I have Lightroom 4 and a new 70D camera and when I try to important my photos Lightroom says it doesn't recognize my CR2 files.  Can someone help?  I have downloaded 8.3 from Adobe, but still doesn't work?

Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. All of the Camera Raw technology is part of the Lightroom program. You will either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or use the DNG converter to create digital negative copies that can be used with Lightroom 4.

  • Help! Bridge CS4 doesn't recognize 7D RAW files!

I just got a new computer, it has Vista on it. I installed my Adobe Photoshop and Bridge (CS4) on the desktop, and it won't read the images from my 7D. I downloaded the ACR and DNG converter 5.6, installed it, restarted my computer, and Bridge still doesn't recognize the RAW files. What else can I do? I need to access them ASAP! Thanks

Look for and download the Adobe DNG Converter version 8.6.  No need to be running such an old obsolete version as you reference.
The Adobe DNG Converter is a stand-alone application that is in no way tied to your version of Photoshop.  You not only download it and install it, but you also have to launch it separately and run it on each folder containing raw files from your Canon camera.  Note that it will not recognize individual files, only the folder that contains them.
However, you shouldn't need the DNG Converter it if you update your ACR Plug-in to the latest version, ACR 5.7.
The Adobe auto updater was and remains utterly unreliable—I'd even say useless—in CS4.  You must locate the ACR update at the Adobe site yourself and apply it manually.
This is the URL for the Mac update, I don't do windows, so you'll have to search for the Win version yourself:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 5.7 update

I don't know who you talked to, but some of the support techs tend to look at CS5 as "no longer sold or supported" and usually don't want to mess with it.
We are mostly user-volunteers and have time to help you out. Some of us get perks from Adobe, but we are not employees.
I actually gave you the links to the two very important CS5 updates, but you want to peruse this general list Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows

  • Blackberry Desktop Software doesn't recognize my .rem files on my SD media card. Cannot sync them to my Mac.

    Hi,
I'm experiencing this problem where Blackberry Desktop Software for Mac 2.3.0 (build 12)  doesn't recognize my .rem files (video and photo) on my SD media card (the Desktop Software app does show that file space on the media card is being used). Therefore, these files cannot be synced, decrypted, and viewed on my computer. I can see them on phone. I do have mass storage mode turned on and I can see the .rem files in the video and photo folders when my phone is connected to my computer. I can copy them to my Mac but since they aren't decrypted, I cannot view them.
I'm going to buy a new phone and I need to get these files off my current phone.  I have a Tour 9630 with BB  OS 5.0 bundle 1600.
I've tried backing up, reformatting the media card, wiping, and restoring but nothing has worked.
Is there any kind of utility that will let me decrypt the files on my computer? Should I try Blackberry Desktop Software for Windows?
I'm hoping someone can provide some suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Hey jack_clarke,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Make sure mass storage mode is enabled on the BlackBerry: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB13564
If this is disabled you won't be able to access your media card from the computer.

  • Elements 9 Organizer - doesn't recognize .mrw format files

Using Elements 9 Organizer - it doesn't recognize .mrw file formats when imported to organizer, yet the documentation seems to clearly indicate that it should.  Is there some sort of setting that is preventing it from doing what it professes to do?

When trying to import the contents of the folder, it does nothing and tell you that the folder didn't contain any recognized file types OR the files were already imported.  Okay, so searching around I found it was the latter and not the former.  (it seems the app could tell you).  BUT, it doesn't tell you where those files are.  Very funny - but not.

  • CS3 doesn't recognize Nikon Raw files in Yosemite

Since updating to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro, CS3 no longer works properly.
Instead of thumbnails, Bridge displays icons for Nikon NEF images. When I click on the icon, I’m told “Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file.”
When I attempt to open the image directly through Photoshop, I’m presented with a Photoshop Raw Options window asking me to describe the dimensions of the image. (I don’t know how to do anything other than guess at the size, and when the image opens, it looks like grey noise on an old TV screen.)
I’ve reinstalled CS3 but the problems remain.

    That did the trick.
I followed the instructions for manually installing the Camera Raw 4.6 plug-in
Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 4.6 update
I had to purge the cache in Bridge, and once I did, the generic thumbnails became proper images.
Thanks again for your help. I'll think twice next time before updating my operating system.

  • Photoshop Elements 6.0 Camera Raw doesn't recognize my .RW2 files.

I downloaded the CameraRaw.8bi file, version 5.4.0.57 and copied it into: Program Files\Common Files\\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS2\File Formats after copying the old version to a safe place. I executed the CameraProfiles.exe program that was included in the ZIP file I downloaded. Elements 6 does not recognize my file format. I have a Panasonic LUMIX FZ28 that uses the .RW2 raw file format. The LUMIX FZ28 is included as a camera that this Raw Converter handles. The Read Me instructions for the install has the path as: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS3\File Formats, so I renamed my CS2 folder to CS3 and tried that, NO GO, still won't recognize  the RW2 format, then I renamed the folder back to CS2. I don't know what else to do!! Can someone please help me? Thanks, Smokey Joe.

Camera RAW goes another place for Elements, not in the Photoshop Creative Suite subfolders.  Scroll down further until you see a section specific to PSE 6 on Windows, or there are instructions on this page about 2/3 of the way down:

  • Bridge in CS4 doesn't recognize my RAW files . . .

I just got a Canon 5DMKII. When I download the RAW files into Bridge CS4, it does not recognize the file. I get the message, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize the type of file".
I had no problem with my Canon 5D, it displayed the RAW files perfectely.
    Any suggestions?

No I haven't. How do I do that?
I'm downloading some updates from the Adobe Updater, one of them was Camera RAW, so maybe that's it.

  • Doesn't recognize SD card files

I've been using my 32GB Sandisk Class 10 SD card just for pictures and video. Today it randomly said SD card removed even though it was still in the phone. I had to eject it and put it back in a few times before it would recognize it and then all my pictures and video were gone from the gallery. I can still see the files in the file viewer and when I put it in my computer so they are there but they have no file association.
This is the second time I've had this issue, was using a SanDisk class 4 32gb card for a few months and it just completely stopped recognizing the card. It works fine in my old HTC Droid incredible but the S3 can't seem to figure it out. Not sure if I got a faulty SD card reader or what. Anybody else had SD card issues? I formatted both cards with the S3 when I first started using them.

    Hi there Gs3elite!
Having the latest and greatest removable memory is absolutely important! I'm so glad that your photos and videos are still safe and sound. Phew!
I did a lot of research and I found that most mobile devices support Class 4, but not all support Class 10. I went here: http://pct1.sandisk.com/ProductList.aspx?DeviceID=18149 for some suggestions and I did actually see a Class 10 SD Card suggested!
You also mentioned that your Class 4 also had issues. Thank you so much for formatting both of them. That's an extremely important step!
Have you tried putting your phone in safe mode or master resetting it yet? Just in case it's a glitch!

  • Following the help instructions I manually copied my bookmarks but windows 7 on my new computer doesn't recognize the .json file created, both computers have the latest version of Firefox.

    windows 7, latest firefox browser

Windows doesn't have any program association for .json files, but Firefox still should be able to import them.
    Try:
    orange Firefox button > Bookmarks<br>
    ''or''<br>
Bookmarks menu > Show All Bookmarks
On the top bar, there should be three menus, Organize, Views, and Import and Backup. The third one is the one you want.
Import and Backup > Restore > Choose file
    Does that work?

  • Music library doesn't recognize all mp3 files

I have a nokia n97 with firmware 20. I have transferred an album of 66 mp3 songs to my mobile via mass storage, but only 58 songs show up in the music player library.
I can see the songs by using file manager; I can even play them from the file manager. I also tried and re-tried refreshing the library, in vain.
    Any idea anyone?

I managed to work around the problem. Moved all the missing songs to a new folder. Change the Album name for these files. Refresh library. And it's working nw.
I still dunno wat's the problem though :-/, just a work around solution.
After that I figured out that out of the 4000 mp3 songs I transferred from my laptop, about 25 were missing from the library. All of them were detected after moving them to a new folder and modifying the ID3 tag.

  • ITunes doesn't recognize valid library files

iTunes library on external NAS hard drive. I can "add to library" individual songs from this external hard drive, however any attempts to select valid iTunes library results in message "An iTunes library file could not be found in the folder "iTunes". Please choose a different folder."
This iTunes library is valid as several Windows XP machines can use it OK.
Upon startup the external hard drive is connected automatically as share, and logged in as user, not guest.

Try the instructions in this article.

  • FCP doesn't recognize Motion project file

I've almost completed the lessons in the Apple Pro Training Series "Motion".
When I get to the last lesson and try to import my motion file into Final Cut HD - all motion files are greyed out and not available for import.
What do I need to do to be able to import Motion files into FCP?
Dual 2 GHz Power PC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   512 MB DDR SDRAM

If you only have the trial version of Motion, it does
    not support integration.
Do you have the full version?
I am having the same problem with a registered FCP Studio suite. Greyed out .motn files on the import requester.
When I change the "Import File" requester selection to All Files and select a .motn file, I get the error message "File Error: 1 files(s) not recognized, assess denied, 1 unknown."
I have tried re-registering, deleting FCP prefs, repairing permissions, running cron scripts, re-booting.
    No good so far.
This is on a two day old, format and complete fresh install partition.

  • Log & Transfer doesn't recognize my AVCHD files

It has converted them before, but now prompts that they are "unsupported media or invalid directory structure". I can convert them with Voltaic, but it takes forever. Are they somehow corrupted for FCP? Is there some intermediate step that might make them acceptable?

As Nick suggested, it is likely that some files required by Log and Transfer are missing from the original folder.
This would happen, for instance, if you have previously used your computer to delete files from the camera's hard drive. This can mess up the directory structure needed by L&T. You should only delete files on the camera using the camera's own trash utility.
If this is what has happened, Nick may be able to advise you how to reconstruct the directory structure.
