LR Leopard import freeze up

Just tried to import images from a CF card. LR just freezes up every time. Anyone else experience this? Any way to work around this? If not hope this is fixed fast.
Thanks for any help.

  • Leopard completely freezes - is this a known bug?

    Greetings,
since I've installed Leopard 10.5.4 on my MacBook Pro the day it came out, I have this weird behavior that sometimes Leopard completely freezes on me, i.e. doesn't accept mouse or keyboard input, nor does any application respond, no crashing or warning prompts.
This happens while I am either doing regular routines or on the Internet and my only chance was to hit the power button. In total 3 times over the past weeks. I can't say which application or setting might cause this. For example it happened when I switched from VMWare to Entourage. Another time after closing XCode or by working in MS Office for Mac.
I know that this decription isn't very specific, but I was wondering if that's a known bug and if anyone else experienced this?
Should I run any system tool after this type of reboot which I believe is everything but best practice?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Is the cache cleaning for you s standard practice after each OS X update? If not i recommend it. Try with Leopard Cache Cleaner or Onyx.

  • My iMac 10.6.8 w/ snow leopard keeps FREEZING/CRASHING??

ok lets see if i can type this without my computer freezing.
SO. to begin, i have a iMac 10.6.8 which also has snow leopard. I have recently downloaded many things, that ended up not working so i deleted them. I dont know if thats whats been slowing it down (the downloads still being installed but deleted from trash?) but lately my computer has been very glitchy. I dont have apple care or whatever, so i cant call.
This morning there was a "software update" so i decided, whatever, i'll do it. When i did, i rebooted and now my computer is freezing like a mother.
It is VERY ANNOYING and i dont know how to fix it. It just freezes randomly to. I go on safari for a minute, freeze, then hold power button to reboot.
or i click on another thing, freeze, hold power to reboot.
pretty much everything sets it off. I need to know WHY!? i have had it for a long time and its never been this bad. Another thing that sets it off is runescape. i play it from time to time when im bored, and now it freezes every time. but runescape isnt the only thing that freezes it, it freezes on everything else to. its so frustrating!!!!!!!!
i dont know what to do!?
    i have tried these:
    -online downloads for mac cleanup
    -restart and hold apple+S
    -restart and hold apple+option+P+R
    -software update
i dont know what else to do. is there something i can download to clean up un-used apps. or unistall items?
i just want to play my games and have my iMac run smoothley. if anyone can help thatd be awsome.
    skype me: castrojake
i just want someone who has had this happen, and fixed to help me out.

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?

  • Snow Leopard Crash / Freezing Issue - Keyboard Dead - Hard Reboot Required

    Good morning,
Been using Snow Leopard on a 24" 2.4Ghz iMac pretty much since the day of launch. Initially was very pleased, no real problems, seemed to run even smoother than regular Leopard, however, recently, my system has developed a bunch of issues, particularly when running word and/or transmission (possibly other apps, but I have noticed with these two so far).
The main problem is, very randomly, the system will lock-up. This can be after 1 hour or 24 hours, there is no real correlation. After the lock up, you are able to use open apps, ie Transmission, Word, Safari, Finder, etc, but they do not function correctly...for example
Word - You can click into documents, but any keyboard strokes are completely ignored.
Safari - You can browse links on default start page, etc, but you cannot create new tabs or type anything into the address bar.
Finder - You can browse folders; but you cannot perform any functions such as dragging to trash, etc.
Also worth noting, it the main menu bar at the top of the screen continues to say either "Word" or "Transmission" etc, regardless of what application you are in. Clicking on any applications icons in the dock has no response unless they were already running.
The system is unable to shut down or log off, and you cannot quit apps. The only option is to do a hard reset via holding down the power off button.
Note: My system is set to never sleep. There is no screensaver.
Any advice would be gratefully received. I'm a fairly new mac user so i'm not aware how to view log files etc., which may identify the problem.
    Many thanks in advance.

Just want to reiterate. I am seeing freeze issues with my iMac 2.8 GHZ 4GB ram and wireless keyboard and magic mouse. Had this for two years without problem. When a freeze occurs mouse is reponsive but clicks don't give result. I am unable to open window to force quit apps. It may be related to iTunes but I can't confirm. Happening again now, even as I type this I can't open other appslike console log. I add more later.

  • Leopard partially freezes up.

I'll return to my brand new 24" iMac to find network activity is dead, the Dock is completely unresponsive (mouseover does nothing, likewise any other attempted interaction), command-tab is dead, the Apple menu can be accessed, but nothing results from it, I cannot bring up force quit either from the KB shortcut or the Apple menu, some programs will have the spinning beachball of death, others that can be accessed (by clicking on their window, if I'm lucky and it's not covered by a hung program's windows) but upon closing a window or quitting the app it too hangs.
This has happened six times now over a two week period.
To summarise: the Mac's networking is unresponsive (other Macs on the same LAN are fine, it isn't anything other than this one Mac), the Dock is totally frozen, Force Quit cannot be accessed, and apps hang when I do anything more serious than look at them.
I can no longer trust this new Mac to stay up and running while I am gone. This is but one of many annoying issues I am having with it. I've been through three wipes of the HD and clean reinstalls of Leopard to try and fix earlier problems (which still continue to occur). This is also my second iMac. The first was declared DOA in under eight hours. So I'm not having a lot of luck here.
Also - these forums appear to be suffering serious issues. It took several tries to try and post this message. I am getting the errors:
"500 Unable to insert thread into the database: No operations allowed after connection closed.
Resin Professional 3.0.23 (built Mon, 22 Jan 2007 02:25:17 PST)"
"Not allowed to post messages more than once every 30 seconds." (but I haven't)
Plus upon login I was asked to create a user account???
Oh, and the drafts saved are incomplete. Nothing is working right with these forums.

What are you calling a clean install? This article explains the different installation options available:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607614
If you mean erase and install, it does sound like you have a hardware issue if you are getting partial freezes with no non-Apple devices connected to the computer and no non-Apple software installed. If any of these conditions is untrue, you have to eliminate all other potential causes this way after backing up your data at least twice to verify you definitely have a hardware issue with the computer. Bad RAM can cause such issues as my FAQ* here explains:
    http://www.macmaps.com/badram.html
And can often start without warning because no RAM can be tested for errors accurately. If it reports errors in a test, you can believe it. If it doesn't report errors in a test, you can't believe it.

  • CD Import Freezing

    Dear Apple,
I have an iMac G5 with iTunes version 7.0.2.
Every time I attempt to import a standard audio CD, iTunes freezes. It does not freeze in the same place on every CD, but does freeze in the same place on the same CD.
    ie:
CD 1 - freezes on the third track with 3:30 remaining.
CD 2 - freezes on the fifth track with 2:04 remaining.
However, if I insert CD 1 again, it will freeze once more on the third track with 3:30 remaining.
I recently updated to 7.0.2, however I have not imported discs for at least a few months, so I'm unsure if the issue was present for the preceding versions. I have tried removing and reinstalling iTunes to no avail.
I'd appreciate all help anyone can offer. I have searched for similar issues, they are, as yet, unresolved.
Thanks for your time and patience,
    Aaron Norlund
    Blahman

I'm having the EXACT same issue! I even tried playing the problem track on one CD, which froze iTunes in the same way as trying to import it.
Does your drive freeze up as well? I've got a SuperDrive, and it does this strange stop-go-stop-go thing over and over again until I Force Quit iTunes and eject the CD.
I'm really puzzled by this, as these aren't new, strictly-protected discs or overly scratched ones either... It's happened to me with a total of four discs now, and I am NOT pleased.
    Someone help us!

  • Macbook Air with Snow Leopard is freezing

I have a first gen, fully updated, Macbook Air currently running Snow Leopard.
Every once in a while, my computer completely freezes. No pinwheel, just a freeze. I can see the cursor, but I can't move it. It happens every few minutes and the freezes last for 10-30 seconds (sometimes even longer).
It doesn't have to do with heat because sometimes this will happen right when I open my computer. And sometimes it will do it after I've been working for an hour or so. Also, it's not limited to the programs that it does it on. It could be Firefox, MS Word, or no program at all.
It's very random, but it's happening more and more often (just happened while typing this question!! about a minute long freeze)

Check your Activity Monitor and see what your CPU power and memory are doing. How full is your hard drive?

  • Using "wizard" on a Mac OS X with Snow Leopard, importing bookmarks from Safari to Firefox should be seamless. Yet, when I try to select "Import..." under the File menu, the item is dimmed (unavailable) and unresponsive. Am I missing something obvious?

No more details. As indicated, the import function seems to be disabled.

I'm having difficulty visualizing what is wrong but try some basic steps first:
Launch Safari while holding a Shift key - this will start Safari with just your Home page
If you can see Reset Safari from the Safari menu, try that.
In addition to downloading and installing Safari again, try reapplying just the Snow Leopard Combo Update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 There is no need to uninstall Safari first.
Lastly try deleting Safari's Preferences file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist

  • Macbook on Snow Leopard Sleep freeze, slow boot time, blue screen, ... etc.

The macbook has the following problems:
    1. When closing the lid or pressing the power button the computer freezes, the fans start spinning fast it stays like that until it drains the battery. This happens every time.
    2. Start-up times are very long, like 3 or 4 minutes. This also happens every time.
    3. Now after a fresh snow leopard install it doesn't even start up completely, as it stays with the blue background and I can hear the music of the introductory animation.
The macbook worked ok with the factory installed Tiger. The SL DVD is OK, as its installation has been tested on another Mac. The machine's advanced hardware test passed successfully. Resetting Pram and similar actions were unsuccessful as solving the problem.
I don't know what else to do... please help.

So mine started doing some of the same things. It freezes when it goes into sleep mode. Then it starts to get really really hot and the drive starts spinning fast. It also takes a very long time to boot up. And it's unresponsive sometimes. I've wiped the drive and reinstalled a few times, but it's still like that. I don't know what's wrong.

  • Lightroom 5.3 Import Freezes

Okay so I have been importing images most all day and now all of a suddent Lightroom freezes at 23% when importing and never finished nor does it give any error message. I am using convert to digital negitive and import.
I have not a clue on where to start troubleshooting this so any help would be appreactied
    Wayne
    UPDATE -
I decided to create a new catalog (just to see if that was the issue) and that didnt correct the problem. It froze at 23% again.
Also when I close the program, the GUI goes away but if I launch task manager, its there running and I cant end that process. I have to restart (force) as a normal shutdown doesnt work. So to me, its pointing to the 5.3 update I did today.

This issue may have nothing to do with the camera per se.
Try expanding the destination sub panel on the R-hand side of the import dialog and see what happens.
Let us know if there is still an issue.

  • Order Import: Freeze price with Price Adjustments

    Hi Experts,
    I 've the following requirement:
    1) Import orders using the interface table with the price same as the source data (Freeze price - CALCULATE_PRICE_FLAG = 'N') for the lines.
    2) Import price adjustments (discounts) at header level using the oe_price_adjs_iface_all interface table.
I 'am able to import the orders and the price adjustments. But, the price adjustment doesn't seem to take effect since the price is frozen for the lines. I could see the imported price adjustment through View Adjustments - The adjustment data is greyed out and I see a message saying - The Discount/ Adjustment can not be applied on the order since one of the the line prices is frozen. The adjustment level is set to Order.
Can you please suggest how to overcome this error and achieve this requirement.
    Thanks,
    Ganapathi

-- we have been importing the sales order through API oe_order_pub.Process_Order
Users complained that they are not able to see the discount amount while creating the invoice.
We have checked the code and found that the following main parameters :-
    Unit_seeling_price :-- unit_selling_price + (discount)
List_price :- and the list price is same as the unit_seeling_price
    Calculate_price_flag = N
And due to aforesaid parameters values the values are same and it is not creating discount entry
    When user create the invoice.
User Requirement :-- they says that there list_price and unit_selling_price gets changed dynamically
As per business requirement. E.g. Customer C1 order for item Item1 and ITEM2
Then we give 10% discount and the list price is coming from Quotation (so it may vary).
Workaround :-- STEP1 we crate the sales order manually through form and with the following concern value:-
    Price list :-- Freeze
    Unit_selling_price :-- changed to anything
And found that the difference of unit_selling_price and List_price is the discount amount
    In the invoice.(Order Number 23910)
STEP2 We ran the create sales order through script using API and it created the sales order as usual.
Then we got the diagnostic report against Order Number 23906.
STEP3 We compare the diagnostic reports of Order Number 23910 and Order Number 23906.
And found that the adjustment entry is not there in the Order Number 23906.we believe that
Due to adjustment entry it failed to create the discount amount along with invoice amount.
STEP4 we tried to pass the adjustment entry in the API but failed using record type l_line_adj_tbl
In the script. In this script we need to pass different list price amount and unit_selling_price
    After applying discount.
    Please give some sol

  • Leopard keeps freezing after 15 minutes

After clean installing with Leopard, my computer keeps freezing up about every 10 or 15 minutes. I thought it was dashboard or spotlight but I'm not so sure. I disabled spotlight but there seems to be something else running in the background. It sounds like something is processing in the background like something is installing or updating because I can hear my hardrive and cpu working. Everything freezes except for my mouse. Any thoughts?

Run Applications / Utilities / Activity Monitor and select "All Processes" from the pull down menu at the top. Click on the CPU column to sort by CPU activity. See if you can determine what process is using up too much processor time.
At the same time, run Applications / Utilities / Console and select "All Messages" in the column at the left. See if any error messages are being thrown when the system gets stuck.
As basic maintenance, reset your Parameter memory (PRAM). PRAM holds copies of certain system settings for rapid access and if it gets out of whack odd things can happen. To reset PRAM, Shut Down the computer. Then reboot while holding down the 4 keys Apple-Option-P-R until you hear the SECOND startup chime, then release them. Your computer will continue to boot up normally.
Also run Applications / Utilities / Disk Utility. Select the line in the column on the left showing the name of your main hard drive. Then click on Verify Disk in the panel on the right (if problems are found you will need to boot from your Leopard install DVD and run Disk Utility from there to repair them). If no problems are found, then also click on Repair Disk Permissions in the panel on the right. It may put out some notifications, but if it finishes with "Permissions Repair Complete" you are fine. Then Restart the computer and see if the problem persists. Be patient with both of these. They will take a long time and the progress bar may not advance until the very end.

  • Excel R&A Import - Freeze Headers in Financial Reporting Studio don't work

Our users like financials in Excel and fully formatted to their liking so we create the template in Financial Reporting Studio and then import the template via Excel through Workspace via Independent Provider Connection. If the certain grid template in Financial Reporting Studio was set to several "pages" to produce, all the pages will popup on separate tabs in Excel. My question is, for each "page" which populates info on one tab in Excel, when printed, could be several printed pages long so the column headings don't reprint. I can manually set up Excel to reprint the column headings but since we produce thousands of reports with various templates, we don't want to run too many macros all the time. I know the export in PDF from Workspace will freeze the headers because I froze it on the template in Fin Rptg Studio, so how come the freeze headers don't translate in Excel?

Actually that's what I thought so that I won't have to run the config utility for a client install. When I did the Typical installation it gave me an option at he end of an install to run the Config utility or not.
As far as the registery cleaning is concerned, there are probably 100 entries all over the place. Pain the neck but I guess that would be my only option here.
With the vpd.properties file, I can definitly say that in 9.3.1.3 it is there. I have the same version installed on my machine and I have the vpd.properties file.
So, I think the bottom line would be to uninstall everything related to Hyperion.
Clean the registery for all Hyperion entries.
    Reboot and reinstall.
    Thanks for the reply though.

  • Imovie import freezes

I have iMovie 10.0.3.  I am attempting to import media into a new project.  The import pane opens, but my favorites (desktop and user) are grayed out.  Next to them I just get spinning wheels, so I cannot access anything on my HD.  I tried doing a drag and drop import, but that wouldn't work either.
I've done the trash-the-preferences-and-restart dance, but no luck there.
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hello:
I was having the same problem with iMovie 08 when trying to import "old" movies from 8mm or VHS video tape. It worked for a while but it seemed the more video that I tried to import the more it froze. I came across this other article where the person said that iMovie 08 is just going to freeze and that Apple will probably never fix it (this is probably true and iMove 08 is more geared toward non-tape imports). I was also having problems where the import from a firewire camera would have incorrect dates, this also caused problems and led me to figure out some new tricks.
    Notes:
*The files in the iMovie Events directories are named as follows:
    clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss
*If your thumbnails don't show up correctly, or at all, don't reimport your video, or you can import it from that point forward. Just close iMovie 08, delete the iMovie Cache and iMovie Thumbnails directories in that directory and restart iMovie. iMovie will rebuild this data competely.
    * Import anything from tape via a video interface or firewire using iMovie HD.
** What I do from here is break up the files and export them to an iMovie Events directory with a file name that represents the date and time like above. When you open iMovie it will rebuild the cache and thumbnail data cataloges and they will appear just as if you had imported them from a camera that had the time and date information embedded in the file.
This may seem time consuming (and it is) but it is very accurate and is much less frustrating than having the machine freeze up on every import!
