LR3 to LR4 Camera Profiles?

While I am aware that Develop Presets will behave totally differently between LR3 and LR4 due to processing differences I have never specifically seen camera profiles addressed.
Will custom profiles done in LR3 give different results in LR4?

Thanks guys.
If you still have your eye on this thread here is another question. I have available profiles for a camera with the same sensor as my second camera (Sony A55 available - A57 not). Is there away by re-labling profile names to have LR use the one marked for the A55 when it reads that the camera is the A57? Could the files/folders be retitled or is the camera info embedded in the profiles themselves?

  • LR 3.6RC vs. LR 3.6 /w D700 Camera Profiles v4

I used the LR 3.6RC on Mac to develop a whole session using the Camera Profiles v4 that came with 3.6RC. The behaviour was a bit strange as the images got "lighter" the more you move the "Wiederherstellungs-Regler"  (is that recovery control in the english version?) to the right. Anyhow, I developed some hundred images using LR3.6RC /w Camera Profiles v4 and after I installed the regular 3.6 now all images that have been done with 3.6RC are now too dark (and much too dark!). That means I have to go through all images to re-develop them?
You can see an example here: left is how it looks in (also devel here) 3.6RC1, right is how it looks now in 3.6

I'll have to add new findings to the above issue. When I switch to the library mode the image will be shown in the original development status as it has been done in LR3.6RC. You'll see it in the screendumps.
On the left side is the screendump from the library module. The right photo of the two is the one I'm talking about. The left one is a tiff version with all controls set to zero.
The screendump on the right site shows the same image in the development module of LR3.6. Same behaviour as in my first mail.
    Any idea, help?

  • LR3 camera profiles loaded but not showing in develop

I checked in - documents and settings\all users\application date\adobe\camera raw\camera profiles and Nikon D700 and many more seem to be loaded. However these do not show up in camera profiles in "develop". Anybody any idea why not ?

Hi Beat. I am shooting with a D700 in raw. In the develop area of LR3 and under "calibration" there is "profile: ". In the drop down menu I currently see ACR 4.6 / Adobe standard/ Camera D2X mode 1,2 and 3. It also incudes Camera landscape neutral / portrait / standard / vivid. I normaly use Camera standard as this gives me about what I want, but I have only had LR3 for a couple of weeks now and am experimenting.
If you go into the Adobe LR3 programme under documents and settings and get to camera profiles you see two options under "camera profiles"  -- ADOBE STANDARD / CAMERA
CAMERA is from Adobe shipped with LR3 which has 61 cameras showing which are Canon/ Nikon (to include D700) / Pentax and Leica.
IF as you say LR3 knows I am shooting with a D700, why does the camera profile for D700 not show in LR3 in develop and in the area stated in my first line above, or am I misunderstanding somethig here ?

  • Having trouble with camera profiles in LR3

Anyone having trouble with accessing the camera profiles from the drop down menu in the develop module/camera calibration section of LR3? The only choice I have is "embedded." After I created a custom with passport color checker it now only offers "profile" as a choice. ANy thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Okay, that is different.  I have seen a similar discussion in another thread (I think) in the Lightroom forum.  It might have been this one.  It seems to have been specific to Canon cameras.  I don't have an answer.  Just one question, however.  Are you using standard CR2 files, or are you using the sRaw format?  As I was reading the other thread, I was wondering if that could have been part of the problem.

  • Does LR3 include new Nikon D700/D3 Camera Profiles?

A few months ago, Adobe released some new "beta" camera profiles for the Nikon D700/D3. Are these profiles included in LR3? If so, do I have to do anything to get my photos to use them?

    Mark,
I cannot give you a definitive answer to your question, but I can tell you what file-dates the different D3/D700 profiles have:
    Older Profiles:         31.10.2008
    Beta-Profiles:          06.03.2010
    ARC 6.1/LR 3.0:     21.05.2010
So my guess would be that the beta changes have been included. If they will be used automatically on already imported photos after installing LR 3.0 you would have to test, since the profile names are different. On new imports, they'll be used automatically.
Maybe somebody from Adobe (Eric?) can confirm this.

  • Custom camera profiles have stopped appearing in LR4.3/ACR 7.3

Really odd... I've been using custom profiles that I created using a ColourChecker Passport for sometime now. I just updated LR and ACR to the latest versions, and I've noticed that they are no longer selectable under the Camera Calibration tab - I just get the standard list of profiles for my camera (Nikon D7000).
I checked in the the relevant folder for LR and they weren't there, but they are in the ACR folder. I copied them across to the LR folder as well, but this has had no effect. In both cases, they're in the root-level folder for all profiles, so in LR's case, they're in C:Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3/resources/CameraProfiles. This is where both the CCP and Adobe DNG Profile Editor have previoulsy placed them by default - I've never needed to place them in the actual camera model folder itself. Both applications have always found them there without issue.
Anyone else had this problem since upgrading, or have a solution?

OK- I am being a total dummy and need some help, please. I have put the KM7D and Sony A700 camera profiles in the above mentioned places
    C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3\Resources\CameraProfiles\Camera
AND am still not seeing them in either PSE11 or in LR4.3
I also installed CR 7.3 and DNG 4.3 per the Adobe forum.
So, I guess either it is not working or I am looking in the wrong place in PSE11 and LR to find them.
I assume in LR I should be in Develop and I look on the right side under Camera Calibration and try to pick it there somehow. If not- where? Where would I find this in PSE11?
I also tried a little experiment. I have my profiles in
    C:\Users\SRose\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Sony DSLR-A700
and I renamed "Faithful" to Faithfula700" and then opened Lightroom and went to Camera Calibration and only Faithful was there- no Faithfula700. So, either LR truncates the file name or there is some internal name in the dcp files that LR uses or these profiles are not being recognized.
Sorry to be such a noob- everything else I know how to find and LR help was none at all.
    Thanks
    Steve

  • How can I create a camera profile in LR4 from my camera

I have a 5d mark 2, and I created a custom camera profile that is ideal for me, however when I shoot raw it only gives me the adobe, and camera standards etc. Is there a way that I can take my user setting on my 5d and transfer it into lightroom??

The camera profiles are only applied to the in-camera JPGs, never to the Raw files.
This is not only so for your Canon but for every camera that shoots Raw.

  • LR4, PS5, PS6 user defined camera profiles

I'm on Mac OS 10.8. Where are user defined camera profiles stored? I can see older profiles in LR develop module, but cannot locate the path.

    Macintosh HD / Users / [your username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / CameraRaw / CameraProfiles /
It's a hidden folder on 10.8 - go to Finder > Go menu and when you hold down the Opt key, Library will appear in that list.

  • Camera Profiles gone in Camera Raw 6.2

I recently updated my camera raw in Photoshop CS5 (Win 7 64 bit) to 6.2. I noticed this evening that my camera profiles are missing. Even if I open a raw file that I had previously edited. The only option under camera profiles is "Matrix". I used to have portrait, landscape...etc. etc.
I would go back to 6.1 but am unable to go back...not sure how. It just fails. Any suggestions? Tried resetting to camera raw defaults...didn't change anything.

I am having a similar problem.  Have Windows7, CS5 and LR3, even before this last update to Raw 6.3 I can not access any camera profiles.  When opening an image in Camera Raw it has my camera name at the very top (Says Camera RAw 6.3 - Sony DSLR-A550, and under the image it has the file number .dng); but when I go to camera profiles the only option is 'Adobe Standard'.  I am new to this so maybe that is all there is; I'd just think that if there is a drop down box offered, there would be something to choose from.
I want to eventually create a custom profile for my camera.
I have tried downloading the updater and re-running it.
Also if I go to the ProgramData>Adobe>CameraRaw>CameraProfiles  My camera is in the Adobe Standard Folder, but not the Camera folder.  Camera folder has only some Canons, Nikons and a few Pentax.
It could be that everything is as it should be, I don't know.

  • Camera Profile Missing

I have been using LR3 almost non-stop since its launch, but today my Camera Profile in the Develop module have disappeared - I am only offered ACR 4.4 or ACR 3.6. When I press Alt and the Reset button, LR3 offers me my Canon 400D profile, but when I choose Update to current settings, absolutely nothing happens. I have tried exitinf LR3 and going back in, but it just stays the same.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Beat
Thank you for resolving my problem. To help others, I will detail what I did (in addition to the steps detailed above), to get my EOS 400D profiles back.
After your reassurance that I would not lose any of my previous edit settings, I reinstalled LR3 from my original CD: the re-install just wrote over the original version of LR3, but I think that, crucially, it amended the Registry. That gave me my missing Camera Profiles back. I rebooted, ran LR3, and chose the upgrade to LR3.2. This time, it gave me an option to uninstall LR3.2 (which was what I was initially running when the problem started, or REPAIR the existing installation. I chose REPAIR, and so far, everything looks good.
Also, although I have not reinstalled any part of my Photoshop CS3, Adobe Bridge/ACR is also showing my Camera Profiles too.
I am sure that the installation and subsequent uninstall of Photoshop Elements triggered the problem.
Thanks too, to everyone else who contributed.

  • Camera Profile Re-Installation LR 4

I have upgraded to LR4, but none of my camera profiles show up. So, I tried to manually transfer the relevant folders and files to reside as subfolders under Library-App Support-->Camera Raw 7.  However, this did not work.
I would appreciate it very much if someone could tell me how to properly re-install the profiles.  I use several different cameras, so I have an extensive list of Adobe and custom profiles.
    Thanks,
    ina

    I have SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!
It had nothing to do with Lightroom.  The problem was that, this week I installed the Photoshop CS6 update and had not pointed to the preset folder from CS5 in the CS6 preferences.  Once I did this, all my plug-in and presets appeared in CS6 and, then, when I next opened Lightroom, the presets were available in Lightroom as well.
Thanks Ian and jim01403 for trying to help,
    Ina

  • Lightroom 4.4 won't recognize custom camera profiles

I can't get LR4 to recognize any custom profiles.  I've loaded others' tried and proven custom profiles for Fuji X-cameras, and I've used Adobe DNG Profile Editor to create my own .dcp profile with my X-E1.  All these profiles are in the correct folder: Library>Application Support>Adobe>Camera Raw>Camera Profiles.  Yet when I open LR4 and go to the Camera Calibration panel, the only profile showing on the drop down menu is Adobe Standard. I am working with only RAW files.  I have no idea why LR4 can't see these profiles.  Do they need to go in a folder inside the Camera Profiles folder?

OMG... I'm such a nit-wit!!  I switched the setting in my camera to try something and forgot to swith it back!
I've been digging through this for more that an hour and never bothered to check the file setting.
    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Strong colour shift when reselecting Adobe Standard camera profile

I'm having this curious problem with Nikon V1 NEFs (raw files) in Lightroom 4 beta.
In the develop module, Adobe Standard is selected as the default camera profile. If I switch to one of the other profiles (for the V1, the options are Camera Landscape, Neutral, Portrait, Standard, and Vivid) and then switch back to Adobe Standard, I get a strong color shift in the blues, which move towards teal. It looks like a white balance shift, but the white balance settings themselves don't change.
I've attached three screenshots, the first showing an untouched file with Adobe Standard selected as the default profile in the develop module, then with the Camera Vivid profile selected, and then with Adobe Standard reselected. Besides changing the profile, there are no edits on this file: all I've done is import it, put it in a collection, switch to the develop module, select the Camera Vivid profile and then reselect Adobe Standard.
The color shift happens regardless of which camera profile I pick before reslecting Adobe Standard. Interestingly, while the colors are off in the develop module, they're correct in the library module. Switching back and forth between library and develop doesn't fix the problem -- as long as Adobe Standard has been reselected in develop, the colors are off in that module but correct in library. The only way I've found to clear the color shift is to click reset in develop. Select another camera profile, though, and then reselect Adobe Standard and the problem comes right back.

Yes. This is a bug that has been reported/fixed after the public beta build was made ready. Somehow it did not make it to the final public beta release note. The current workaround is to relaunch LR4 or
    a) Copy Settings (check all except Calibration),
    b) Reset,
    c) Paste Settings.
This will invalidate some internal memory cache that went stale.

  • Camera profiles bug

Some camera profiles not appear in the version 4.4., and ACR 7.4
    folder of camera profiles
I see this in LR 4.4 and ACR 7.4
    And this whith LR5
I had made me with ColorChecker Passport. Anyone know where it is due. You can fix-it?
If  I open one camer profile made in 4.4 with "texedit" I see this:
    IIRC   ∆
    b!∆
and if I open all the camera profile made with 4.3 i look this:
    IIRC   ∆  b!∆
What has changed in the plugin developer?

There was a change to the behavior of LR4.4 and ACR 7.4 to look for camera profiles only in the user level location not the root level. What OS are you on?
