Lr v.5.6 slideshow burn to DVD

I have Lr-5.6 on Windows V7 - Put 301 photos to slideshow saved file and burned to DVD disk. IT plays on my desktop, and my Sony DVD player, but not on DVD at church. What can I do to create a DVD slideshow that will play on most DVD players?

If this is a standard DVD player instead of a BluRay player, you'll have to use a DVD authoring program to create a standard video DVD. Just putting a file on the disc won't work on old-fashioned DVD players. Lightroom will not do this for you. There are many authoring tools like that and all require some getting used to. Also the final quality is usually fairly bad as standard DVD video is very low resolution (720x480 pixels only). You might actually have more luck with just exporting a folder of jpegs and dumping those in a folder on the DVD but you'll still only get the images displayed at 720x480. Many DVD players will play those though.
Bottomline is that if you want the disk to play on all DVD players, you'll have to live with fairly poor quality.

  • Slideshows burned to DVD have poor resolution

I just started using iMovie for doing slideshows and the resolution is really bad when burning to DVD. What am I doing wrong? My photos are fairly big but even when I strink them they come out bad. Same happens with iDVD.

There are MANY factors that can influence the quality of a slideshow that is put on a DVD.
The usual issue is people not understanding that a DVD image is lesss than 640x480 Pixels in NTSC - that's less than 0.3 megapixels. Blowing such a small image up to full screen on a computer monitor will never match the original quality of a 'multi'-megapixel digital camera image.
Having said that, there ARE ways of optimizing the quality of slideshows you create on DVDs. I recently created several large slideshows using FotoMagico - by using the custom output option, I was able to create DV movies that in my opinion were sharper that those I could produce in iMovie and which produced better DVDs. Other people prefer to use Photo to Movie. I believe both operate in a trial mode so you can see it you like the results.
Another way to optimize quality is to use something like Photoshop to resize your images to the sizes recommended in Preparing images for DVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/6.0/en/17.html because Photoshop seems to do a better job of reducing the image sizes than does Quicktime as used by iMovie/iDVD.
BTW, in iDVD , despite the names Apple has give the two compression modes, 'Best Performance' will usually give you a better looking slideshow DVD than will 'Best Quality'. ONLY use 'Best Quality' if your content runs over 60 minutes on a single-layer disc.

  • Imove (slideshow) burn to DVD..

    Hi,
I created new slideshow with music in imovie.  I would like burn to DVD.
    1. May I burn to DVD-R..
    2. I would like to know how to burn, step by step.
    Big Thanks!

you need a program such as iDVD, or Roxio Toast Titanium.  iDVD has been discontinued by Apple but can still be purchased online through 3rd parties, but you need to purchase the iLife boxed set.

  • Creating 2 slideshows - burn to dvd

Hey everyone. I am new to using Encore and have a question in regards to creating slideshows. I have created 2 seperate slideshows, each with images and music and I would like to know how I can put them together to burn on a dvd. I would need the first slideshow to play all the way through, and then the second one to play right after the first. Ideally, I would like to have them keep looping over and over again as the dvd will be continuiosly played in the background during a party.
Is this something that is easy to do in Encore? I am currently using Encore CS5.1.
    Thank you in advance!

Stan's reply assumes that you have your two slideshows in the same project at the moment - I am not clear from your post whether this is the case.  If they are in separate projects, you will need to re-build your project with both slideshows in the one project.

  • Iphoto slideshow - burn to DVD.

I am so frustrated - one of the reasons for buying iMac was to put photos into slideshow format.  I have a slideshow in iPhoto, hooked up with iTunes music.  It plays perfectly.
I have researched how to get from the iMac onto DVD.  I export the file as directed, and go into iDVD and burn a movie to disc (without using the iDVD capability as I do not want to make a new movie).
With about one minute left to run, the DVD is ejected but the pc thinks that it is still burning the movie.  The DVD has nothing on it at all.
I have tried several times and cannot believe it is this difficult to get a slideshow onto DVD.
Someone out there must have done this before!
    Appreciate any help.

go into iDVD and burn a movie to disc (without using the iDVD capability as I do not want to make a new movie).
That statement is a bit contradictory.  How can you burn a movie to disk in iDVD without using iDVD?
Do you mean no using iDVD's slideshow which you obtain via the "+" button at the bottom?
I'm assuming you end up with a QT movie of your slideshow in iDVD.  So, if that's the case do the following:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.
If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good and you can then burn to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • I have created an extensive slideshow w/music on my MacBook Pro iPhoto. How do I export a slideshow so that I can burn a DVD from it? "Help" does not offer info for this request, only if you want to export to another Apple device.   Help!!!

I have created a lengthy slideshow with music on my MacBook Pro under Iphoto.   What steps do I need to take in order to burn a DVD copy of this slideshow?     "Help" does not offer info for this transaction, only if you want to export to another Apple device and it shows that you must first export to Itunes.  Can anyone help me with information on just copying to a DVD?  I don't want to email it or show it on another Apple device.  I want to be able to burn multiple copies on DVDs as a gift......    Can it be done?   I'm not real computer savvy

Connect the device to the computer.
In iTunes, select the content desired to sync.
    Sync.
This is all described in the User's Guide, reading it may be a good place to start.

I've been using "Burn" for years and it has been the only DVD burning software I have ever used for the mac. I have never needed to look at other apps. Unless you want something that has more bells and whistles such as Roxio's "Toast" : http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/pro/overview.html
There are thousands of quality free apps out there for the mac that are not part of the App Store. All you have to do is read reviews online, do a little search, the Apple forums are full of recommendations from experienced users that have been here for years...

The issue with the A1400 is that like most economy compact cameras, they will not have very fast focus times in indoor lighting situations. Many people have gone to entry level DSLR's (Canon T3i) or micro 4/3 cameras. They are fairly expensive, but a late model refurbished T3i can sometimes be found with a kit lens for about $300.00. With Auto and scene modes, as well as full manual modes, these are very versatile cameras that focus very quickly, even in lower lighting situations. Canon is not really into the micro 4/3 cameras, instead they are focusing on the new G7x and G1x cameras, which are way out of your price range. The A720 is still available used at some places such as KEH camera, but you'll need to check often as their stock changes constantly. Obviously the DSLR's don't use AA batteries, but the T3i is good for about 600 photos (or more) per charge.
My refurbished DSLR was practically brand new condition when I got it. I could not find any sign of wear at all, so I feel they are a real bargain. These are rugged cameras that are made to last. The A1400 is a $99.00 camera, so it's not intended for heavy usage, plus the image quality of a DSLR (even entry level) is far better than the A1400. That would be my recommendation.

  • How to burn a slideshow to DVD for anyone to play. I burned a DVD and can play it on my mac, but will not open in windows

Need to know how to burn a DVD that can be viewed by any DVD player.  I created a DVD from a slideshow created in iPhoto.  I can open it on my computer, but it will not open or even be recognized in my home DVD player.  I asked a friend to try it on a Windows computer and he could not open it.  What's the key to creating things for friends & family that do not have Mac anything?

  • Getting multiple copies of iPhoto slideshow when I burn a dvd - why?

I just learned how to create a slideshow in iPhoto and struggled through the learning curve to be able to burn it as it appears in iPhoto. I got so excited today when I burned a dvd and it actually played on my TV's dvd player, though it was missing the iDVD theme intro. Then when my slideshow was over, the theme intro played and the entire slideshow played again. In other words, I have at least 2 copies of the slideshow on the disc.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? thanks!

    Hi
Most common origin to this are:
Brand of DVD used - NoName, Memorex etc cheap brands might work as Data-DVDs - BUT NOT as Video-DVDs
Type of DVD used - I only use SL-DVD-R as they also playback on older DVD-players. DVD+R for newer DVD-players. Never ever DVD+/-RW. Dual-Layers usually creates more problems than Single-Layers
BURN SPEED - Very IMPORTANT factor - I never go faster than x4 - Normally I use x2
Material used - Video Codec, Photo and Audio file formats
Video-Codec: StreamingDV, AIC and HDV (I use)
Photo: .jpg - NO .bmp or other - all converted to .jpg first
Audio: .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or 44.1kHz (as on Audio-CDs) - NO .mp3, wma etc ailient formats - all converted to ..aiff 16-bit 48kHz or 44.1kHz first
Free Space: on Start-Up (Macintosh HD) Hard Disk - I never go less than 25Gb when doing Video-DVDs (for SD-Quality Video - if HD material is used 4-5 times more are a safe low level) (Other external Hard Disks - DO NOT COUNT as space here can not be addressed by Mac OS or iDVD for it’s massive use of .temp files)
Dusty DVD-burner Laser: I use a Cleaning DVD (no liquid but the one with brushes) from time to time.
Harmed DVD-burner Laser: Easy to do by burning more than three DVDs at a time - I let it rest for 30 minutes till next batch of three DVDs. If this happened - then only a costly repair will help. It will not heal by it self.
OBS: There are more than one Laser in the DVD-Burner so other functions might work OK as Playback CD/DVDs and even burn CDs. Still being broken.

  • Burning an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD

How can I burn an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD?  I have created a slideshow with music but cannot determine how to burn it to a DVD.  I've tried to use iDVD but cannot figure it out.  I need very basic instructions, please.
    Thank you!

Depends on information you do not supply - but burn a slide show to DVD export it to the desktop as a QuickTime movie and the using the finder burn it to dial - it can be played on any device that can play QuickTime
To play on a DVD player it must be authored which requires iDVD or other authoring software like Toast - neither involves iPhoto - there is a iDVD forum and Toast has a support forum

  • How do i burn an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD?

how do I burn an iphoto slideshow onto a DVD? and a blueraycompatable DVD?

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
    Other options:
    Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
    Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate
As for Bluray you'll need an app (and a burner) that can create that format.

Ask in the iDVD forum on what's the best way out of iPhoto and into iDVD.  The resident expert there, Bengt Wärleby, can give you the best option.

  • Won't allow me to burn slideshow to a DVD

I have a MacBook Pro and I was creating a Slideshow on iDVD 7.1.1. When I burned the slideshow to the DVD it said there was an error to the end and brought me to this link.. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1645. I have the settings on Dual-Layer DVD because the slideshow is large. When I play the DVD on my DVD player, it will play and then stop at a random slide and won't move on any farther. I don''t know how to fix it or what is wrong.

Fotomagico which is now included with Roxio Toast apparently. Both work great at making slideshow presentstions.

You can try it free if you wish. Apparently they also offer a trial of the software but one must request a Demo License:
