LR3 doesn't open Photoshop CS5

I'm running the demo of LR3 and licensed version of CS5.  There's no option to edit with Photoshop.  I have deleted my LR3 preference file, started a new catalogue, and nothing works.  Can't imagine it's the demo version since it's fully functional.
Any ideas?

Finally found the answer!  I had installed CS5 before uninstalling CS4 so it "lost" connection to CS4 when I uninstalled it.  Reinstalled CS5 and...bam...it worked!

  • Why does Bridge CC try to open Photoshop CS5

Double clicking on a RAW file in Bridge CC returns an error message saying that Photoshop CS5 could not be found.
I had both CS6 and CC installed. Double clicking on a RAW file in Bridge CS6 opened Photoshop CS6 (expected). Double clicking on a RAW file in Bridge CC opened Photoshop CC (expected).
I uninstalled everything related to CS6.
Now, double clicking on a RAW file in Bridge CC tries to opened Photoshop CS5!
How do I fix this?  How do I get Bridge CC to open raw files in Photoshop CC?
    Thanks.

Official answer from Adobe Support: manually map all file types to the desired version of Photoshop. The process is:
    1. Go to: Bridge CC   Edit | Preferences | File Type Associations
    2. Find file type mapped to "photoshop"
    3. Right click on the "photoshop" text | Browse
    4. Browse to the desired version of Photoshop | select it | Open
Repeat steps 2-4 for all instances of file types mapped to "photoshop." Hint: you can just double click on the desired version of Photoshop in step 4.

  • Today after a long time I tired to open photoshop CS5.1 on my mac, however it has vanished?

Today after a long time I tired to open photoshop CS5.1 on my mac, however it has vanished and I am unable to find it anywhere on my system. I have recently done an update to my system so am unsure if this has affected it in anyway but the only thing I am able to find in Adobe Utilities is an uninstall option? I have tried reopening old saved psd files but these only open up preview. The photoshop I owned was a student version so am unsure if this has something to do with it going away ? Is there a way to get it to come back at all with out having to buy it again?

  • Open Photoshop CS5 and CS6

I can't open Photoshop CS5 and CS6 versions simultaneously. When I launch CS6, and then CS5, it takes me to CS6, and vice versa.
Is it possible to keep open the two versions? With Indesign I can do it.

As far as I know that is normal behavior:  only one instance of Photoshop at a time.   Forum members have reported running two versions of Photoshop simultaneously using virtual machines on their computer (which emulate separate computers).

Is it possible Windows Update or something caused a new display driver to be installed?
It's usually best to visit the web site of the maker of your display adapter (video card), and download/install their latest for your particular model.
Other things that can send Photoshop "off the deep end" are bad 3rd party plug-ins, or even corrupted or badly crafted fonts.  Have you installed any of these since it worked?

You should check with Adobe, but it's likely they'll say that Photoshop CS5 isn't supported on Yosemite and they'll recommend you update to a new CC version, which of course requires a subscription.
It could be that Photoshop requires a Java installation (and probably an old one), that isn't running on Yosemite by default. Java 6 is not "new," it's in fact very old. I do think you can download Java 6 from Apple - check apple.com/support/downloads.

  • Unable to open Photoshop CS5 from LR3

Just installed LR3... and found that when I have a photo open in it and  I  attempt to go to "Photo" / "Edit in"  within LR3 all references to Photoshop are "Dimmed". Have checked everything I can think of in Preferences, etc. but can't figure out why I can't get PS to open... The photo file is a Tiff... I opened all of them in LR 2.7 without any problem.
The only program that I am able to access is Canon DPP. Help or suggestions???
I know it must be something really simple,,, Thanks

It would be necessary that you have to use "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool". (see Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 )
The order varies depending on your individual needs:
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
    2. Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"? Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html   and follow the prescribed sequence of operations

  • Application Manager prompt while trying to open Photoshop CS5 Extended

    Hi,
I have a problem since yesterday. When I try to open Photoshop I get such a prompt:
    Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended
Adobe Application Manager is needed to start your trial.
Adobe Application Manager is needed to resolve this problem. However, it is missing or damaged.
Download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com,
    or install this product again.
    OK
For some reason it doesn't see my serial number. So I installed Adobe Application Manager and it opens Photoshop in trial mode asking to enter my serial number or start a 30-day trial. I don't have my CD or box any more. Is my serial number stored anywhere on my computer (Windows 7, 64-bit)?
I haven't been reinstalling Photoshop. It has been running fine and this issue started to happen suddenly.
    Please help.

Did you register it? Then you can log into your account and retrieve it there.
The serial number to license the software is what you pay for. Always keep serial numbers in a safe place with backups.

  • Trouble opening Photoshop CS5.1 and pdf files

Hi.  I have an early model of a Mac Pro I got about 6 years ago.  I have 4 harddrives, and I’ve installed OS X version 10.7.5 on one drive, and 10.6.8 on another drive.  I have Photoshop Elements 8 and 9 installed on the 10.7.5 harddrive.  They work fine. I also have Photoshop CS5.1 installed.  It worked fine for a few months, but now it will not open.  I tried re-installing from the disk – it re-installed, but it still will not open.  I also have it installed on the harddrive with version 10.6.8, and it works fine there.  Also, when I am using 10.7.5 I cannot download and read pdf files from the web; they work just fine when I am using 10.6.8.  Anyone out there have any suggestions for fixing this dilemma?   I sure would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.

    Hi Joe,
Sorry for the trouble after the Yosemite update! First thing I would try would be to check the disk permissions with Disk Utility and run a repair, then see if it runs ok.
Sometimes that can do the trick.
If not, then Your next best bet would be to uninstall CS5.1, download, and reinstall it to the new computer/OS.
The downloads are available here: Other downloads
Give these suggestions a try and let us know how it goes,

  • Error Message when opening Photoshop CS5: CoreFoundation.dll missing

Hello... and thank you for your help,
I downloaded my upgraded version of CS5 yesterday. I am running Windows 7.
I did not have a problem with the download or with accessing it. CS4 is still loaded on my computer.
Toady I started copying plugins and loading actions from CS4 to CS5. All of that went well too. I also tried to open CS4 while CS5 was open (and vice versa) to manually copy my Preference settings to CS5. When either was already open and I tried to open the other version, the other version merely reopened the version that was already opened.
At some point during this transitioning process, I opened up CS5 and received an error message that "The program can't start because the CoreFoundation.dll is missing from your computer..." I searched for this .dll file and found several entries, two of which are in CS4 and CS4 (64 bit).
How do I correct this? What happened? Also, do I need to keep my CS4 versions -- and are they causing the problem?
Thank you so much for your help,
    Guy

    Thanks so much, Chris.
The 64bit version of CS5 opens perfectly... and when I open this version first, then close it and open the 32 bit version (the one with the problem), the 32 bit version opens the first time without the error. The next time I open it, the error returns.
The 32 bit and 64 bit CS4 versions have these .dll files in them. Would copying one of these files to the CS5 version correct the problem? Should I uninstall and reinstall CS5 all together?
    Thank you again.
    Guy
PS Interesting that you mention iTunes. iTunes works fine except I haven't been able to open the iTunes store for two months... and Apple doesn't know why. (They stopped trying a month ago.) Also, one of their techs told me I can't delete Quicktime without damaging iTunes(?)

  • How to Open Photoshop CS5?

I have been talking to PS Tech.Serv. for a week and they have no solution. I installed PS CS5. When I try to open Photoshop or Bridge I get a message, "This application failed to initialize properly (0xc000001d). Click on OK to terminate the application. I have Windows XP. HELP!

Edit: I tried saving files as PDF and JPG but when I try to open the documents on a computer without photoshop (a windows version)
Both PDF and JPG should meet those requirements anyway.
The PDF should be able to be opened with Acrobat Reader at the least (maybe you should check if it is the current version).
You could try using File > Save for Web & Devices to create a smaller JPG, though.

  • Unable to open Photoshop CS5.1

Hi.  I have a Mac running OS X version10.7.5.  I have Photoshop Elements 8 and 9 installed. They work fine.  I also have Photoshop CS5.1 installed.  It worked fine until today.  It will not open.  I tried re-installing from the disk, but I cannot insert the serial number – the first block having 5 letters and a digit.  I sure would appreciate any help you can provide.  Thanks.

You may be able to discover your serial number by entering the product code and your e-mail address at https://www.identit-e.com/default/index/selfHelp/p/14.  Alternately if your software is registered you can follow the directions in http://forums.adobe.com/message/3987968#3987968?promoid=KBHJW to locate you serial number on http://www.adobe.com/.
