LR Slideshow is interrupted by other apps

Hi,
I'm using LR 2.6 on MAC (v10.5.8) and have a dual screen set up and working nicely. I plan to use LR to monitor a watched folder which will receive JPGs from the camera wirelessly. I have the wireless reception set up and working. I will also use LR to print on demand if a customer wishes to purchase.
However, when LR is performing Slideshow in the second monitor, when a file is received, the Finder app pops up a window to helpfully show me the newly received file. This interrupts the slideshow.
Similarly, when I use the Print module, the Epson Ink monitor app pops up, which also interrupts the Slideshow.
I have tried running LR in its own Space, but this doesn't seem to help. I've found a way of disabling Finder, which has some small side effects upon start up, but does what I need it to do (i.e. go away!). Details here: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20060722234910582
Is there any other setting within LR or the Mac that will enable me to give LR priority over other apps and ensure that the Slideshow carries on regardless?

Lightroom has no control over what gets priority over your second screen, that's controlled by the OS

Streaming from ipod/ipad to ATV2 interrupted when using other apps at the same time.

Hi. I have an Apple TV2, ipad1 and ipod touch4. I am having trouble with music streaming to the ATV2. I can select a song on the ipad/itouch and stream it to the ATV2 no problem using airplay. However, if I then try to surf the net on the ipad/itouch or use any other app at the same time as listening to the music, the music hiccups. It seems to me like the ipad/itouch need to use the wifi network at the same time and so they take over the signal momentarily. Any ideas what I can do about this? My wireless router is a dual band 2.4 and 5 mhz gigabit router that is brand new and should not have any problems.

Ferrell, I have done what you suggested. I clicked onto the Spaces icon in the upper control panel and assigned spaces to six apps: Mail, Safari, iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, and iWeb.
The problem is that if I am one app and I want to put something into that app, then the minute my mouse cursor goes to get that other thing, the original application into which I want the thing put GETS WHOOSHED OFF THE DESKTOP. What I want is for the original app to remain open whilst I go to retrieve a file or folder, and stay open while I put that thing into the original app.
How does one turn off Spaces? I don't mean to delete all the names from the settings.I mean, just turn it off for a while so I can do something which requires for two apps to be open at the same time????

ITunes files missing in Media Browser for all other apps

I've read many and posted a couple times about this issue, but new information has come to light, so I figured I'd give it one more shot.
Somewhere along the line from migrating from 2007 MacBook to my newer 2010 iMac, I've lost the ability to see my iTunes files in other apps in the media browser. This is very specific to the user that my main library (237gb). I've got a separate library on a different user account, no issues there. It happens in all of the iLife apps(like trying to add music to a slideshow), iWork apps (clicking on media), Mail (attaching a .mp3). Oddly enough, Audacity has no issue seeing the iTunes files. I've tried several solutions, including re-installing the Media Browser, and trashing the .xml file (Apple's own solution found here). Nothing worked. I had hoped the release of Lion might fix the problem, and I upgraded "the Apple way." The problem persisted.
I had thought perhaps the issue lied from carring over old code, apps, or whatever from the migration. I had hoped doing a clean install of Lion might do the trick. I finally got an external to move the library too, and do a very manual migration. Copied all documents and media to the external, boot from the Lion Boot CD I created before upgrading the 1st time, reformat drive, install Lion. It went off without a hitch. I made sure to copy all of the database files (.xml, .itl), and while all of my settings, playlists, and play counts were preserved (something that is important to me), the same problem reared it's head.
Another idea came was to start a new user account, and just use the media files, and not the database files. After simply dragging the media folder into iTunes and copying the files (the drobo has plenty of space), it worked perfectly. Except I had lost all of my play counts, settings, and playlists.
So the question is, is there a solution to fix the old user account, or is there a way to rebuild what I've lost in the new user account? I'm using completely updates software in Lion, iLife, iTunes, iWork, etc.

Turns out my "iTunes Library.itl" file was corrupt. I used the old "iTunes Music Library.xml" file to rebuild a new library with existing playlists and play counts. Though that didn't go off completely without a hitch, I did find this solution. Problem solved.

IPhoto 6.0.6 (322) Will Not Print (all other apps can)

I automatically updated iPhoto to 6.0.6 (322) and now get this message when trying to print a picture:
"No pages from the document were selected to be printed."
I copied the message from the opened tab. All other apps can print.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions after the iPhoto update? If no give it a go now. Also turn off photo sharing if you have it turned on in the iPhoto's prefs (longshot).

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Problem drag/dropping photos to other Apps (e.g. PowerPoint).

I just got a new camera (FujiFilm FinePix S5700) and the photos from this camera can't be drag/dropped to other apps. If I try it I get the error message "Quick Time and a Tiff decompressor are needed to see this picture"
That puzzles me because the file info shows the pictures as being jpeg files. If I export the photos somewhere else I can drag/drop them into other apps, but not directly from IPhoto. I have had photos from two other cameras and have not had this problem. Any ideas?

Try this test. Import a photo from the camera to the desktop first and then import into iPhoto. Now see if that photo can be dragged into another app. They do have a jpg extension on the file name, right?

I installed a new printer and Acrobat Pro is not listing it as an option in the drop down box. Other apps are working. Printer is networked, platform is Windows.

sorry, other apps are working fine and finding the new printer. HP Officejet 8620.

I've rebooted numerous times, reloaded the software twice, spent 4 hrs on the phone with HP and 2 with Adobe. No luck. It simply doesn't show the new printer in the drop down menu for Pro or Reader and yet shows time in all in Office, Paint, Web options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

App store reports Pinball HD and 11 other apps cannot be purchased at this time.....

App store reports "Pinball HD and 11 other apps cannot be purchased at this time"..... This occurs whenever I log into the app store. I have already purchased this app (and presumably the 11 others as well). I believe this started when it showed up as an app I should update (for free).
My wife and I share this iPad and we have apps purchased under two different store accounts on this machine. I have tried to log off and sign in with her account and then check updates but with either account I am told that all apps are up to date. All of our credit card info is current. Any clues?

This is an iPad 1 - I've had it since it first came out (ordered directly from Apple). Lots of apps and purchases over the years. My wife got her own WiFi only iPad shortly after mine as she fell in love with it and I don't share well. ;) This only started about 7-10 days ago. I did not update to iOs 5.1 until last night so this predates that. My concern is that when the iPad 3 arrives next Friday that this will transfer over.
Ever since my wife received her own iPad our purchases are pretty much separate.

AS I FOUND OUT LATE, LION DOES NOT SUPPORT ROSETTA, WHICH SUPPORTS QUICKEN AND CLASSIC AOL, AND MANY OTHER APPS. CAN I TAKE LION AWAY AND GO BACK TO SNOW LEOPARD?

I found out after the install of LION, that it does not support Rosetta, which runs Quicken and the classic AOL software and a myriad of other apps.
Can I go back to Snow Leopard? Is there a way to retrieve my thousands of saved E mails, which are saved on my Mac?
I still see the filing cabinet with my screen name but cannot get them to open.
Please help! Lion may roar, but the fact it does not support apps like quicken means it purrs.

I had the Apple store wiped out my hard drive and I restore my last hard drive downloard by first placing Snow leopard DVD in the DVD drive and holding "C" when turning on the machine then I follow the instructions. I am back on snow leopard and trying out two finance software to replace Quicken for mac 2007. I am trialing Quicken essentials and ibank. They are both compatable with LION. So when I am ready will download Lion again. Also, Micorsoft Office needs to be 2011 version for it to work on Lion

In Pages 5.2, some fonts "not available", yet present in Font Book and working in other apps

Using Pages 5.2, I open a document created in a previous version, and I get error messages about certain fonts within a font family being "not available" in OS X. However, these supposedly unavailable fonts are present in Font Book and work just fine in all other apps running on OS X. In fact, I still have the older version of Pages on my system, and it still finds the fonts without issue. The specific fonts troubling me at the moment are Myriad Pro Semibold It and Myriad Pro Cond. Pages 5.2 replaces them with Helvetica. I have wasted hours of time trying to resolve this problem, and I am at a total loss. What can I do?

Like so many other thing is is probably gone. Why not use Pages 09 that has about 100 features more than Pages 5. If you haven't deleted it it should still be in Applications/iWork 09 folder.

3rd party email addresses have to be deleted on every synmced mac product, although I have 1and1.co.uk and my imac updatetes the mails in that account from mac mail.
Yahoo etc is a 2 step deleting process but good to get your emails pushed when on the go.

I can't open almost any app on my iMac (OSX Lion 10.7.4). Every time I attempt to do so, the app "unexpedtely quits" and can't go further. This happens with iTunes (when I turn to the iTunes Store), MacApp Store, Software updates an many other apps...

I can't open almost any app on my iMac (OSX Lion 10.7.4). Every time I attempt to do so, the affected app "unexpedtely quits", showing a window (sort of expanded dialog box) with the log history, wich form a complete report wich is said to be sent to Apple. Despite that this window has a "restart" button, I haven't been able to go any further from this point, as it repeats the process again and again, impeding me to use the affected app.
This has get to a critical point, as it is afecting apps like iTunes (especifically when I turn to the iTunes Store from within te app), MacApp Store, Software Updates (I can't update anything, given this problem) and many other apps, including Aperture 3, Fusion 4, integrated Dictionary and Wikipedia, as I've been able to verify.
As far as I'm concerned, it hasn't affected apps like Office, Vectorworks, Pixelmator, iDraw, Quick Note...
Can anybody help me on this matter?

Lightroom 3 Error Working With Photos That Work With Other Apps

My Setup:
Lightroom 3.3 for Mac
iMac OS X 10.6.6
The problem:
Lightroom is unable to work with photos it used to be able to work with. In the Library Module I get the error message "There was an error working with the photo." In the Develop Module I get the message "The file appears to be unsupported or damaged."
Now I know the photos are ok because I can view them in other apps including Photoshop CS5
And these photos used to work in Lightroom.
I am suspicious it has something to do with Picasa, which I use to catalog faces. I have compared the exif data and the photos that don't work have an extra value called "Image Unique Id" and it appears to be a long hexadecimal number. Also, the software version has been modified to indicate "Picasa".
It bothers me that a world class product like LIghtroom is not robust enough to work on these files when everything else I have tried does work. The problem is LIghtroom is the primary tool in my workflow.
So has anybody seen this and know of a way to fix it?

Thanks for the feedback, but my I think my concern is valid. Whatever Picasa is doing to the photo other apps like Apple Preview and CS5 can deal with it. Lightroom cannot. I am not explicitly modifying the files in Picasa just using Picasa to catalogue the faces. So yes, I will quit using Picasa, but I still have hundreds (if not thousands) of photos that can no longer be processed by Lightroom and I need guidance on how to best recover these photos.
I didn't know whether the Image Unique Id is standard or not, but I do know it does not show up in the files that work, only in the files that do not work. I just assumed that it was non-standard because I did not see it on functioning files.
Also, I would argue that Lightroom should be better able to handle this kind of situation instead of just not working. Thanks again.

App Store, Pages 5.0, Evernote, and other Apps will not fully function after installing Mavericks. What is the issue and how can this be solved?

Hello all, I could use some serious help on some major issues I have been having after installing Mavericks on my system (specs stated below). Never has a mac felt ever so rebelious and broken before in my lifelong period of using these systems. Anyway, after installing system 10.9, I had opened the mac App Store upon seeing that applications such as my iWork suite all had free updates. However, when I would attempt to navigate to the updates window, it would not respond to my various attempts. I then tried to get there by the system's menu bar and to my dismay, nothing would work when I clicked on it, not even the apple logo menu. I later quit the application using Command-Q and opened up the App Store by the apple menu option 'Software Update...' instead. Though it looked promising since the updates window did open, all update buttons or even '...more' info buttons were unresponsive. These same problems persisted even after restarting my computer. I had also attempted to see if repairing definitions would help by booting from the recovery start-disk and using disk utility but the repairs it carried out apparently had nothing to do with my issue. Finally, I was able to update to the new iWorks suite (which interestingly did not replace the iWorks '09 suite) by following the notification that asked about allowing automatic updates which I did.
Once trying to use Pages 5.0, I soon noticed that all I could do was merely type in a new document and change various options via key commands. Neither the inspector or top bar menus would respond to any place I click. Similarly, Evernote only starts up on the last used note and merely allows me to scroll through it. The top bar menus, the note select pane, and even clicking inside the note to input text are all not functioning and uninfluenced by any mouse clicks.
I have noticed other apps that will not respond to any sort of input, but I still have not explored all applications to know what the issues of each may be. However there are some applications that work such as Safari, Google Chrome, dolphin, iWork '09 including Pages '09, and others.
I do hope that I can avoid rolling back my system, but in the meantime, it has been quite the obticle course to use my computer for all of my school purposes.

I also forgot to note that this problem also persists with the new iBooks application. I cannot get past the 'Get Started' screen or access the iBooks Store. Again, all top bar menus are unresponsive.

SSO to other apps via HTTP header variable

We are on NW EP6.0 SP16. We need to add the "user id" as http header variable so that other apps which are non SAP can access our header variable and log on with that user id. Is this available by default? Or we want to achieve this how best we can achieve this.
We can use the code to get the user id and add it to header variable. If we use this route which is the jsp page we need to add the code?

we can you login modules provided by SAP to accomplish this.. you can use header variable authentication login module to acheive your requirement.
