LR 4 won't connect to Canon 1D x for tethered capture

It looks as though LR4 won't recognize the new Canon 1D x for tethered shooting. does anyone know of a work around for this? does anyone know when this feature will be added to LR4?

You can check here periodically:
<http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom-4.html> http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom- 4.html
Adobe doesn’t pre-announce support for things, and the standard answer is that they are still waiting for Canon to release their software-development-kit that supports the newer Canon cameras, so Adobe can use it to attach to them.  As you can see the 1Dx shows no SDK in the Drivers and Software area:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/products/professional_cameras/digital_slr_camer as/eos_1d_x#DriversAndSoftware
while something like the older 5D Mark II does list an SDK being available:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/products/professional_cameras/digital_slr_camer as/eos_5d_mark_ii#DriversAndSoftware
Canon seems to have last released an SDK in April 2011, so any cameras newer than that aren’t supported for image capture unless they are very similar to ones that are supported and might work.  The 1Dx is fairly new so wouldn’t be supported by Canon and therefore no Adobe, either, yet.
Nikon has already released their SDK for the new Nikon D800 and Capture One supports it, already, but Adobe still doesn’t so it won’t necessarily be released immediately even when Canon does release their SDK.

I also have the Canon 5D3 and have no issues connecting with various software (EOS Utility, LR, Helicon Remote) on that computer.  I have a MacBookPro mid-2009 running OS X 10.8.5.  Lightroom, Camera Raw and EOS Utility are up to date, same goes for the 7D2 firmware.

It usually takes many months and perhaps more than one version of LR before tethering is supported after raws are supported.  The first hurdle is for the camera manufacturer to release a new SDK with the camera supported, so Adobe can’t have tethering ready when raw support is because a camera isn’t added until after it is announced.  Canon has added the 7D.2 to their SDK about two weeks after the camera was available, so the ball is in Adobe’s court:

    Hi all,
When I try to check the latest updates, Sql Developer (2.1.0.63) says it can't access to Internet in order to search for updates.
The credentials that I gave are correct (proxy, port, username, password) : when I click on the "Test Proxy" button, it says everything is OK.
But when I click on the "OK" button, it won't connect.
Then I click on the "Cancel" button, and check the details and get the following stack trace:

  • Palm TX won't connect to computer via WiFi for Hotsync

I've tried the network Hotsync on all my computers, XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 (which started the whole attempt) and the device fails to connect to the computer, even when I put in the IP address.
My wireless network sees the Palm and I am able to access the Internet through it, but it won't connect to my computers. Any suggestions?

Here's my Wifi Hotsync help file:
    Wifi HotSync with a TX
    1. On your PC, locate the HotSync Manager (little HotSync icon in the lower right tool tray on a Winbox). Click on it and check off "Network", then click again and select Setup.
    2. Pick the Network tab up top in the window that opens, and find your HotSync name in the list. Make sure it's checked.
    3. Tap the TCP/IP button, and look at the IP address listed for "Primary PC Address". Write it down.
    4. Turn on Wifi on your Palm and connect to your router.
    5. On your Palm, select the HotSync program and tap the word "Network" above the HotSync icon in the middle of the screen. Below it, enter the IP address you wrote down in step 3. (Include the periods!).
    6. Tap the big HotSync icon above the IP address, and hold on!
    7. If you're holding on, and nothing happens try a wired HotSync, then try the Wifi HotSync again. Sometimes, information has to transfer from your PC after you check off the Network option. Also, be sure to watch for any Firewall activity asking you about "HotSync.exe is trying to access your hard drive" etc. You may need to set a rule to allow it.
On your TX, check these settings from the pull-down menu in Hotsync:
    Modem Sync: Network
    LanSync: :LANSync
Network Setup: (Wifi should be listed as one of the networks)

  • Does Lightroom 5.7 support the Canon 7D MkII for tethered shooting?

I have two computers with LR 5.7. I can not get the Canon 7d II to do tethered capture on either one. The tethering tool bar flashes between " Canon 7D Mk II" and "No Camera Detected". The 7D MkII is not one of the cameras listed on the Adobe web site that will do tethered shooting. Given that LR5.7 supports that camera for Camera RAW, why wouldn't it also be able to do tethered capture? Or is there something else I'm missing?

According to the document Tethered camera support in Lightroom the new 7d II is not currently supported in Lr 5.7.

  • My iPhone 5s won't connect to my wifi. For hours it says it's loading by nothing happens. All the other devices in my home are able to connect without a problem. (Already tried restarting my phone)

I tried to download an app to my phone, but it kept saying that it couldn't be downloaded at this time. To solve that problem, I tried to restart my phone (which did not work by the way) and when the phone turned back on, the wifi didn't connect automatically so I went to do it manually. I clicked on the network and it says it's loading, but it is not connecting. It is not saying that it can't connect, it's just not doing anything. It has the little loading circle, but doesn't connect. All the other devices in my home (laptop, phones, iPods) are connected and are working properly. Please help me fix this! Thanks so much! (I restarted my iPhone again, reset my phone, and turned the wifi off and back on again already)

I changed to Firefox some time ago and have had no problems. Now when I click on Mozilla Firefox I get no connection to my verizon internet account. That has not been a problem before. The screen shows it is trying to connect but nothing happens.

If you use the IE tab extension then try to disable it.

  • Airport Extreme won't connect to new Vizio TV for internet apps

I have my passwords correct and yet my new Vizio TV says that "Download Not Available" when I try to connect to my wireless Airport Extreme so I can get apps on the TV. It shows my Apple Network number but with a closed lock new to the icon. Trouble shooting says I might need to "disable MAC address filtering in wireless router." Don't know what to do! The airport is set up correctly so I can use my laptop and iPod without trouble. Can anyone help? Thanks.

It shows my Apple Network number but with a closed lock new to the icon.
It sounds like your Vizio TV sees that the Apple network as enabled for wireless encryption ... is it? That is do you have it configured for WPA or WPA2 encryption? If so, you will need to configure the TV to be able to access the network, just like your laptop or iPod.
Trouble shooting says I might need to "disable MAC address filtering in wireless router."
By default, your AirPort Extreme does not have MAC address filtering enabled. Did you configure it for Access Control in the AirPort Utility? If so, you would need to add the MAC address of the wireless adapter used in the Vizio.

  • I need help setting up Lightroom 4 for tethered capture, to a Canon 5dMkIII, for a class I am teaching.

Searching and can't find the needed plugin. Lightroom support is kinda sketchy.

Thanks. The update helped, however it's still very buggy. Only hitting about a 20% success rate of LR loading the capture image and lots of "busy" messages in the camera. I'm doing some maintenance on the laptop, clearing some memory, etc. and hopefully that will help.

There is no update for FaceTime as it is included with iOS 7.0.4.
What specifically is your problem with FaceTime? Do you have a wifi/internet connection?

  • Tethered Capture issue, LR 5 and Canon 7D Mk II

When I connect the camera and start TC I get the connect message and then a no camera detected, flashing back and forth about once a second -- regularly.  LR/ACR is up to date and reads and downloads the files fine.  Same thing on 2 computers.  Wonder if I have a bad connection in the camera.  Wiggling the connector doesn't make any difference.  And it hasn't been abused.

    Tethered camera support in Lightroom
The above link will provide details of the present camera models that are supported for tethered capture.
The Canon 7D Mk 11 is not yet supported. Canon need to provide the appropriate documentation to enable Adobe to finalize the support.

  • Tethered Capture Canon 600D/T3i and L/R 4

Hi, I asked the question back on the 11th March 2012 without a reply!! and ask it again now "Why is it still not possible to use the tethered capture option with a Canon T3i/600D"?
    I note that the
Canon EOS 5D Mark III — introduced with release candidate 1 (March 29, 2012)
    Canon EOS 60Da
are both included now but for the consumer who cannot afford 5D Mk IIIs Adobe have left them at the starting line.
There must be thousands of 600D/T3i owners who have also purchased Lightroom 4 and feel a little frustrated.
Yes, I no you can use the Canon software to access tethered capture but I own L/R 4 and would as a customer of Adobe prefer to use this option in L/R.
The camera has been on the market for some time so there really is no excuse not to have this option available.
    Thank You
    Russ

    Because it hasn't been implemented.

The 5DIII is NOT supported by the tethering module yet:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom-4.html
I suspect the 60Da is (even though it isn't on the list) because it's just a 60D with a different IR filter and some different software.  It might not be, however, due to the different software.
There must be thousands of 600D/T3i owners who have also purchased Lightroom 4 and feel a little frustrated.
I suspect very few owners of the Rebel series are desperately in need of tethered capture.

Frankly, I'd rather use the Canon software than Lightroom even if it were supported within LR.  LR doesn't allow you control over any camera functions and it doesn't allow you to use LiveView.  It's just a remote shutter release with auto-import.

  • I can't connect my canon mp160 to my new apple iMac desktop. It just won't print although it comes up as the printer. there is no driver for this from canon who states that I probably don't need a driver for this

I can't connect my canon xp160 to my new IMAC. It does recognize it but won't print. there is no driver for this as per Canon and they state that I may not need one. thanks!1

If you want to print, then you will need a printer driver. There is no printer driver available from Apple for the MP160. And the last driver that Canon released for this model was for OS X 10.7. You may be able to install this 10.7 driver, although it is not digitally signed so Gatekeeper will block the installation. To get past Gatekeeper, you can hold down the Control key and click on the installer. A pop-up menu will appear. Select Open. You will then be given the option to install the old driver.
With the driver installed, add the printer via Printers & Scanners and see if you can print.

  • Canon Powershot G7 won't connect

When I connect my Canon Powershot G7 to my MacBook (unibody) running OSX 10.6.4, it won't recognize my camera. Using Eos Utility, iPhoto and Aperture won't work. Other cameras do work without any problem. I understand that I can move the card to a reader. Any tips on how to solve this problem directly?

The cable might be faulty, but try looking on Canon's to see if you can find any troubleshooting tips there.
