LR1.4.1 opened with wrong filenames in catalogue - help

Opened a folder in a recent workfile to discover a random renaming of about a third of the files - when tried to rename them message was returned - missing or unwritable - and gives an erroneous path-
Library/Google/Google Updater/Google Updater.app/Contents/Framework/Versions/A/Resources/Reporter.app/Contents/PkgInfo
Why ?
And what can I do to restore their original filenames and the metadata for the altered images ?

Very helpful - I have highlighted each image in LR Library mode and clicked on the question mark in the thumbnail versions which has then asked me to locate the original. This is easy - but time consuming ! And restores the original .CR2 file with its sidecar.
I have discovered that somehow at least half of the images in this folder - ie all the renamed files - have been copied into other folders in the catalogue with weird folder names and a whole set of subfolders . . . ie
Contents at/Library/Google/Google Updater (etc). . . 227

if you open these folders sure enough you find the renamed image files with the question marks on each thumbnail !
Looks a bit buggy to me.

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:

Go to System Preferences - Accessibility - Voiceover - turn off Voiceover. The shortcut is command-F5, so possibly you pressed that accidentally.

When ever I go to windows help and select an online article it tries to open with one of my paint programs. I can view any help files that are "on my computer" but if it's elsewhere, I can not open it. Can anyone tell me where I can change

Word files opening with wrong application when attached

So here is a new one..
Whenever I open a word file that someone has sent me directly from the message in mail it opens with an application called note taker. Yet when in finder if I double click on a word file it opens in word. What gives and how do I change this?
I am really not happy with Leopard thus far....

Garageband exports file with wrong filename

I have been using garageband to export our church's podcasts for 3 years now.
But for the last two weeks the poscast filename ends up being the same file from 3 weeks ago.
I have a file that I use as a starter template.
I import the new audio and save it in a new folder for that month under the name of the sermon + the date.
When I export now the file name is not of the file that I saved but that of one I had created 3 weeks ago.
I then did a test and exported a new podcast not using the template and I get the same results.
Any thoughts...I guessed the GB forum the best to start with not sure it is GB or iTunes. I'm on a mac running the latest versions of OSX, GB, & iTunes.

Check your EAR if there are any libs from the adapter framework and delete them if necessary.
After deployment check in your visual administrator if your EAR is available.

Illustrator CS6 - error when open with wrong locale

Hey Everyone.
I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question...
I've the Master Collection oft Adobe CS6 for Windows in German. My Computers locale (german: "Gebietsschema") is set to japanese. If I try to open Illustrator I get an error, that I can't open it with this locale set. If I change the locale to "German (Switzerland)" it works.
Every other Adobe Program I tried out yet, has worked with the locale set to japanese...
Is there a way that I don't need to change my locale setting, when I want to use Illustrator CS6?
PS: I need the japanese locale to display japanese foldernames etc.

I downloaded the Adobe download Assistent with AI and I really thought I selected the english version. I then downloaded the AI, which somehow changed itself to the german version. Anyway the serial didn't work for the illustrator only, so I couldn't install it.
Maybe I'll reinstall the whole master collection, when I get my new SSD and Win8 in half a year or something.

I have just installed logic studio (upgrade) on my new mac.
For some reason it needs my logic 6 xs key to start up every time.
I have used it on my other macbook pro with no problems at all!
I have tried the directions given here;

Is it a 10.5 issue??? It has always worked on my older macbook pro with 10.4!

So if you have followed that article completely and it still doesn't work you may have an issue with your file system. Delete your current System ID and then use Disk Utility (Located in /Applications/Utilities) to Repair Permissions on your system volume and also use the Verify Disk feature as well to determine whether the volume needs repairing. For info on how to repair an OS X volume see here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
Once permissions are repaired and or volume verified/repaired try serializing Logic again.
Also if you did not, be sure that the software gets installed using the installation discs and not dragged over from another system. Also here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2375 is instructions on reinstalling Logic Pro if the above steps do not resolve your issue. See bottom of article.

Open with in Elements 12

I used to be able to right click on a photo and select open with/Elements 11 but in Elements 12 it will not open photo. Any hints on how to do this. I am not a fan with organizer and I would like to select a raw file and right click on the photo and open with elements 12. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you're looking far enough down the list? For some reason in PSE 12, the editor isn't under Adobe Photoshop Elements, but just Photoshop Elements:

How do you remove "file association entries". If I choose "Open With" in Finder, there's a bunch of stuff that's already been uninstalled. I also have disabled SmartSelect in Parallel Desktops, but winrar.exe.app and internetexplorer.exe.app are still there.. So how do I remove those from +Open With+?

Open terminal and paste this:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
then hit return, takes about 30 seconds or so, voilà! None of the utilities like Onyx, Xupport and the others that reset "LaunchServices" don't work on Leopard, this command will clean your "open with" submenu. Let us know.

When I am in the finder window and I double-click to activate "open with" it is replaced with N125. (Macbook Pro, 10.6.8)
