LR 6 conversion will lr 5 still work

have all photos and catalog on external drive. I have one machine with standalone lr 5 and a laptop with lr cc 6. if I update the catalog
on the laptop to lr 6 cc will it still work on the lr 5 machine. I can't upgrade it until win 10 comes out because it has a 32 bit oper system.
Need to know before I do any work on my catalog.

Adobe upgraded the catalog format so Lightroom 5 will still work with its own catalog, but if you make any changes to a catalog in Lightroom 6 then LR5 won't be able to read that...
You could however work independently on the two releases and then later merge/upgrade the two versions' catalogs together. For more information on how to do that, see this comment and response:

Once you jail break Apple won't help with the machine. I'm not even sure if they'll honor an 'out of warranty' replacement.

10.6 is Intel only. To continue the use of older non-Intel software, that software must work with Rosetta emulation (which almost evrything does). Be sure that when you are installing 10.6, the option to add Rosetta emulation to Mac OS X 10.6 is selected.

My 2003 PowerBook G4 1Ghz is still working flawlessly. I treated to to a new battery about a years ago.
A friend has three circa 1998 PowerBook G3 "Wallstreets" that he uses every day. All three are running Panther 10.3.9 with the help of XPostfacto. I upgraded the hard drives to more modern 5400 rpm drives of 40 and 60G, and maxed the RAM on two to 512MB. They won't die.
With care, it's likely that you'll run out of software support before the hardware caves. That;s what my Wallstreet friends is discovering.

We are laying a cornerstone for our church in June and want to store a device on which we can record some video and documents. I have an old iPhone 3G that I think would be perfect. The only question is, will it still work when the cornerstone is opened in 2111? If we seal it in an airtight container and include a charger with instructions to charge first, will it work? yes, we realize a cornerstone is not a very good place to store something for 100 years. This stone already had something in it from 1911, a Bible and a 3 page letter. The Bible was in very poor condition and the only thing that could be read on the letter is the pre-printed letterhead--all of the writing had disappeared! And we had 3 TV news crews covering it--where was Geraldo when we needed him? So I suppose another option would be a sort of treasure hunt--place something in the cornerstone that would lead folk to some secret location inside the building with the time capsule. Still would be fun if it were an iPhone as the icon for our age!

Okay, typical scenario occurred when I got home today. I was going to the bathroom to do my business, but upon entering, my iPod (4th gen) flies out of my hand and into the toilet. Thankfully, said toilet was filled with clean water only when my iPod decided to go for a swim, but the screen still turned black when I was frantically pressing the lock button in hopes that it would turn out okay. So after that, I went onto the computer and looked up what to do. First thing that I learned: It was NOT a good idea to try and turn it on. I pressed and held the lock button once or twice to see if I could actually turn it off, but I have no idea if that made it worse or not (probably so). After researching for a few minutes, I finally found that putting the iPod into uncooked rice would help soak up the water, and I did just that. However, I also read that you have to make sure the device is off, otherwise the iPod will have an increased chance of not functioning ever again. So about 40-55 minutes later, I fished my iPod out of the rice (like an impatient idiot) and held up a flashlight to it so that I could see if it was truly off. After pressing and holding the lock button one more time, I finally managed to see a very dim image of my lock screen. With that, I was finally able to turn my device off (for sure this time), and I returned it to its resting place in a bowl of rice. So my question is, is there even a chance that my iPod will still function somewhat properly when I check on it? And how much should I wait? I heard that waiting 24-48 hours would be sufficient enough, but I want to make sure. Serious answers only, please. Thanks so much.

To dry out an iPod it is recommeded that you place in a ziplock bag with dry uncook white rice for a week. Changing the rice every couple of days.
You can try that.
After trying the drying out, take to Apple for an out of warranty replacement for which you will be charge because it will probably still not work correctly after the drying out process.

Airport Extreme connected via wifi -- will remote MobileMe still work?

I have two Macs: a desktop and a laptop. I have the latest software and I have MobileMe. My internet is physically connected to the desktop computer. The laptop is connected via wifi using a non-Apple router.
According to Apple's website concerning the AirPort Extreme, "Say you’re traveling and you need a file on the hard drive connected to your AirPort Extreme back at home. If you’re a MobileMe member using Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard, no problem. You can access all the files on your shared drive over the Internet."
My question is this: if I attach an Airport Extreme to the laptop -- which is connected via wifi to the network -- will I still be able to access the attached hard drive via MobileMe while traveling, or does this work only if the Airport Extreme is directly wired to the internet?

It seems Airplay makes some magic, but straight driver of OSX over audio device don´t.
What a PIA (Pain in the ***). They can put Gigabits of audio information in the optical link but they can´t add a layer adding a header of some bytes to the packets, adressed to a smart DAC than can control the analog output with two bytes of information.
IEEE, ¿Will you make a layer specification for smart DACs? Life and devices use would be much simpler.
Apple in the meantime makes the magic he is able with Airplay.

Will the internet still work if no 3g network?

I ordered an Ipad 3g verizon and I live in Sun Valley Idaho where there is no 3g coverage. I have a verizon phone and the internet works. So will the Ipad work too? Just not at 3g speeds? I know I can always connect to wi-fi just want to know if it will work without as well.

I have a old blackberry storm (piece of crap) trying to wait for Iphone 5. Don't know how to see what type of connection it is using. It says 1XEV up in the corner of the screen don't know if that means anything.
