LR - CS3 Integration

Sometimes, I go back and forth b/w the two. There are certain features that are good/easy with LR while a few can only be done in PS.
The problem i have is with the export/edit in PS options:
1. Using the Edit Original makes no sense - i get no benefit from any LR changes.
2. Using the "Edit with LR changes" - option gets rid of all my layers - which is somewhat akin to "destructive" editing.
3. Edit Copy - which is what i use sometimes, and end up with too many copies of the image in LR - if i have to go back and forth.
Is there a solution to this?

My method (Windows XP), because I like to open a raw file as a smart object
in PS: from LR write out xmp data, show in explorer, from explorer double
click file which opens ACR and then from there open as a smart object in PS.
Save file in PS, import back into LR as a new file. From then on you can
open the PS file directly from LR.
Would be really nice to have this workflow present as an option directly
from LR....such as "Edit in PS as smart object with LR adjustments"....

  • Content for CS3 integration

    Hello,
    Can anyone point me to a place to find the most up-to-date
    content for CS3-Flex3 integration? I found bits and pieces here and
    there, but most of the information was based on the previously
    released integration kit.
    Thanks,

    Hi George,
    You can find the updated Flex Component Kit in your flex
    builder installation directory. The path is:

  • Adobe AIR and Photoshop CS3 Integration

    Hello,
    We have been using Extendscript for scripting to control
    Photoshop CS3 for calling actions and manipulating images. However,
    we would like to build an Adobe AIR application to take the place
    of Extendscript. Is this possible? Is it possible to control

    Any suggestions or links to any documenation around this

  • LR3 and CS3 integration...

    Hi All,
    You know, if i make a big edit in LR and then go to edit in CS3 i don't have any problems.
    However, i have been sharpening and applying noise reduction today and when i then export the work out of LR the changes are not there. I am using the 'edit with Lr adjustments' and whatever but as soon as i look at the same image in CS3 the changes do not appear to be there. In fact they definitely aren't. If i flick back to LR the image is adjusted...Weird.
    Any Helpers out there ?!?
    Been at it all day and am convinced these changes are not carrying  through to Cs3. Is there another way of getting the image exported perhaps...i just need to get it into a file so i can use it 'at will' without having it 'locked' in LR.
    Cheers,
    Simon

    If you set up CS3 as an external editor then LR will convert your file to TIFF before editing and you should see your changes, but then you will also have and additional file to deal with.

  • Using 1.5 with Dreamweaver CS3

    Hello,
    What are the pros and cons of replacing Spry 1.4, bundled
    with DW CS3, with the 1.5 prerelease?
    In our company, we've never used Spry before but plan to do
    that with a new project we're working on. Is it better to use (and
    learn) v1.5 instead the spry code that comes with DW?
    Any side effects on Dreamweaver functionality?
    Regards

    Hello sakisp,
    The Pros are:
    - lots of bugs were fixed
    - lots of new features added (Data + Widgets + Effects)
    - code improved for performance
    - we did some structural changes and deprecated some of the
    API, however we remained DW compatible. If you start using Spry 1.5
    you won't have to migrate any of your page to the new version.
    - improved the samples, documentation and demos.
    The Cons are:
    - the upgrade procedure may generate some problems and we
    don't have an automate way to make this update:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=602&threadid=1269066&fo rumid=72
    - none of the new features in Spry 1.5 have a DW CS3
    integration so you'll have to code some of the things by hand.
    We worked as hard as possible and the Spry 1.5 is fully
    compatible with the Dreamweaver Spry version. This was one of our
    goals for this release to make sure the thinks will still work
    after the release.
    Basically I consider the upgrade a good thing, specially if
    you start now from scratch with the Spry. Just make sure you read
    carefully the previous post with the upgrade procedure in DW.

  • Import Premiere CS3 Project into AE

    New to the Mac CS3 universe. Imported a Premiere CS3 project into AE.
    Brought it in and AE made a comp from the sequence and sources from all
    the media. Thought everything was fine till I scrubbed the timeline and
    discovered that the Title items I had placed on my Premiere timeline
    appeared to be just alpha channels. The text had not come along with the
    footage.
    Did I miss a step in Premiere? Used to AE and Vegas on my old Winbox, so
    this CS3 integration is a nice change, but occasionally get trip ups
    such as this on the learning curve.
    Mac Pro Quad
    CS3 Creative Suite

    Ok thanks, that helps me quite a bit. The footage is all numbered sequentially so Im not mixing it up (9x1 hour blocks), but the framerates could be causing the problem. If the imported footage is HD 1440x1080 @ 25fps in Premiere, I have created a new project also set at HDV1080i 25 (50i) and imported the timeline. I then save this and import to AE, but am still getting the same problem. I know that Ive done the process backwards (premiere then AE), but out of curiosity, can you yourself get premiere transitions to work in AE? Cause I might ask adobe for new install discs if you can.
    Cheers

  • LR2.0 Crashes frequently

    I consider myself a major user and supporter of Adobe products. I have always been very happy with their performance.
    I have been using LR1.4 for over a year. As a commercial photographer, hardly a week passes without my editing in excess of 300-500 RAW files. LR1.4 was extremely stable, a little slow, but it NEVER CRASHED.
    I was delighted with the beta of 2.0 to see some of the enhancements you proposed and was very much looking forward to the full release. The beta worked well and never gave a hint of instability. When version 2.0 was released, I plonked down my $100 for the upgrade without hesitation.
    LR2.0 is terrible, prematurely released, and is wasting a lot of my time.
    Frankly I expected more from a company with Adobe's reputation and capabilities.
    Apart from the issues of CS3 integration (which I understand you are fixing), the interface in general is slow and very buggy. This morning, in a three hour editing session, the system froze requiring a closure and reopening of the program FIVE TIMES in 3 hours. This is unacceptable. It never happened with 1.4 - I cannot accept that it has anything to do with my system, unless you have significantly changed the requirements. A release of this magnitude should be able to be seemlessly upgraded to replace a tried and true earlier version.
    The freezing occured each time when in the Develop Module, when I tried to move the vertical slider on the extreme right of the screen up or down.
    PLEASE FIX THIS PROGRAM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that we can enjoy its multiplicity of features and benefits and get on with running our own businesses as we were....
    Thank you, in frustration and disappointment,
    Andrew

    As the OP, otherwise known as Andrew, let me attempt to clear the air a little - at risk of course of adding to the white noise.
    A forum is a place where participants should feel free to express their opinions, lavish praise and criticism, and, if so desired, seek help from other individuals who have similar experiences or spercific expertise that can assist with a solution.
    Last week, my frustration reached such fever pitch that I needed a place to express an opinion directly to Adobe. If you read what has now euphamistically become known as the "OP's rant," you will in fact notice two things: (i) I provided praise where praise is due - LR is a superb program, one that I have relied on and enjoyed extensively since it's original release. I noted that I was pleased with the enhancements offered in the beta (which incidentally worked flawlessly for me); (ii) I expressed my frustration both with the software and its failings in version 2.0, and admonished Adobe for releasing a version that had so many issues, and plead with them to fix it. After all, if the beta worked flawlessly, why not the full release?
    In my original post, if you care to reread it, I did not specifically ask someone to troubleshoot my system - since I was sufficiently frustrated that at that specific moment I did not want to troubleshoot nor did I expect it to be fixed right then. Furthermore, my experience of the prior days (including a cursory review of numerous other postings) suggested (perhaps erroneously) that the solution might be with the release and not with my system that heretofore had worked flawlessly.
    What I did not expect, was to be harangued and criticised by a forum participant who saw it better (and perhaps easier) to attack me, than to accept that there are problems and that customers are frustrated.
    In fact my specific solution ultimately came from two Adobe engineers who took the time to suggest some possibilities beyond simply "trashing the preferences" - something I had already done several times. I will, however, say for the record, that while the last two sessions worked without incident, my confidence is presently low, and I hesitate each time before switching to the Develop module in fear that the system will freeze (I'll get over this!!).
    If Adobe does not hear and feel our pain, their commitment to releasing an improved version in a timely manner may be lessened. Having said that, I beleieve that Adobe takes this all very seriously and is working around the clock to maintain their reputation and restore public confidence [they demonstrated this when the released and earlier update and had to withdraw it immediately when it was found to be error prone].
    I like this product, I like Adobe, and I have a high regard for all of the engineers that support it. I do not, however, respond well to attacks from another customer who believes he has all the answers and further believes that he can attack others that may not share his experience or competence. This is bullying, and it has no place in a professional discourse among like professionals who are trying to grow their business, expand their knowledge and explore new tools.
    Clearly the point is well taken that if you need help with a problem, it makes sense to share some basics about the problem. That can and should be communicated to forum participants in a polite and constructive way. Most on this forum who provide such help, especially the Adobe employees understand this, and I thank them for their dedication in keeping us all moving forward.
    Thank you for letting me post this "rant" - as I am sure it will become called such.
    Now back to the struggle! ;-)

  • Video thumnail over motion background

    Hello adobe users.
    I am having some difficulty in learning to create a video thumbnail that is not an actual "button".
    I have edited a preview loop, and wish to display it on one of my sub-menu's. My goal is to have a video preview pane that does not act like an actual button, meaning the video play within the thumbnail only. I do not wish for this button object to actually link to another sub-menu or full screen video.
    my O'reilly Encore DVD book mentions this is possible but doesn't explain how it is done specifically.
    Seems to me that encore could be improved with a simple option to deactivate the link property, while the video properties still remain on the object
    Can anyone help me out please?
    best regards,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,Bill & John
    Scott has raised this issue again
    why can we not disable the button from navigation but retain its features its a great idea.
    Scott we offered a good solution for this derived from a previous thread and ideas from the above minds
    without using other softwares.
    have a read here
    http://www.digitalvideoteam.co.uk/newsletter.htm#tips
    the article links back to the original forum discussion
    video editor is a good alternative
    i personally put the boat out for after effects integration as it overcomes many restrictions and allows for proper project recreation.
    Herein lies a problem, i remember many years ago i used after effects for the first time, gee was i dissappointed, not that software was in anyway bad it just did not easily reveal its capabilities.
    by including media project builders by example and conveying the relevant software capability simultaneously permitting access and use of the concept makes the learning process much more enjoyable
    http://www.hd720.co.uk
    After effects needs to shipped with more of this
    with cs3 integration this type of consructor can easily be included into encore and it would be nice to see some dynamic link project inclusions

  • Mx.flash.ContainerMovieClip

    Flex 3 (Moxie) / Flash CS3 Integration Kit
    Is it possible to create Flex containers in Flash CS3 (as
    presented in
    video.onflex.org)
    using the Integration Kit (
    Make Flex Container command) provided with the current Flex
    3 public prerelease?
    a.

    Glenn - thanks a lot.
    Did as you said, and got expected result as far as
    MXML is concerned.
    For a Flash CS3 generated container component
    DevelopmentUIElement:
    <local:DevelopmentUIElement>
    <mx:VBox width="100%">
    <mx:Button width="100%" label="B1"/>
    <mx:Button width="100%" label="B2"/>
    <mx:Button width="100%" label="B3"/>
    <mx:Button width="100%" label="B4"/>
    </mx:VBox>
    </local:DevelopmentUIElement>
    Just wonderful, considering VBox and it's contents are also
    masked ( ! ).
    Now... for
    ActionScript (which I mostly use...), some issues arise:
    For a Flash CS3 generated container component
    DevelopmentUIElement:
    public class UIContainer extends Canvas {
    public final function UIContainer ():void {
    trace("UIContainer ");
    Application.application.addEventListener("applicationComplete",extend);
    protected final function extend (event:Event):void {
    trace("UIContainer: extend()");
    var container1:DevelopmentUIElement=new
    DevelopmentUIElement();
    addChild(container1);
    var button1:Button=new Button();
    button1.percentWidth=100;
    button1.height=30;
    button1.label="B 1.1";
    container1.addChild(button1);
    var button2:Button=new Button();
    button2.percentWidth=100;
    button2.height=30;
    button2.label="B 1.2";
    container1.addChild(button2);
    The first problem is the need to wait for the application to
    dispatch a
    creationComplete or
    applicationComplete Event. It was the same case with the
    previous version of the Flash CS3 Integration. Unlike Flex native
    components, adding Flash CS3 generated components in the
    constructor method of a Flex ActionScript component lately added
    directly to the
    <mx:Application> via MXML - throws
    #1009 Error. LayoutManager issue.
    The second problem is that components (
    Button) added to the container (
    DevelopmentUIElement)...
    are not visible. In my example, I can see
    DevelopmentUIElement instance correctly, but not a thing of
    what I add to it.
    Yesterday, trying to find a workaround, I managed to add
    & see a Flash CS3 generated component/container to another
    Flash CS3 generated component/container through ActionScript in
    Flex, but that's all...
    Anyway - thanks for all the
    amazing job you people are doing : ))

    Hello, I done a tutorial from learnflash.com on Integrating

    Yep, big difference. Flash CS3 is the earlier version of

    confusing CS3 with AS3, which is supported by both versions of
    Flash CS#.

    Photoshop CS3. If so please let me know the pro's and con's of
    doing this.
    Thank You, Jacob

    No, PSE 3 and PS CS3 are totally different programs. Elements is a reduced version of photoshop for consumer use, with many of the pro features from photoshop simplified or left out.
    PSE 3 is quite an old version (it's up to PSE 8 now). You might want to check your local library for books on it. It's highly unlikely that you would find books on PSE 3 in stock in any bookstore, even in a large city, since it's five years old. You can still get a few books from amazon, I think.

  • Flash CS3/ Dreamweaver 8 integration

    I bought CS2 right before it was packaged with Dreamweaver.
    So I bought Dreamweaver 8 right before CS3 was announced. (yes,
    there's a pattern here, I bought a new computer as a student right
    before USB was announced, and a new Mac soon before the Intel chip
    model was announced- I just don't have time to research!) I am
    being laid off in September, but just picked up a one-class
    teaching job at a community college, and they just installed CS3 in
    the labs yesterday. My question is- if I buy Flash CS3 for my home
    computer, will it work as seamlessly with Dreamweaver 8 as it would
    with Dreamweaver CS3? TIA

    geekchick1,
    > My question is- if I buy Flash CS3 for my home

    You'll be fine. :) The only time the two applications ever
    meet is
    when you embed a SWF into an HTML page. That one pinpoint
    hasn't especially
    changed, so far as I can see -- though of course each
    application on its own
    has gained all sorts of new functionality.

    Thanx a bunch, Jao...
    OK, I'm trying out updating to 10.0.1. But get this when I run the 10.0.1 Updater:
    "An error occured during installation. The Updater is unable to locate the product to be updated."
    It's in the right folder, so there's some other problem apparently.
    So reading a bit on the Adobe site, it says I may have to re-install CS3 if the updater won't work. I deauthorize my copy of CS3, and try and use the Uninstaller program. It complains as well.
    So, I put my original CS3 disk in and the Setup program complains:
    Adobe Photoshop CS3 cannot be installed because it conflicts with: Adobe Photoshop CS3
    I move it to the old one to the trash anyway, knowing that's not the right thing to do.
    Try my CS3 disk again, still complains.
    So... Something seems really hosed here. I can't get rid of my old copy of CS3, in order to resinstall a fesh version...
    Not a great day here!!!

  • [CS3 Win] Web Service Integration

    Does anyone know if it is possible to call a web service from an Indesign plugin? And if so where can I find an example of this?

    Thanks for the reply Andreas, I was aleady trying gSOAP out. I Have generated .h and .cpp files from a wsdl but cant get them to compile with my plugin. Its a slow process for me doing C++ when I'm used to C#.
    I'm really interested in finding a simple "hello world" like plugin that fetches data from a web service, just so I can see how it can be done.

  • Integrating Lightroom Flash Gallery with Dreamweaver CS3

    I have been unsuccessfully attempting to edit the gallery files created by Lightroom from within Dreamweaver. The index.html file comes up with this message when opened:
    Sorry, this photo gallery requires that scripting be enabled on your web browser and that the Macromedia Flash Player be installed. Download the Macromedia Flash Player
    However, I have the player installed...
    I have tried uploading the files directly to my server from Lightroom but they do not display. The loading icon whirls endlessly and never resolves.
    Does anyone have any advice.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can't edit a flash gallery with Dreamweaver.
    To make changes to the LR flash gallery you would require a copy of the original fla file and a copy of Flash to edit it.
    The index file you see is the one that loads the flash player to play your gallery. The message is what is seen in a browser that doesn't have flash player installed.
    You can make amendments to the gallery itself by changing the xml files, although the changes you can make here can also be made in LR itself so why bother?
    You can embed the gallery itself in your own html page. Using insert, media and then finding the gallery.swf file. As long as you then upload everything in the correct locations (including the scrippt files abd the new html file in the same folder structure it will work.
    There are other flash galleries that are far easier to  embed available. However in order to make serious changes to flash galleries of any type you will require the original fla file and most designers are not going to give you that! Adobe does give away the fla's for the galleries that ship with PS.
