LR3 Behaving badly, using LR2

So I went to open my LR3 in my typical catalog ( I segregate some for testing, hence multiple cats ), program starts then fails? Tried holding down the option/alt key to force into another catalog, nada.
On a Mac ( 10.6.8 ) dragged app to trash emptied trash restarted machine ( MacBook Pro ).
Reinstalled 3.4.1, same behavior?
Re-importing my images into LR2 ( 2.7 version ). It runs.
Did not find this issue in a basic search of forums.
I was expecting to have to re-enter my serial number so I think I did not completely "un-install" by dragging app  to trash. Hidden corrupt preferences?
Suggestions sought.

Do I understand correctly that this is only an issue when importing existing edited photos in Lr3 rather than openning your Lr2.5 library with Lr3?  In other words, would this NOT be an issue if simply openning an existing Lr2.5 catalog with Lr3 (or when upgrading at some point later)?  If I take my Lr2.5 catalog and open it with Lr3, I'll still get EVERYTHING, including the history, correct?
Thanks,

This is correct. If you will open an LR 2.5 catalog with LR 3, you'll get all the history, which is stored in the catalog, rather than in the XMP data.
This also applies when you've never written metadata to disk.

    The computer in question is running Vista. With Firefox 8, some websites, e.g. Whitepages.com, livefreept.com, behave badly. Spedifically, they require the user to click on tabs. But the tabs don't appear at all. I upgraded to Firefox 10, to no effect. The sites work fine on this same computer with Internet Explorer, and on both our XP and Windows 7 computers using older older versions of Firefox. All three are using the same Norton Internet Security program, with the same settings. Starting in safe mode, with no add-ons has no effect. Help!

  • Mouse/cursor behaving badly

    Seems to have started recently, maybe with OS software update? My mouse is behaving badly as in it can't seem to capture open Mail windows to rearrange them on my screen - often takes 3 or 4 attemtps to "catch" the window. Also, can't rearrange stacked layers in palettes in Adobe CS4 programs, keeps wanting to bring up dialog boxes for layers instead. Have changed batteries in mouse (Logitech optical wireless) and changed mouse preferences, but seems to be getting worse. Any ideas? Could mouse be getting old? Have had it for quite a few years. Am working on a Mac 2x2.4GHzQuad-CoreIntelXeon, Mac OS 10.6.8.

    Bluetooth is turned off. The 'wireless' is a direct wireless and not through the Airport. When I turn Airport on, there are three other networks visible but they are all locked.
    But, given your suggestion about the mouse, I just tried the mouse on my laptop - AND IT'S THE MOUSE!! Same behaviour repeated on the laptop...
    Thanks. Time to go get a new mouse and lay this one to rest.

  • LR3 using LR2 history

    To try out LR3,  I exported a half dozen M9 DNG files as originals into a folder from Lr2.   These were not exported as DNG but as originals .   Then I imported the test files into LR3 and to Capture One.  My objective was to see how the raw conversion improved and how it compared to the two raw convertors I currently use.   In C1 the files opened as originals ..this was easy to see as one file was cropped in LR2.   In LR3 the files came in and the full history was applied from LR2.   I was not using any .xmp files.
    I could of course simply hit reset and remove the history but what about the raw conversion?  I went back and found the original DNG and made a test copy.  After importing it I could easily see that the raw conversion was improved over the other method implying that my first attempt had already been converted in LR2.
    This would appear to have both good and bad considerations.   I could for example load an entire years worth of images into LR3 ....my folder structure would keep them exactly as they are in LR2..in effect building the library..but carrying the history(development ) from Lr2 to Lr3.  But I would lose out on the improved raw conversions possible with Lr3.

  • Logic MCU behaving badly - when Logic starts up using A-880

    Hey All.
    I'm trying to integrate a Roland A-880 into my system. When Logic and my MCU are connected directly through my audio interface's midi ports, all is well. No issues what so ever.
    When I integrate a Roland A-880 midi patchbay into the system, Logic starts/stops very rapidly over and over..I have to shut down the MCU, start it up, and then reset my midi drivers and then things are back to normal.
    What on earth could the patchbay be doing?
    Appreciate any thoughts,
    Shaun

    Check your patch bay settings, it could be causing a MIDI loop - Logic sends out some stuff to MIDI and gets it right back, causing infinite MIDI feedback and therefore resulting in a driver lockup.

  • Using LR2 w/ Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw 3.7

    I am using Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw 3.7 on a Mac G4, OS X 10.4.11.
    I am about to install my upgrade to Lightroom 2. Is this a bad idea?
    I have read about some compatibility issues re Camera Raw, and I have also read about how to solve the issue of exporting the keywords.
    Will this keyword issue fix work on my system?
    What are the real-world practical implications of still having Camera Raw 3.7? I usually adjust images in Lightroom, then any further adjustment is done in Photoshop (not CR). So is the only downside going to be that if I revisit the image in Camera Raw, the adjustments will not show up? Or will it also not show up in Bridge?? And if it is only in CR, is it that the image does not have the adjustments; or does it show the adjusted image, but has just all the sliders zeroed out?
    I am hot to install LR2, but I want to make sure that I am not going to open a can of worms. And yes, I could buy PS CS4 (which would get me CR 4.5), and I would like to, but I don't have a G5. And I cannot afford to buy a new desktop computer right now.
    Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
    Dean Abramson

    >so is the LR version of RAW as good as the one in CS3?
    It's far better as it has local adjustments and such. Lightroom is more equivalent to the ACR in CS4. To make changes you make to images in ACR outside Lightroom show up in Lightroom, you need to sync the metadata. ACR does not write the changes to RAW images to the Lightroom database, but it writes it into xmp sidecars either right next to the RAW file or embedded into it. So Lightroom has no idea you did anything until you specifically ask it to check for updated metadata.
    Note that trying to work with both bridge/ACR and Lightroom on the same set of data will inevitably make you lose data or edits at some point as you're dealing with a synchronization issue, so be careful.

  • LR3 import issues (vs LR2)

    I have two issues with the "improved" import procedure of LR3.  Can anyone point out my oversights or give me workarounds?
    1) I accumulate many days work on a memory card, downloading only the current day's shots at the end of the day.  In LR2 the import process gave me the dates represented on the card first, letting me uncheck all and check only "today" before downloading thumbnails for me to review.  In LR3 all thumbnails on the card are loaded before I can narrow down to the "today's" shots I want.  And then selecting for todays date is not a one check process.  On the average, this is a MUCH slower process for my workflow.
    2) I shoot RAW+jpg without flash, jpg only with flash.  When the RAW file exists I don't want to spend time weeding out the jpg from the import process (by downloading thumbnails and unchecking boxes).  In LR2 there is a setting which tells the import process to ignore jpgs paired with RAW files and they disappear automatically.  I can't find this in LR2.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    You are right that if the option to "Treat JPEG files next to RAW files as separate photos" is unchecked, the JPEGs will not be imported into a LR3 catalog as separate photos.  However, they arecopied to the hard drive as separate .jpg files and are treated as a sidecar files in the LR3 catalog.  One sign of this is the ".dng+JPEG" extension which shows in the catalog filename.  So with the box checked I must weed extra JPEGs out by unchecking their thumbnail in the Content area of the Import screen.  With the box unchecked I must delete the unwanted JPEG sidecar files after importing.  Either way is inconvenient compared with LR2 where I could edict that the JPEGs just be ignored altogether.
    To anticipate someone's suggestion that I stop the extra jpgs from being recorded by my cameras, there are enough occasions when having a camera-processed jpg as an immediate and temporary product is useful that I don't want to do that.  Still once I've begun importing in LR, the jpegs are superfluous.

  • Not able to send a mail through  BADI using FM ' SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1'

    hello friends,
    The below code work perfectly in a report but it does not work with BADI .
    The mail needs to be sent to an internet user ,this is the code i am using.
    CALL FUNCTION 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1'
    EXPORTING
    document_data = lx_docu_data
    document_type = 'RAW'
    commit_work = lc_checked
    TABLES
    object_content = li_docu_content
    receivers = li_receiver
    Am able to send mail directly from SE37 to Transaction SCOT and here i need to start the send process and mail is sent sucessfully. But from the code its not working.
    li_receiver -> lw_receiver-receiver = useratdomain.com
    lw_receiver-rec_type = 'U'.

    Hi Sheel,
    It wont work in a BADI since COMMIT WORK is not explicitly recognized.
    Put the FM in a separate report program with COMMIT WORK and call the report using SUBMIT from the BADI. I hope this definitely works!
    Let us know how it goes.

  • ITunes 8 behaves badly on second monitor

    Strange problem that I have noticed on my MacPro 2.66. I have two 22" LCDs running on my MacPro with 4GB of RAM and 10.5.5. If I try move the iTunes window on right LCD by grabbing the header bar and dragging the screen will freeze for about 30 seconds. The window will eventually move but the screen will not redraw. If I move the iTunes window to the other LCD it works fine. This only affects iTunes not any other panels on the right LCD. Quitting iTunes and restarting doesn't solve the problem. I did rebuild permissions after I upgraded to 10.5.5.
    Can I just restore iTunes 7 from my Time Machine back-up?

    kinu wrote:No way with Twinview (or I don't know how to do it). I will try with xrandr.
    Yeah, seems to be a limitation of the Nvidia GUI, but it seems that it's possible [and necessary] to configure it with Xorg's configuration files if you want more freedom to position your monitors.
    Since some extra configuration is needed with the Nvidia driver, xrandr alone might not be ideal in your situation. [I mentioned it before since I never needed to mess with my Xorg configuration, and an .xprofile script based around xrandr works better with my Intel-based laptop. ]
    Xorg's config files seem like a better choice for you, and if you need to change monitor layouts on the fly, xrandr should still work once you have a good Xorg configuration. If you choose to go this route, you'll probably find this section of the Xorg wiki page very useful: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg#Nvidia_2
    Since you'd need to specify a position for your second monitor to workaround this, you'd need to use a line like this, instead of the "RightOf" one in the example configuration: ' Screen       1 "Screen1" x y ' where x,y is the location of the upper left corner of that display.
    [If a configuration file already exists, make sure you create a backup of it first. Worst-case scenario, a bad config file will prevent X from starting, and you could just restore the backup from the command-line.]
    I also discovered that offsetting it by the exact height of your panel seems to cause problems on your primary monitor [at least with the latest version of the XFCE panel]. Upon rebooting, windows would not respect my panels, and instead would go underneath them when maximized. Although, by offsetting my second monitor by a little more [1920x280 instead of 1920x284], both monitors allow windows to maximize correctly, so if you run into the same problem, something like that should fix it.

    Hi,
    The requirement I have is to substitute the transaction type field (BSEG-BEWAR)based on the mapping to movement types.
    The first step, in case of a Goods issue is to look into table LIPS, field BWART to get the movement type. However, since the outbound delivery has not been created, I cannot query this table on the basis of VBELN.
