LR sees images to import, then says, "Nothing to Import"
I am moving folders inside and outside LR to figure out the best way to do some big re-org tasks. One folder I moved in Windows had only eight items. These were imported as a whole folder when I synch'd their one-level-up containing folder. But LR only imported four of the images in that folder. All eight show in Windows explorer and one of the missing-in-LR ffiles works just fine: not corrupted, etc.
If I click the folder that contains these eight files, and ask THAT folder to synch, LR reports that there are no items to import. I'd like to kmow what went wrong, and I have to come up with the best way to make thes other big moves.
Looks like it's best to move the folders in Explorer (when there is LOTS of moving to do), then when they show as grey folders in LR with their question marks, re-find them through Lightroom's process. I believe Victoria Brampton recommends this... I looked on her site but could not find her reference, but I believe that I read that a few weeks ago.
As others have remarked here, database moves with individual folders are tedious in LR.

Holy Cow! ...as we say here in the States... I did not know that. I just tried it using CTRL-<click> to select a couple of folders and moved those puppies.
Gotta make my life better. Thank you Adobe. All the responses and threads the search engine found for this question were 2007. 2008, 2009. So those threads never mentioned the change.
I hope this shows up in the next search for someone else. I will look again at the keywords I chose for the request.

Getting error message on import that says can't import jpeg files and won't import
why can't I import from the camera that I always use with my iPhoto? On connecting the camera, error message says "can't import jpeg files." None of my camera settings have changed. Is it a problem of connectivity with old camera and new iPhoto '11?
Not an old camera problem - most likely a memory card format problem - when was the last time you reformated yoru card?
What camera do you have? Does image capture work?

Adobe elements 10 Photoshop will not import my scanned photos.. I keep getting an error message that says the photo already exist. But I know that these photos have not been scanned in the past. They are not in my library. The person in chat says I should come here to the forum and my question will be answered.

IMovie will not import - but says it is importing
When I try an automatic import with iMovie, it finished in about 3 seconds and nothing happens (There is about an hour's worth of video on the tape). When I do a manual import, a blue screen appears which says "Importing" but no photo clips display and the timer on the top right corner stays at zero. What is going on? It sees my camera (JVC Mini DV3) but I cannot seem to do anything with the video on the camera. If I click stop or close the movie is nowhere to be found. If I quit iMovie, it does not prompt me to save anything (obviously, because nothing imported). Any idea what is going on? Help! Thanks in advance.
It finally worked on about the 12th time! I did have to hit play first, then Import, and although I tried this previously it finally worked this time. Hopefully it is not so tempermental in the future!

I'm having a problem. When I try to import images ( directly off my camera - Canon G15 ) it appears the files are being transferred but I get this message saying " Nothing was imported. The file(s) or folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types, or the files are already in this catalog." "Reason: the file is damaged or is in a format that cannot be included in Elements Organizer". I've never had happen before, in fact, photos from my Canon 5D Mk 2 download into Organizer as they should. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, PSE 11. My photos are in RAW ( CR2 ) format. Movies from the G15 are in MOV format and they imported OK, only the photos are not. I had a problem with my computer a month ago & Windows was reinstalled. Prior to this time I've never had a problem importing files. Tried reinstalling Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements but that didn't help. My software is up to date, I have ACR 7.4. I have 2 SD cards of photos with this problem & have not tried using another card to test it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Glenn.Hi MichelBParis,

I am trying to bring pictures into the browser, using organize. I am using :Select media from files and folders.
When I select the ones I want and try to import them, I get a message that says nothing was imported because they
are already in the catalog. How do I get them imported into the browser so I can work with them? I want to do
some editing and put them in albums they currently are not in.
I am using Photo Shop Elements 9.0.
DanSince you are trying to import from given folders, could you set your organizer display to thumbnail view instead of folder view, then use the 'Find' menu to find a given file by filename? If you can, the files are really in your catalog.

Lightroom 4.1 - Shows 14 files to import/sync, then says none found
I have Lightroom 4.1 for Win7x64.
When I right-click on the folder where I keep all my photos, and choose synchronize, it says I have 14 images to import.
I click import, it does it's thing, then says 'no photos or videos were found to import' and that's it.
Tried closing/reopening and trying again, selecting/deselecting the options in the sync menu and still says 14 to import, then nothing found.
... is there a way to 'flush' the database or something?
Currently downloading the 4.2 update... on a side note... what kind of "update" is 750MB???? seriously... most programs are smaller than that!A LR for Windows update contains an installer for both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions of LR, but you usually only install one of those.
I would guess that they are duplicates that have a different name from the initial instance of them, and the quick check during Synchronize doesn’t figure that out, but the more sophisticated check during Import does.
One way to determine this would be to show the Import dialog and enable the Allow Duplicates and see if the 14 are available for import, then. I’m not saying you should import them, just determine if they are duplicates. If they are duplicates then you can determine if you want to delete them. -
I have a new iPod Touch and am trying to download photos for the first time. Both iPhoto & Image Capture recognize the device but don't seem to recognize the photos, or at least I can't import them. Nothing happens when I click on anything in either.
If you manually open iPhoto do you not see the photos?

Yu are trying to impoort photos taken by or saved to the iPod, right? If the photos were synced to the iPod then iPhot does not work. -
ever since i forgot my apple id password and changed to a new one, I am continually being asked to enter my iCloud password. It then says that this mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with "my username". nothing I do in in preferences helps.
You have to sign out completely in System Preference>iCloud (click 'Sign out') on a Mac, or Settings>iCloud on an iOS device (click 'Delete account' - this will not delete the account from the server). Then sign in with the new password.
Your iCloud data will disappear from your Mac or device when you sign out but will reappear when you sign back in. -
Clicking on "order prints" just says "connecting" then does nothing ...
I fear that I screwed up somewhere in setting up my 1-click setting and now when I select a photo and click on order prints, it just says connecting then does nothing. It doesn't even take me to the 1-click screen to allow me to change account info. Does anyone know of a way to at least get me back to the 1-click page to allow me to associate my mac account to iphoto?

My Images won't open in Photoshop CS5 when I click on Edit in Lightroom - even though this option has been selected? To edit in Photoshop I have to export image from Lightroom then import into Photoshop. I have other programmes such as NIK and if I wish to edit in these everything works fine.
Same here. I've never had trouble with this function before.
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1 Lightroom is version 5.7 Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4

I am trying to upload my photos to iphoto. I keep receiving a error message that say "Iphoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image" What do i Do?!
Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there? -
Aperture does not recognize that there are images to be imported on an SD card. My workaround is to copy the images from the SD card to a folder and then import the images from the folder. Aperture also imports incredibly slowly after the update to 3.4
Check your Import settings in the Import Panel, i.e. all that might exclude the image type you want to import:
If you did not exclude any file types, and still Aperture will not import, remove your ImageCapture preferences fro your user library:
To remove the image capture preferences:
If Aperture is running, quit Aperture, and log off and on again.
Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/ then hit return.
In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture something .plist remove them too.
then try again.
And if that still does not help, remove the Aperture preferences as well:
~/Library/Preferences/aperture.plist

P.S. in MacOS Lion and later the user library ~/Library is hidden by default.
You can reveal it also from the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > Go, then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences". -
I have tried to order a photo book. Both times it uploaded images etc and then after payment details a message pops up saying this album couldn't be processed. Please try again. Has anyone else experienced this? Can the photo books be printed in store?
