LR and ARC 4.4

How do you install ARC 4.4 into LR 1.3.1? Thanks, Bruce

ACR operates as a plugin in Photoshop.
Lightroom is a separate program which uses the same conversion engine as ACR, which forms part of the program so you do not need to install ACR.
Another way to look at it is that Lightroom is ACR with other functions (modules) added, The Library module for managing your files, Slideshow and Web for enabling viewing and Print for printing.
You do not need to have Photoshop installed for LR to carry out its functions.

  • Need help regarding converting text to Lines and Arcs.

    In my program i have text.Lets say the text is JAVA.
    Now i need to group that text(JAVA) in the form of line and arcs.
    Its like organizing lines and arcs and make it looks like a text(JAVA).
    Can we have such a possibilities to do that?
    Please help regarding this!!
    Thanks in Advance.
    Boopathy.

    Have a look at TextLayout class (http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/awt/font/TextLayout.html)
    Graphics2D g = ...;
    Point2D loc = ...;
    Font font = Font.getFont("Helvetica-bold-italic");
    FontRenderContext frc = g.getFontRenderContext();
    TextLayout layout = new TextLayout("This is a string", font, frc);
    Shape shape = layout.getOutline(null);

  • Dwell During Sequence of Blended Lines and Arcs

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a motion profile using blending  that  completes an ordered sequence of moves,mostly,it works great. But in some Speed Setting ,it don't work fine that come to a quite small speed as if there is a dwell.
    I am using  PCI 7334 and the open loop mode.
    Attachments:
    Sequence of Blended Lines and Arcs 1.vi ‏88 KB

    Hi Scott,
    positive values of the blend factor are interpreted as a delay[ms] between consecutive moves. You can change the blend factor for each blend operation.
    Running a complete motion sequence in an onboard program is not the intended use case of onboard programming and in fact in such a scenario there are no significant advantages compared to a host program in terms of execution speed and jitter. The reason for that is the fact, that onboard programs run on a quite slow controller in a low-priority thread, so this approach is not recommended.
    The most common use case of onboard programming is stopping a move at an event like exceeding a torque limit. Running such a task in an onboard program adds safety, as it runs independently from the (Windows) application.
    If your moves are too short and too fast for blending, you shoudl consider using contouring instead. Contouring provides the ultimate flexibility for defining motion profiles, including strictly timed delays.
    If you need more information, please add some more specific information to your next post (motion control board type, programming environment, motor type, drive,..)
    Kind regards,

  • Polylines to Lines and Arcs

    I'm getting some metal cut-outs done of a design I did up in Photoshop and converted in Illustrator, but the end product is not that nice because Mr Metalworker has said "the Drawing file is in Polylines (many lines to make up one) because of this the laser takes them as individual contours and cuts it at less than half speed."
    He goes on to say that I need to "convert it into ‘lines and arcs’ and not ‘polylines’ then I think we can get to the point where no cleaning, filing or deburring needs to take place."
    How do I do this?  I'm a bit naive when it comes to this sort of thing and googling has led me to believe I need to do it in a CAD program?

    vector info is like a join the dots.
    image or pixel art is a grid of different coloured square pixels.
    Google will provide much info on this.
    Rasterizing is a pixel function. and will not be what you want to do.
    image trace is getting closer, but it is not accurate and with cause the issues described by your laser guy.
    Illustrator will do strange things with the fill of objects when exporting to DXF. (DXF is probably what you laser guy wants.)
    you will need to make sure everything has no fill and a black outline before exporting.
    I am guessing but if his machine uses Gcode(and I believe most still do), then he want straight lines and basic arcs.
    even getting say an Oval shape in to Gcode is complex.
    He should have Cam software to help with this as long as he gets a clean DXF file.
    here is part of your art redrawn.
    it will give you an idea on what you want it to look like.

  • Lightroom 2.0 and ARC 4.5 Installation

    Hi,
    I installed ARC 4.5 update software and it appears in CS3 but not in Lightroom 2 which shows ARC 4.4 in Lens Calibration.
    I re installed Lightroom 2 software and it did not update to ARC 4.5
    Any suggestions on how I can install ARC 4.5 so it shows in Lightroom Lens Calibration.
    I checked Lightroom FAQ at this URL (http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc34324/) and there was no answer that made ARC 4.5 load into Lightroom Lens Calibration
    Thank You,
    Hersul

    The ACR profile that shows in LR is the latest version profile for your particular camera model. LR v 2.0 has the latest ACR engine. For my Oly E300 I have 2.4; 4.4 (the latest update profile).
    In PS you require the ACR plugin to process raw files, in LR ACR engine is a core function of the program its not a plugin. If you are running the latest version of LR you are running the latest version of ACR.
    PS, sorry to intrude Jeff you are the expert here.

  • Spiral and Arc Tool keyboard increments too big

    Hello,
    I'm having problems with the up and down arrow keys keyboard shortcuts in both of these tools. In the Arc Tool, the angle lowers or raises like crazy, same thing in the Spiral Tool, when instead of removing/adding a segment at a time it goes something like: 1-12-28 or sometimes 1-28. Running on Mac OS 10.6.2

    D,
    Running on Mac OS 10.6.2
    Literally.
    Does it happen with other tools, and with other functions too? In other words, is it an arrow issue or general tool issue or specific tool issue?
    You might try Cmd+Option+Shift during startup to see whether it is an underlying preference issue, or you could move the file/folder if you like your settings, to avoid losing them unnecessarily, see Move the folder

    thanks,
    baskar.l

    Since you hide your database version, there's no accurate answer possible (sometimes Oracle performs changes), this is for 10g concerning the archivelog deletion policy (it has changed significantly in 11g):
    ARCHIVELOG DELETIONPOLICYTO ( APPLIED ON STANDBY | NONE | CLEAR ) Governs archived redo log deletion policy for the flash recovery area. Possible settings are:
    •APPLIED ON STANDBY - enables flash recovery area to delete archivelogs that are applied on mandatory standby. See Oracle Data Guard Concepts and Administration for details.
    •NONE - enables flash recovery area to delete archivelogs that are backed up to tertiary device and that are obsolete based on the configured backup retention policy. This is the default configuration.
    •CLEAR - clears the deletion policy and returns the specified configuration to default value. The default value is NONE.
    As you can see there's no equivalent to 'REDUNDANCY n'.

    Jem,
    Pardon me if I sound rude by suggesting that before you launch into an expensive printing job (which could result in disastrous consequences if you don't do it right) that you actually learn how to use the program first. You may also want to learn something about the offset printing process and how to prepare print jobs.
    Even many Illustrator novices know that there is no such thing as a background in Illustrator, in the sense that there is in Photoshop. You will need to PLACE your Photoshop background as a high resolution CMYK tiff in the provided template. That's the answer to your second question. I don't really understand your first question. Maybe someone else will. Are you simply asking, "where do I begin?" If so, then you REALLY REALLY need to read a book on how to use Illustrator. The Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book might be the place to start.

    How to root 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.587 & 4.1.B.0.431)
    We cannot root 4.1.B.0.587 directly, so to root it we first flash 4.1.A.0.562 kernel, run the rooting toolkit and in the end flash 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
    Few devices don't have their own 4.1.A.0.562 kernel, so we need to flash the 4.1.A.0.562 kernel of other devices just to root. However all devices have 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
    Follow all the steps.
    Go to settings > Security > Mark  "Unknown sources"
    Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging
    Settings > Xperia > connectivity > USB connection mode > select MSC mode
    Download Flashtool
    Windows Users > Flashtool
    Linux Users > Flashtool ( From previous release tab, download 0.9.0.0 version)
    After installing flashtool, reboot your PC.
    1 ) Download the respective 4.1.A.0.562 kernel to flash
         Arc and Arc S  - Kernel
         Ray                -  Kernel
         Neo/Neo V      -  Kernel
         LwW, Mini       - Kernel
         Active             -  Kernel
         Neo L             -  Kernel
         All other users -  Kernel or even try the kernels for Arc S and Ray
    2) Go to C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > delete everything present and put the downloaded kernel
    3)  Run Flashtool > click on the flashing icon ( left side below "file" option)
    Select flashmode > ok
    Setup should be like this > select OK
    Flashtool Setup Screenshot
    Follow the steps, connect your mobile and flash. Note: on devices with touch navigation keys, hold volume down key instead of back button while connecting your device.
    Flashtool may show error after flashing kernel, no worries. Even your build number and android version won't change. Everything would remain same so please don't visit phone's settings to check anything
    4) After flashing restart your device, It may not start completely, may remain at Sony logo or with blank/black screen.
    Whatever the status is, just restart your device and proceed with the rooting >
    Download Rooitng toolkit > 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 and extract it.
    ( Make sure you close flashtool before running the rooting toolkit )
    Now  connect your mobile to PC ( Mobile should be ON)  and wait for 2 minutes. Then run the rooting toolkit. When it says all done, close it. disconnect your phone and switch it off ( By pressing power button/ or by taking out the battery and reinserting it).
    5) Download Kerenls, If you are on 4.1.b.0.431 rom then download the respective kernel, same goes for 4.1.B.0.587
    For Neo L > Download the kernel version on which your phone is running 4.1.B.0.626 or  4.1.B.0.631

  • Having problem with blending arcs together

    Hi Jochen!
      I'm developing a 3-axis plasma cutter software. It's uses g-codes for calculating the path of motions and using blend function for continous moves. Everything works fine including continously blending short straight line moves, but sometimes blending arcs resulting high following error. Mainly when i try to blend little arc segment with a big one. This problem doesn't occur when i set blend factor to 0. I tried many different trajectory and arc parameters with the "Sequence of Blended Lines and Arcs.vi" example, but it resulted the same effect. With some trajectory parameters i can blend the short arc segment with the big one without following errors, but i still don't know what causes this problem. This situation is same on two different cnc machine. One of them is using 1 servo and 2 stepper axis in closed loop with different encoder resolutions. The other one is using 3 stepper axis with different step/rev in open loop. The effect is the same. Blending little arc with a big one (approximately r1:r2=1:8), resulting following error and the motors jumps a little.
    - PCI-7340, umi-7774
    - LabView 8.5, Motion 7.6
    Waiting for hints! Thank you!

    Nandi,
    sorry for the late response, but I have had to gather some equipment first to reproduce this behavior. I have setup a very similar system with a servo and a closed loop stepper and I have used your code for a test.
    The bad news is, that I couldn't reproduce the problem. First I have worked with two servos but I couldn't see a significant following error with those, but in fact I wouldn't have expected a sustaining following error with a servo at all, as servos can compensate following errors during the moves.
    In a next step I have used a servo and a closed loop stepper but I have seen the same result. No significant following error during the move. I have also switched the X and Y axes, but there was no change. I have also played around with the other move parameters but again, no significant following error.
    With this said, I don't think that we are facing a general issue here that is related to 73xx motion control boards.
    To me this looks more like an issue that is related to problems with load inertia and high acceleration values. In fact if you reduce the radius of an arc but keep the vector speed, the forces become higher and in your case they seem to become too high for the stepper motors. A stepper motor can't compensate step loss during the move. That's why you see this constant following error.
    I hope this analysis hits the bull's eye.
    Kind regards,
    Jochen

  • Standby db-EE edition and Standard edition

    Dear friends,
    10g on solaris 10.
    What are the differences in standby db when using a enterprise edition and standard edition ?..
    Any input will be of great help
    Kai

    Niall and team
    I have read your presentation - "You Probably Don't need dataguard" and I tried it out on test database. I setup a manual standby database, archivelog is manually copied to standby db.
    Maybe you have an idea on regarding SCN or archivelog that is not present but Oracle is asking/suggestion during recovery procedure..
    environment:
    2 virtual box - Solaris 10 Virtual Machine host on Windows XP
    Oracle 10.2.0 Standard Edition
    Primary DB host name: SE
    Standby DB host name: SE2
    archive dest = /export/home/oracle/archive (same on both machine)
    db file = /export/home/oracle/oradata/se , /export/home/oracle/oradata/se2 --> so I used db_file convert parameter in init.ora
    Steps:
    On the newly created database, create a test table and insert values.
    SQL> create table test(a number) tablespace users;
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into test values(&a);
    Enter value for a: 1
    old 1: insert into test values(&a)
    new 1: insert into test values(1)
    1 row created.
    SQL> /
    Enter value for a: 21
    old 1: insert into test values(&a)
    new 1: insert into test values(21)
    1 row created.
    SQL> /
    Enter value for a: 31
    old 1: insert into test values(&a)
    new 1: insert into test values(31)
    1 row created.
    SQL> /
    Enter value for a: 41
    old 1: insert into test values(&a)
    new 1: insert into test values(41)
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> alter system archive log current;
    System altered.
    SQL>

    -rw-r----- 1 oracle oinstall 21378048 Feb 24 15:52 1_2_711819574.dbf
    $
    Again, insert some values to test table,
    SQL> insert into test values(&a);
    Enter value for a: 33
    old 1: insert into test values(&a)
    new 1: insert into test values(33)
    1 row created.
    SQL> /
    Enter value for a: 44
    old 1: insert into test values(&a)

  • Calculating arc tangent of 0.12 degrees

    ActionScript really does know to be annoyed sometimes!
    I'm trying to calculate arc tangent of a number.
    I'm using the following code:
    arctg_mi = Math.atan(Math.PI/180 * 0.12)
    As you can see, I need to calculate arc tangent of 0.12
    degrees. Problem is that it just cannot be done. I'm not an expert
    of mathematics, but it seems that radian system does not behave
    like degrees system when it comes to arc tangent!
    I used Windows' Calculator, and arc tangent of 0.12 in
    degrees system is about 6.84, which is right. But when I switch to
    radian system, then convert 0.12 degrees to radians, and then try
    to calculate, I get the wrong value. Totally wrong!
    Solution? Either I am so stupid that I missed some ordinary
    procedure in all of this, or these two systems are not comparable.
    Or do I need to convert the value I get back to degrees
    system somehow?
    The easiest thing to do would be to switch Flash to degrees
    system, but that can't be done, so...
    Help, please...

    It comes out to 6.84 in Flash too, if you do it right. First
    off, degrees
    per radian is 180/Pi not Pi/180. And you want to get the
    arctangent of the
    value, which comes out in radians, then convert to degrees -
    you don't want
    to take the arctangent of the degrees....
    So:
    var degreesPerRadian = 180.0 / Math.PI;
    trace(Math.atan(0.12) * degreesPerRadian)

  • Raw conversion to JPG better with DPP than ARC 5.X

    I started testing conversion from raw to jpg with Canon's Digital Photo Professional and ARC 5.x (CS4) and noticed a much better conversion with DPP. At low ISOs does I don't see much difference, however at 800+ it is very noticeable. I hate to give up the work flow of Bridge and ACR and go back to using DPP. Is there anything that can be done to improve this?

    Quoting from an old post of mine, with apologies to all who have read it before:
    This has been covered ad nauseam here. Please do a forum search for more details.
    Camera manufacturers, Canon and Nikon in particular, perform in-camera RAW to JPEG conversions designed to generate the over-saturated, over-contrasty and over-sharpened images that appeal to most amateurs.
    Their stand-alone RAW conversion software also performs the same conversion to your RAW images.
    Noise is also hidden by compressing the shadows so you don't see much of the noise inherent in the image.
    Adobe Camera Raw, ACR, on the other hand, comes with default settings designed to give you the most detail possible
    (even if this sometimes means revealing some of the noise hidden by the camera manufacturers in their RAW conversion software), as well as the most natural images.
    That being said, you can calibrate your camera to ACR and come up with your own settings to produce exactly what you want, including the JPEG-look of the camera manufacturer, and save that as your profile.
    The key is to learn how to use ACR properly and to calibrate your camera to ACR.
    The camera calibration refines the settings by letting you adjust for the exact sensor response of your individual camera unit rather than the average of a sampling of such unites provided by Adobe.
    The ACR defaults are nothing more than a suggested starting point.
    The color temperature won't necessarily match either.

  • Geodetic Arc

    I have a polygon made up of lines and arcs which I need to store as a geodetic geometry. The lines will become great circle arcs, which is exactly what I want. The arcs are giving me problems.
    For the arcs I have the arc center, the start and end coordinates (lat, long) and the surface radius. I plan to derive the coordinates of a third point on the arc surface and then use sdo_arc_densify to create a polyline approximation of the arc and make that a geodetic geometry.
    I have three questions: Does this seem a sensible approach? How do I derive that third point? Will this approach work for rhumb lines?

    Hi,
    The arc densify routine does not densify geodetic circular arcs or circles, which are by definition invalid in geodetic space. You can project the data using a coordinate system transformation routine, densify, and then reproject back to wgs 84. Also, the "finest" tolerance supported in Oracle for geodetic data is 0.05 meters (5 centimers).
    If you are using Oracle 10g, you might want to check out sdo_util.circle_polygon, where you specify:
    CENTER_LONGITUDE
    CENTER_LATITUDE
    RADIUS
    ARC_TOLERANCE
    and we return the approximate circle in WGS-84 (in fact, this function only returns data in wgs-84).
    I hope this helps.

  • Spark/arc when USB touched imac case

    Hi
    I have noticed when plugging into the USB if I touch the imac case it arc's, should I be worried about this? How can I stop it?
    Thanks

    I wouldn't "double-check" anything. I'd call Apple ASAP, talk to a hardware tech and let that person tell you what to do. Electrical sparks and arcs are something I'd let an expert diagnose.
