LR3.6 support for Canon 5D, Mark III

Does LR 3.6 support the new Canon 5D Mark III camera?  LR4 should.  I don't care if the camera metadata is in LR or not.  I just want to process the Mark III images in LR3.6.  Can't upgrade to LR 4 because it is only 64 bit.

Jimmy,
LR3.6 does not support the 5DMkIII raw format. You can download and use Adobe DNG Converter 7.1 to convert your 5D MkIII raw files to DNG and then import the DNGs into LR3.6.

I need to get raw plugin for Canon 5D Mark iii for CS6  the adobe website has changed and I can not find the download.. it keeps looping me back to the product download page without the raw

Which operating system are you using?
Have you tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get either camera raw 8.3 or 8.7.1, which should enable photoshop cs6 to open the canon 5D Mark III files.
(version of camera raw depends on your operating system)
If that doesn't work try one of the following camera raw plugin installers:
    Camera raw 8.7.1 plugin
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html
If you have windows xp or vista or mac os x snow leopard (10.6.8), then you'll have to use the camera raw 8.3 plugin installer:

  • Problem with ACR 7 support of Canon 5D Mark III

Just purchased LR4 with ACR7 (upgrade from LR3.6 - not happy about that either, but I am mostly over it) and tried to import photos from my Canon 5D Mark III.  Import feature sees all the .CR2 files but when I try to import them it complains that it does not recognize that file format.  Not happy.

Unfortunately two important cameras, the Canon 5D.3 and the Nikon D800, came out during the transition between LR3/4 and PS-CS5/6 so Adobe released beta versions of LR and ACR to help tide people over, but what gets released when is kindof messy during the transition.
A major version release requires debugging and testing so the functionality, including new camera support, must be frozen earlier as compared to mid-version camera-support releases that have minimal coding changes.  ACR7-beta functionality was frozen back in February so has even less camera support than ACR6.7 beta, which confused PS-CS6-beta users as well.
Just so you’re aware, there is a bug when doing extreme adjustments in the new toning model and geometric lens-corrections have been applied, so be careful with that in the new LR4.1 RC2.   Eric Chan has said the bug will be fixed in the release version of LR 4.1.  The same bugs exist in the final ACR 6.7 that came out within the last week, so it is unclear what the status of a bugfix is for PS-CS5 users.
Here is a forum post with more information.  Also check out the other threads people refer to with other examples of the bug:

  • Camera Raw update for Canon 5D Mark III

Where is the camera raw update for the new Canon 5D Mark III?

It doesn't appear that it is available yet.  You will want to utilize Canon's software for now.  I would recommend continuing to review http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html as it has a list of all supported and soon to be supported cameras with Camera RAW.

  • Tethering for Canon 1D mark III

    Hello,
Is there any chance, that we will get the Tethering Function in Aperture for the Canon 1D mark III series added during one of the next Aperture updates, soon?
    Regards,
    JO

There haven't been any announcements by Apple so who knows.
The issue isn't a trivial one, though -- the "standard" tethering protocol used by Aperture for tethering to older cameras does not exist on Canon's newest cameras. So Apple would have to do a lot of work specific to the 1D* Mark III cameras to support tethering.
I'd love to see it personally (I can tether with my 1D Mark II, but not my 1Ds Mark III), but don't know if/when it will happen.
Definitely submit feedback via Aperture. The more the merrier!

  • Photoshop Elements Plug-in for Canon 5D Mark III

I just got a new Canon 5D Mark III camera.  I can not open RAW files in Photoshop Elements 7.  I previously had a nikon D200 and was able to read RAW files after I downloaded plugin.  What plugin do I need to download for the Canon.  Can't seem to find one.

Update to PSE12 or use Canon DPP that came with your camera disk. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

    Hi Friends,
I am editing on my lap top for the first time since buying the Canon 5D Mark 3. My Photoshop (5.5) does not recognize the

The 5D Mark III was also supported in Camera Raw 6.7

    which is compatible with CS5
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In CS5 click Help > Updates should install Camera Raw 6.7.

  • Lost camera raw support for canon 1ds markI in mountain lion

I seem to have lost system support for camera raw files for the original Canon 1ds (what you might call the markI). There's been two recent raw support updates, and I'm not sure if it occured with the first for those two updates or with update to Mountain Lion itself (which I recently clean-installed). I noticed it after the first raw support update (Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.01) but it could have happend with Mountain Lion install and I just didn't notice. In any case, I definitely don't have support for the camera raw files, finder shows only the generic TIFF icon thumnail (the raw files from the markI 1ds were of the extension .TIF, before canon moved on to .cr2 format..). Preview and Aperture can preview the file but without any custom white balance or other info stored with the raw file from camera.
Anybody else experience this or know fix?
    Thanks!
For anyone wanting and willing to test on their machine, I'll post a link to a test raw file.... hmm, apparently this support forum does not allow for the linclusion of a link to an image file, but I'll see if it allows for a link to a zipped folder with image inside... I suppose I wouldn't download a .zip file myself but for anyone braver than I:
    http://laglj.com/2012hirez/1dsTestFile.zip
    Thanks,
    Lane
    laglj.com

    Lane,
That latest raw update also shows supported devices. The EOS-1Ds is still shown as supported by Mountain Lion in the knowledge base article that accompanies it. Bump!
I wonder if using Disk Utility and verify/fix permissions may restore your RAW capability.
    Don't have Aperture or Lightroom.
I installed the recent raw updates into 10.8.2. The DB5W2360.TIF file has a generic Preview icon. Graphic Converter 8.3.1 opens .cr2 files, and it opened this TIF file nicely as well. GC is willing to modify white balance with a condition that it cannot be done in place, and must be exported to a different format.
    Not much help, I know.

  • Will Lightroom 4 get updated with support for Canon 7D Mark II Raw Files?

I received an update for Photoshop to support Canon 7D Mark II raw files (ACR 8.7), will Lightroom 4.4 get an update to support these files?

I don't know why you feel it makes things more complex. All you need to do is use the DNG converter as your download software. The conversion takes place during the download, and then you can import directly into Lightroom. I'm not trying to sell you on using DNG. But it isn't as cumbersome as it seems.
Since Lightroom doesn't utilize the Camera Raw plug-in, it makes it more difficult to provide updates. In Lightroom update means distributing a whole new Lightroom program.

  • Camera RAW Support for Canon 7D Mark II

    Hi,
I've just purchased the Canon 7D Mark II, connected it to my PC, but then found that Adobe Camera RAW doesn't support it yet. Any updates when this camera might be possibly supported?

Would it really do any good for Adobe to communicate an official release date? If they didn't meet that date then you would just call Adobe a liar. Adobe has users from several different companies waiting for support. And whether you believe it or not, there is no providing of specs from camera makers. They don't care whether Adobe Camera Raw supports the camera. Adobe is just another company to them. Adobe has to purchase each camera and then create the profiles for it. The real solution? Camera makers, agree on a common file format. If you won't do that, then YOU take the blame for this delay that happens about four times every year.
Actually, it would help, Jim. It does not have to be exact... it would help to know "this quarter" or "by the end of the year" or "mid-December". It would help because I could decide whether to find a workaround patch, or switch to a different system.
The camera makers are more than willing to provide that info, but according to a contact at Canon USA, in 2008 Adobe changed the game and decided to be more proprietary with their compatibility, presumably so that people would be required to upgrade their software every year just to be able to use new camera technology. It was Adobe's decision, and they could easily decide to play nice. But it is an unfair characterization to say that the camera makers don't care if Adobe supports their camera. That is just a silly assertion.
It comes down to he said - she said, and the two companies are simply pointing fingers at each other. Neither you nor I know the absolute truth about who is right... I only know that I am dissatisfied with Adobe's lack of communication, and slow response when compared to other companies, larger and smaller.

  • Macro lens for Canon 5D Mark iii

I'm taking a Class with NYIP and need to submit a macro photo. Not sure I really want to get into macro so I was hoping for suggestions on cheaper a lens or tubes. Any suggestions?

How much magnification do you need for this project?
Buying a set of extension tubes will cost you less than $100 and allow you to get 1:1 Macro magnification with almost any lens you have now.
Another cheap option is to use a reversing filter ring to mount a 50mm lens backwards onto to any lens you have now.
The cheapest option of all is to just hold the lens backwards against the camera body. I just took this photo of a pencil holding an EF 50mm 1.8 up against the camera body.

  • CS5 Camera Raw for Canon 5D Mark III

I just downloaded CS5, but the Adobe Camera Raw does not appear to be available. I attempted to download ACR 6.7, but the download does not work. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to be able to work with Camera Raw?

Perhaps post this question in the Photoshop forum?!!

  • Any idea when Lightroom 4 will have support for the new Canon 5D Mark III?

I have a new Canon 5D Mark III.  When can we expect support for this camera in Lightroom 4?

It's already in the DNG converter that's posted along with ACR 6.7 Beta.  That indicates probably the next version.

  • Canon 5D Mark III Raw Files Not Viewable in Finder for Snow Leopard 10.6.8

    System specs:
Computer: Mid 2008 Mac Pro - Dual Quad Core
OS: OS X 10.6.8 (includes the most recent Digital Camera Raw Updates)
    Camera: Canon 5D Mark III
    Problem:
Finder can not preview the thumbnails from this camera.  While not that big of a deal (I can use Lightroom, Bridge, etc to view these) it is a bit of an annoyance when transfering files around from one volume to another.
According to this Apple support page -   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US   -  I may need to update iPhoto, in order for the Digital Camera Raw Updates to work (specifically 3.12 from last year that addressd the 5D3's raw files).
As a pro photographer, I have ZERO use for iPhoto.  But, I would be willing to spend the $15 for the newest version of iPhoto, if I knew that would solve the Finder thumbnail problem.
I would love a definitive answer, without having to call Apple and paying the "per-incident support fee."

I manually installed the latest RAW update (3.13 I think - for 10.6.8) .... worked for me.
    (auto-update didn't do **** about raw update)
    now aperture and os-x (10.6.8) show the 5dmk3 raw's.
