LR3 B2 issue: brown photos

Hey there!
I have an iussue in LR3 B2: On screen, all photos are brown(ish). For example  when I convert color image to B&W, I get brown and white. Even histrogram is showing brown color. Export works just fine, thoug.
Thnx for helping me out.

If your histogram is showing a tint, this is caused by a corrupt monitor profile (or very occasionally a faulty graphics card). Re build you monitor profile with a hardware calibration tool. If you don't have a calibration tool then a temporary fix (this doesn't fix your colour correctly, only calibration can do that) is to set your colour management to use sRGB as the monitor profile.

  • LR3 import issues (vs LR2)

I have two issues with the "improved" import procedure of LR3.  Can anyone point out my oversights or give me workarounds?
    1) I accumulate many days work on a memory card, downloading only the current day's shots at the end of the day.  In LR2 the import process gave me the dates represented on the card first, letting me uncheck all and check only "today" before downloading thumbnails for me to review.  In LR3 all thumbnails on the card are loaded before I can narrow down to the "today's" shots I want.  And then selecting for todays date is not a one check process.  On the average, this is a MUCH slower process for my workflow.
    2) I shoot RAW+jpg without flash, jpg only with flash.  When the RAW file exists I don't want to spend time weeding out the jpg from the import process (by downloading thumbnails and unchecking boxes).  In LR2 there is a setting which tells the import process to ignore jpgs paired with RAW files and they disappear automatically.  I can't find this in LR2.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You are right that if the option to "Treat JPEG files next to RAW files as separate photos" is unchecked, the JPEGs will not be imported into a LR3 catalog as separate photos.  However, they arecopied to the hard drive as separate .jpg files and are treated as a sidecar files in the LR3 catalog.  One sign of this is the ".dng+JPEG" extension which shows in the catalog filename.  So with the box checked I must weed extra JPEGs out by unchecking their thumbnail in the Content area of the Import screen.  With the box unchecked I must delete the unwanted JPEG sidecar files after importing.  Either way is inconvenient compared with LR2 where I could edict that the JPEGs just be ignored altogether.
To anticipate someone's suggestion that I stop the extra jpgs from being recorded by my cameras, there are enough occasions when having a camera-processed jpg as an immediate and temporary product is useful that I don't want to do that.  Still once I've begun importing in LR, the jpegs are superfluous.

  • Duplication Issues with Photo Sync via iTunes/iPhoto and Photo Stream/iCloud (Detailed Scenario Given)

    Hi Everyone,
I'd like to share an issue I am having with photo syncing between my iDevices.
Here is how I USED to sync my Photos between my iDevices (no issues with photo duplication)
Note: In this scenario, I use iTunes and iPhoto on my Mac. iCloud and Photo stream have NOT been activated in this case.
    1. Take photos via iPhone that saves in Camera Roll
    2. After a month or so, I will connect my iPhone to my Mac.
    3. Import my Photos in iPhoto and arrange  Events and Photos in monthly sections and add some of them in a separate Albums (ex. Written Notes Photos) for easy access.
    4. Once the import is done, iPhoto prompts an option to delete photos in my Camera Roll which I do as I like to start a fresh month with empty Camera Roll in my iPhone.
    5. In order to access the Photos I have imported in iPhoto in my iPhone, I go to iTunes and sync all my photos to my iPhone. This syncs my events, photos, faces, albums as they have been arranged in iPhoto in my Mac. (I cant delete them in my iPhone once they are synced. I have to delete in my iPhoto and sync again to have similar setup in my iPhone which isn't a problem).
NOW I decided I don't want to manually go through all this process and went on to enable the Photo Stream ON in my iPhone and iPhoto with iCloud.
THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM ENSUES.
    1. I  Take photos with my iPhone that saves in Camera Roll
    2. This automatically syncs with my Mac due to Photo Stream which a really convenient.
    3. It syncs automatically to Photo Stream, Events, Photos, Faces section in the iPhoto and I put put some of them (notes) in a separate album.
    THE PROBLEM:
The Photos does not show up in the Album, Events and Photos Folder in my iPhone. They are only shown in Camera Roll. So I thought to sync using iTunes so the new Photos will be arranged in their appropriate folder like it used to with my prior process of syncing. This worked, HOWEVER the photos in my iPhone started showing DUPLICATES! Apparently, one comes from Photo Stream (which, if I delete on my phone also deletes in all my iDevices) and the other duplicate is from the iTunes sync (this sets up my photos as arranged in iPhoto which is what i WANT to happen as Photo Stream does not sync them accordingly).
SOLUTION I AM IN SEARCH FOR:
I want to be able to take photos with my iPhone that automatically syncs in iCloud AND iPHOTO AS ARRANGED IN MY MAC (Albums, Events etc) WITHOUT PROBLEM OF PHOTO DUPLICATES.

Other folks have resolved similar issues by trashing  the iPod Photo Cache.

  • New upload issue - bad photo rotation on homepage upload

When I upload my homepage from iPhoto 5.02 to Homepage, some (but not all) the photos that I had rotated to portrait format have reverted to their original landscape format - so they are displayed sideways. They are all on the correct orientation in the page that iPhoto displays as you compose - it must be a problem somewhere in the upload.
Can anyone offer any help? Am I missing something? Or is this a new glitch in the upload process?
    Paul G,
    Tasmania

Further to this - a bit of perusal of the discussions under the searches "photo rotation" and "photo orientation" show a varying bunch of problems relating to differences of photo orientation between the full-size and the original. (I have checked, and my photos that Homepage is displaying wrongly also display wrongly within iPhoto in edit mode). They all seem to crop up in May - none before, with one exception; issues of photo rotation when syncing to iPod Photo, which crop up from Feb/March.
So my guess is that there was a fix for the iPod sync problem, that has thrown everything else out. Homepage uploads, slideshows, possibly photo-albums, export to iDVD - all the things that work off the (incorrectly oriented) full-size, rather than the correctly oriented thumbnail. (I expect the preview of Homepage works from the thumbnail, whereas the actually uploaded page is processed from the full-sized image).
Another factor might be that all (?) that specify their camera are using Canon, models that automatically embed camera orientation. They note that iPhoto used to orient the photos automatically on import, but now they need to manually rotate. Could just mean a lot of Apple users choose Canon though...
I've reported it as a bug, so I guess we just wait for 5.0.3. In the meantime, faulty homepages are an unfortunate public advertisement of an embarrassing Apple iGlitch.

  • Jabber for Windows / iPhone - issue with photo and search

    Dear community,
I have an issue regarding Cisco Jabber for Windows as well as iPhone & iPad.
I recently upgraded our Call Manager infrastructure from 8.6.5 to 10.0. Along with that, I wanted to rollout the new Jabber for Windows (9.7.2) because now we use a very old version (9.2.1).
After I upgraded my test client, I noticed that the user photos (which are retrieved from active directory) were gone.
So for the first time, I decided to modify the the jabber-config.xml (I attatched the two different versions).
I used the jabber config generator to create the new version: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/106926/jabber-config-file-generator
My attempt is to achive these goals:
    1) I want one config file which is working with Jabber for Windows, iPhone & iPad, Android as well as Jabber for Mac
    2) I want a secure connection from the client to our directory server
    3) I want to retrieve the user photos from the active directory user (attribute thumbnailPhoto)
    4) Jabber should find only users which are a member of the active directory group "example" (example is a nested group which contains several users and at least _one_ other group). Until now, the whole active directory was searched for users/contacts.
So far, 1) and 2) seems to work fine. 3) and 4) are the troublemakers and I really don't no why.
    Can somebody help me?
    Best regards,
    René

Look at this thread. You can find the answer there.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12241391/ldap-contacts-and-photos-jabber-ipad-iphone-and-android-not-working
First I had to uncheck "Use UDS for Contact Resolution" and then I had to create a new jabber-config.xml and upload it to the TFTP server.
But there are a few limitations you have to deal with. But I have mentioned that in the other thread.

  • Issue with photos in iMovie - looks normal in timeline but won't play

I'm having an issue with importing photos into iMovie. I've done it many a time without trouble but suddenly, when I really need it...ahh!
The problem is with a video I've already exported once—I'm not sure if that's related. I created a slide in Powerpoint, made it into a jpg, then dragged it into my timeline (also something I've done before without issue). It looks totally normal in the timeline, but when I play the video it shows a still from the previous clip instead of my photo. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

Gah. This is where I'm at...I'm using the code from above and
my mp3 sound file is ID'd in the linkage properties as monkey7.mp3
    and it's still not working.
What buttons should be checked in the Linkage properties? If
my id is monkey7.mp3 and I check the Export for ActionScript
button, my sound file plays multiple times and it still won't stop.
If I do the same thing but ID it as "monkey7.mp3", it plays
    correctly but won't stop.
I don't know if this matters but my mc where my sound file is
located is one frame. Is that correct?
I'm sure the code is correct but I'm missing something and I
    can't figure it out!

  • Issue Syncing photos from PC to Ipad 2

I am trying to sync photos from my PC to my Ipad2.  All my albums that were already on have disappeared somehow.  Now when I try to replace them two issues are happening:
A message pops up that says "poer 3b" was not copied...
It syncs an album but seems to be limiting me to 4 albums.  When I try to add any it delets one that is there.
    Help!

How are you trying to sync them ? If you are trying to do them one or two at a time then you need to select and sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go, as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - not including them in a subsequent sync is how you remove them from the iPad (synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad).
If you are getting an error message when trying to sync them (e.g. file could not be copied, file not found) then try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then copy over - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314

  • Issue Updating Photo Names in Web Gallery

There is a sync issue with Web Galleries when the photo name is updated in iPhoto while another update is occurring simultaneously. The changes made in iPhoto are lost.
The 7.0.2 Update does not fix this issue.
It seems there should be the option to "update now" and make the web gallery look just like the iPhoto version.
    Anyone else have this issue?

    pschlampp:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The syncing works correctly for me. Try clearing out the iPhoto Cache folders that are in your User/Library/Caches folder and delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist that's in the User/Library/Preferences folder. See if that will let you update titles as intended.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • HP 7260: Photo tray = color issues (pink photos)

    Hi,
I have a 7260 and it's working fine, as long as you don't use the photo tray.
Today I tried to print a couple of photos on advanced hp photo paper.
No problems at all, except that the picture is completely... pink.
So I tried to mangle with the color settings (in windows) and eventually ended up with 6 pink pictures.
Since I thought this was a settings error, I tried printing straight from the SD memory card.
I figured that if there was no computer involved, there wouldn't be any setting issues either.
And thus I ended up with 7 pink pictures.
I finally decided this would probably be an ink issue, but to make sure I tried to print the same photo on a regular A4 sheet.
And... no color issues there! Printing on regular A4 sheets works just fine!
Any idea how I could make the printer print the right colors on the right paper?

I suggest opening the Print & Scan System Preferences, then highlight your HP Photosmart printer in the printers list and delete it by pressing the minus sign. Now, re-add the printer by clicking on the plus sign and select the printer. Make sure that the 'Print Using:' pull down aut selects the correct driver for your printer. If it doesn't, pull down the list and manually select the correct driver using the 'Select Printer Software' option. Hopefully that will resolve your issue.

  • Issue with Photo Sync

Hi all, I have a big problem with the sync of images and photos from PC to iPod Touch 4G with iOS 4.3.3 using iTunes (lastest version).
Every time i try to sync a folder, iTunes do the optimization, but when it goes to sync them to the iPod, it only sync for example only 1 photo out 20. The message that appear is exactly this one: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1306?viewlocale=en_US
But i tried 100 times and I still haven't been lucky.
    Please Help!

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 4. just bought it yesterday and plugged into itunes and got the same error. this is a brand new phone and just updated to latest firmware in itunes.
I am running 4.2.1 and 10.2.1 on the iphone and itunes.
4.3 is out for the iphone 4 but I cannot even sync the update with out the error saying the drive cannot be read or written to.

  • Issues Syncing Photos to PC from iPad with ios5 with Solution.

As far as transferring pictures TO your PC FROM the Ipad2 (in my case) with Windows 7, I have a done a lot of testing with the new IOS5. As far as I can tell, only pictures taken with the device can be uploaded. So pictures to the iPad using Dropbox; iCloud or services like that cannot be re-uploaded.
Having said that, it appears to me that syncing photos is a one-way sync operation, from the PC to the Ipad. I cannot get pictures taken on the Ipad to sync to the PC. I thought the camera roll was synching, but I was wrong. There is an 'IPOD Photo Cache' but there are no jpg's in there. I also took a photo with the IPAD and moved it to a new album with the new features of the Photo app. I then sync'd. This new album was NOT uploaded to my Pictures folder. The new IPAD IOS5 user guide does not even mention this. It only talks about the optional camera attachment kit.
I did some research and found this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
This shows that you have to use Autoplay to upload your photos. I tested this and it works, but only from the camera roll and not from any created albums, so don't delete any photos from the camera roll until you have uploaded.
This goes against conventional wisdom of the sync process and surprised me. I always assumed my camera roll was syncing .. I never tested it!! Sync is also dangerous in that if you delete on the PC and resynch, it will be gone.
(Note sync may restore the camera roll in the event of a problem. I have not tried that. I am talking about making sure you can access them on the PC later, or in the event of an issue and you lose them).
Another knock against Apple .. how convoluted can they make it?
Another option is to use a service like DropBox to upload photos to your PC. iCloud claims to do it as well, but only 1000 photos (quite a lot I think) but only for 30 days and then they are gone. Make sure you transfer them out on your PC if you use this. Sync does not do it.
Dropbox is great, but one photo at a time.

With the .avi. you'll need to import the videos into itunes which will optimize them for the iPad (if the .avi's dont work, look into something like Handbrake, mpegstreamclip or format facory(pc only) to convert the video to mp4 or m4v files. Then try syncing them via the video/movie tab in iTunes.

  • Issues with Photo orientation after syncing IPad

Just wondering if anyone has had issues with the ipad changing the orientation of photos following syncing ipad with itunes. What I have been experiencing is that although the photo is in portrait orientation in iphoto on the imac, this same photo after syncing of the ipad with itunes on this same imac machine, the photo when opened up on the ipad is in landscape orientation. Have consulted with senior advisors at apple but not sure if this is an iphoto problem or an itunes/ipad sync problem? seems to me that whatever the orientation of the photo is in iphoto, that when you sync the ipad the photo should transfer with the same orientation. anyone else having this problem?

There have been several posts here and on the iphone site about this.
The jury is still out what the fix will be. Some posts say it's a problem with the metadata and the orientation data contained there-in. I can not confirm that.
I do know that when I take a landscape screen snap, the orientation is wrong when I email or upload the photo to my computer.
