LR rotates images as they were at the upload

Hi everybody
I went back to a folder I haven't been looking for about 3-4 months. After I located the folder from the external disk all the images opened, with my surprise, without the rotation I have set at the time so I had to to do it all again. Usually LR should retain the settings you apply to images, with no time limitation. So what happened in this case?
p.s. it's even worse: LR is opening the images, in Grid View, initially with the rotation I set after the first opening but as I scroll down, always in Grid View, the images showed in the screen are rotated back as they were at the upload.
Then I scroll down a bit more, images that were out of view are showed with the correct rotation and after a while they start rotating as they were at upload .....what the hell is going on???

I think the key is when you said you have not viewed these pictures in 3-4 months. Therefore LR deleted its previews and the effect you are seeing is LR re-making them. If it does not have a preview in its cache it tries to be quick by showing you the JPG preview in the image file. That's as the camera recorded it. The it makes a preview from the image data, and finally applies the editing steps either from the catalog or the XMP information in the file.
So if you give LR the time to do all that it should give you the pictures as you last had them in LR.
I just went back to some pictures from February in my catalog and LR did recall the image orientations.
BUT - I am also confused. I did a test and rotated a picture in LR. That rotation did not appear in the History panel. That surprised me, because LR does remember any rotations applied. I don't know where.
Another factor may be that many cameras record the orientation in the EXIF. Thus my Canon DSLR rotates images correctly on the LCD display whereas my Nikon Coolpix P6000 does not. This could be part of your issue:- the camera's notion of orientation vs. LR's.
So this is only a partial answer but I hope it helps.

You can go to Settings/iCloud and delete the account, then create a new iCloud account. You can still use the same account for the app store though.

I am now busy backing them up into my external hard drive, again, but just now including the ones from about August 2011 to now. I don't back up often enough, but thank gosh I haven't lost them all. I have an old version of iPhoto and I was prompted to update to '08, which I thought I had and BOOM - all the photos were gone when I said "no". I have lost all my albums and wonder what it will look like if I put them back in? They were found in the iPhoto Data folder. I looked it up in iPhoto Help.

These are not your Photos. They are just the thumbnails that show in the iPhoto Window. They are tiny and not useful for anything. Look for your photos in the Originals Folder.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'. Are any Libraries listed?

In iOS 6, now both the iPad and the Apple TV have to be on the same network and both have to be connected using WiFi ? Why did they change this ? Means that the iPad and the Apple TV box both have to be in range of the wireless router when this wasn't a restriction before. Apple TV could be anywhere as long as it was connected to the same wireless router via ethernet cable. Seems like an unnecessary thing to restrict.

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

Can I get iTunes to file ripped tracks in the exact order they were on the CD?

300 years ago, Bach wrote the Well Tempered Clavier "songs" to be played in a certain order. The geniuses at Apple offer lots of options for arranging the ripped tracks in every order except "List tracks in the order they were on the CD". Anyone have any ideas why Apple INSISTS upon destroying this carefully created order? iTunes CD imports are ripped in sequential order, why can't iTunes simply put them in the library in the order they are ripped? To omit this simple and obvious ordering is INCREDIBLY STUPID!! If the option to put CD tracks into the iTunes Library in the order they are ripped exists, but has been hidden by some genius, does anyone know how to find it? Why are programmers so obsessed with giving us "features" that they completely overlook the simple option of "Do not reorder the tracks at all", just store them in the library?

They don't. By default iTunes will import tracks and allow them to be viewed as albums in the "correct" order, assuming that the metadata elements used to control grouping into albums are correctly set.

Because "the order in which they are ripped" is not a well-defined concept. iTunes groups tracks into albums and orders discs/tracks within albums based on well-defined metadata elements. The issue that you may seeing is that much of the information that iTunes pulls from Gracenote to supply metadata for imported CDs is inconsistent or just plain wrong. Once the metadata is correctly specified, tracks will always be ordered correctly in the iTunes library (assuming sorting by album, disc # and track #).

Reader doesn’t create pdf files. You can use Acrobat (ask in that forum) to create pdfs. You can subscribe to the Adobe PDF Pack which has a create pdf functionality (please ask in that forum), or you can use a third party utility such as ghostscript, cutepdf, or Microsoft’s own PDF creation capability. For third party pdf creation you will need to ask in a forum dedicated to that software as fellow users of Reader are unlikely to have the knowledge to help.

- If you restored the 5G frmm the iTunes backup of the 3G were th app in the iTunes library of the computer you used? They have to be.
- If yes then try again. When I first restored my iPad 4 from the iTunes backup of my iPad 1 app data did not transfer. I tried again and it did.

FCP X deleted about 2/3 of events to a project and the project. I uploaded the project to vimeo from FCP X, and the next day when I tried to use FCPX, they were gone, the events are gone from fcp and my ext hd, the project is still on the ext hd.

No, I don't have identical projects on a second drive, only saving to the movies folder on internal HD. The files and media save there fine, but fcp doesn't seem to recognise them the next day, just opens with one new untitled event and no projects.
I have tried saving to en external HD tonight and will see if the problem happens again with this set up when I restart tomorrow.
But I should be able to save to internal HD, so something is going wrong...

My mistake, it was nothing to do with format. It woldn't sync because my movies were HD. HD movies won't sync to an iopd classic 160 GB but when you purchase a HD movie, itunes gives you a SD vervsion of the movie which is compatible with the ipod. Just needed to go to store, click movies, click purchased and untick the HD box and there you have the SD versions. Download the SD versions and then sync your ipod and bobs you uncle, movies are on the ipod
