LR 5.4 - GPS Auto-tag Disabled

I have a set of pictures that I would like to apply GPS coordinates to.  I load the tracklog and I can can see the pictures on the map with their cooresponding locations.  However, if I go to the Map / Tracklog / Auto-Tag Photos menu item, the menu item is disabled (greyed out).  I can't tag the photos.
If I use the 'lightning bolt on its side' menu at the bottom of the screen, the menu item 'Auto-tag 35 selected photos' is available.  If I click on it, I get a dialog which reads:
Lightroom
Unexpected error performing command: performCommandDesc cound not perform command ag.location.applyTracklogImp (Command was disabled.).
(The same code is apparently not being used to disable the menu item in each location, but once the command runs, it realizes that it's supposed to be disabled.)
I've tried restarting Lightroom to no avail.  Any ideas on how to re-enable GPS track log tagging?
(Lightroom 5.4 on Windows 8.1 Update 1 64-bit.)
Mark

Thanks to lagedor222 for the hint about the "lightning bolt on its side". I never use it - relying on the menu.
Fact remains that Auto-tag photos is greyed out!  I hope Adobe gets onto this soon.

In the Lightroom CC Map module, the "Auto-Tag Photos" choice in the Main Menu > Map > Tracklog submenu is inactive (grayed out) when I try to tag GPS metadata from a tracklog to a selected photo. However, for the same tracklog and selected photo, the Auto-Tag 1 Selected Photo choice in the tracklog menu in the Toolbar is active and I can successfully tag the photo with GPS metadata from the tracklog using it. (Lightroom CC (2015) running on Mac OS X, Ver. 10.10.3). Can someone tell me why this might be?

  • Lightroom 5.0 - Auto-tag photos using tracklog - hangs, does not process

    Hello all,
I am trying to append GPS data to my photo's using a tracklog which I have converted from KLM to GPX. The information loads onto the map just fine, but after selecting the option 'Auto-tag xxx selected photos' the process bar does appear in the top-left corner, but never progresses.
What am I to do? Any assistance is welcomed!

  • Map module auto tags photos to end of tracklog not at correct location? - Examples included

I have a folder of files that were all taken from the air at the same time at the flight was logged - the navigation program on the ipad exports a gpx file that loads up into LR5 with no issues .. it shows up on the map and gives a rollover mouse hint of the corrected (british summer time) time and not the UTC gps time. I've not used the time offset - I assume LR can work out my mac is on BST and compensates automatically.
The times on my photos match up (within a minute or so) to their expected location on the track and all fall within the start and end of the corrected BST times.
Now no matter how many pictures I select in the filmstrip hitting 'Auto Tag selected photo(s)' put all the pictures into a single location exactly at the end of the tracklog. This clearly isn't right but for the life on me I can't see where I'm going wrong.
Ive uploaded a screenshot .. the tracklog and a few of my photos to the following dropbox folder Dropbox - LR example files and I wonder if anyone would be good enough to see if they can duplicate my issue or do it right.. Which may give me a clue as to whats going wrong.
    Many Thanks in Advance

  • Why is auto tagging failing?

Everytime I try to auto-tag any of the scripts I'm currently working from I get an error message, "Auto tagging has failed, please try again later". Is this aspect of the service down. I just upadated my Adobe Air to see if that was the problem but it still persists.

I am having the same issue. I have tried creating a new film script from scratch with only a few lines and auto tagging everytime. "Auto tagging has failed, please try again later". Anyone know why auto tagging is failing? Are there any logs to see what the issue is?

  • UPDATE to "Premiere Pro's #1 missing feature": Auto-Tagging Bins with Shortcuts

In a previous thread (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1179075?start=0&tstart=0) I suggested that Adobe give us FCPX and FCP7-style subclip creation.
I just got some new ideas that improve this previous FR:
AUTO-TAGGING BINS with user assignable SHORTCUTS
    1.   Creating an auto-tagging Bin could be as simple as adding a special character such as ‘#’ in front of its title.  So for example, renaming a Bin from ‘Interviews’ to ‘#Interviews’ would automatically add the tag ‘Interviews’ to the metadata of all clips within it.  Users could even add several auto-tags to a single Bin.  For example, by naming a Bin ‘University #Interviews #Staff’, any clips added to that bin would automatically inherit the searchable metadata tags ‘Interview’ and ‘Staff’, but not ‘University’ since it doesn't have the ‘#’ symbol added in front of it.
    2.  Contrary to FCPX’s 'keyword collections' approach, my approach would also allow Bin/Sub Bin tagging hierarchies.  Imagine the following Bin structure: A parent Bin named ‘Interviews’ containing 3 sub-Bins named ‘Staff’, ‘Students’ and ‘Sound bites’.  Adding an auto-tag to the parent Bin, (e.g. changing the name to ‘#Interviews’) would automatically propagate that tag to the contents of all sub-Bins!  The organizational power of this would be amazing!
    3.  At any time, a user could remove metadata tags from clips simply by dragging the clips out of an auto-tagging Bin, or by removing the auto-tag from the Bin itself.
    4.  Any number of Bins, whether enabled for auto-tagging or not, could be given keyboard shortcuts.  Doing so could be as simple as selecting a new ‘Assign shortcut’ option from the Bin’s context menu, which would automatically bring up the ‘Keyboard Shortcuts’ window, with a new ‘Bins’ root folder twirled open and ready for use (in addition to the current root folders: ‘Application’, ‘Panels’ and ‘Tools’).  For easy visual reference, this ‘Bins’ root folder would automatically be populated with the names of every Project Window Bin, in their current hierarchy.  So, using the previous example, the Bin ‘Interviews’ would have a twirly arrow to twirl down/up its sub-Bins ‘Staff’, ‘Students’ and ‘Sound bites’.
    5. Any time a user adds a shortcut to a bin, that shortcut would appear at the end of the Bin’s name (e.g. adding the shortcut ’2′ to the Bin ‘Interviews’ would result in the Bin’s name appearing like this: ‘Interviews {2}’).  Thus users would always have a quick visual reference for remembering shortcuts.
    6. These options would give users 4 great ways to add clips/sub-clips to Bins for sorting and/or auto-tagging:
Use a Bin’s shortcut to send a clip’s in/out range from the Source Monitor to the Bin.
Use a Bin’s shortcut to create sub-clips of 1 or more selected clips in the Timeline (something you can’t do in FCPX!)
    Drag&drop a clip’s in/out range from the Source Monitor to a Bin.
Drag&drop 1 or more clips from the Timeline to automatically create subclips that inherit any present auto-tags.
IMHO, FCPX still has superior organizational tools vs PP, at the moment, but with the suggested features above, PP would truly one-up FCPX in this regard!
Hopefully all of this is clear.  Thoughts?  Comments?

  • Extractions from Searchable PDFs - Even After Auto-Tagging Cannot Save as PDF/A

I'm currently extracting relevant parts from 100+ page PDF files, but cannot save the extractions as PDF/A if they come from a searchable version, even after adding auto-tagging via the Accessibility function, but I can do so if they come from a non-searchable version of the PDF. Is this normal? If so, how do I convert a searchable PDF to a non-searchable one so that I can save its extracted pages as PDF/A?
After looking into this further, it now seems as though I cannot convert certain documents, whether searchable or non-searchable, into PDF/A. Could the person who sent these to me have saved them in a way to prevent conversion into PDF/A? This is a required standard for legal documents.
Message was edited by: Paul Ulrich

In Preflight, after I use "analyse and fix", three red X's appear next to
    (1) Convert to PDF/A-1a;
    (2) PDF document is not compliant with PDF/A-1a (2005); and
    (3) True Type font has differences to standard encoding but is not a symbolic font.
Does this mean it could be compliant with PDF/A-1b, which would be good enough for legal documents (just need to be PDF/A)? However, with other documents that reached PDF/A-1b, when I open them, I light grey band appears at the top saying they purport to be PDF/A Compliant. That, however, does not happen with these documents... so how do I know if they are PDF/A okay?

  • Auto Tag Cleaner Cras

Does anybody know how to stop the auto tag cleaner from crashing?
    thanx

    scorpion_saga,
When it crashes, look at the window behind the error and see which file it crashed on. Move that file to a holding spot and run the cleaner again. I had to do this with my collection and found 3-4 bad files that caused the problem. I just manually re-tagged these and put them back, but I expect that they had some minor issues with the header information that the tag cleaner simply couldn't handle.

  • External Hard drive Auto-sleep Disable

I have a problem with my external drive, a Seagate GoFlex 2TB. Basically the drive goes to sleep while I am transfering files and freezes up Finder. From what I have read, a possible solution would be to disable the auto sleep in the drive firmware but I am unable to find software that will allow me to do this. Using the seettings in Engery Preferences does not effect the external drive. It is appartent that I can change the sleep timer Using CHUD Ulitities, which is included in XCode in Lion, so I am waiting for XCode to download. I have no idea where to start with CHUD though, any suggestions as to another application that will help me out with this problem, or how to change the Sleep timer using CHUD?
    Thanks

No, Energy Saver prefs have no effect on external drives.
CHUD is a simple GUI interface that lets you set the interval that each disk is pinged. It will keep the disk spinning but that's not always desireable, especially if the disk tends to run hot.
I used CHUD when I was having an issue with some chained FW disks and it did keep it spinning, although I feared more for the disk than the chain. It didn't really solve my issue, so I found another workaround. Hard disks spin down after about 15 minutes of inactivity for a reason.

  • Auto Start Disable

This is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to be a programmer to not have Adobe videos auto start as soon as the page opens on CNN or whatever.  At work I often want to have a moment. Or if there's a text story below, I want to read the story and not view the video at all.
WHY CAN'T I DISABLE AUTO START??

    Happy,
Your iMac (and Mac OS X) has excellent support for "multiple users". I would suggest reading up on the concept. Just click on Help in the Finder and search for "multiple users". Lots of information.
This way, your son can have IM launch at start up, while you won't even have access to it.
It will also prevent him from mucking up "your" computer with his "necessary" add-ons. For example, LimeWire.

  • Auto Rotate Disable for Photos ....... Sort-of ..... Trick / Tip

I have many photos and many are in the wrong Rotation in my Ipod and wanted to disable the Auto-Rotate feature but no luck since Apple forgot to Add the feature to turn it off.......(STUPID APPLE) but no worries, Apple will add it to a future update and charge you for it!.
But I have found an easy way to show off my photos in the right orientation and disabling/tricking the feature momentarily and Here is how I do it:
Open the Photo you desire that has the wrong orientation.
Hold the Ipod/Iphone in the orientation where the Photo is in the right Position,( i.e: if your photo is in landscape while holding it in the upright position.).
All you have to do now is, with two fingers touch and hold near the bottom of the screen as close to the edge of the Ipod/Iphone as you can, so you can still see 95% of the Photo and then Rotate to the right orientation and there you go! your photo remains and does not Auto Rotate, keep holding until you have shown the photo to your friends.
All this does is to freeze the photo, simply put, it is thinking you are either enlarging or going to the next photo, it doesn't disable the feature it is simply waiting for you to make a decision.

As of 10.1.2 we no longer talk about "auto-rotate and center". Page scaling for 1-up output is always registered to the center point, and the new dialog only refers to orientation.
Ultimately of you want a page to be printed at 100% physical scale, you need to supply users with a PDF that has the correct paper size and margins wide enough to stay within their printer working zones. In that case, the setting for scale and rotate is meaningless, as "fit", "shrink" and "actual" will all equal 100%. If the paper size matches, rotating a page has no bearing on the X/Y position - it's there to handle cases where the document is portrait but the printer tray is landscape, or vice-versa. If for example you open a US Letter portrait page and "force" it to print in landscape to a printer with a portrait feed tray, it is not rotated and squished into the middle of the page - aside from coming out the machine sideways it'll look no different.

    Hi,

yes it is. (and adobe's policy is to ignore non-cloud questions because this is the cloud forum, but there is no non-cloud forum, and the single program forums won't answer that kind of thing either. I did pay for this application.)
