LR CC -Pentax Lens support??

I have just get the new LR CC. New features looks great... but...
I'm using Pentax Camera (yes... I do... )
And in the lens correction Panel, I don't see "Pentax" as an option. In the last version of LR (5) I have access to all Pentax Lenses, even the new one...
Is it something they have forget? Is it just me?

@dj_paige i think it's gone because the licence files were erased. yesterday when i uninstalled 5.7.1 trying to launch LR CC, i reinstalled it, clicked on "i have a licence" and the serial number prompt was allready filled (but with dots, no chance to write it down). Then, lightroom 5.7.1 disapeared from my creative cloud . i've downloaded the package from adobe and now, it ask for a serial number. i've tried the serial number "photography plan" you can find under your account section, but it don't match.
@canis_dirus_arctos  :  thanks for your moral support buddy well, i cannot work and i will be shot dead by my client....
My win7 64 system is very stable and smooth, with good hardware and nothing "special" installed. it runs photoshop and LR 5 like a charm.
i've tried too :
- changing my windows username
- removing windows password
- remove all adobe product (flash, air, acrobat reader, extension manager, ... ) then reinstall
- remove windows firewall and antivirus software
- disconnect everything, just mouse and keyboard
- run in windows safe mode
i'm not ready to reinstall the whole system to see if it changes something ... and you ?

  • With LR4, I can't select a Pentax lens for my Pentax camera

I have a Pentax SLR (Pentax *ist DS) with a Pentax lens (smc PENTAX-DA*50-135mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM) but LR4 does not allow me to choose manually this Pentax lens when I have taken in Jpeg mode.
The Pentax brand don't appear while the uncompatible brands as Apple, Nikon, Canon or Sony appear in the proposed list.
The brand Pentax is explicitly in the EXIF informations.
    This is a bug

Pentax themselves provide the profiles. A full list is here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.html
That lens is listed. Most profiles are created for Raw files, not for JPEG.

What is the purpose of the Serial / Normal switch on the SUP-NS3S lens support.

    Hello Dkaer,
The SUP-NS3S lens support is a very specific product and handled a bit differently than our consumer [and even professional] level equipment.  Meaning, we will need to consult with our broadcast lens engineers to provide a complete answer.  Once they respond back to us, the response will be posted either back to this forum thread, or relayed via email directly to you.
Thank you for your patience on this matter.  We hope you have a great day.

  • Lens Support for Emount

When is Adobe going to offer Lightroom and Photoshop lens support for Sony Emount lenses 50 mm F 1.8 and Sony Zeiss 24 mm f 1.8? Why hasn't this already happened?

In reality lens profiles are available for these two lenses and many more using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader Brett mentioned and provided a link.
Since all of the current Sony NEX cameras use APS-C sensor size, you can use the lens profiles created using any Sony NEX camera model (NEX-5, NEX-6, NEX-7). Just be aware that there are separate JPEG and raw profiles.

  • Fuji xt-1 camera and lens support

I just purchase the Fuji XT-1 camera and lenses, I don't see   lens support under lens correction in the development module, I don't see Fuji supported.
Is there support for Fuji and the x series lenses?
    Thanks in advance.

The XT1 files have built-in lens correction in Adobe raw converters, although in the sample file I found, it was only for Chromatic Aberration, so the lenses must be very good if they don't need distortion correction:

Can anyone tell me what the height of the camera from the base to the center of the lens mount is?  Waiting on arrival of my fs7 and trying to determine a lens support solution for a fairly long and heavy yet narrow diameter slr lens.  Not entirely sure any of the rail mountined lens supports I see on B&H are tall enough.

What has changed recently on your computer? Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw share a number of locations and functions - Raw cache, camera calibration profiles, lens profiles - so if you have uninstalled ACR in some unusually aggressive way, that might affect LR I suppose. However normally, this kind of thing is treated as user data AFAICT, and left alone. A reinstall of LR should have put back whatever needs to be there.
BTW, you do not have to match the camera body, only find a profile for the lens itself. As I understand it, the profile works the same, whatever body was used to generate it (apart from where the sensor format size is different, in which case - though this does not affect Pentax - a fullframe profile can be used with a crop sensor, but not vice versa). All Pentax profiles available (Q series or 645 aside) are going to be for APS-C crop, so any of them should work for you.
I use a K-5 and can see the 10-17 profile with Raw images, along with more than a screenful of others. I have not actively downloaded more than a couple of these, they have come from standard LR installation. These are simply structured text files; it is possible they may have been moved somehow but I don't see how. There are two locations monitored for these: one is a system (program data) location which is where the application installs or downloads them, and one in the user area where any you generate or edit as the user login, can be saved. The paths to these locations differ a little between various OS versions.
The Adobe supplied filename is: "PENTAX (smc PENTAX-DA 10-17mm F3.5-4.5 ED [IF] Fisheye zoom) - RAW.lcp" however there may be other profiles floating around in the community as well. This profile is looking for a Lens ID of "4 247".
Perhaps the lens profile is simply not being detected? There was a change made some time back by Pentax, from 2-byte to 3-byte lens ID code format (3rd byte zeroed I think) and this caused problems at the time with LR. You can manually browse to a lens and select "set default" to fix detection problems, assuming the list you see includes it. 10mm is right on the limit of what LR supports, apparently, and I believe there are difficulties any wider than that. Perhaps try with an image taken at a longer than 10mm focal length?

  • Pentax lens type not displayed in exif data.

I have an SMC Pentax-DA 18-250mm lens, which I use on my K10D. I save the raw files in .dng format directly on to the memory card, then import them unchanged into LR.
LR has persistently refused to show the lens type in the exif data for this lens - other Pentax lenses that I have work fine, as do all the other lenses that I have used in the past. This applies to all LR versions, including the current v2.1 beta. It DOES correctly show the actual focal length used for the shot, and the 35mm equivalent.
The lens type data is definitely present in the .dng files - the Pentax supplied raw convertor shows it.
I know the lens is a relatively model from Pentax, but I bought it nearly a year ago now, and LR has undergone several updates since then - enough time for LR to catch up, I would have thought?
It is an annoyance, rather than a big deal, but I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments.
    Cheers
    Steve Morton

I am testing Lightroom 2. I believe this problem is still occuring.
    Can this be confirmed?

  • Pentax Lens Model Data in Aperture

I have finally figured out how to get Aperture to display Lens Model EXIF data for Pentax cameras.
The problem is that Aperture is looking for that date in one specific field, but Pentax stores it in another. The solution is rather like what we did back when Aperture could not import PEF files. Using exiftool, it's possible to copy the the lens model data from the field Pentax puts it in to the field Aperture expects to find it in.
This is a procedure you can use (a) for importing new pictures and (b) modifying selected pictures in your Aperture library.
Assuming you've installed the exiftool library, here are the steps I have used successfully:
    1. Have the pictures you want modified in a folder +in your user folder+. For this example, we'll call the new folder "lenschange." These might have been exported from a project or imported from a camera. I have verified this works on PEF and JPGs.
    2. Open the terminal and type the following command exactly except put your actual user folder name in place of "YourUserFolderName":
    exiftool '-Lenstype>Lens' /Users/YourUserFolderName/lenschange (hit return)
It will take exiftool a while to do this. It will open each file, move the lens model data, and write a new file, renaming the old one with _original at the end of the filename.
    3. Import the new files into Aperture wherever your want them.
You should now see the Lens model data in the "Lens Model" field for the EXIF data.
Clunky, yes; but if you really want that data visible in Aperture, this is (for now) how it has to be done.

clawhammer, OMG that is VERY strange. Given what I have read like using exiftool in terminal and sRGB vs adobe profile that this works is odd. Obviously the theory that Aperture is looking for the lens info in the wrong place is not totally true.
Here's what I did with one Pentax. pef image. In the adjustment HUD in the 'RAW Fine Tuning" brick (Aperture 2.1.2) I switched from 2.0 to 1.1 then back. For a very quick moment I saw the lens info appear in the metadata for Lens. But it went right back to blank. BTW the 1.1 image was awful (green!). So I tried the same thing with 2.0 to 1.0 and back. This time it stuck and I can see the lens info "smc PENTAX-DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED".
To me this is very weird. Obviously it is there somewhere AND accessible to Aperture but either Apple or Pentax is screwing up. Now this is only one image but now I'm thinking can I use Automator or AppleScript to run through my whole library to make the correction (man this would take a lot of time). And then how could I automate this on download.
I'd be forever grateful if either Apple corrected what now seems like a very simple problem or some script guru solved the library conversion and the download issue with a one step process. Clearly the info is still there so HEY APPLE FIX THIS!

  • Pentax Lens Correction in LR4

Is it just me or I don't have Pentax in Lens Correction tab in the Develop Module of LR4? How can I add it like it was in LR3?

I was running into the same issue with the correct lens not being shown.  I have a Nikon D7000 with a Sigma 17-50 F2.8 lens.  When I went into the Lens Corrction Panel my specific model wasn't showing up.  Normally when I import my photos I "Copy to DNG" to keep the files organized better.  So I imported a photo as a .NEF and what do you know, the lens auto detected without any issues.  From this I found a workaround so I can keep using the .DNG format and have the correct lens adjustments.
    *** Work Around ***
Import a photo as a RAW .NEF (or whatever your camera creates)
Open the "Lens Correction" in the Develop Panel and ensure the lens you use is selected
Save the settings as a "User Preset" under the Develop Panel
Open the Import Window and select "Apply During Import"
Select the "User Preset" that was created
Select "Copy to DNG" as the import type
Once the preset has been set on import it will apply the setting and then convert the file to a .DNG with the settings applied.  So at that point if you go to the Develop Panel and choose Lens Correction, the correct lens will show up in the list with it's adjustments.

  • Pentax K100D support?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get support in Aperture for the K100D's PEF file? I tried editing the Raw.plist file and renaming the Pentax-*ist DL key to Pentax-K100D, repaired permissions, and rebooted and it wont import in Aperture, iPhoto or Preview, etc.
I also tried to convert it to DNG and that didn't work either. I keep getting an Unsupported Image Format error in Aperture
    any ideas?
    Powermac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Yes, Apple's kinda slow adopting the more "exotic" brands and camera makes out there. They're focusing on the cameras that users buy most, which makes sense from their point of view. Sadly, that leaves a lot of us in the dust.
I believe that the reason for the very slow integration of new and more exotic cameras into the system is due to the very rigorous quality standards that Apple sets with Raw development.
Other Raw interpreters basically have camera specific color matrices, all other parameters for Raw development are applied regardless of camera make. With Aperture, they do a lot of camera-specific Raw development upon import - not only the colours but sharpening, black point, contrast... that needs lots of testing and balancing, and thus a lot of time.
Frankly, although I've been really sad about the lack of Pentax *ist DS support in Aperture (and that's not likely to change soon according to the above), I'm glad that they implemented such high standards for their Raw development. No one else does this, afaik, not even Adobe with Lightroom.
And as long as I can hack the Raw.plist to get my camera to be kinda supported, I'm ok with it. Their Raw developer is very, very good. I'd like to see it stay that way.
Of course, if there's any way to help to accelerate adoption of currently non-supported cameras... I'd gladly help out if I only knew how!
    Cheers,
    Karl

  • Pentax RAW Support

I thought the support list notes the RAW image file format for the Pentax K100D was supported, but when I import my images I get the "Unsupported Image Format" message. The list on Aperture's page is supposed to note cameras that are supported, with asterisked models getting "optimized support". Am I reading things wrong, or am I missing something? Only an amateur, but dealing with RAW files thru all the crazy workarounds is already old, and I haven't owned the camera for 1 month! Thoughts?

Based on my experience with newer Canon products still not being supported by Aperture I would suggest you find another way to manage your RAW files. It could be a very long time before Apple decides to support your camera.
Here's a freeware program that does a better job supporting new cameras than Apple -
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/imaging_3d/rawphotoprocessor.html
You may want to try this out and see if it support Pentax.

  • Pentax lens profiles missing in lightroom 5

They are in Photoshop but not Lightroom. How do I get/activate them?
    Thanks,
    Cameron

I’m seeing the same number of Pentax profiles in LR 5.7 as I do in ACR 8.7.       Without knowing what camera you’re trying to find profiles for it’s hard to guess what might be wrong, other than you need to be viewing a raw file not a JPG.

  • Pentax K3 jpeg unknown lens

In addition to there being no Apple support yet for RAW files from the Pentax K3, there is even a problem with jpeg. With all lenses, Aperture reports "Unkown Lens" in the EXIF for jpeg files. Pentax Digital Camera Utility 5 reports the correct lens. Has anybody else seen this?

I'd send feedback to Apple with the exact name of your camera model and the specifics of the lens. The exif tags for some lenses are ambigious, but Pentax software will naturally assume that you are using a Pentax lens with your Pentax camera.
The feedback (use this form Apple - Aperture - Feedback) has reportedly worked in previous cases, and the developer team has fixed the lens problem, see for example this post by Libertin:
