LR 3 convert CR2 (canon eos 5d mk2) to DNG in Loupe View issue

i have just stumbled upon an issue in LR 3 beta3.0 - when i select several images in loupe view there will be only the selected image converted to dng. the others remain untouched.
after switching to grid view everything works fine though.
manageable problem for me but maybe someone else is having the same issue and can appreciate the heads up.
cheers
Viktor
ps: the issue remains after restart of LR and after reboot of system.
i am running a vista 64 machine with 8gb ddr2 ram (4x 2gb geil cl4), 3.6 ghz cpu e8400 on an asus p5q pro board, with nvidia gtx 260. both the system hdd and the lightroom cache and image hdd are samsung hd753LJ 750gb sata2

What you're describing is as designed and has been this way from before LR even got out of beta for version 1.
cannot comment on that since i never had to convert to dng after import because the import dialogue always remembered to convert the RAW files for me. since the switch to LR3 i need to do it myself thus its annoying sometimes having to do it. still i didnt expect this beavior since syncing files works in loupe mode on several files too. but now that i think about it things like "save metadata" works in grid only aswell.
just checked: the subtle difference i missed was in loupe mode the module says: "convert photo to dng" in grid: "convert photos".
thanks for clearing that up for me.

  • I can't convert .cr2 canon raw files with DNG converter.

I have a Canon 1000D, and im trying to open RAW files to edit in cs4. Everytime i open it, photoshop says that it doesnt recognise this type of file, but i open my friends RAW file (450D) and it can read it. I have also downloaded DNG converter, and it comes up with this message (first image) but my folder has .cr2 files......im really lost
I have also asked for help on the photoshop forum, but they referred me here...
    Thanks

That file is only 2.7 megabytes.  Raw files are usually larger.  That likely means it's truncated (cut off prematurely).
You haven't selected one of the modes called sRAW (Small Raw) have you?

  • Raw file converter for Canon EOS 5D Mark iii ?

When will Aperture 3 have a raw file converter for Canon's new 5D model? Should I work with JPEGs in the mean while or is there another better solution?
    Best regards, Markus

    Markus,
    see this long thread
Canon 5D Mk III - RAW update?
I would shoot in raw+jpeg while you are waiting and use the Adobe dng converter,
    see Adobe's Camera Raw Converter
Then, when the raw is supported by Aperture, reprocess your masters.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • Converting from Canon EOS 7D to Final Cut Express

I recently converted files using MPEG stream clip and imported them into final cut express. I used the Apple Intermediate Codec but when changing my settings in easy set up none of them give me an HD video in the canvas window or when I export the video.
I have no idea what to do to fix the problem.

Changing the easy setup does not change the settings of any existing sequence. What are the exact item properties of your clips and of the sequence?

  • Canon EOS 5D Mark II DNG Not Recognized by Aperture

Hi - I recently received a hard drive with a number of DNG files shot with the 5D Mark II.  When I try to import them into Aperture,
I am told that the file format is not supported.  All Aperture support (book/web/help) says DNG is supported.  Also, Canon 5D RAW
    supported.
How can I import these files?
    Thanks.
    Chris

    From the Aperture spec:
DNG files must be generated by the Adobe DNG Converter with the “Convert to Linear Image” option turned off.
    Might be your problem.
If you can get your hands on the original RAW files that would definitely be your best bet.

    What is cause?
I use Lightroom, Photoshop and Adobe DNG converter
The CR2 is good in the Viewer on the PC to Win 8.1.
When I use Contenta software converter to JPEG then is result good.
Via Adobe products is not good.
    Operating system Win 8.1

    Hi,
Which version of photoshop, lightroom and the dng converter are you using?
    Which operating system?
Do you see the vertical white areas in both lightroom and photoshop?
    Could you post a scrrenshot?

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.4
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Canon EOS D60 CR2 raw images don't open in Photoshop.  Why?

I know this question has been asked many times but I couldn't find a thread with an answer.  I have just taken my first images with my Canon EOS D60 (upgraded from 1000D) and find that the CR2 raw images aren't recognised by Photoshop.  I remember I had this issue when I first had my 1000D but cannot remember what I did.  I have CS4 V11.0.2 and tried to update Camera Raw but it says no updates are available.  I have Lightroom 3 and that opens them ok but not Photoshop.  Sorry .... but can anyone tell me again what the problem is?  Thanks. :-(

You can get support for the latest cameras in CS2, CS3 and CS4 through our FREE DNG Converter:
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4923
    Win: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4924
There are other benefits to using DNG besides backward compatibility if you haven’t explored those:
The metadata, keywords and RAW adjustments are stored in the file – along with a processed preview of the image. This makes the file portable and keeps your metadata safe and secure.
DNG files are smaller than the original RAW file which will save you disk space and time in the long run.
DNG is an openly specified file format which means the file format isn’t going away. So if you use another RAW processor that supports DNG, you don’t have to worry about compatibility or portability of your metadata.

  • Unable to convert my canon cr2 files to DNG

I cannot convert my caonon 1200d cr2 files for DNG on my vista machine as the latest version of adobe raw convertor will not run on my vista machine/..@

Your CR2 files require Adobe Camera Raw 8.4 or higher and as you have discovered ACR8.4 is not compatible with older operating systems.
ACR8.3 was the final update to raw support for Windows XP, Windows Vista or Mac OSX 10.6.
You should have a copy of Canon DPP with your EOS utility disks. You will need to install and use that, until you get a new computer. You can convert CR2 into tiff or go straight to jpeg, using DPP.

  • Will there be a RAW plugin for Elements 12 supporting the Canon EOS 7D MkII - or when will the DNG converter for this be available?

I've just bought a Canon EOS 7D MkII but cannot open the RAW files in Elements 12. I also can't use the latest DNG Converter to convert them - will either option become available and if yes how long is it likely to take please?
    Thanks, Sarah

    Hi,
The Canon 7D Mk II is currently not supported by any version of camera raw.
It is expected that Camera raw 8.7 will include support and we are hoping that it will be released soon.
PSE 12 has ceased to be updated - you will either need to update to PSE 13 or use the DNG 8.7 converter (when it becomes available) to convert the CR2 files to DNG files - PSE 12 will then beable to use the DNG files.

  • I have Lightroom 3.6 and Camera Raw 6.6 but I can't open my CR2 files from my Canon eos 6D

    Hi,
I have Lightroom 3.6 and Camera Raw 6.6 but I can't open my CR2 files from my Canon eos 6D
Lightroom doesn't show a thumbnail image and when trying to import it says the camera format isn't supported. But normaly Camera raw 6.6 should cover the Canon eos 6D
    All help is welcome,
    Thanks

No, the older versions are not free.  If you upgrade you will have to get Lr5 unless you can still find Lr4 for sale somewhere as it has been discontinued by Adobe.  You can also use the FREE DNG converter to convert the 6d files for use in Lr3.6.

  • I can't open RAW (cr2) images from my Canon EOS 650D

    Hey,
I use Photoshop CS5 Extended (Version 12.1 x64). I can open the raw-Images (cr2) from my Canon EOS 1000d/Rebel XT but I can not open the RAW-Images (cr2) from my Canon EOS 650D (Rebel T4i). I have installed the latest update for CS5 through the updaate command.
    How can I open them?
    Thank you!

    Hi there,
Support for RAW from Rebel T4i was launched in ACR 7.2 (Adobe Camera Raw). However, ACR 7.x is compatible only from CS6, not on CS5.
Sorry, but you can work with the installation disc you've got from Canon to convert the files into TIFF/ JPG or get the 7.2 DNG converter from here:
    Win - http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5486
    Mac - http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5485
Why don't you consider upgrading to CS6? There are some great upgrade prices in store right now.
