LR3 crop is lost in CS5

When I crop an image in LR3 to an 8x10 and then Photo>Edit In> CS5 (import a copy with LR3 adjustments) it comes in at 9.5 x 11.75 ? I am in the Develop Mod, I use the crop overlay with custom crop. I export at a resolution of 300. What am I doing wrong ?

8x10 is just the aspect ratio, not the physical size. These are not inches.
You're doing nothing wrong. Just go on with your work.

LR3 doesn't open Photoshop CS5

I'm running the demo of LR3 and licensed version of CS5. There's no option to edit with Photoshop. I have deleted my LR3 preference file, started a new catalogue, and nothing works. Can't imagine it's the demo version since it's fully functional.
Any ideas?

Finally found the answer! I had installed CS5 before uninstalling CS4 so it "lost" connection to CS4 when I uninstalled it. Reinstalled CS5 and...bam...it worked!

Problem returning image to LR3 after edit in PS CS5. Help!

After adjustment in LR3, I edit in PS (CS5). I finish with "save" but image does not return to LR3. I do find it in my hard drive Photo folder. Then it's a PIA to re import to LR3 for printing.
Very frustrating, Can someone help this old guy?

First, why isn't there a "EDIT" suffix? Did you change that option on purpose?
Lightroom might be importing your Tiff as a sidecar to the original. To confirm this, you can check the Metadata panel, to see what the Sidecar field contains. If it has a tiff in there - that's the problem.
Dorin, I do not seem to be able to find a "Sidecar" field within my Metadata panel. Is this something I have to set up somehow. All of the examples that I have seen of using CS5 from LR make no mention of this feature, consequently, I was unaware of it. I assume this displays somehow within the Library module? Is there something that should be turned on, or off, for this to happen. I would appreciate your expanding on your explanation. Thanks.

Problems with Crop and TWAIN in CS5?

I have not been using Photoshop lately other than keeping up with updates. When I started a project yesterday, I ran into two new issues.
The Crop tool no longer works. I frame the area and when I double click to Crop, the entire image Crop's. This is the same in 64 bit or 32 bit. Apparently it started after one of the latest updates. I'm working around it by using a Mask to Crop but I'd like it to work right. Any idea's?
Then I discover that in the 32 bit version, when I go to File > Import the link to my Epson Scanner is gone. I know it won't work in the 64 bit which is a real pain, but it did work in the 32 bit version, again until one of the latest updates. Since I did not use it for a while I'm not sure which update was the culprit. Any idea's? I'm doing thousands of scans and doing the scanning as a stand alone instead of directly into Photoshop adds a small amount of time to each one which adds up to a lot. I'm actually considering going back to an older version.
I'd switch Scanners, but Epson is so much better and the software so much better, I'll go down kicking and screaming. Really sad about the TWAIN insanity going on for years. Sucks in fact.
Windows 7 64 bit, CS5 fully updated. The Epson Scanner Software is the same as it was when it was still working. No issues other than the two I mention here.

As to the scanner, they have not updated since 2009. Great scanner but I may have to buy another. Tried another from work, but won't let me mask out multiple scans at once. With the size of scans of negatives, I truly need 64 bit. To many updates this year and to little money. I have to upgrade from the CS Suite to CS5 and I've only been doing PS. Like so many others these huge update costs from Adobe are strangling for small business. Sorry Adobe, but it is to high.

Adobe, you absolutely SUCK for making it so difficult to install this software. I am normally a fan of Adobe products, but now that you guys have bought out all your competiton you are getting lazy and stupid.

So, after over another week (I have been trying to find a way to install Acrobat with my purchased copy of the Master Suite for MONTHS)... My IT guy finally gets me the installer DMG for Acrobat and now I cannot install it with my master collection because the serial numbers are not the same?
I never got a god damn serial number for Acrobat Pro when purchasing the master collection.
Asking Adobe for help is totally worthless and not even worth taking the time to do so because all they give you is some BS pre-recorded response that doesn't help you with JACK...

Network lost connection - CS5

Just installed CS5 and within 5 minutes it crashed with the lost network connection box. The other designer in my team had his Indesign crash 3 times already today. Luckily enough it opens more or less back at the point it crashed.
This used to happen when we installed CS4 but gradually faded out to the point where it only happened once every few weeks.
We use PCs on windows 7 connected to a large scale network and I can assure you the network does not go down or lose connection. Also our area is restricted so no one else can edit or move our files. Our profiles are network based but the programs are ran from the hard drive.
This does not happen in any other program, even when we link files into Illustrator.
I have searched the internet and adobe forum but have found no answer for this. It seems to be quite common but no solution.. apart from saving to a harddrive which is not posssible for the work we do
Can anyone help?

Sorry for my vague network description. In terms of technical details I dont know is the honest answer. There is a server room which were not allowed into for security reasons. I could probably get details from the IT team if needed.
I know you say harddrive is better than network, which is how we used to work, and then the hard drive crashed on one computer and was not recoverable. As a result all our files are now saved to a local server as it is backed up everynight without fail. Providing we do not access the servers in other office it generally runs as quick as hard drive as well. To give you an idea, our work area is around 1TB at present and thats just between 2 designers, there are around 90 actual designers globally. We often package files and share them which is another reason we save to the network.
The crashing in CS5 is mainly happening when we go to save.
Maybe we need to look into the server version before this gets rolled out onto the rest of the computers which is due to happen next week.

PS, AE, and LR3 will not open in CS5 Master Collection

Window7, 64-bit, CS5 Master Collection, LightRoom 3…
Have had no trouble since loading CS5 (which was difficult) for the last month or more. Today, PS 64-bit, LR 3, AE and Mocha for AE will not open. These programs close with a similar error message “i.e., Adobe Photoshop 64-bit has stopped working. All other programs in CS5 including Photoshop 32-bit will open?
Any suggestions on what to do to correct the problem? After spending 2 weeks installing CS5 this is heartbreaking - I wish Adobe would pay for my downtime!

This worked for me: turn off User Account Control and then reboot.

Cropping ability lost on upgrade to iPhoto 6

I upgraded to 6.0.2. Pictures came over fine and ability to do sepia, etc. works. But although I can go through the cropping motions, when I go to save the work, the action reverts to the original picture without the cropping being done. Any one there who can help me correct this? Right. I click on the crop button, do my cropping then hit the done button and the image just returns to its place but the crop did not take hold. I have also cropped the image without hitting the crop button, just clicked on the image and done the cropping. Then I hit the done button but alas nothing was done.

I am unable to find the cs5 extended software on adobe.com site. Where can I download it from? My serial is registered with Adobe and I would expect to either download or order a replacement CD from Adobe. I need help!!!!

I was loading Adobe Acrobat Pro, and as it seemed not to be downloading (taking much too long) I forced quit. It disappeared from the desktop and I can not reload. Error code 131:4 Also my Photoshop CS5 disappeared! I have it in my system but as it was loaded from Adobe due to issues with my old copy, I don't have a code to reload> Help where do I go?

Hi, I recently purchased a new Macbook. My last one had the Adobe Photoshop CS5 Photoshop installed on it that I purchased and recently failed on me. I moved to a new state for graduate school and left many of my things back home, including the Photoshop CS5 disc. I have the serial code on me, but I need to install the program again, and fast. LR3 - PS CS5.1, DNGs do not get opened

On my Macbook Pro w/OS X 10.6.8, I've got LR3.4.1, and PS CS5.1 Extended with the most recent Camera Raw update..
When I right-click and choose Edit In on a DNG file in LR3, and select either Open as Smart Object, or Edit In Photoshop.., the DNG file is never opened in Photoshop. If Photoshop is not currently running, then LR3 will kick off Photoshop, but the DNG file never makes it into Photoshop.
Editing PSD files works correctly.
Things I've tried:
Uninstalled/reinstalled Photoshop.
Uninstalled/reinstalled LR3.
Deleted the Photoshop.plist file.
Deleted the Lightroom.plist file.
I can open the DNG directly in Camera Raw and from thence to Photosohp, either via Bridge or Finder.
I'm at a loss. I've never had this issue on Windows, where I'm coming from. The suggested fixes I found on Google are not working. I'm not sure where, if any, log files exist that might help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Matt - Try the following workaround:
Open the Preferences for Lightroom™, manually navigate to and choose the Photoshop™ app as the “custom” image editor. Then edit your DNGs from Lightroom™ using the new Custom setting instead of the default. LR will give you a brief message that it "knows" you have CS5, but ignore it. Yes, this means you need to use the Custom editor as your image editor, but what price success?
This workaround also solved the pervasive Photoshop Camera Raw Plug-in incompability issue for me as well.
