LR windows interface vs mac

I did see claims that virtually there was no diff between these two. However, my entire windows TITLE BAR has changed, there is no minimize or close (x) button and it only shows if I point in that direciton. Does anybody know how to revert to the way windows look in WINDOWS. Also, is this documented anywhere?
Thanks in advance
Oliver

Thank you so much, appreciate, I wish I could figure out what the F stays for, maybe it would help me remember it

  • SWITCH FROM WINDOWS XP TO MAC OS X?????(UNDECIDED) ANYONE?????

    Hey anyone, im undecided if i should switch to mac, beacuse there are little service centers here in Mexico,
    is it easy to solve issues like in windows?
    What to do if my computer hangs up?
    Id like to see with you the poeple who already have a mac if you could write me a list of pros and vs's of swiching from an windows to a mac (XP PRO to OS X)
    Id really appreciate that, anyone who repplys, just send me an email to [email protected]
    with the title, "SWITCH" or reply to this topic.
    THANX

    Pros:
    1. More pleasant internet experience - pop up filtering much less painful.
    2. Virus attacks practically unknown of.
    3. Operating system (OS) interface is much more intuitive and I believe easier to navigate through.
    4. OS crashes/hangs less than once every 3 months in my experience. If it hangs up it usually is a program that needs updating and quitting the program leaving the rest of the system running. Extremely rare to have the system freeze up. Never saw a blue screen of death.
    5. Security is a big plus.
    6. internet Apple shopping and support is highly rated. My experience with service turnaround is much better than any PC company (I am thinking of my Sony experience that took 6 weeks for a simple CD burner power switch repair and Dell onsite repair with the tech breaking the laptop case and needing to send it in anyway with a 10 day turnaround). I needed a screen replacement from Apple that took 3 days door to door with overnight shipping under warranty.
    7. Multimedia experience has been great - iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, iDVD
    Cons:
    1. Some web sites are Explorer friendly only. Explorer has not been updated for OS X in years (which is probabley a pro since it is a mediocre browser). Firefox, Netscape, Safari, may not completely display everything properly.
    2.Some proprietary programs not available in OS X. Vast majority have OS X versions. May need to use a PC emulator to use the rare program. The emulators do not do games well.

  • Questions for deploying Windows on my Mac

    Hello,
    I have a bunch of questions and would appreciate advice as to my options availble.
    This is what I have to work with:
    MacBoook (OS X 10.5), 2.4Ghz with 4GB ram and 160GB hard drive
    Boot Camp
    VMware Fusion
    Windows Vista Ultimate
    Ideally I would like to set it up so that I can run Windows natively in Boot Camp (with all hardware resources going to Windows) OR run Windows in Fusion (with hardware resources split evenly but the ability to drag and drop between OS X and Vista) depending on my particular need at the time.
    Other questions in no particular order:
    1. 32bit vs 64bit Vista installation
    2. deployment of the two processor cores
    3. running Fusion in Boot Camp vs Fusion as a virtual disk
    4. which deployment would allow for running the Areo interface
    5. which deployment makes best use of Apple drivers for Windows
    Much thanks to those who have read this and more thanks to those who reply. I'm just trying to figure out the best course of action and could use the feedback.
    Martin

    1.) This will be more of what Applications support 64 bit than 32 bit. Whatever applications you need I would run that version. I also wouldn't run 64 bit in a VM, it would be too slow.
    2.) Not sure what you mean by that? If you think you get to dedicate 1 core to Windows and another to OS X, it doesn't work that way. If you do a VM, you can dedicate how much CPU speed you get but the process VMWare just gets time on the cores as any other program.
    3.) I'm not sure what you mean by this either. VMWare fusion doesn't work in bootcamp. Bootcamp just allows you to run Windows on the Mac hardware naively, that is it. Fusion can only be installed in OS X, and it will use a virtual disk to make the image. It will just look like a normal file in OS X.
    4.) Both should run it, you will get better performance in Bootcamp than Fusion since it is using the hardware natively and no emulation.
    5.) Bootcamp uses the apple drivers. In fusion you would be using the drivers from VMWare. They both work fine.
    If its a hardware intensive app, I'd go with bootcamp, if its just small stuff, VMWare fusion should be fine.

  • Windows XP for mac

    I purchased this very expensive Windows XP for mac program yet it runs slower than a turtle. I thought it would reslove my problem which is not being able to open certain files because the computer tells me it doesn't have an aplication to open this file. Is there anyone out there that has an answer for me. I am also trying to connect a wireless internet router for my new laptop but my mac won't read the software it came with. Please help me someone, anyone,I'm so frustrated!
      Mac OS X (10.0.x)

    I have a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz 54Mbps Broadband
    Router.
    That would be this model, or a different one?
    My computer keeps telling me it doesn't have
    an aplication to open the software that came with
    this thing.
    Do you have it running, in which case the lack of the ability to run any associated Windows software probably doesn't matter?
    As far as I can tell, the setup wizard for this device is Windows only, but it is possible to configure it manually via a web browser, such as Safari. However, if you want the Apple Discussion Forum members to help you with this you will need to supply the Forum with quite a lot of information. Maybe someone who actually has one of these routers can assist better.
    I get this message a lot especially when
    I download, lets say, an article from the internet,
    or a movie, or other items. 90% of the time I'm
    unable to open the files. Am I missing aplications
    that should be purchased separately? I apreciate any
    input from the experts. Thank you.
    Well, for a start, can you give some examples of the things that you can't open? Precise examples, preferably a URL to the thing in question. At the very least, tell us what the Windows extension (the .xxx at the end of a file name) is.
    Also, I see that you say you have Mac OS X 10.0.x, and you don't specify whay sort of Macintosh you have in your profile. Do you really have that, very first, version of Mac OS X, or are you running something more modern. It would also be very helpful if you said what sort of Mac you have, since then we know what features, interfaces, etc it has.

  • How do I change my iPod Touch from a Windows to a Mac?

    I recently bought a Mac, to replace my PC.  I have a 2nd generation iPod running the latest (4.3.3 I think).  I have transfered all my files from my Windows to my Mac through USB, and all the files are also sitting on my Mac.  However, when I insert my iPod to the Mac, it can't sync apps without erasing the data on my iPod.  How do I do it without erasing it?  I have it backed up on my Mac and PC.  I also have a brother with a 4th generation iPod.  I assume the soliution would be the same?  THanks!!

    Sorry didn't mean to make this the correct answer
    What do you mean?  This is what I get:
    "Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPod “Connor’s iPod Touch” will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library."

  • How can I just modify (from "Windows" version to "Mac") my purchased software?

    I've already purchased the Adobe Premiere Elements 13 in the wrong version: I need it for Mac and I've ordered the Windows version. How can I modify it?
    Thank you in advance,
    Jose Luís

    Thanks Ned, but the moment I bought it I did it wrong and when they offerded me to choose one version I picked up "Windows" instead of "Mac" by mistake... now I can't find the way to modify it.

  • If I use an SD card for both Windows 7 and Mac, is there any way to see the documents from the Mac sight while on the windows side?

    If I use an SD Card on both the windows 7 and Mac OS (using bootcamp), is there any way to see the data seen on the Mac OS side while using the Windows OS?

    Windows Aero style uses a different background image than Mac:
    Windows Aero:
    #nav-bar {
    background-image: linear-gradient(rgba(253,253,253,0.45), rgba(255,255,255,0));
    Mac:
    #nav-bar {
    background: url(chrome://browser/skin/Toolbar-background-noise.png),
    linear-gradient(hsl(0,0%,93%), hsl(0,0%,83%));
    I can't test hands on, but you might be able to clear that OSX "fog" using a rule such as:
    @namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);
    #nav-bar, #PersonalToolbar {
    background-image: none !important;
    background-color: transparent !important;
    This could be applied using the Stylish extension or by creating/editing a userChrome.css file.

  • How Do I transfer my .daa file to Windows bootcamp from mac bootcamp

    Hi, there is no way to open .daa files in mac. The only way is to do it trough windows, it wont let me transfer anything to the widows portion of my system, also on my enclosure's portion of windows. Is there any way to let me have privileages to drop off files in windows for the mac partition of my computer?

    Hi,
    I am supposing, that both of your Windows partitions use the NTFS file system, which OSX can only read but not write.
    The easiest way is to use an USB Memory Stick of appropriate size for file transfers.

  • Installing windows 7 on mac book pro late 2013

    Installing Windows 7 on Mac Book Pro Late 2013
    Background
    Mac Book Pro Late 2013 uses a USB 3.0 hub for the external ports, the keyboard and mouse devices.
    Windows 7 does not have the drivers to support USB 3.0 ports so these must be integrated into the boot.wim and install.win files so that Win7 can be installed and used on a Mac. If these drivers are not integrated when win7 is booted up then the mouse and keyboard will not function.
    Requirements:
    Two USB Flash drives
    Access to a Mac computer
    Bootcamp Assistant application
    Access to a Windows computer with windows 7 installed
    Windows 7 install disk or ISO file
    WinUSB application
    Windows Automated Installation Kit for Windows 7 (WAIK)
    Method
    On a Mac
    First prepare a USB Flash drive by formatting it using disk util app, found in Application Utility folder, to FAT format this will store the Apple drivers that can be downloaded from Apple using BootCamp.
    This will be called USB1
    Using Boot Camp Assistant select 'Download the latest windows support software from Apple'  to get the files from apple for win7 for your particular machine these will be downloaded and copied to the USB Flash drive called USB1.
    On a PC
    Using a PC download a copy of WinUSB from  www.joshcellsoftwares.com this software can create a bootable USB with the win 7 files copied on to it.
    Obtain a copy of Windows 7 either in DVD or ISO format.
    Using WinUSB and the Win7 DVD create a second bootable USB Flash drive. This will be called USB 2.
    About DISM
    DISM is a windows application that allows the editing of windows image files with the extension of WIM.
    If DISM is not installed on the PC it can be downloaded from windows website.
    To test to see if DISM is installed, open up a command prompt. Then type 'dism' without the quotes this will display the help description of DISM.
    Drivers
    The apple drivers need to be added to the boot.wim file so that mouse and keyboard can function during the setup phase.
    The apple drivers need to be added to the install.wim so that mouse and keyboard can function after the setup phase.
    The video drivers are also added as it appears to cause problems if they are not included.
    Create a directory structure like this:
    c:\appleboot\
    drvrs
    mount
    win7x64install
    win7x64boot
    Create the following files in c:\appleboot\ with the following code:
    adddrivers.cmd
    color 0a
    dism /image:c:\appleboot\mount /add-driver /driver:c:\appleboot\drvrs /recurse
    ================================================================================ ==========
    mountboot.wim.cmd
    color 0a
    dism /mount-wim /wimfile:c:\appleboot\boot.wim /index:2 /mountdir:c:\appleboot\mount
    ================================================================================ ==========
    mountinstall.wim.cmd
    color 0a
    dism /mount-wim /wimfile:c:\appleboot\install.wim /index:4 /mountdir:c:\appleboot\mount
    ================================================================================ ==========
    unmountcommitfiles.cmd
    color 0a
    dism /unmount-wim /mountdir:c:\appleboot\mount /commit
    ================================================================================ ==========
    Copy the following files into their respective directories:
    Copy from USB 1 into drvrs the $WinPEDriver$ directory
    Copy from USB 2 \sources\boot.wim to win7x64boot directory, this will store the original file
    Copy from USB 2 \sources\install.wim to win7x64install directory, this will store the original file
    Then copy boot.wim from win7x64boot directory to the c:\appleboot\ directory
    Then copy install.wim from win7x64install directory to the c:\appleboot\ directory
    Once all the copying is completed then run the following cmd files in this order:
    For boot.wim
    mountboot.wim.cmd - this will mount the file for adding of drivers
    adddrivers.cmd - this will add the apple drivers to the mounted boot.wim
    unmountcommitfiles.cmd – this will commit the changes and unmount the boot.wim
    For install.wim
    mountinstall.wim.cmd- this will mount the file for adding of drivers
    adddrivers.cmd - this will add the apple drivers to the mounted install.wim
    unmountcommitfiles.cmd – this will commit the changes and unmount the install.wim
    Copy the files back to USB 2
    Copy the boot.wim and install.wim files from c:\appleboot\ directory  to USB 2 sources directory and overwrite the files.
    BOOTABLE USB
    You will now have a bootable USB Flash Drive that has the additional drivers needed to install Win7 on Mac Book Pro Late 2013.
    Mac Preparation
    On your Mac using Disk Util reduce the size of the partition of Macintosh HD so that there is approx. 80GB free for the use of Win7.
    Add a second partition, label it win7 and format it to FAT. This is so that win 7 setup can identify the correct partition.
    Installing Windows 7
    Insert USB 2 into your Mac and reboot, whilst holding the option key down.
    After reboot there will be three icons displayed one is the Mac operating system, the second is the recovery partition and the third is an orange icon indicating a bootable USB drive.
    Select this and win7 setup application will proceed to boot up with the keyboard and mouse functioning.
    Follow the prompts and when the drive selection appears select the win7 partition and format it to NTFS so that win7 can be installed. When windows setup reboots press and hold down the option key and select the windows partition so that setup can continue to install.
    After completion of installation of win7 insert USB 1 with the additional apple drivers. Goto the bootcamp directory and click on setup.exe file this will install additional drivers needed to use Win7 on a Mac.
    Once completed reboot your Mac and select windows to allow the drivers to update in windows.

    Yes this is correct that the /index:4 refers to the ultimate version of windows in mountinstall.wim.cmd
    dism /mount-wim /wimfile:c:\appleboot\install.wim /index:4 /mountdir:c:\appleboot\mount
    Users should do what applekryzzle suggested if you have a different version of windows. Thanks for the tip applekryzzle.
    With regards to the Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller drivers they are the ones that are provided by apple via boot camp assistant.
    These appear to work correctly and downloading as per instructions simplifies the procedure.
    For those that are interesred the updated drivers can be found here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22824&ProdId=346 7&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20%20*&DownloadType=Drivers
    I have also seen in other discussions that some users get black screens i believe that it is the lack of video drivers which is included in the download from apple using boot camp assistant.
    I'm certain that this works on Mac Book Pro Late 2013 models and i feel confident that this will work with other models.
    I will appreciate any feedback if this works on other models.

    i shifted from a windows to a mac.. I want to add songs to my ipod tpuch 4th gen.. but if i try to sync with itunes it says my songs will be replaced by the new songs.. Is there any way that i can have my previous data safe??

    Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
    Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
    Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.
    iOS: How to back up
    Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.
    Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
    Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.
