LR 5.2 and macBook, air or pro?

Hi,
I am considering buying a macBook to use for images using LR, some video too (don't know which software I will use yet).
Is macBook Air good enough or should I go for the macBook Pro? I am looking at the 13" models, but I also have an eye for the 15" models too if the 13" models is not good enough.
Is the retina display necessary, is that only for the little extra?  I am considering getting an extra monitor too, which means retina is not really important I guess.
- Terje

The 13" Pro has a more powerful processor than the Air, which will be beneficial for the Develop module, exports, preview rendering, etc. and certainly for your video editing.
Having used the Retina display for nearly a year, my 'normal' screens appear really fuzzy now.  I'd miss it if I had to go back to a standard screen.

  • For Macbook pro Retina and Macbook Air Users Please Help

    Hi
i Want Ask Macbook pro Retina and Macbook Air Users how use this macs both ( Only how use  both )
we sit many hours on laptop that will hurt our eyes
what the macbook less strain on eyes
what the best macbook screen not hurt our eyes
sorry my english is not good but i hope you understand me
i want only users how use the both of this macs
    thank you

People are different.  Not everyone experiences eye strain with an LED/LCD screen, or with a retina screen or any other kind of screen.  Some people do.
So no one here can possibly say how you will feel using either one - everyone is different.
You need to find some display models or something and try them yourself and see what you like and how you feel using them.  Anything anyone here has experienced is immaterial - all that matters is what you expereince and we cannot predict that for you.
I stare at computer screens all day long, and have done so for many, many years now.  I've never had a problem with matte LCD, glossy LCD (like my MBP), CRT, plasma or page white.  About the only problem I've ever had is occasionally dry eye, since everyone tends to blink less when concentrating on anything backlit for long periods of time.  Simple artificial tears deals with that, and just learning to stagger regular breaks.

  • Which is better for music production: macbook air or pro?

Which is better for music production: macbook air or pro?

The MacBook Pro has higher specifications, depending
on the model, and then CTO additional upgrades.
The Air does not have a Retina display, but has lesser
specs, so that may make a difference. They still offer a
    low-end MB/Pro w/ optical drive, w/o Retina; specs vary;
it may work in your instance. You'd have 14 days to take
a new Apple computer back, so keep that in mind.
    Good luck!

  • MacBook Air or Pro for iMovie editing?

I am getting a Macbook. I want the air, but i'm concerned that there won't be enough GHz for the imovie projects that I create. Is the air good enough? Or should i get the pro?
    Thanks in advance.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air forums. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Macbook Air or Pro for gaming.

Hi i was wondering if any of you could answer a couple of questions for me, i am looking to buy a new macbook air or pro (not sure which) but i was wondering if i could play a PC game via bootcamp? would it work okay? Also would a wireless PS4/3 or Xbox 1/360 controller work wirelessly?
Which laptop would be more suited to this?
    Thanks, Jake.

A iPad is a touchbased tablet, it has a poor Atom level dual core processor that can do some things, but not a whole lot. The storage isn't so great on them and it needs a computer to operate. Can only run software from the App Store.
The MacBook Air is a lightweight laptop with a real keyboard, but limited other features like no cd/dvd drive, it's the best for ultimate portability and lightweight uses with good features. Can run a lot of third party software no problem.
The MacBook Pro 13" is a mid range laptop with cd/dvd drive, but poor integrated graphics. (little 3D gaming)
The MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz is slightly above that, it has both a integrated graphics and a dedicated graphics card with about the same performance. (not good for 3D gaming)
The 2.2, 2.3 Ghz 15" and 17" MacBook Pro's are professional level laptops and 3D gamers machines with very powerful graphics cards, these are the crown jewel machines in Apple's lineup.

  • Installing Acrobat on iMac and MacBook Air

I just signed up for the online version of Adobe Acrobat. I am having a difficult time installing on my iMac and MacBook Air. I got the "Acrobat 11" DVD to show up on my desktop. And "acrobatpro11_dim" shows up on my software list on the bottom of the screen. But I cannot get Acrobat to install. What do I need to do? Thank you.

    Same problem with MacBook Pro
(Mid 2010 model, i7, 8GB Ram, Running Yosemite).
The .app file does nothing when you double click on it, except ask for the local computer password and put an icon on the dashboard that it is running.  And it runs forever.
Did a reboot, followed the process again, and got the same result.  (insanity, right?)
I have the Trial Version installed.  It doesn't know it is now running under a license either.

  • Which should i buy? Macbook air or pro?

Hi, I have a macbook 2009 that is crashing and need a new laptop.  I love that the Air is light and I do lots of basic family pictures and videos and store on my laptop. I will miss the dvd player if I upgrade but really would like a lighter weight laptop for travel.  Anyone have had both the pro and air and can advise?  I am going to get a 13 inch one.
    Thanks!

Yes, I have the Macbook Pro and Air,....the new Pro doesnt have a DVD player anymore either,...so..
The newest macbook Pro is essentially a larger macbook Air with Retina display and options for speed in increasing prices up to an independent graphics and quad core processor.
both Air and new Pro now have PCIe SSD and permanent RAM.
The Air is the lightweight portable form factor, fast to boot and shut down, but with longer battery life than any of the macbook pro in 13"
Now the new macbook Pro and macbook Air are extremely close in form factor and nature.
    both have 802ac wifi
both have permanent RAM, no superdrive
both are slim profiles and SSD
The only real differences now are (in the most expensive Pros) faster processors and quadcore processors and top end model autonomous graphics.
....and of course the retina display
both are now "very good for travel"

  • Bluetooth connection between iPhone 4 and MacBook Air

How to enable bluetooth connection between iPhone 4 and MacBook Air?

I used to be able to connect my iPhone 4 with my 3 yr old MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. I used my iPhone's personal hotspot more then once to access the Internet on my laptop when there was no wireless. I don't get why it wouldn't work with my new MacBook Air. That just seems silly. My laptop found my iPhone and was able to add the device, but then my iPhone wouldn't connect. Is there really no way around this??

  • How do I change the name I have called my MacBook Air so I can add 11" and 13" into the title of whose computer this is for more clarity when I set up Time Machine and save to it with both computers?  Both are named with "my name and MacBook Air"

I'm still learning the whole Mac thing but these are great machines!  I purchased a MacBook Air 13" and then thought I should also get a MacBook Air 11" for travel.  When I set it up at the Apple store I told the assistant the exact same name for each machine, i.e., "my name and MacBook Air."  What I want to do is go back in and rename both of them adding the 11" and 13" designation to the name so that when I set up Time Machine or whatever else I know exactly which machine is what.  I'm sure it is very simple but I cannot seem to figure it out.  Help please. Thanks.

Go to System Preferences - Sharing and change the computer name there. You can also, optionally, change the name of your hard drive to further clarify the origin of your backups. Click once on the "Macintosh HD" on your desktop, then click its name to allow you to edit it.

  • I have an iPhone 4S, iPad and MacBook Air.  I'm looking for an app or program where I can track time spent of specific projects each day and also document details of each project.  Is there anything available that is synced through iCloud?

I have an iPhone 4S, iPad and MacBook Air.  I'm looking for a program or app that I can sync though iCloud that will allow me to us all of these devices to track time spent on projects each day along with the ability to add specific information about each project.  Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

I recommend you consider Omnifocus.  It is a task management program which runs on the Mac, Iphone & Ipad. I use it for task management and project management.  It let's you store additional information as well.   I sync all three devices through a Mobile Me account and I can enter data on any device and it is available on all devices.  I believe you can also sync through Dropbox.  I'm not sure that you can sync through iCloud yet.  The link to their website is:  www.omnigroup.com.  There may be less expensive alternatives, but this one meets my needs and syncs very well across all devices.

  • Iphone 5C no longer syncs calendar to iPad and MacBook Air

I am having syncing problems with my iPhone 5C to my iPad and MacBook Air. I installed the latest updates on all three devices yesterday.  Now my iPhone will only sync to my other devices when I add or delete an event on my iPhone. It does not sync when events are added or deleted on iPad or MacBook Air. When I add or delete an  event on the iPhone then all previous events syncs on my other devices to my iPhone. How do I fix this?

Yes. I have done everything I can find on Internet. All devices are det the
same with iCloud on, all calendars, push is on.

  • Help needed to sync apps across iMac and Macbook Air via ICloud

I have a new Mac and I want to sync (if possible) my applications such as pic collage etc between my iMac & my Macbook Air.
The main reason I want to do this is because I have set up templates in my macbook air apps and I want to use my iMac through the day and macbook air at night and be able to access these without doing screen share.
I am also looking to pay someone $150 to set up a few things for me. I am in Coorparoo if anyone is interested please contact me here or at
    Thankyou

Tracey almost any program you've purchased from the Apple App Store can be downloaded to multiple computers legally. Programs you've purchased elsewhere are typically licensed either to the user or to the computer and to be completely legal you'd need to determine which is the case for the programs you want to install on more than one computer. Most documents can be saved to iCloud (assuming you have enough space on iCloud) or other cloud services. Cloud services such as DropBox and Microsoft's OneDrive have applications that sync files automatically which allows you to share files between computers. However many (most?) applications don't automatically move templates into the cloud since they tend to be saved in the user's Library folder which often isn't synced. So templates must be dealt with on a case by case basis. (I'll often save a document that I want to use as a template and then make a fresh copy of it when I want to use it as my template)
