LR3 trial question

I have downloaded the trial version of LR3.   If I convert the catalog from PSE9 to LR3 will it still work in PSE9 should i decide not to go with LR3.
Thanks   Steve

Hello, very new to LR3 myself. Yesterday I loaded LR3 and the software asked me if I wanted to convert my Elements catalog or if I wanted to create a new LR3 version. That to me implies that if you chose to convert then you would not be able to migrate back to the original. I chose to create new as I want to keep the Elements catalog working for when I am working in Elements. Hope I'm right Curt

  • LR3 trial version

I downloaded the LR3 trial version and I cannot get into the program.  When I click on the icon on my desktop, it brings me to a screen that says to select a recent catalog to open, but there are no catalogs listed.  At the bottom of the screen, it says "Note:  LR catalogs cannot be on a network volumes or in read-only folders".  Then it tells me to 1.  Chose a different catalog, or 2. Create a new catalog.  Can someone tell me what I should do? I have NO idea.....not very computer savvy!

It's asking you to convert your Lightroom 1 or Lightroom 2 catalogue, but since you don't have either of those, just create a new one.
After you get the program running, it would make sense for you to read the help file and to google the web for Lightroom tutorials. Also, the main LR Forum page has a pointer to the Lightroom FAQ. Reading that would also help.

  • LR3 trial version fully functional with LR2 Catalogs ?

    Hi,
I wanted to know if the LR3 trial version was fully compatible with LR2 Catalogs. I just purchased LR2 on May 19th and am eligible for a free upgrade to LR3 but customer support cant just give me a key they have to mail me a boxed product. Until i get the box with the serial number i was wondering if i could download the trial and have it work with my LR2 catalogs, as i know the beta versions would not do so. If anybody has tried this can you let me know. Thanks.
    Ed

you can download the whole version also (no box needed). The trial is
the normal full version and will convert the LR2 catalog. After reception of the boxed version and key youo will be able to enter the key and keep on using the old catalog.

  • Cannot open LR Beta Catalogues on LR3 Trial

I used Lightroom 2 Beta (it's possible it was 3, but I thought I remembered it being 2) from September 2009 to May 2010 for a photography project at school, and saved all of my work on an external hard drive. I just downloaded the LR3 Trial in order to open my catalogues and export them as JPegs so that my edits with lightroom would be done on the exported images, and I could use them how I wanted. However, I was unable to open any of the '.lrcat' files on my hard drive, receiving the message:
"Lightroom cannot use the catalog named "FinalProject" because it is not writable and cannot be opened. This could be caused by incorrect permissions or because another Lightroom application is using the catalog. You may try to correct the problem or you may select a different catalog."
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can retrieve all of the edits I have made to my pictures? I really don't want to lose all of the work that I've done.I'm sure I can find a program to convert the NEF files to JPGs, but the changes I made are what I'm concerned about.
NOTE: The catalog that was saved on my home computer does open on the LR3 trial.

If you were using a Beta of LR from Sept 2009- May 2010 then it was most likely the Beta for LR 3. There was an explicit warning with the Beta 1 that the resultant catalog files may not work in the subsequent full release.
The Beta 2 version was able to be upgraded with LR 3. You may have used Beta 1 and not Beta 2. You may be able to find a copy of Beta 2 upgrade the intiial catalog and then upgrade that with LR 3 itself.
In the meantime you should at least check that you are working as the Admin log in and there is no lock file (this is a file ending in .lck0 active in the catalog. However it may just be that you can't use the catalogs you made in the Beta. Betas are for testing and should not be used for production as was clearly stated on the download page for the Beta application.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro trial questions

My organisation is thinking about upgrading from Acrobat 9 Standard to Pro, primarily to use LiveCycle to design and distribute some electronic forms. Prior to to buying the upgrade we'd like to test the both the functionality and uptake with our customers, but before I install the trial version I have a few questions:
Can I just install the trial onto a machine running Acrobat 9 standard? If so, what happens when the trail period expires? Can I just downgrade back to the standard version or is a complete reinstall required?
Will I be able to collect responses from forms designed using LiveCyle with just Acrobat 9 standard, or is the collection dependent on the Pro version?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Joe

Okay, so I'll have to uninstall the standard version and install pro and once the trail period is up uninstall pro and reinstall standard.
What about collecting responses to forms created in pro using just standard? Is that possible?

  • Netflix trial question

Not sure whether or not to post this in the Apple TV section or here so I'll try here first.
I see to start the Netflix free trial you need to sign into your Apple iTunes account which is fine. My question is what happens at the end of the free trial period. Are you asked to continue the service or does it just start charging the service to your account? If I decide to NOT want Netflix at the end of the free trial period, or at anytime later for that matter, how does one goe about cancelling the subscription? From the Netfix section on the Apple TV I hope. Thanks in advance.

One thing I did myself was buy the Insignia Blu ray player with built in wi-fi and netflix streaming for each of the tv's in my home.  That would be one solution, and the Insignia players have worked great for me.

  • PrPro CS 6 Trial Question

I am looking for updated clarification on the PrPro CS 6 Trial. This is the latest Adobe KB Article, that I can find, and it is for CS 5.5: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/trial-version-limitations-premiere-pro.html
In another forum, I was told that a fully operational version of Encore is now included in the CS 6 Trial, but I cannot find confirmation of that. Can someone point me to information on the PrPro CS 6 Trial, regarding Encore?
    Thank you,
    Hunt

    Ann,
This was from a thread in the PrElements Forum, and a poster there wanted to try out Adobe Encore. Another poster told me that I was wrong, and that Encore was now included in the trial of PrPro CS 6, which would have been a major departure, but then changes do get made, such as the inclusion of more activated CODEC's, for the trial of PrPro, as of CS 5. That second poster claimed that with his trial of PrPro CS 6, Encore WAS an active part of it.
I had been able to find the "limitations" for CS 5.5, but was striking out on CS 6, so wanted to get clarification.
Thank you, and still not certain why it took so long for this question to propogate in the forum, but John C. (Adobe-Admin) is looking into that.

  • Worldwide calling free trial question

I live in Canada, and have set up my Skype account in Canada. I am looking at activating the one month Worldwide free calling trial that will allow calling to landlines and mobiles. I will be travelling in Europe, and would like to call home. One of the countries I will be in is France, and the fine print says this offer is not valid in France.
My question is as follows - since my Skype account was set up in Canada and I activated the one month worldwide calling in Canada, would I be able to make free calls via Skype to Canadian numbers while in France?

Yes, but any files you create with CS6 will not open in CS5. Also be aware that CS6 is already two versions out of date.

  • End of FCPX trial question

Er, just wanted to ask, I'm sure you'll get a prompt at the end of the 30 days asking you to update but will you be able to continue a half-started project?
Sorry if it's a silly question.

    It's not a silly question.
As Tom said, your events and projects are totally separate to the application.
They will be there after the trial version stops working. If you decide to purchase FCP X - just buy it, download it, and carry on working with your old events and projects as before.
You cannnot download the trial a second time.

  • How do I get rid of the trial question on my Premier elements - which I purchased in Jan 2014

I purchased my Adobe  Premier Elements in Jan 2014 - but now every time I use the program for editing and DVD burning it confronts me with a trial program (saying I have 2 days left on the trial) - how do I get rid of this trial Advertisement/program so that I can continue with the Premier Elements that I have already purchased?
         Thanks Brian Dearden@

    Mooivoel
The answer would be expected to be....
When you are given the Trial Message, click on the tab that says License The Product (or something like that) and then follow the instructions which will include inserting your purchased serial number.
Have you been there and done that?

  • Premiere Elements 11 (Trial) question

    Hello
What might be the reason why Premiere Elements 11 (Trial) will not open up when I double-click on its desktop icon?
I have successfully installed it today - but not used it - and I can see it in the Control Panel and there is a folder for it under Adobe in my Windows 7 Program Files folder on my C drive.
    Thanks
    Steve

You are correct. The only way to test that would be to install an nVidia, or AMD/ATI card, disable the Intel embedded chip, and install the latest driver from the mfgr's. Web site - then test.
For general computing, the video card/chip and its driver, are less important, and e-mail clients, word processors, spreadsheet programs, and Web browsers usually work just fine. However, with programs like PrE, 3D creation programs and extreme games, rely very heavily on the interface with the video driver. PrE needs that, just for running its GUI (Graphical User Interface). It is programs, in that latter group, that tax the video driver very heavily.
I would start with this FAQ Entry (if I have posted this link upthread, I apologize): http://forums.adobe.com/thread/792580?tstart=0 It starts with a general checklist on getting things set up and running for PrE. Then, it goes into some tips on tuning up one's computer and OS. Finally, it lists many troubleshooting tips, and links to some tools to help in that process, going from easy to harder. If you find, that after that article, things still do not work properly, that will narrow the focus to the video driver, with pretty high probability - though only the test outlined above, could verify that.
Though I have had Intel CPU's, since the first PC hit my desk in the 80's, I would not rely on one of their GPU chips, due to the lack of driver support, and always recommend that one go with an nVidia, or AMD/ATI chip set, instead. Going back some years, I was a fan of the Matrox video cards, especially on my graphic design computers. However, like Intel, Matrox was deficient in their driver support, so I finally dropped them for nVidia.
Even then, there can be developmental dead ends. My current laptop is about 5 years old, and has an nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX. I am still running XP-Pro SP-3 on it, and nVidia has not done a new driver for that chip and that OS, since mid-2012. All of my other Adobe programs run fine on it, except for PrE 11, which has some display issues. It's nothing that I cannot live with, especially as I have a new laptop on order. Still, and even with an nVidia chip, the driver support for it, with my older OS, has run its course. I, who always urge people to update their video drivers, am now out of luck - no new driver for that chip and OS - dead end.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Illustrator CC trial question

Does the trial version of Illustrator CC interfere in any way with running Illustrator CS5? For instance, after 30 days, has anyone had any problems if they did not switch to Illustrator CC? Can I run them simultaneously?
Also, does CC work with older font managers such as Suitcase Fusion 3?

You won't know until you try. Sometimes installing triels messes up the licnesing system, especialyl when peopel let them run out, necessitating a reinstall, but that does not occur always. With regards to your font manager, you may wish to temporarily turn it off or at least turn off auto-activation of font sets. this has been known to cause heavy crashes, if the font manager is not the latest compatible version.

  • CC trial question

I currently am running the trial version of all CC programs, to get a feel for them. Customer service offered me a pretty good deal at the end of my trials on 1/16/15, so i didn't want to pay until then, to get full use of Premiere.  Problem is, I used After Effects in the past and the trial has expired.  I fully intend on taking the offer and buying my subscription in January, after my Premiere trial, but wanted to use After Effects again to fully try it out too, as I didn't do much with it when I started my trial a few months back.  Is there any way of resetting my trial since I plan on buying in the not so distant future?  Thanks.

I don't think so, but This is an open forum with a mix of program users and Adobe staff, not Adobe support... you need Adobe support

If I download the trial of PS CS4 Extended and then later purchase the full version can I use the key from the full version to activate the trial?
Or would I have to uninstall the trial and install the full version?

In theory yes but, bearing mind all the problems being reported here, I wouldn't do it.

  • CC (PS & LR) Trial Question

I just downloaded the cc trial (PS & LR) to my new laptop. Can I transfer some of my actions or filters (portraiture) over to the trial and when I decide to upgrade will it retain my info? I only have so many times to download so I want to make sure. Thanks!

You can opt for cancelling the existing plan (there might be cancellation charge applicable) & go for the Amazon Deal.
You can repurchase from Adobe store as required as per the prevailing price at that time.
