LR4.1 RC2 Install - Threat activity detected by Norton Internet Security

I just installed LR4.1 RC2 and NIS detected and quarantined two DLLs:
mc_dec_mpa.dll
mc_enc_dv.dll
What do they do and is it safe to take these out of quarantine?

I previously installed LR4 Beta, LR4 Trial, and LR4.1 RC and NIS never discovered any threats.
I 'Restored & Excluded' these files for future recognition by NIS and LR4.1 RC2 launches and is playing video. Tally-Ho!

I cant install itunes on my laptop, i always could before. Norton internet security say its all in order from their end, it just keeps saying network error when i try and download itunes

I had itunes set up on my laptop and had no issue with it. Today i tried to import a cd but my disc drive wouldnt work so i had to restore my laptop. When i did this my cd drive worked by i couldn't install itunes. I contacted Norton internet security who i spent 2 hours online with while they went through all my internet security settings and they have said it is a problem at apples end. When i attempt to download it just says network failure. Please help!

What browser are you using and have you tried using a different one to dl the file?

Problem with Rescue and Recovery after installing Norton Internet Security 2010

Hi all.
It's my first time in this forum.
I have a problem, with Rescue and Recovery, after installing Norton Internet Security 2010 on my T43.
The message I get it:
"Rescue and Recovery is unable to back up the file 'C:\Documents and settings\all Users\Application Data\ Norton\ 00000082\00000109\000003c1\cltMLS1.bat' Because the file is either corrupted or being used by another application. Please close any application that could be using the file.
I tried to close the Norton but I couldn't find how.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
the reason for this situation is, that the antivir files are protected from being modified.
This is the reason, why this file cannot be backed up. I assume, that you would get much more such messages, as there are surelly multiple files files, that are protected like this.
So the solution is to block folders from being archived. Please start RnR application and in the configuration set this folder as the excluded one.
This will skip the backup of this file and will fix your situation.
Please let me know, if you have covered this.

There is no such Trojan or other malware known today that will do that using OS X nor has there ever been one. The most probable explanation is that somebody hacked into your e-mail account on the server, so you should change that password to something stronger right away. If it had come from your Mac then there would almost certainly be copies of those messages in your Sent Mail mailbox.

Recent install of Norton Internet Security 2007 and Itunes ver. 7.0.2.16

For Your Information-
Recently did an install of Norton Internet Security 2007. Before the install "I used the Norton removal tool to uninstall NIS 2004."
Install of NIS 2007 seemed to go OK until I later opened i-tunes and message appeared
"I Tunes not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CD's you must reinstall."
Opened i-tunes and clicked about to see if drivers/dll were present(where you see itunes version # as screen scrolls up). The driver/dll were not present.
I went to add/remove programs, highlighted itunes but instead of clicking on remove I clicked on "additional support information" where you are given the option to REPAIR. Did the repair/opened itunes and all seems to be OK for now

I think that always happens when you use the Norton removal tool.
A repair of install of iTunes worked for me too.

Did installing Firefox 4 disable my Norton 360 security or just the ion on the toolbar?

When I installed Firefox 4.0 I noticed it said something about my Norton 360 Security. Then I noticed the Norton icons were missing from my bottom menu bar. How do I know if my Norton is unaltered and still working?

The core functions such as anti-virus and firewall will still work, it is the add-ons for Firefox that need to be updated to work with Firefox 4.

I have Norton Internet Security and use their login system. I just installed 6.0 and the Norton automaticlog-in doesn't seem to be working.

i don't know the difference between a plug-in or extension. All I know is that my "automatic" log-in that I use with Norton is no longer functioning since I updated to 6.0

I save web site passwords, but it does not consistently enter them when I log onto the same site. Seems to have started occurring after I installed Norton Internet Security 2012. Anyone aware of this issue and how to resolve?

It works fine for a day or so, but seems to fail the next day.

Websites may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save the name and password.

Problems installing LR4.1 RC2

I have tried several times to install LR4.1 rc2 and it fails because it cannot find the .msi file....never had this problem before and a search on the computer does not show it as well....I simply download for Windows and extract. thoughts?

Had to work with technicians to figure the problem but have it fixed. Apparently the LR4.1 rc was corrupted so when I tried to delete it with the normal windows uninstall process, it gave an error message that it was on a network resource that was not available...wierd as I was not on the network..anyway, we went with a 3rd party uninstaller that was successful....and then ran the installer for the rc2...that appeared to work. Be interested to see if it crashes as I have a black bear photo opp the next several days...

Flashplayer installed and active but won't run

Hi. I seem to be having the same problem as several others on here: I've got the latest version of Flash installed and active on my Win8.1 system, and it shows as an active add-on in the latest version of Firefox, but it stalls on loading and won't run. This started immediately after the latest Flash update was released: I've tried uninstalling and re-installing.

I noticed that the page on adobe.com took a really long time to load for me as well on Chrome, but Adobe.com is super complex, and I think that has something to do with a poorly performing back-end service. Since you're seeing the slow script dialog not loading on the watch page, it's pretty clear that Flash Player is installed and playing content under normal circumstances. The interesting part is that one of those dialogs is talking about JavaScript running on the page, and the other is talking about Flash. It's unclear without debugging the issue whether it's the browser or the plugin; however, as you've noticed, both work fine in Internet Explorer.
It's important to point out that both Adobe and Microsoft made a tremendous effort in tuning the Internet Explorer experience for Windows 8 and higher. The latest versions of IE offer a fast, modern plug-in architecture that efficiently offers defense-in-depth protection against the modern generation of security threats (as opposed to the sandboxing approach that we retrofit to Firefox). Similarly, Google Chrome provides a modern, secure plug-in architecture and invests heavily in making the Flash experience in the browser great. I'm a Firefox fan as well, but the reality is that you might be more satisfied with your experience when using a different browser.
For the crash, I'd be happy to take a look at the crash analysis to see if I can find anything useful.
In Firefox, if you type about:crashes in the address bar, you should get a list of recent crashes.
Click each link to submit it to the Mozilla crash reporting system.

Catalog optimizing needed after import / LR4.1 RC2

When applying any changes (cropping is the worst) on the photo after import and returning to grid view, updating the preview seems to take 30 sec or so. On the top of the histogram there is a text 'calculating'. This affects also the earlier imported photos, but the time is a bit shorter. During the time LR is unusable. Even the mouse is sluggish.
Optimizing catalog fixes the problem, but obviously that has to be done after every import. After optimizing, creating the preview takes 2 sec max.
- LR4.1 RC2 (The problem has been there since LR4.0, where I experienced severe other performance problems. Now it seems to be running relatively well, except the problem described here.)
- Win7 x64
- 6 GB RAM
- Intel Q9550
- LR and Win7 installed on a SSD, lrdata and lrcat as well
- Raw cache and photos on a traditional hard disk

On a Mac, Lightroom 4.1 should replace Lightroom 4.1 RC2 as well.
However, curiously, it was still _named_ "Lightroom 4.1 RC2" on my computer. Which was suboptimal. I ended up just deleting it from /Applications and re-installing.

LR4 crashes after installing PSCS6

Hello,
LR 4 crashes (hangs) when I switch to the Develop module. This appears since I have installed Photoshop CS6.
I can't find any info on this issue on this forum or anywhere else.
Can someone help me out on this?

What I did in the time passed by between posting my question and reading your reply:
- removing LR 4.0 from my system
- removing PSCS6 from my system
- installing PSCS6 again
- installing LR 4.1 RC2
- installing CameraRaw 7.1
This did not solve the hang-up of LR4 when I switched (from any module in LR4) to the develop module
I then read your resonse
I removed LR 4.1 RC2 again and relocated the entire LR settings folder
I installed LR 4.1 RC2 again, so I had a clean install and a clean LR settings folder
Unfortunately I still have the hang-up when I switch (from any module) to the develop module.
I'm getting a bit desperate now, I'm a professional photographer highly depending on LR4

Installing and activating Creative Suite 6 Design Standard on two computers?

Hello!
I purchased Creative Suite 6: Design Standard as a physical copy (with a CD) about a couple of years ago. I've installed it on my iMac, but now that I purchased a Mac Book Pro, I'd also like to install the package on the laptop. My new Mac Book Pro 13" with Retina display does not have a CD/DVD drive.
First of all, is it possible to have an Adobe package installed and activated on two computers simultaneously?
I tried to download the Creative Suite 6 from the Downloads on Adobe website and activate it on my laptop with the serial number that I received when I purchased the product, but the serial number did NOT work. It says "The serial number you entered is invalid." Does this problem occur because the serial number is in use on the Creative Suite, which is installed and activated on my iMac?
Is there another way to download + install + activate the package on my laptop? Obviously without a CD/DVD drive I cannot use the physical installation CD that I purchased.

The serial number seems to be the issue.. I don't know why it won't go through. Do I need a different serial number to activate a Creative Suite 6 Design Standard downloaded from the Adobe website? I used the same serial number that can be found on the back of the product box that I purchased a couple of years ago. So far I have installed and activated my product only with my iMac, and now attempting to activate it with my Mac Book Pro, so the problem is not that it's been activated too many times.
When I finally do manage to activate this software also on my laptop, do I have to deactivate and activate it every time I wish to switch from one computer to the other? Is there a limit to how many times it can be activated/deactivated?

We are still facing the same problem.
At the moment there is no time to investigate this problem.
In our case this track contains only 3 portal apps, so we are deploying these applications manually.
