LR2.7 (64 bit) Crashes Windows 7 (64 bit)

Downloaded LR for evaluation.  I'm just about to remove it.  I can't keep it running long enough to do any real work.  I have read the other threads but those solutions don't help.  I'm not using a tablet, this is a brand new machine, I've checked the file/folder ownership issues, and the drivers are all up to date.  I am trying to use LR to process RAW files form a Nikon.  Most of the time the application terminates and Windows catches it.  Frequently though, Windows crashes as well (system freeze or the dreaded blue screen of death).

Try reinstalling this.

  • LabVIEW 8.6.1 Installation Builder Crashes Windows 7

Hello, my very helpful friends.  I have what I think to be a rather complicated issue and for which I've run out of ideas.  Recently, I had to go through the dreaded enterprise wide Windows 7 upgrade.  Upon completing that slog, I reinstalled LabVIEW 8.6.1 onto my machine by going to the distributions folder and installing each piece one at a time.  After completing this process, I opened a pre-existing project (stored on a separate server) which had some pending changes in a couple VIs which needed to be incorporated into the executable and installation builds.  The executable build worked without a hitch, but when I attempt to build the installation, I get most of the way through the build, but then it crashes Windows 7 via the blue screen once it gets to this point in the build:
This is at the part where the progress bar stops proceeding for a minute or so.  I've tried deleting the installation and executable builds from the pre-existing project and recreating them, but that didn't work.  I've also tried completely reconstructing the project from scratch to no benefit either.  I've been able to succesffuly build both executables and installers in other projects since upgrading to Windows 7 so it seems particular to what's going on in this project.  The only other bit of information I can think of which might be useful is that every now and then, building the installer only crashes LabVIEW and not full Windows 7.
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks in advance!
    Andrew

I never tried using this, but one of the options you could consider...

  • Boot camp crashes windows and corrupts personal data

When I try to use bootcamp to restart in OSX it normally crashes Windows and corrupts all the application settings - very annoying. Is there any other way to get it to restart in OSX without the data loss?

In another thread I created that is similar to this thread in that I wanted to find out how I can reclaim my missing 32GB after the first crash (the answer is run Disk Utilities from the Leopard instal DVD), a gentleman suggested that I do not have 32GB of contiguous space on the drive - the physical space on the drive by sector.
This makes total sense. Now I just have to figure out how to do an image of my system drive, reformat the drive, and restore that image to the drive. This makes me a bit nervous and I am not entirely sure on the step-by-step procedure as to how this is done.
Perhaps someone can offer a step-by-step guide?

  • BootCamp drivers crash Windows 7, slow startup, boot order?, backup drive

I have 3 issues that may be related or possibly not related to each other. I use an iMac (currently with Leopard 10.5.8 on a completely clean installation of both Leopard and Windows 7 on a freshly formatted and partitioned drive).
    Issues:
    1. Before reformatting and installing Leopard and Windows 7, I tried to install Snow Leopard and then Snow Leopard Bootcamp drivers into Windows 7. This crashed Windows 7.
    2. Slow startup of Windows 7 - Drivers needed?
    3. Firewire backup drive never re-mounts after using WIndows and then going back to OS X.
    *Details of issues*:
In the past, before I completely re-installed Leopard 10.5.8 with a new Windows 7, with this same pair of operating systems, I always had a slow startup of Windows 7 on Boot Camp. Sometimes this would take up to 6 minutes to completely open Windows 7. The "Starting Windows" message would appear usually soon, but it would tale a very long time before the Windows logo Flag would appear. The slow startup still continues, even after a complete reinstallation of these on a freshly re-formatted and re-partitioned hard drive (This re-installation was done for reasons shown below).
For a long while I have thought that because I had never installed any BootCamp drivers into Windows 7, then it might start better if I were to install the BootCamp drivers from an installation disk. Thus when I the other day briefly upgraded to Snow Leopard, this time I went ahead while operating under Windows 7 to install into my already existing Windows 7 the set of Boot Camp drivers from the Snow Leopard installation disk. The installation seemed to go well, but it then hung up and never continued when it tried to install the Intel chipset driver. An an hour had passed with no further progress. Thus I force-shutdown the computer, and Windows then never opened until I restarted under safe mode. After that when I would restart Windows 7 "normally", I found also that the Apple wireless keyboard under BootCamp no longer was recognized. The "normal" slow booting of Windows 7 still remained.
Because of I was not sure just what all might have been messed up, and because I am waiting for new versions of several programs that I use to be made as versions compatible with Snow Leopard, I reformatted the complete drive (Both partitions were merged into 1), and then I reinstalled Leopard on a freshly prepared drive, followed by newly installing Windows 7 on a new BootCamp partition. Both systems were fresh installs on a freshly prepared drive and partitions. These were not from clones of the previous installations. This time I did not try to install any drivers from the Leopard disk. The slow booting of Windows 7 continues.
Things I have suspected might cause the slow booting:
    1. Boot order of the Windows partition may be set to look for a CD-ROM before booting from the Windows 7 on the BootCamp Partition. To solve this, I have tried to open the BIOS on startup of Windows 7 in order to set the boot order. I am not sure which function key to press, but in trying several, I have gotten a DOS screen that shows Windows 7 as an option, but nothing else. When I select "Advanced", I get a list that includes "Safe Mode", "Boot Logging", and other items, but not anything for boot order.
    2. The drivers for BootCamp might not yet be made for Windows 7, and I need to wait until these are so that these can be installed. After such, then maybe the slow startup might be fixed?
    3. Possibly my Firewire backup drive interferes (permanently?) with the Windows startup process, because after I use Windows and then go back to OS X, the backup drive (Maxtor OneTouch III firewire drive) will not load on the MacIntosh desktop until I unplug the firewire from both the computer and the Maxtor drive and unplug the power cable to the backup drive, followed by replugging all of this in. (Note: The backup drive is formatted for Macintosh and is never seen as a drive in "My Computer" or in "Network Places" when I operate Windows 7).
Are you able to help/ Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Wilson

    Extra comments;
I also tried the following, which did not fix the startup (*Once up, Windows works well!*):
    1. Checked for file and disk errors (ckdsk?? on startup).
    2. Purged temporary internet and other temporary files (using internet options and disk cleanup utilities)
    3. Cleared out Prefetch files.
    4. Emptied trash.
    5. Under "msconfig", I found 4 items there as startup items. I disabled Adobe Reader and Quicktime helpers, leaving only thus 2 startup items of the 4 enabled (Bulldog and some Microsoft thing).
    6. Defragmented.
    No better results.
    Sincerely,
    Wilson

  • Acrobat 9 crashes Windows XP

I've used Acrobat 9 for a few years with no problem.  But recently, reading a standalone PDF file crashes Windows XP.  If I try to create a PDF file, Windows XP crashes.  If I try to uninstall Acrobat 9, XP crashes.  But...I can view PDF files in Internet Explorer and everything is fine.
Anti-virus software tells me everything is fine.  Does anyone have an idea why the simple task of even viewing a PDF file will cause Windows XP to crash?
All other software appears to be working normally, so this is really confusing, not to mention frustrating.

If the above does not apply then you can re-create the Acrobat preferences file to eliminate problems caused by a damaged preferences file.  However, you may want to test whether it is the preference file that is causing the problem.  To do this, create a temporary user account on your XP and then try using the Acrobat.  If it works normally then you know it is the preference file that is a problem. Now try these steps in your old account that is problematic:
Note: Re-creating the Acrobat preferences files restores settings to their defaults.
    1. Quit Acrobat.
    2. Rename (by inserting - old) the following files in the Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences folder:
    *Acrobat WebCapture Cookies
    *Com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro_ppc_9.0.plist or com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro_x86_9.0.plist
*Acrobat Distiller Prefs and com.adobe.distiller8.plist (If you are troubleshooting an issue with Distiller.)
*The Acrobat folder, which contains preferences for forms (MRUFormsList), collaboration (OfflineDocs), and color settings (AcrobatColor Settings.csf)
    3.Restart Acrobat.
If the problem recurs after you re-create the Acrobat preferences files, then the problem isn't related to preference files. You can rename the old files to what they were before after deleting the new files created by the system.  this step is optional because the new files are likely to be better than old one anyway IMHO.
    Hope this helps.

  • Labview logging program crash windows after 2 days

I am using Labview 8.0, and running the executable the program. What this program does is that it acquires data and then writes to hard drive. Each set of data is small but it writes also every second. It will create a new file every day so the file does not get too big.
After 2~3 days running, it crash windows. I think it somehow used up all the resource so the windows would not even response any more. And we need to run this program continually for at least one month.
So is this a memory leak problem of the executable program generated by Labview app builder? or could that be Labview does not release memory after it writes data to the file, and eventually used up the resource?
    any suggestions?
    Thanks

It is on a laptop with win xp, 1GB Ram. each data is only 40~50 bytes. The concatenate strings does not duplicate in memory, right? what about build path and open file?  Do I need to close the file inside the loop? It is a very small program so I attached a screen capture here.
I am going to let it restart again and check memory usage tomorrow.
    Thanks,

  • Ipod touch crashing Windows

My iPod Touch after updating to 2.0 when i plugged it in crashed Windows. After a few days of searching for other people with this problem i found a post on here from someone with the same problem. When I saw that I thought oh great other people have this problem too I'll just take to the Apple store and replace it. I was planning on going this weekend (July 19th). But tonight I fixed it all you have to do is put it in Forced recovery mode.First You Open iTunes. Then, you get ready to push and hold the sleep/wake and home buttons and plug the USB cable in. As soon as you plug it in you press and hold both buttons. now just wait for it to start. Hope this Helps.

We successfully connected to another Windows 7 laptop without a crash occuring, unfortunately we haven't been able to test it on a computer that had iTunes installed.
But the iPod has been working on other computers in the past, so I'm assuming it's an issue with the laptop.

  • ITunes update crashed windows, no bootable hard drive

When I went to shut down my computer last night, there was an iTunes update.  I clicked ok, then put the computer on the table.  Next thing I know, I get the dreaded blue screen with a bunch of characters, saying, I think, Windows has encountered an error.  It tried to re-boot, but said that there was no bootable drive.  Naturally, I panicked.  Ran the entire Pre-boot check, everything passed.  Tried to re-boot, same thing happened.  Frustrated, I turned my machine off, then back on and everything appears to be ok.  However, I'm afraid to try the update again.  Any suggestions?

I believe you boot your windows and update immediately will help.  Sometimes when windows run for a period of time, the system is unstable. Then when you install something, it may crash windows.  So anytime install a software, reboot windows first to ensure system clean.

  • Flash crashes Windows 7 Pro 64 bit IE11. Lenovo X301 laptop with Intel Graphics. Confirmed it happen

My company has several Lenovo X301 laptops with Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) running IE11. I load clean versions of Flash onto these laptops (latest version 12.0.0.77) and every single one of these laptops crashes when opening IE11.
One thing I noticed when I used the help.adobe.com site. Using IE11, the box which "dynamically displays the following information" shows the correct version of Flash player and OS but the browser says "None". If I run Chrome, it says the correct Flash version but the OS says "Windows 7 (32 bit) and the browser correctly says "Google Chrome".
The crash report for IE11, module name is Flash32_12_0_0_77.ocx.
    1. Why is the program unable to determine the correct browser?
    2. Why does it appear that a 64 bit program is trying to use a 32 bit plug-in?
    Any ideas?

    1. "User-Agent Strings"
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.Microsoft has no immediate plans to "fix" the mess they've created.
    2. Chrome is a 32 bit browser, and will identify as such, including the plug-ins in it.
IE uses the plug-in from the SyWOW64 folder (WOW=Windows On WIndows - which runs 32 bit apps in the 64 bit environment)

    Appreciate your help.

No, that might put all your music in a different folder. Making a new library was just a test, to see if it was a problem with the itunes database file.
That new test library probably got named iTunes1...you can just delete that after you close itunes.
You can recreate your library using these steps. It should get back everything except Date Added.
