option-cmd when you open Aperture on your Mini and select that freshly exported library as your Mini's current Aperture Library (or use the new *File->Switch to Library* command and navigate to it.)
This still incurs the overhead of copying files across machines, but it allows you to have full Aperture slideshow functionality on your Mini without actually sharing the library. (That flavor of Export command gives the option of copying over the preview images that will be used for the slideshow or letting your Mini regenerate them - the best choice depends on the speed of your network vs the speed of your Mini, size of preview images, etc.)
A hybrid approach might be to leave the newly exported slideshow library on your MacBook, and +share just that library+ across the network after disconnecting it from your MacBook. It's hard to say whether that might be faster than transferring the whole library and its previews across the network - I haven't tried it.

  • Advanced Slideshow -- Can it be copied to another Mac?

I've created an iPhoto 5 advanced slideshow with custom timing, etc. Is there a way to move this slideshow to another Mac?

There is a way but it would involve duplicating your current library folder and giving it a name like Slideshow Library. The launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, locate Slideshow Library and open it. Now delete all the photo but those in the slideshow. Then close iPhoto.
Now copy the Slideshow Library folder to the other Mac. Using iPhoto Buddy on the other Mac the user can easily move between the original library on that Mac and the Slideshow Library.
However you will have to reapply the audio because it will not carry over the audio tracks. If they don't have the same tracks you may have to select others. Not the best solution overall. That's about the only way you can do it.

  • How to Transfer Slideshow to Another Mac without Losing Quality

I produced a 93-picture slideshow with iPhoto6, Ken Burns, music, all excellent quality. I want to send it to a friend to be played on her MacBook Pro in exactly the same high quality (clarity, resolution, transitions, music) as I enjoy on mine.
If I publish it on .Mac I keep the high quality of the photos, but I lose the music and the transitions. If I publish it as a QT movie, I lose the quality of the photos; ditto for iDVD.
Is some sort of archiving possible, and sending via an ordinary DVD?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

There is a way to do this that involves copying your entire library, paring it down to just the slideshow, and burning the library to DVD.
    1. Close iPhoto. In the Finder, copy your iPhoto Library folder. (Copy the whole folder without opening or taking it apart.) You'll need plenty of disc space available. You might want to make the copy on your desktop to avoid confusion.
    2. Rename the copied iPhoto Library folder. (Ex: "iPhoto Slideshow Library ")
    3. Hold the Option key while you launch iPhoto. Click "Choose Library" then navigate to the iPhoto Slideshow Library folder. iPhoto will now open the copied library.
    4. In iPhoto, delete all photos and albums that aren't needed for the slideshow. Remember to use iPhoto Trash and to empty it. You might delete in batches of a few rolls at a time, since iPhoto can get fussy if you try to do too much at once.
    5. Your new library should now contain only the slideshow and its photos. Close iPhoto. You may want to Option-Launch again and point to your regular library now, to avoid confusion the next time you open iPhoto.
    6. Use the Finder to burn the iPhoto Slideshow Library folder to DVD. (Use the Finder's get info to check that it is about 4.2 Gb or less. That's about all you can reasonably expect to fit.) Since you are burning an entire library, the disc will contain the necessary database files to play the slideshow on any Mac that has iPhoto 6.

  • I have lost catalog, previews and slideshow

I made a slide show. When I wnet in to change something the pictures would not come up in either slideshow, library or develope. An Error box said something about the previews were corrupted. I looked up what to do (delete the previews and let it rebuild) It did not work. Now I am in a really big mess. Others of my pictures are a missing. All the pictures from the slide show are missing. I know that the originals are still on my computer but I need to get back to the slideshow and how it was set up. I need help really fast. The customer is expecting the corrected version of the slideshow in 2 days!

I realized when I wrote the note that details were being left out but I was almost afraid that I would scare people off, at least that is the way it seemed. I have been looking for an answer for days now and no one has answered. Thanks DJ.
I am running a PC on Microsoft Windows 7. I use Lightroom 4 upgraded to 4.4.
I am not a techy, I am a Grandmother that loves photography, and Lightroom, but for the life of me there are some parts of Lightroom that I just don’t understand.
I loaded and fixed up some pictures in Lightroom and then made a slide show from the pictures. The pictures are not mine, I am doing it for an organization.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3ms3xlWgbE . When I went back in to make some corrections I got an error message.
I put the exact error message into Google, which said :"Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem the next time it launches".   It never did fix itself so I  found several sites that said I needed to delete the preview cash. Now this is where, to me, it gets complicated:  I didn’t know where the preview cashe was so I put it in my programs and files search and to my surprise it showed me a bunch of catalogs that I didn’t even know that I had. I selected the one with the most recent activity on it and deleted the preview cashe. It didn’t seem to do anything, no error message, nothing. When I went back into the catalog that had the pictures and slide show in it, it seemed to be gone.
I understand that it may have deleted it but it has never attempted to rebuild it and now all of those pictures and their changes seem to no longer be in Lightroom. I am afraid to do anything else for fear that I will really screw things up.
Now that I am calming down a bit, just from finally making contacting with someone else about this, I do realize that the pictures being missing is another problem. Can I discuss this with you later?
Is this forum the only way to talk to you? I was afraid that what ever that delete was that I hit deleted a bunch of other pictures.

  • Interactive script

    Hi,
How to find question and answer id of existing interactive script? I have tried to search function in the interactive script edit in webclient UI, but no response. the system is crm 2007. Thanks

    Hi Sanjib,
    1. Can an interactive script be assigned to a transaction type (Task/Interaction log).
Interactive script can be assigned to 'campaigns' or 'call lists'.  Refer below link which is very detail.
Interactive Scripting in SAP CRM (SAP Library - Interaction Center)
    2. How to link Interactive Script to a Interaction record .
There is no option to assign interactive script to task / interaction log. However you can leverage 'Questionnaires' feature for task.

  • Interactive animations

Hy!! Im using Director on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and Im having
problems with the library interactive animations. If I start a new
project and just drop a shape on the canvas and add the animation
it works. But when the project gets a bit larger they wont work
anymore. I tried them on .jpg, .png, on text... and they simply
    wont work.
    can anybody help me?
    THANX !!!

There seems to be this perception among Captivate developers that because a lot of widgets out there are free, and others are only 20 or 30 dollars, that widgets must be quite simple little bits of software and take only minutes to knock up.  People are also under the mistaken impression that widget developers charging for their creations are raking in a fortune.
Neither of these ideas is true.
Lilybiri is correct.  When you build a widget, you have to keep RE-building it each time a new Captivate version comes out because the architectural changes keep breaking your widgets.  The more widgets you've created, the more headaches you have with every version upgrade.  And now that Adobe is putting out a new major version every year, with update versions every few months, and the CP Subscription versions are slightly different to the others...well that just gives me migraines thinking about it.  And although I've helped hundreds of clients fix issues with projects containing our widgets, even though the issue was NOT a bug in the widget, I've NEVER had one offer to pay me for my time.
The reality of this 'widget business' is that I can earn literally 5 times more money building courses for clients than I can building widgets for course developers.  That's why there aren't more widgets in the world.

  • Moving a Slideshow from iMacG5 to PowerBook

I have an iPhoto slideshow on an iMacG5. I'm trying to move the slideshow to a Powerbook G4.
G5 has iLife 5 and Powerbook has iLife 6.
Both computers are running 10.4.6. The computers are networked.
I know that I can export all the pics, move them to the PowerBook and create a new slideshow on the Powerbook. However, I have created unique transitions and effects for different slides and the slideshow is large. I'd rather not have to do all that work over again.
    Any ideas?

    Sam*:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The best way I can think of is to duplicate your V5 library and remove all items except those in the slideshow. Then copy the slideshow library to your PB, run Batchmod on it, and then open with V6 to convert to the newer version. You'll need the same songs on your PB as on the G5 but may still have to reassign the track or playlist.
The reason I mentioned running BatChmod on the library is to assure that the copied folder and contents have the correct permissions and ownership to smooth the transition from V5 to V6. Here's how to set it up.
You can use iPhoto Library Manager or iPhoto Buddy to quickly and easily move between libraries.
    Do you Twango?

    APDivs cannot be resized.
APDivs in primary layouts won't work in Responsive Web Design.
APDivs are a very poor layout method.
For this reason, Adobe removed APDivs from Dreamweaver CC.
Example of Fluid Grid Layout with floats & margins, no APDivs required.

Adding to osgood's reply, you are calling four different jquery libraries as in
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src=

      <oa:widget wid="2559022" binding="#slideshow_1" />
      <oa:widget wid="2827522" binding="#OAWidget" />
    </oa:widgets>
    -->
    </script>
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js"></script>
    <script src="http://vindsters.nl/main slide js/jquery-1.6.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

This will confuse the browser no end!
My advice is to remove the last three highlighted lines to see what happens.

  • Digital Magazine

Our company is looking to take an internal print magazine to online only.  Ultimately the magazine will live on an internal web site. We'd like the magazine to have interactivity similar to what you see in app based magazines (slideshows, hyperlink, interactive buttons). Our issue is it will need to function both on Computers and tables. Would the DPS tools be able to create this or would we need to use a third party tool? I have been researching on the internet and it seems like a good deal of discussion is from a couple of years ago. Seems like a number of people recommended a tool called Edocker. Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Would the DPS tools be able to create this or would we need to use a third party tool?  Yes. Probably.
But there are more questions to solve, like
    1. Tablets - app, ebook reader or website?
    2. Computer - website (most probably), but also ebook?
Because the DPS is focused on ebooks and related apps, not websites. Best way would be HTML5 on a website, being compatible to browsers on PC, smartphones and tablets. For this, you don't need the DPS, but a different tool. Indesign is too powerless exporting interactive websites.

  • First FC site created and Thoughts about FC

Just completed my first site created using PScs4 and FC beta 2.
    bigimpressionsmobile.com
Program does just what I want. No Coding!!! Took about 15 hours to create the site. Would have taking me a week to do it in flash. I know a little action script but do not wish to learn it in-depth. I am a designer.
Please note: Background image may not match the background in flash. No wmode transparency support .
    The Bad first.
Hate that there is not a timeline scrubber!!!!! Current preview system between states slows down my productivity. Would like to see live feedback in the final.
Timeline panel is very confusing when you have a lot of animation. I am guessing this is do to this being beta. I hope the timeline will work like the layers panel. I would like to restructure the order.
Deleting does not delete. I get why it just hides it, but I would still like a short cut option to do a complete delete in the final.
No indesign support!  Please create Indesign Catalyst.
When converting to buttons name changes. I am guessing this is a beta issue. Better be.
That's really it b/c I know this is just a beta so I will not go crazy about my other issues!  Like no support for video alpha channels and cue points.
    The Good
    No Coding!!!
Takes me half the time to create an interactive site using this program! No Coding! No headaches.
    Easy to use. Air deployment
This program is a sure winner if the final has video alpha channels, cue point support, better timeline and animation functionality similar to flash, and wmode transparency support, third party plugin compatibility with slideshow plug-ins like slideshowpro.
    Final thoughts
After creating my first fc site. I see myself only using this program for interactive headers, microsites with no more than 20 states, slideshow navigation, interactive web banners, custom preloader creation, Quick and simple online presentations a la powerpoint and keynote style.
Would use it heavily for video interactivity if you guys put in video alpha channels, cue points support, and custom skinning functionality(same method as the scrollbar and sliders)! I do a lot of green screen shoots.
State(Page) transitions(slide, page flip, dissolve, swf alpha transitions, etc.) as an option. Then being able to manually animate in the content would be a nice addition.
If there were any kind of coding I would like to see, the coding method used to create menus in Encore from  Photoshop. I can handle that! I woulds speed up productivity. Maybe put that in CS5!!!
    Thanks Adobe.

    Thanks for the feedback!
When I imported video with an alpha channel I got a black background. Is the preview going to be black in playback? I did not export the file to test though. I will try it again and see if it works. How should I set my alpha channel when I export from AE or PSCS4?
The timeline panel is not that confusing. I think the main issue with the current version is that I cannot reorder them and when I add a new effect most of the time the effect goes to the bottom, but sometimes they pop up at the top or middle.
If the object order in the timeline matches the layer order, that would be a big improvement. I still would like to have a preview scrubber in the timeline. It will speed up my productivity.
Will there be another beta before the final release? Is it still  scheduled for Q1(before end of march?)
New Issue (probably just beta issues)
"edit original" is causing a lot of headaches!
I have created the bigimpressionsmobile.com all in PSCS4.  When I choose "edit original" It only gives me an edit in Illustrator option. Not sure why, but it is causing major problems when I try to update a graphic.
Everytime I update a graphic I loose all the effects and the name changes. That slows down productivity BIG TIME!
Other things I would like to see...
    1. Would like to have edit original functionality for AE.
    2. A skew and reflect shape button.
    3. A simple built in form script.
    4. I know cue point support and action script is the best way to interact with video, but I would like to be able to trigger a state or nested state when I reach a certain point of the video. This maybe a little complicated and I guess I can create some type of workaround.
This is my vision. I want to be able to have an actor appear on screen and say "Welcome to my site. Blah Blah Blah....Please choose from one of these options listed below." When the actor says, "listed below," I want to be able to go to the next state with the animation happening while the actor is still in the background moving or walking away.
This could work if I can add 1 video to 2 states and have it stop at a particular time then start in the next state at a particular time. I know this could be done with just 2 different videos but I would have to export "TWO DIFFERENT VIDEOS."
A good example of a solution is incorporate the "trim video" option found inside Keynote.
Another option is doing something similar to Powerpoint's, on the mac, "Play across slides" for video option. I can delay the transition to anytime to go to the next slide while the video still plays. This functionality would be a GREAT solution if cue points are not an option!
