Lr Publish Service Provider: trigger by photos being moved within the local folder structure?

Hi folks,
I recently finalized my first Lr Export plugin and currently I'm working on the Publish Service Provider enhancements for that Export plugin. So far, everything works as expected except one thing::
The publish service provider supports mirroring of local directory structures to the publish destination. So, I am interested in photos being moved from one local directory to a different one, since I have to propagate this change to the destination. Lr informs me whenever a photo/video is changed (acc. to my settings in  publishServiceProvider.metadataThatTriggersRepublish()) or deleted, but what about the fact that a photo was moved from local directory a to b?
Any chance to register a trigger for a photo movement?
Martin

That's an interesting approach, never thought that way round!
It might not be suitable as a general prodedure for every single normal "Publish" action, because if you have e.g. 10 pictures with status "to be re-published" in a collection of  20.000 pics or more you wouldn't expect the Publish plugin to re-check all photo locations. That would make the publish process unacceptable lame and annoy the people.
But if I define it as a publish option ("check for moved photos only"),  this would be way to "automatically" find and mark moved photos for "to be re-published".
Well, not exactly what I was hoping for, but a reasonable second best approach.
Thanks!
Martin

  • HT201317 Why aren't the photos I moved to the uploads folder showing up on my devices?

Photostream is turned on and I copied some photos into the uploads folder on my PC but they are not showing up on my devices (iPhone, iPad).  Is there anything I can do to "push" the photos to them?  Thanks.

i would suggest getting downloading a user manual on google for yourself.   if you are trying to view the email w/the picture attachment on your phone it may not always work. depening on the email provider. on my android i can view the sam picture w/the same size on my yahoo but not on my gamil. so if you are using the app you need to change the app setting on the email. i would suggest using the browser. once your in browser choose the menu button on your phoen and change to desktop mode. usually then you will get an option to view /download images attachments. .  if you go onto a computer to view the pictures you will have not problem. (shouldn't")   trying sending the pip in a picture message , but sent to your multiple email accounts
have you tried sendin the message??? w/out the wifi.  thats not an error message its just a warning. your not goint to be charged any extra for sending a file. you have a data plan so that would be included. websited, just like facebook always have to disclose 'may be charger carried text/data rates' but if you have a plan there is no add'l cost.
picasas sucks, you can access thru google plus app, picasa app, or internet/browser/crome and going to websit
Dropbox is a backup application that you can use to back  up pix, music, documents, there must be the app arleady in your phone. if not download at the goolgle play store. they give you at least 2gb of backup space for free, might as well us
in addin you can back all your pix up with verizon cloud / backup assistnace. that is already in you phone under settings - accounts. you may have the app as well. you can view whats back up on your vzw.com account

  • Different Export / Publish Dialog for combined Export/Publish Service Provider

    Hi,
I'm writing a Export/Publish Service Provider that supports Publish and Export (supportsIncrementalPublish= true). So, there is only on sectionsForBottomOfDialog() which is used for both Export and Publish. This is nice since most of the setting options should obviously be identical for Export and Publish. A few settings though are only required by the Publish Provider. To keep the Export dialog as simple as possible I would like to hide the Publish specific settings when called via "Export".
Is there a way to identify whether the dialog was opened via "Publish" or "Export" so that I could hide some of the elements in the first case?
    Martin

Excellent! Totally right! Here's what I found on p.70:
              LR_isExportForPublish Boolean, read-only.
True when the current export operation is part of a publish service, either currently running or being edited in the Publishing Manager.
    RTFM!!
Exactly, what I was looking for!
    Thanks for opening my eyes...

  • Imported photos being moved to "Modified"

I'm confused as to why some of the photos I import from my camera are being moved to "Modified" when they haven't been modified. This is just some of the ones I import, and the same pictures are also imported to "Originals", so it's just taking up twice the space. Is there a reason?

    don,
Yes, there is a reason. iPhoto is a database application, and it creates its files in order for the database to function. Please heed the warning to not tamper with items inside the iPhoto Library folder from inside the Finder. If you start tampering with it you can sever the links to your files and even corrupt the entire database.
Most likely, the photos you see in the Modified folder are in portrait orientation. If your camera has an auto-rotate feature then the original, unrotated picture goes into Originals and the rotated version goes into Modified. The only way to avoid this is to turn that feature off in your camera, upload with Image Capture, and use an image editor to rotate before you import into iPhoto. Note that Preview will not actually rotate the file and will not be of any help here.
Another possibility is if you shoot in camera RAW. The RAW file goes into Originals, and iPhoto creates a jpeg version in Modified.
Finally, if you import video clips into iPhoto, you will see the actual movie file in Originals and a jpeg version of the first frame in the Modified folder.

  • Some photos are rotated within the wrong orientation

Hello fellow mac users, I am having a strange issue and would like your help.
Following a corruption of my iPhoto database, I used a third party software to repair the database. I also did additional things like repair thumbnails, etc... I managed to repair the library but I am now having a strange issue.
Portrait photos are rotated within the portrait frame. To repair, I need to swap the resolution in Photoshop:
    1. What I see in iPhoto.
    2. Rotated photo in iPhoto. This is obsviously distorted.
    3. Original photo after inverting resolution in photoshop...
Is there a conveninent way to perform a batch repair without having to open every photo one by one in photoshop??? I hame probably more than 500 photos like that!!!
    Thanks in advance!

The picture now looks fine in iPhoto (thumbnail is still wrong)
    Then try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #2, Rebuild Thumbails.  It might take more than one try.

You'll have to do that manually, i.e. export each album of photos to a folder with the same name located on your hard drive via  the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.

It would appear under the organizer tab that the photos are organised in the lowest folder in the folder structure within Windows Explorer.  How can I use the Windows Explorer structure to organise the photos within Elements.

In a situation such as yours, I tend to consolidate items into folders so I have folders of nice workable numbers of images, somewhere between 20 and 200 images. Now, whatever, once you've imported, do your moving within LR, not the OS! I will select all in a folder and drag into a folder a level or two or three above, and then delete the newly empty subfolders. I hope this helps a bit!
Once you've reached just new Imports of camera output, you'll be flying along.

How do I make drag sources disappear after being moved to the correct drop target in Captivate 7

Thank you so much. I could have searched a very long time and not found that. It is counter-intuitive to me that I would set the behavior for the drag source on the properties for the drop target.

  • Music videos being shown within the album list

is it just me, or are music videos now being shown within the music section as well ?
    for example.
a video for a single is correctly being shown in the "music videos" section within "my music".
however when i go into "my music" > "artists" > "single" - it is showing the video in there along with the music tracks.
now i'm pretty sure that they weren't being shown there before, but they are now and it makes is confusing when looking for play 1 track and it is now listed twice, 1 track and 1 video.

They have always been there on mine, same as Front Row on my Mac. The thing that bugs me is they are listed as 'Unknown Album' unless you assign an album name for the video track. This is true for all the music vids from iTunes. It doesn't look very professional. I might just add the album name 'Video' to them all so it looks a bit better.

    Any ideas? Thank you!

I had this exact same problem! Thank you so much Robert for posting a link to that script! That is truly an amazing Powershell script.
I had all the same errors that AK772 mentioned, but I chose to zoom in on a different issue that the script pointed out. When I ran the "Test CA Infrastructure" step it found several errors. When I looked at what the script was doing there it was
comparing the server certificate thumbprint in the registry (HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows Server\Identity) with the personal certificates (Personal Certificates in the Certificate snap-in using MMC). When I looked through them individually, sure enough
the thumbprint in the registry didn't exist in my certificate store. I have NO idea how this could have happened!
However, from there, I changed my Google search criteria and found the following excellent article:
    http://titlerequired.com/2013/04/29/windows-server-2012-essentials-an-error-prevented-the-dashboard-from-opening/
This told more about that error and showed how to regenerate the certificate identity in the registry. This totally saved me! Once I ran through the steps that he outlines, even though I got a timeout error towards the end, I could see that the certificate
thumbprint had changed in the registry and now existed in my personal certificate store.
Once I saw this, I tried going into services and manually starting the stopped "Windows Server Service Provider Registry" service. Sure enough it started right up, no error this time. Finally, I restarted the server so that all of the other dependent
services would come back up and re-ran the linked script above and everything was perfect.
Thanks so much for the breadcrumbs in this post and all of your contributions. I hope that this post will equally be able to help someone else through this very troublesome and evasive error!

  • How do I set up my AirPort Extreme  to provide IP addresses without being connected to the Internet?

II'm trying to set up my AirPort Extreme in the field without an Internet connection so that devises can communicate wirelessly but there aren't any IP addresses being generated

Just run the AE in router mode.. if you have difficult with the setup do it completely manually..
This is how I do it.
Airtport Utility can't find Airport Time Capsule on either of my 2009 Macs
As long as the AE is running in DHCP and NAT mode it will produce IP addresses.. however you cannot turn off WAN.
You could give it a static IP .. so set to static instead of dhcp if you like.. eg.
DNS and WAN errors.. double NAT, Ethernet unplugged, etc.. so it makes no real difference..
The AE will function fine as router (Wireless AP) to your network however..
    Just ignore all the errors.

  • Is data being saved within the photo?

    Hello,
So, in iPhoto '11, has Apple started saving data such as keywords, face tags, etc. on the photo file itself, or is it still within the iPhoto Library? In other words, if I edit the photo properties and move that photo on another machine, will these properties be carried along with it?
    Thanks,
    Sammy

The data is stored in the central databases.
However this is not a problem. You can +write the metadata to the file on export+ from iPhoto - just like you could for the last three versions. The data is written in standard Exif and IPTC metadata formats.
The only exception to this is Faces data, this cannot be written to the file as there is no convention of sharing Faces data. In other words, you can't share Faces from any app to a different app on any system.
If the other machine is a Mac using iPhoto then you can move the files +plus all metadata+ from ine Library to another using iPhoto Library Manager.
    Regards
    TD

  • I'm getting an error message in Lightroom 6 when I try to export a photo. It's "The specified folder is not writable". It doesn't matter which folder I pick, I get the same message. However, if I open the image in photoshop and then save it, it works just

I've already reset my lightroom preferences, didn't work. I also uninstalled, and reinstalled lightroom. Didn't work either.
I have no problems with any other programs including photoshop, so this has to be an issue with lightroom.
Also, I can import from a memory card using lightroom and save to them to the folders just fine, the error only comes when I'm exporting a photo after I'm done editing in.
I'm running windows 8.1 and the folders are all onedrive folders. (I have unlimited onedrive storage so I take full advantage of it.) I've always saved them this way, and only started having trouble after updating to Lightroom 6

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. I will try to check for other problems with the OneDrive troubleshooter though: Running the OneDrive troubleshooter - Windows Help

  • I have photos that are rotated within a photo stream created from a project even though the photo displays properly within the project. How can I get the photos to have the proper rotation within the photo stream?

I have a photo stream that was created from a subset of photo from a rather large Aperature project. Some of the photos show up rotated within the photo stream but are not rotated within the project. Why is this happening and how do I fix the rotation within the photo stream? I do have the latest version of Aperature and have all of the necessary updates applied to my devices used to view the photo stream. The photos do show up rotated within the photo stream segment of Aperature, so I am sure it is not an issue with the output device (iPad and Apple TV). I do know that I cannot edit photos within a photo stream, but no amount of editing within the project allows the photos to be properly rotated within the photo stream. All help would be greatly appreciated.

That will work, but it is the long way 'round.
As Frank noted, Book Albums are just specialized Albums.  Albums can show any Image in your Library, regardless of where the Album is located on the Library Inspector, and regardless of which Project contains the Image.  You can put your Albums anywhere (in a Folder called "Books" for example).  You can put Images from anywhere in your Library in any Album.
    The easy way 'round:
    - Make a new Book Album
    - Select Images you may want to put in your Book.  Flag them.
    - Select some more.  Flag them.
    - Go to the "Flagged" container (listed near the top of the Library Inspector), select all, and drag-and-drop them to your Book Album.
    - Repeat as needed, or just drag-and-drop directly into the Book Album.
Note that you can remove any Image from any Album (including Books) by selecting and hitting the "{Delete}" key.  This _does not remove the Image from the Project that contains it, or from the Library.
Note, too, that once the Images are in your Book Album, you then put them in the Book you are creating for publication.  The Book Album contains the superset of Images with which you populate the Book itself.  The Book Album also holds the Book.
A good (imho ) introduction to the parts of Aperture can be found in this short guide I wrote.
The User Manual is helpful.  Here is
    the chapter on making Books.
    From that chapter, here is
the section detailing how to create and populate a Book Album.
