LR Library Module - Folder List sort order

As you can see above, the folders in the list are in apparently random order.  I cannot find any way to specify the sort sequence of this list.
Suggestions?

Try the following:
Right-click one of these folders and click on "Add Parent folder".
It will do that and then list the sub-folders of the parent-folder in alphabetical order.
No other option than alphabetical order exists, it's just the same as in your OS.

  • CCM Display List Sort Order

    Hello All,
    when the CCM search screen is brought into the SRM the items are displayed without any default sort order. is there a way to configure a specific order when the list is first displayed? i know that clicking on the column will enable sorting, but i would like to know if there is any setting that can predetermine the sort order before the list is displayed in SRM.
    thx in advance for your answers.

    Greg: there is no Customizing setting you can control the sort order with. I feel your pain :). Short of modifying the system, the only way you may be able to achieve the desired functionality is BAdI /CCM/CSE_ENRICHMENT.

  • Query result list sort order in the Service Manager Portal (2012).

    Hi there,
    I have a setup a user prompt for a request offering in which the values are based on a query results list.  When the user prompt is displayed in the portal the order of the items presented based on my query results list is in reverse
    alphabetical order (Z to A) instead of traditional A to Z.  I can clicked the column header to toggle the sort order, however having to do this is slightly annoying.
    My query results list is based on returning the Department field of a specific criteria of template AD user accounts (which are imported into the CMDB via the AD Connector).
    Where and how is the sort order defined?
    Thanks
    Bryan

    Hi Bryan,
    After a quick test I can see the query results is in a descending order based on the first display column of the query results configuration. In the Request offering wizard I don't see an option for sorting. I don't think it is possible to configure this
    out of the box.
    But maybe it is possible from a Self Service Portal rendering point of view. Maybe there is a key for it in the settings.xml just like the maximum of query results:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/servicemanager/archive/2011/11/08/advanced-query-results-customization-for-request-offerings.aspx
    If this is possible I'm also curious to know how! :)

  • Address book - mailing list - sorting order of names

    Generally difficult to edit mailing lists - alter order of names in the list - add email/names in middle of list - drop names from list - copy parts of list to another list - how can you edit a mailing list?

    1 at a time? I don't think so.
    Here is a bonus lesson in selecting multiple items.
    select item 1. Press control+a to select all
    select item1. move up or down several items and hold the shift key while clicking item 2. This selects items 1 and 2 and all items in between.
    hold the control key while clicking random items. This selects any item that is clicked on.
    hold the control key while clicking a selected item. This will deselect that item.
    You cannot drag and drop from a list though. This will only work in the address book itself.
    A contact must exist in the address book that the list is created in to be added to that list.
    You can move or copy contact between address books using drag and drop.
    Drag and drop to move. Hold the control key before dropping to copy. You will see a + sign appear to indicate a copy.
    There operations are universal and not a Thunderbird thing. It has been a part of computer shortcuts since the early 90's.

  • Mail Message list sort order for Applescript in ML

    Hi All,
    I recently upgraded from SL to ML. I'm having a few issues with an applescript i use to flag/unflag emails for later handling.
    Basically, the script does the following:
    - get the message list from one of the inboxes/smartboxes. These are ordered by time and grouped by thread.
    - compare one message with the next one
    - if some criterias are equal (thread ID, subject, ...) then the second email is unflagged
    - repeat until end of list.
    It was working fine in SL, as a result, i only had the first email of threads with a flag, so the others could be forgotten.
    In ML, it looks like even though the emails are displayed in a specific order (date/thread), using
    messages of first message viewer
    does not fetch the messages in the same order, so matching cannot happen.
    Is this the expected behavior in ML ? Is there anyway to have the list of messaged sorted as displayed ?
    Thanks
    jm

    I found a workaround, though there must be something neater.
    I added this before my script
    tell application "System Events"
              tell process "Mail"
                        tell menu bar 1
                                  tell menu bar item "View"
                                            tell menu "View"
                                                      tell menu item "Sort By"
                                                                tell menu "Sort By"
                                                                          click menu item "Subject"
                                                                end tell
                                                      end tell
                                            end tell
                                  end tell
                        end tell
              end tell
    end tell
    then the same except "Date" instead of "Subject".
    My script does what i want now.

  • Java library for large list sorts in small amount of memory

    Hi All
    Wondering whether anybody would know of a ready made java library for sorting large lists of objects. We will write ourselves if necessary but I'm hoping this is the sort of problem that has been solved a million times and may hopefully have been wrapped behind some nice interface
    What we need to do is something along the line of:
    Load a large list with objects (duh!)
    If that list fits into an allowed amount of memory great. Sort it and end of story.
    If it won't then have some mechanism for spilling over onto disk and perform the best sort algorithm possible given some spill over onto disk.
    These sorts need to be used in scenarios such as a random selection of 10% of the records in a 100G unsorted file and delivered sorted, with the jobs doing the sorts being limited to as little as 64MB of memory (these are extremes but ones that happen quite regularly).
    Some of you might think "just use a database". Been there. Done that. And for reasons beyond the scope of this post its a no goer.
    Thanking you for all your help in advance.

    Of course this kind of sorting was common back in days of yore when we had mainframes with less than 1MB or ram.
    The classic algorithm uses serveral files.
    1) Load as much as will fit
    2) sort it
    3) Write it to a temporary file
    4) Repeat from 1, altnerating output between two or three temp files.
    Your temporary files then each contain a series of sorted sequences (try saying that three times fast).
    You then merge these sequences into longer sequences, creating more temp files. Then merge the longer sequences into even longer ones, and so on until you're left with just the one sequence.
    Merging doesn't require any significant memory use however long the sequences. You only need to hold one record from each temp file being merged.

  • Smart Folder list view order

    Is there any way, after creating a smart folder, to make the list go from newest to oldest? All the contents are listed in random order.
    PowerMac G4 (10.3.9) 2 GB ram • PowerBook G4 (10.4) 1GB ram   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Thanks guys.
    It didn't even dawn on me to change it to list view using com/2 (as it appeared like it was in list view when clicking on the column/icon view in the upper right corner of the Finder window). Now I understand that that is not the "official" list view.
    Thanks again.

  • Contact List sort order

    In previous Skype version, when adding a contact via searching a list is provided, which was sortable by name, country ..etc   It was easy then to sort by country for example to find the name in a specific country .. BUT new version does not offer this feature .. you have to browse through the displayed search results pag by page which is very tedious to close in your search ... PLEASE RETURN THE SORTABLE LIST RESULT for contact search

    If you received  reply, please share it.  I'd like to be able to sort contacts by their last name and don't know how to do that.  Do you?

  • Default Sort Order for Library View

    It would be fantastic if there were a user defined preference for a default sort order in Library view. For example, some users may prefer to always view the images by File Name, or Rating, etc, without having to change the sort order for each individual folder they view via Lightroom.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your suggestion Allan, but it doesn't work.
    I'm specifically referring to the defaults that Aperture 3 adopts when you use the "File, Import, Folders as Projects with the projects and albums setting.
    What I'm finding is regardless of the setting in the Library preferences, the default sort order for the project is Date and Manual for the album.
    Yet if I create a project manually the default sort order is as per the Library prefs. Strange.

  • How to recover Folders from my Library Module

    I accidently removed the appearance of my 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 folders and all subfolders from my Library Module. All 13,000 photos are in my Pictures Folder. How do I get them to reappear in the Library Module. Thanks - Frank P

    Can you be more specific?
    What steps did you follow to "remove" these photos?
    What does show now in your Lightroom Library Module Folder Panel? (Can you show us a screen capture?)
    Do you have a backup of your catalog file? (If not, then why not?)

  • Sort order in Library Module

    I am having a problem in getting the sort order I want in Library module.  I originally imported JPEG files into a subfolder "Best Of".  I then returned to some of those photos (the RAW file) and developed them, then exported them as JPEG files to the same "best of" subfolder.  Although I have specified "capture date" as the sort criterion, the photos are displayed with the first batch of JPEG files in order shot, followed by the second batch of JPEG's that I developed, also in order shot.  As a result, all the developed files appear toward the end of the film strip, not in the actual order shot.  I would appreciate any tips.

    I can't replicate this issue with my Lightroom 5.5 on Windows 7
    However, if you don't mind me thinking out of the box, it seems like you are doing a lot of work to obtain a result that can be done much simpler, if you are willing to use a collection for this purpose. Simply drag the edited photo into a "Best Of" collection in Lightroom (no exporting needed), and you shouldn't have any trouble getting the proper sort order inside the collection. That's a lot less work than exporting! Saves disk space too! (And bvefore you object and say you have reasons why you need these in a folder for non-Lightroom purposes, that's easily solved by using a collection ... just do the export from the collection into a "Best Of" folder)

  • Library Folder Panel Sorting Question

    Can the folder sort criteria be changed in the library module folders panel (Win LR V 2.2)?
    I have looked in the help and either I overlooked the instructions or they are not there. I did find out how to change the contents of the folder display but not the sorting of the display.
    My problem is that I use a folder hierarchy of c:\yyyy\mm\dd-subject and the folder display only sorts on the lowest folder in the hierarchy. Therefore, if I have two (or more) folder sets ending with 05-james they display one under the other even though the full folder path may be c:\2005\03\05-james and c:\2008\11\05-james. I would like the sorting to be on the entire path as is done in Photoshop Elements folder view.
    Thanks for any insights or help.
    Cliff

    I would agree with Lee Jay; if you have a parent folder, then everything in the folder hierarchy displays correctly, in numerical order (using your setting of c:\yyyy\). And it displays sub-folders in numerical/alphabetic order too.
    So if you right-click on your current folders and pick "Add Parent Folder" it should work. In your example, it will create a parent with just the drive letter C: and all your sub-folders should now be listed in correct order. If that does not work, just highlight the newly-created top-level folder, right-click and pick "Remove" and in the pop-up window click the "Promote sub-folders" button; that will get you back to where you were.
    Another option is to do it in Windows. Create a folder called, for example, Photos on your drive. Move all your photo folders into that folder. When you start Lightroom, all folders will be shown as missing, but the job of finding them is simple; a right-click on the missing folder and picking the pop-up menu item with words similar to "locate missing folder" will find your "missing" folders.

  • Sort order in list wrong: in CAML and in view

    Hello,
    When I order my list with document sets by ID, the order is wrong. It is wrong in the list and with caml.
    This is my view (I just set the sort on the ID column):
    The first 4 objects are created by the Client Object Model; the last 4 are created by a SharePoint webpart that I developped myself...
    My code for creating document sets in COM is something like this:
    ListItemCreationInformation newItemInfo = new ListItemCreationInformation
    UnderlyingObjectType = FileSystemObjectType.Folder,
    LeafName = _strLeafname // = date in format YYYYMMDDhhmmss
    ListItem newListItem = myList.AddItem(newItemInfo);
    newListItem["ContentTypeId"] = targetDocumentSetContentType.Id.ToString();
    newListItem["Title"] = title;
    newListItem.Update();
    clientContext.Load(myList);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    The code in the webpart is this:
    SPContentType docsetCt = myLst.ContentTypes[p.GetFromResourcefile("xxxxxxxxxxxxxx")];
    Hashtable properties = new Hashtable
    {"DocumentSetDescription", ""},
    {"Title", txtTitle.Text}
    SPFolder parentFolder = myLst.RootFolder;
    int newId = GetLastId(myLst) + 1;
    DocumentSet ds = DocumentSet.Create(parentFolder, newId.ToString(CultureInfo.InvariantCulture), docsetCt.Id, properties, true);
    ds.Item["Title"] = title
    ds.Item.Update();
    why is the sort order wrong?
    if i do this query in the U2U Caml builder, the order is also wrong
    <OrderBy><FieldRef Name='ID' Ascending='FALSE' /></OrderBy>
    if i order by "created", the order is also wrong....
    i don't get it....

    Document Sets are great tools for grouping multiple documents together. However, if every set has exactly one document, it would be better to just upload the file and not place it within a Document Set:
    Uploading documents using object model - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ms454491(v=office.14).aspx
    Uploading documents using web services -
    http://cecildt.blogspot.com/2010/10/upload-documents-to-sharepoint-2010.html
    If you have requirements to use Document Sets, keep in mind that this adds a layer of complexity beyond a simple Document Library. Behind the scenes, each Document Set is treated as a separate folder, and although can you query items within it, there might
    be extra steps for getting the sort order to ignore the folder structure. Can you try setting the Scope to be "Recursive" and also specify that you are looking only for files and not folders:
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='FSObjType'/><Value Type='Lookup'>1</Value></Eq></Where>

  • Add_item : Attributes list collection sort order

    Hello:
    I created multiple custom attributes and added them to my custom item type. I need to apply these attributes while adding an item programmatically.
    1) How do i define the order of the Attributes list via the Portal builder so as to match the corresponding values read from a list/table,etc. ?
    2) The ordering arrow buttons in the attribute list of my custom item type does not match the result set from my query. I tried all options of "order by" clause. Here is the query - (componenttype is the name of my custom item type)
    select iatts.ID
    ,atts.caid
         ,atts.DATA_TYPE
         ,atts.CAID
         ,atts.NAME,atts.DISPLAY_NAME
         ,iatts.ITEM_TYPE_ID
    from wwsbr_item_types itypes
    ,wwsbr_item_type_attributes iatts
    ,wwsbr_attributes atts
    where --itypes.caid = 133
    itypes.name like 'ComponentType'
    and itypes.ID = iatts.ITEM_TYPE_ID
    and iatts.ATTRIBUTE_ID = atts.ID
    --and atts.CAID = 133
    order by atts.id
    3) I need to expect a certain order of the attribute ids, when bulk collecting into the attributes array, in order to populate the values collection in the same. So, how do I determine the order of the attributes ids ?
    4) Is there a better way to do this ?
    Thank You.
    regards
    Ananth

  • Changing sort order in Finder to display folder first

    In almost every other release of OS X there was a tweak to edit the frameworks so that you could have finder, when sorting by "Kind/Type"you could display folders first. Well of course they broke that in Leopard.
    Has anyone discovered a way to reinstate this nice little feature so that folders don't appear at the bottom of the list view but at the TOP like PathFinder?
    For those that are curious here WAS the "tweak" (go to System: Library: Frameworks: ApplicationServices.framework: Versions: A: Frameworks: LaunchServices.framework: Versions: A: Resources. Whew. Within that folder, you’ll see the English.lproj folder. Highlight it, and then select File: Get Info. In the Ownership & Permissions area, click on the Details triangle, click on the lock icon, and then click on the Owner pop-up menu and set it to your user name (enter your password if asked). Leave this window open; you’ll be changing it back in just a minute.
    Inside the English.lproj folder is a file named Localized.strings. Drag it onto TextEdit. Find the line that reads "Folder" = "Folder"; and insert a space before the F in the second Folder.)
    TIA,
    Peter

    Hi VFRJOEY,
    there is no way to change the sort order in column-view. This was under discussion since the very first release of MacOS X but never made it into any one of the releases.
