LR disapear from desktop and startmenu

I have Lightroom 3.6 and the operating system is Windows 7 Home. My problem is that LR disappear from desktop and startmenu after a couple of weeks. I need to repare the installation again.

This is not Lr's doing but something Windows does.
First of all, when the icon disappears from your desktop you don't have to repair the installation. The icon on the desktop is only a shortcut and its disappearance does not mean that the corresponding program needs to be re-installed.
When an icon for a program, in this example for Lr disappears from your desktop simply go to >Start >All Programs and find Lr in the list and double-click it. Lr will then start.
If you right-click the program on the list, a fly-out menu will appear; hover over <Send to> and there will appear several options, one of them is "Desktop (create shortcut)". Select this and you will re-create the icon on the desktop.
The reason why your icon disappears is probably due to a feature in Windows: Have you noticed on your desktop a message appearing that says "There are unused icons on your desktop ...?" When this message appears click <Cancel> because if you don't, icons will disappear. In fact the message will appear twice, and you have to click on <Cancel> each time. It's a stupid feature of Windows.

We have experienced this also with 7.20 PL7 but I think it was just the Bex 3.x shortcuts that were missing from the Start Menu. I can check if you like?
We are going to package our apps and will probably change the location of the shortcuts anyway so were just going to create the shortcuts and menu structure as part of the apps packaging.
Maybe a bug with SAPGUI 7.20 install though!

This happened to me a few weeks back. I plugged in my phone to transfer some photos, and like yours, it just switched off at 100% on charge. I didn't particularly know what to do with it at the time, as I was going away 2 days later & the apple tech guy wasn't in my local PC World at the time. I just left it switched off and unplugged from the charger. I came back 4 days later, went to switch it on and it worked. I think it had something to do with the charger. I used to leave it in the plug socket switched on when I wasn't charging my MacBook, so I've stopped doing this now.
Obviously I know its irritating, and you might not want to just leave it for a few days, but I was recommended to do this by a few of my friends that it has happened to in the past, and it worked.
If you can take it to a store near by, then maybe do so!

Hi, I try to load a photo from desktop and Elements 12 opens up but the photo doesn't appear in the screen. I used to get it but lately they don't appear.

How are you trying to open the photos?
- from windows explorer? - double licking or right clicking and selecting Open with?
- by loading the editor and go to File -> Open?
Looking back at your other threads you seem to have had this problem before - what keeps changing?

Merging contacts from desktop and iPhone

OK... here goes....
For the last 10 years my wife and I have shared one user account on our desktop computer, a G5 tower.
We have been able to successfully keep our 'digital lives' separate because I used Apple Mail and Address Book with my iPhone, syncing with mobile me. She used Microsoft Entourage and a flip phone.
She has just gotten an iPhone 4S and I want her to be able to sync contacts with Address Book. So... I am FINALLY setting her up with her own user account and getting her to use Apple Mail and Address Book. We do NOT want my Address Book to sync with her new iPhone.
I think I can import her messages and mailboxes into Mail in the new user account easy enough. And I am pretty sure I can get her Entourage email addresses into Address Book also. I have seen some articles online and I think I got it straight.
Here is the part I am not sure about. When she got her iPhone last week the Verizon store transfered her PHONE NUMBERS into the iPhone form her old flip phone. How do we merge the email addresses (from Entourage) and phone numbers (currently on the new iPhone) into Address Book?
I am asuming there are gong to be many double entries and such as the names will not match.... but i do not want to overwrite anything and lose data. Will we just have to suck it up and manually merge the data?
We can not use iCloud yet, as the machine is not Intel and is only running Leopard. There is a new Mac Mini in our near future and I will get the iCloud running for her soon enough. And I anticipate no issues moving over her new user account, from the G5 over to the new Mini.
I ONLY use my white Intel MacBook running Lion and the iCloud to keep MY life in sync these days and doubt I will put my MacBook user account on the new desktop... but I might at some point.

Possible to combine purchased book files from desktop and laptop?

When my original Win 7 computer started having problems, I consolidated all the iTunes files (music, books, video) on that computer and stored the backup on a thumb drive per instructions on the Apple support site, with the idea of putting them on a new Win 7 computer at some point. But for right now, I'd like to consolidate the files from the old Win 7 to my laptop, as that will be my main repository of iTunes files -- books, music and video -- until I get a new Win 7 computer set up. However, I had also purchased some other books which were saved on my laptop; thus I'd like to combine the files. Before combining, I'd like to be able to transfer the new books from the laptop to my iPad (which was paired with the old Win7, which has now been deactivated). I'd like to do this without losing any of the 200+ books already on the iPad, Of course, at some point, I'd like to sync the music that was saved on the Win 7 computer to the iPad, which thus far has been used primarily for reading and playing games. This will be done once the files are safely ensconced on my laptop. Above all, I don't want to lose anything from the old desktop, from iTunes on the laptop, or from the iPad in this process. Can anyone explain to me how I might accomplish this? This process is so foreign to those of us who are well and truly accustomed to transferring and merging files in Windows and I am quite paranoid about losing any data. Thank you for any and all guidance you can offer!

Basically you can go either way. I would do the upgrade of the catalog on the iMac, so there will be no need to install LR1 on the laptop. You'd still need to enter the LR1 serial no. (besides the LR3 serial no.) on the laptop after installation of LR3.4 though.
Also, what's the best way to move everything to the laptop? I have an external drive that is probably big enough for all the files.
You might want to have a look at Victoria Bamptons Blog Post about the subject. Don't forget to also copy presets, plugins and possible ACR defaults to the new computer.

Starting Photoshop 2014 CC from Desktop and start menu states ExtendScript.dll error

I purchased Adobe CC for Student this morning and when I go to launch Photoshop 2014 CC from start menu/desktop it states:
"This Program can't start because ExtendScript.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"
If however I try to launch from the directory of the installation or the task bar it launches with non of the errors stated above I will also state that
when I go to search the directory for the .dll file its there, is there a fix for this or will I have to install this completely.

Did you run the 15.1 update from Help > updates or from the CC Desktop Application?
Try installing that, if still fails, might need to uninstall, and reinstall.

Mail disapears from ipad and not pc

I have three email accounts, one gmail, two comcast. I tried to configure older pc to use IMAP in email and would not configure. I deleated each account and reinstalled. If I send an email to comcast account the email disapears. If I send and email to gmail account it stays. Just received an email from apple support community and it disapeared. Not sure what is happening.

Check that the missing mail isn't in the spam folder or that you haven't accidentally blocked the sender of the email.

Firefox will only open once from desktop and won't open new tabs or windows

When I clicked on Firefox's desktop icon this morning it took a solid 5 minutes for the browser window to open, and at that time I just chalked it up to my computer being slow.
Once it did open I soon encountered the first problem: when I clicked on "Open Link in New Window" or "Open Link in New Tab" nothing happened. Subsequently, when I did navigate to a website I was unable to click on any links whatsoever. I closed the window and tried to restart Firefox which is when I ran into the second problem: it wouldn't open. I opened the Task Manager and terminated firefox.exe, attempted to open via both the desktop icon and program folder but had no luck. If I restart my computer I'm able to open just the one browser window but with the same results of the first issue I mentioned.
I've tried all of Mozilla's troubleshooting tips in the "Firefox will not start" section with no luck. I've also uninstalled then reinstalled with no luck.

Doing what nbar says is dangerous, so I recommend you to try other steps before.
First, press Alt, Command and Esc keys, so the Force Quit window will show up. Choose Finder and relaunch it, so the copy process will stop. Then, you will be able to turn off the Mac.
If it doesn't work, press Control, Command and Eject keys to restart. If nothing works, do what nbar says

Internal RAID Drives Disappeared from Desktop & Finder

A few days ago, one of my two internal mirrored RAID sets no longer showed on the desktop or in the Finder Sidebar. A day later, the other internal RAID set disappeared from desktop and sidebar. The two remaining internal non-RAID drives show up as do two external drives. All internal and external hard drives still show under Disk Utility and Photoshop Bridge CS3.
I checked Finder Preferences and boxes are checked to show internal and external drives on the desktop and sidebar. I looked at the drive detail under Disk Utility and nothing looks wrong with the two RAID sets ON-LINE. I unmounted one RAID set and re-mounted without any change. I tried unchecking the two preference boxes to not show the drives and rebooted, rechecking the boxes and rebooting and nothing changed on the desktop or sidebar.
Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve this?

Well our invisible drives problem is resolved but it's not the solution that I'd hoped for.
We visited the Genius Bar at a local Apple store and they denied any knowledge of problems with invisible drives in Macs and discounted my reports from Mac forums.
I went home and ordered a new 1tb Seagate drive. When it arrived, I installed it in bay 2, copied each invisible drive to the new drive one-at-a-time, broke my two sets of internal mirrored drives, erased all the affected drives and reloaded them. Now all drives are visible on the Desktop and Finder again.
I'm hoping that the disappearing drive problem doesn't surface again but view this as an unresolved Apple issue. Now I can look at other mass storage options for future growth.

How to get information from desktops into SQL?

Powershell is the tool for you. If you could please move this post to powershell; you should get better response. I almost certain that there are already some powershell scripts that does this, or at least will give you a report or a excel\csv file
with this information.
once you have that info you import that data into sql and sql server agent jobs you can automate.
