LR2.2 memory leak bug problems worse than LR2.1

When LR2.1 would lock up I could restart it and only lose my last few develop module changes. When LR2.2 locks up, and I restart it I lose all the changes I made during the session that locked up. I'm going back to LR2.1 until they figure this out.

I find 2.2 terrible.. Totally unusable. For example I import 5 raw images. Go to Develop and to a fill light and it runs out of memory and Vista shuts it down!!!. And this is Vista Home Premium SP1 with 4gb of memory. I am finding I get 2-10 minutes work at a time in betwen forced shutdowns of Lightroom. Almost useless!!!!
And I can't go back as I have a Canon 5D II which needs the 2.2 Raw Support. So I am praying for a quick fix.. Adobe should be ashamed of releasing the product in such a shoddy state!!!! I loved Lightroom 1 and foundeahc upgrade an improvement. But 2.1 was bad and 2.2 is just the most untable proffesionally released product I have ever had on my computer!!! Which is amazing..

  • What about the memory leak Bug in foreach tag

    Hi,
    does anybody knows if this bug is resolved already ?
    http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=25623.
    I see memory leaks in our application, and deeper check with YourKit profiler show that the objects retained in the jstl tags?
    Any help?

    Thanks for the info.
    The bug is in 'WONT FIX' status which is a shame.

  • Can't believe you didn't fixed this memory leak bug yet

    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-4812
    it's a major issue, why no one did a fix for it? Unbelievable..

    You need to be logged in to JIRA to vote.  (I don't remember if you can use your standard Adobe login on JIRA, or if you have to register separately.)
    But anyway, are you sure the issue is not fixed in the 10.2 release?  A comment near the bottom appears to indicate that the problem no longer occurs in 10.2.

  • Memory leak and problem with polymorh vi when calling vi from dll

    Two problems appear for me when using the setup below.
    First, I have a vi for opening a secondary vi:
    Then I have a vi for calling the opened, secondary vi:
    These two are compiled to a dll. The first one is called once, calling a function "open(char *)". The second one is called over and over, calling a function nextevent(double *, int). A simple example of an opened, secondary vi looks like this:
    The code used to send data looks approximately like this:
    dataout = malloc(dx->numelems * sizeof(double));
    datain = (COMPLEX *) dx->cont;
    for (i = 0; i < dx->numelems; ++i)
        dataout[cnt][i] = sqrt(datain[i].re * datain[i].re + datain[i].im * datain[i].im);
    nextevent(dataout, dx->numelems);
    free(dataout);
    This code is called in a loop. dataout is a double array to be sent to the secondary vi, datain is the source data.
    The problem now is that there is something eating up memory, and I fail to see why.
    My second question is this:
     I want to insert a Hamming window, or some other form of windowing function. It doesn't work however, and the help tells me it is because a vi opened this way cannot contain any polymorphic vi. Is there a convenient way around this problem?
    Lars Melander
    Uppsala Database Laboratory, Uppsala University

    Regarding your second question:
    As you say not possible to use a polymorphic vi in a DLL and in your case it is the windowing VI that is polymorphic. What you can do is to use only one instance of the windowing VI in the short cut menu.

  • JSTL Evaluation Memory Leak

    Hi, I have an application (on Glassfish 2.1.1) that seems like has one memory leak. I took a heap dump and i found an object (of class org.apache.taglibs.standard.lang.jstl.ELEvaluator) that consumes almost 900 Mb. The memory is allocated by the static field sCachedExpressionStrings. Viewing the documentation of apache taglibs, I found that this field is marked as static, and seems that the GC cannot liberate the space.
    I need help, because this problem is in production environment.
    Someone knows if some configuration exists for resolve this problem?
    Regards

    user5343236 wrote:
    I'm not entirely sure what usage causes it, but the same thing happened to us. I had a website that suffered from a heap growing by nearly 100MB per hour due to this. Looking at the heap dump revealed millions of ELEvaluator char[]s taking up all the space.
    This JSTL memory leak bug exists even in the glassfish.jstl_1.2.0.1.jar that is packaged with the current version of JDev (11.1.1.4.0). Note that the compile time on the classes inside the JAR are dated earlier than the posts on this bugzilla thread that actually talk about a fix: https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=31789
    The fix they talk about is still relevant relevant to JSTl 1.2 even though the discussion is based on 1.0.6, because the ELEvaluator and related classes didn't change much if at all. You can download the source for it and fix the problem based on the 31789.patch attached to that bugzilla report. Hope this helps others that stumble into the problem.Okay, you seem to have put a decent amount of investigation time into this; well done. Perhaps a new bug report is in order then? Although it doesn't seem that the people at Apache put too much development time into their Java APIs anymore.

  • Memory Leak in Adobe Premiere CC on Windows

    I installed Premiere CC on Windows 7 ( Intel Core i7-3770K [email protected] GHz, 16GB RAM). Software has a serious memory leak. After less than hour working on a very simple project (no rendering, no effects) memory usage  reached 15 GB, at which point Premiere stopped responding. After closing and reopening software memory usage again started to increase. I was testing it by just scrubbing over timeline, no editing, memory usage still slowly crept-up. I called Adobe technical support, they tried to tell me, that this is normal. Right! It is normal to be forced to close and reopen application every hour? I do not think so. I have Premiere CC also installed on my MAC Book Pro, checked memory usage on much bigger project, it was steady, not creeping up, using beween 1 and 2 GB.  I checked forums for this problem, there are several posts, but have not found any response from Adobe regarding this.
    Update:
    Tonight I continued working on same small project, within 2 hours I had to shut down Premiere 3 times. I also limited in setting memory Premier can use, that did not make any difference, usage by Premiere went to maximum - total 16 GB with about 2 GB taken by system and other stuff running. I am monitoring memory usage on resource monitor. Used Physical memory went 100 %, Commit Charge about 60%. This so far happened three times  in a row.

    Having said that, this is not a problem I see on any of the four Windows machines I work on.  And it's not a problem commonly reported here.  So my inclination is to suggest that something may be funky with your install.

  • Client-side Memory leak while executing PL/SQL and reading from a view

    Iam noticing memory leaks in OCCI while performing the following:
    Sample function()
    1. Obtain a connection
    2. Create a statement to execute a PL/SQL procedure
    3 Execute the statement created in step #2
    4. Terminate the statement created in step #2
    5. Create a statement to read from a view which was populated
    by executing stored procedure in step #3
    6. Execute the statement created in step #5
    7. Terminate the statement created in step #5
    8. Release the connection
    The PL/SQL populates a view with fixed 65,000 records for every execution. PL/SQL opens a cursor, loads 65000 records and populates the target view and closes the cursor at the end. If i invoke the above function it results in memory leak of 4M for every call. I tried several variants such as:
    1. Disabling statement caching
    2. Using setSQL instead of newly creating second SQL statement
    3. Obtaining two separate connections for these two activities (PL/SQL exec and View read)
    4. Breaking the sample function into two, one for each of these activities (PL/SQL exec and View read).
    All the combinations results in the same behaviour of 4M memory leak.
    Iam using Oracle 10g Client/Server 10.2.0.1.0.
    Is there any known limitations in this area?

    Yes. Iam closing the result set and terminating the statement.
    My program contains layers of inhouse wrapper classes, which will take some time for
    me to present it in pure OCCI calls, to be posted here for your understanding.
    After some more debugging, i found that if the connection level statement caching is set to
    0, the memory leak is much lower than before.
    Thanks.

  • Memory leaks in GC or something else on iOS

    Hello.
    I am making a game by Adobe AIR for iOS. My application has a memory leak bug with using only iOS.
    So, I have some questions.
    Why is it different using memory size of between Scout and Instruments VM Tracker (Dirty size) ?
    Why is the difference increased between Scout and VM Tracker?I think, AIR makes memory leaks on GC when iOS alerts a low memory warning.
    Can I catch GPU memory size ?
    Rendering mode is 'gpu'.
    I don't use Stage3D.
    I think it is 'IOKit' dirty size of VM Tracker. Its right?
    Scout gives no memory leaks. Instruments VM Tracker gives 50MB leaks for 20min.
    1min ago. 162MB
    20min ago. 162MB
    Instruments 220MB -> 272MB
    Scout overhead memory was about 1kB/min increasing.
    I am sorry I have no small code to reproduce.
    Environment:
    iPad mini iOS7.0.4
    AIR 3.9.0.1030

    Hi!
    I think the virus did modify or delete some system files so are not able to boot in safe mode, print documents and so far.
    Furthermore I must agree Raver. The best way would be to reinstall Windows with the recovery disk. This takes only few minutes but safe your data before. The HDD will be completely formatted.
    If have reinstalled Windows, you should first install all Service Packs and Hotfixes (visit the Windows update website).
    And dont forget to install a antivirus program like AntiVir (freeware).
    Bye

    In looking at Windows Task Manager I found that plugin-container.exe was taking over 100% of my CPU and my system was frozen. Is this a memory leak or other bug?

    Thank you! I have been having problems with Adobe Flash since downloading the new 11.1 version. I will download it again and reinstall it, hopefully that will correct the problem.

  • Bug:4705928 PLSQL: Memory leak using small varrays

    We have Oracle version 10.2.0.1.0
    We have a problem with a procedure.
    In our scenario we make use of VARRAY in the procedure to pass some filter parameters to a select distinct querying a view made on three tables.
    Unfotunately not always execution it is successful.
    Sometimes it returns wrong value (0 for the count parameter), sometimes (rarely) the server stops working.
    We suspect that this is caused by a bug fixed in versione 10.2.0.3.0
    Bug:4705928 PLSQL: Memory leak using small varrays when trimming the whole collection and inserting into it in a loop
    We suspect this becasue we made two procedure the first (spProductCount) uses a function (fnProductFilter) to calculate the values of a varray and passes them into the select,
    while in the second procedure (spProductCount2) parameters are passed directly into the statement without varray
    and there are failures only in the first procedure.
    On the other hand on another server 10.2.0.1.0 we never have this problem.
    The instance manifesting the bug runs under shared mode, while the other is under dedicated mode.
    Turning the first one to dedicated mode makes the bugs disapear.
    Unfortunately this is not a solution.
    In the sample there are the three table with all constraints, the view, tha varray custom type, the function and the two procedures.
    Is there someone that may examine our sample and tell us if the pl/sql code corresponds to the bug desciption.
    We also want to know if it's possibile that the same server running under different mode (SHARED/DEDICATED) doesn't behave the same way.

(Why 100 specifically?) Instead of

    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE array_params AS TABLE OF NVARCHAR2(1000);I don't know whether that will solve the problem but at least it'll be a slightly more useful type.
    What makes you think it's a memory leak specifically? Do you observe session PGA memory use going up more than it should?
    btw good luck with all those quoted column names. I wouldn't like to have to work with those, although they do make the forum more colourful.

  • Problem Report: Severe memory leak in Flash Player 9.0

    Summary
    Flash player 9.0 is prone to a severe memory leak when
    playing SWF files produced by Captivate 1 containing full-motion
    recordings.
    Versions affected
    The problem reproduces with Flash player 9.0 (Flash9.ocx,
    Version 9.0.16.0) hosted in either Internet Explorer 6.0 or Mozilla
    Firefox 1.5 on a Windows XP SP2 system.
    The problem does not reproduce with Flash player 8.0
    (Flash8.ocx, Version 8.0.22.0) in the same environment.
    Description
    After a few minutes playing a SWF file produced by Captivate
    1 containing a full-motion recording recorded with Captivate 1, the
    host browser ends up using more than a gigabyte of memory, and the
    playback of the movie slows down to a halt, together with
    responsiveness of the whole system.
    Impact
    Our organization develops E-learning content with Captivate 1
    for various customers, mostly Fortune 100 companies.
    This bug severely limits our ability to deliver content to
    our customers.
    Steps to reproduce
    1. Using Captivate 1.01.1418, create a “blank
    movie” with default settings.
    2. Use the “Record” button and begin recording a
    full-motion movie for about 2-4 minutes. For the purposes of this
    bug, it is enough to record a user typing random text in a Notepad
    window resized to fit in the default 800x600 window.
    3. After recording the full-motion movie, publish the
    Captivate movie as a “Flash (SWF)” movie, using default
    settings (making sure that the “export HTML” checkbox
    is selected).
    4. Open the published movie’s HTML file with a host
    browser, making sure that the browser is using the Flash 9.0
    player.
    5. While the movie is playing, watch the memory usage of the
    browser process using Windows Task Manager, and you will see that
    the values of the “Mem Usage” and “VM Size”
    counters keep increasing until the system becomes unusable.

  • [Bug?] X-Control Memory Leak with Large Data Array

    [LV2009]
    [Cross-posted to LAVA]
    I have found that if I pass a large data array (~4MB in this example) into an X-Control, it causes massive memory allocations (1 GB+).
    Is this a known issue?
    The X-Control in the video was created, then the Data.ctl was changed to 2D Array - it has not been edited in any other way.
    I also compare the allocations to that of a native 2D Array (which is only ~4MB).
    Note: I jiggled the Windows Task Manager about so that JING would update correctly, its a bit slow, but it essentially just keeps rolling up and doesn't stop.
    Demo code attached.

    Hi Jon (cool name)
    Thank you very much for your reply. We came to this conclusion in the cross post and it is good to have it confirmed by LabVIEW R&D. Your response is also similar to that of my AE which I got this morning as well - see below:
    Note: Your reference number is included in the Subject field of this

    reference number, or your message may be returned to you.
    Hi Jon,
    You probably found some information from the forum. The US engineer has gotten back and he said that unfortunately that's expected behaviour after they have conducted some tests and this is what he replied:
    "X Controls in the background use events structures. In particular the Data Change Event is called when the value of the XControl changes (writing to the terminal, local variable, or value change property). What is happening in this case is the XControl is getting called to fast with a large set of data that the event structure is queuing the events and data that a memory leak is produced. It is, unfortunately, expect behavior. The main work around for the customer in this case is not call the XControl as often. Another possibility is to use the Synchronous Display Property to defer updates to the Xcontrol, this might slow down a leak."
    He would also like to know if you can provide with more details how you are using the Xcontrol, perhaps there is a better way. Please refer to the link below for synchronous display. Thank you.

    In my application I updated the X-Control @ 1Hz and it allocated at MBs/s up to 1+GB before it crashed, all within a few hours. That is why I called it a leak. I am really worried that if this CAR gets killed, there will still be an issue lingering that makes using X-Controls a major problem under the above conditions. I have had to pull two sets of libraries from my code because of this - when they got replaced with native LabVIEW controls the leak when away (but I lost reuse and encapsulation etc...).
    Anyways, I really want to use X-Control tho (now and in the future) as I like all other aspect of them. If you do not consider this a leak, can a different #CAR be raised that may modify the existing behavior? I offer the suggestion (in the cross-post) that the data be ignored rather than queued? Similar to Christian's idea, but for X-Controls. Maybe as an option?
    I look forward to discussing this with you further.

  • How can I address a memory leak problem with Firefox?

    I have happily used Firefox for the past 7 years, and have rarely had difficulties. However, I am having some trouble now; Firefox (running 3.6.6) seems to have a memory leak on my machine. It's slower than what was discussed in other forum posts, but it still scales up slowly to multiple hundred MBs of Memory with very little CPU usage.
    I have tried disabling add-ons and extensions, but this does not stop the problem. I have cleared my cache and other stored data, but that also does not help. Has anyone experienced a similar problem that might be able to help?

    Hi reble0708,
    I have Java console disabled on my Firefox browser.Everything is working fine for me. There maybe other problem on your browser which is making PDF document faded and blurry. Can you post the link where you found the problem viewing the PDF document?
    Btw, you can go to ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ and select the previous version of Firefox from the given options. There's no need to uninstall Firefox before you downgrade to the previous version of it.But before new installation, backup your Firefox profile folder.

  • BUG:  Apex4/Anychart5 - memory leak?

    We are running into a pretty serious problem with resources. It seems that there is some kind of interaction between Apex and Anychart5 that is causing a pretty serious memory leak. For example, in one dashboard I am building, I have 9 charts on a page. When I click through a chart to a second page, I have three charts and an Interactive report.
    None of the sql is really all that complex. But I will include one of the queries singled out by one of our DBAs as being involved in consuming over 20 GB of data (values slightly modified for security). The query:
    SELECT CASE
    WHEN quarter = 'Q1'
    THEN
    '/pls/apex/f?p=108:3:1111111111111111::::P3_YEAR1,P3_YEAR2,P3_CLICK_VAL,P3_QUARTER:2009,2008,2009,1:'
    WHEN quarter = 'Q2'
    THEN
    '/pls/apex/f?p=108:3:1111111111111111::::P3_YEAR1,P3_YEAR2,P3_CLICK_VAL,P3_QUARTER:2009,2008,2009,2:'
    WHEN quarter = 'Q3'
    THEN
    '/pls/apex/f?p=108:3:1111111111111111::::P3_YEAR1,P3_YEAR2,P3_CLICK_VAL,P3_QUARTER:2009,2008,2009,3:'
    WHEN quarter = 'Q4'
    THEN
    '/pls/apex/f?p=108:3:1111111111111111::::P3_YEAR1,P3_YEAR2,P3_CLICK_VAL,P3_QUARTER:2009,2008,2009,4:'
    END
    link,
    quarter label,
    so_ext_price Sales_2009
    FROM ( SELECT SUM (v.so_ext_price) so_ext_price,
    ('Q' || TO_CHAR (v.cal_qtr_num)) quarter
    FROM owner.materialized_view_mv@db_link_name v
    WHERE v.cal_year = TO_CHAR (2009)
    AND v.account_number IN
    (SELECT *
    FROM TABLE(user_pkg.get_customer_numbers (
    'APP_USER',
    'USER_PROPERTY',
    'CUSTOMER_NAME'
    -- THE ABOVE SUBQUERY SELECTS FROM A PIPELINE FUNCTION TO RETURN A LIST OF STRINGS
    GROUP BY v.cal_qtr_num
    ORDER BY v.cal_qtr_num)
    As you would expect, this query returns 4 records reflecting sales by quarter. The query takes about four seconds to run. Explain plan cost is just under 14K. The pipeline function literally returns a single column of about six values using a simple select distinct where the parameters passed are filters in the where clause. The pipeline function returns in approximately 1 second. The largest result set it ever returns is six rows. The pipeline function is innocuous on its own but I am suspicious that it may be where we're running into issues. We weren't seeing these problems (or at least they weren't as noticeable) until we needed to use pipline functions. 'Don't use pipeline functions' is not an acceptable work around in our case. While I can figure out a way around it in the charts by returning SQL from a function, I cannot do so in the interactive reports.
    What our DBAs found is that the code pasted below is what was sucking down 22 GB of ram, then after clicking through to the second page the same code (for a different chart query) was consuming 17 GB of ram almost depleting our 48 GB of ram on our server in less than ten minutes. I disabled the chart running each 'offending' query and we had the same results with a different chart but the same underlying code below.
    I don't know where in Apex this lives but it's the killer. Can I get some feedback? Anyone else having similar issues?

    Thanks for looking at this post. We have resolved the issue for ourselves by working with our DBAs to narrow down where the problem actually started. We found that the particular SQL we were looking at was not the issue. In a chart on a subsequent page (via a click through), we were actually running into where apex was starting to consuming memory but we were catching it later.
    What we found was that when we had a chart query that was SQL containing a pipeline function, the memory usage went up. And within 10 minutes, the server would crawl to a halt. To release the memory, the DBAs would have to bounce the Apex instance. When I changed the query to be a function returning SQL, the problem stopped. I don't know what the correlation was between SQL and moving to a PL/SQL function returning SQL.
    I am not even 100% positive of the pipeline function being the cause. I only know that this started happening about the same time as when I implemented the pipeline function. I understand you are leery of a one-second function/query running up that kind of utilization. No one here believed me either (including me really). We figured it HAD to be a coincidence. But once I changed the query from SQL to a function returning PL/SQL, our problem went away.
    Thanks to all who looked at and thought about this.

  • Avoid Bug 7146375 ORA-4030 MEMORY LEAK IN (Xml generation) in oracle 10g

    Hi All,
    I have to generate an xml from database which contains around 4 lac records. I had written a query using XmlSerialize and XmlElement.
    It does run properly for records less than 2 lacs.
    But when the record count goes above 2 lacs..it is throwing the following error -
    { ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 1032 bytes (qmxlu subheap,qmemNextBuf:alloc)
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 111!}
    For the above error - I have tried increasing pga from 480M to 800M, but still we are getting the same error.
    After researching i found out -
    Cause
    This is caused by the following bug:
    Bug 7146375 ORA-4030 AND MEMORY LEAK IN SESSION HEAP: "KOH DUR HEAP D"
    Solution
    Bug 7146375 is fixed in 11.2
    So i tried out the query in another a db which has 11g installed and my query runs perfectly fine for records of upto 4 lacs.
    But since we have oracle 10g on our clients machine, are there other ways to achieve this XML generation other than this?
    Thanks.

If Oracle have investigated and created a bug report that says the solution is to upgrade to 11.2, then that's the answer, otherwise they would indicate that a particular 10g patch set can also be used.
