LR4.1 reverts to LR3 with history change!

Hard to explain, but I have a couple screenshots to illustrate.
I'm working on an image. When I go to Develop module, the sliders all look like LR3 sliders. (exposure, recovery, fill light, blacks etc) After attempting twice to update to current process (explanation point) and nothing happening, I made several other adjustments and I was then able to update to current process. Suddenly the slider labels all changed to LR4 appearance (exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows)
If I go back in the history, all sliders revert to LR3 appearance...and vice versa
I now have LR3/4 installed simultaneously!
iMac OSX 10.7.4
2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 gb ram
LR 4.1
Have had 4.1 for a month, everything works fine.
*edit* I see this is happening with other images too- is this supposed to happen? Weird that I never noticed, if so...

I am running LR with a win7 32bit system and have LR3.6 and LR4.1 installed on the same system.
My LR4.1 behaves in the same way in regards to the appearance of the Development Module:
- pictures from the converted catalog of LR3.6 show the exclamation mark icon at lower right corner and - as long as not updated to new process version - the development sliders are identical to the ones in LR3.6
- after conversion to new process engine by clicking the icon,  the sliders do change to the new ones.
- it only seems logical to me that the history module changes the appearance of sliders once you roll back to "before conversion" - to the sliders of the previous process engine.
The only disturbing thing is the fact that you can click this icon without effect.  And, you actually can have an effect after doing some adjustments.  This part of your posting looks like a bug to me.

I change the setting click ok but it reverts back to rember history. I just cannot change the setting. This also happend in the prevous version.

To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
You need to make at least one change to make "Use Custom settings" stay selected.
If all history settings are the default then the History and Cookie setting revert to "Remember history" the next time you open Tools > Options > Privacy.

I have my FireFox browser set to delete all the history when I close the window. It was working for a very long time and has recently stopped with no changes to the settings. This has happened once before and I deleted FireFox and re-downloaded it, that solved the problem for a short period of time but the issue has come up again. How can I fix this?

Can you check your configuration again? Maybe something went pear-shaped somewhere. It's located in Tools | Options | Privacy and then click the Settings button (see screenshot).

  • Authorization to change BOM with history requirements

    Hi Techies,
I m facing an issue now with respect to authorisation of changing BOM with history requirements. Our quality system was a copy from a production server which was used for CRM before. Usually in SAP when we change a BOM with a change number we cant again change it back without a change number.
In our case it is not providing an error but it is providing a warning. Now my requirement is to change this warning message to error message. So that people wont change BOM without a change number.
I tried to enter the transaction SU24 and found the authorizaton C_STUE_NOH with proposal YS. Then i tried to change the filed value to ' ' (NO) and saved it.
But still i m not able to change the warning message to error message.
Is there any other setting i need to carry out for this.
Please help me with this issue.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Regards,
    Kris.S

    Dear Krishu,
Below has been mentioned in OSS note: 420878. Check once again you have save as NO. Then go to tcode SU03 Object Class PP/ C_STUE_ROH
    Summary
    Symptom
In Customizing of the BOM, the history requirement is set or a BOM requires a history. Despite this, it is possible to process BOMS without engineering change management. The system only processes a warning message (29 045) which can be skipped.
    Additional key words
    CS02, change number, OS27, W045(29)
    Cause and prerequisites
    Authorization profile
    Solution
Check the authorization profile of the respective user.
    Example:
             C_STUE_NOH <OBJ>
                &_SAP_ALL    <AUT>
                    NOHIS      <FLD>
would have the authorization to process BOMs requiring history without a change number. In this case, if you change '*' to ' ' in NOHIS, you will no longer receive a warning, but rather an error message.

    Hello check this SPRO settings ;
    Engineering Change Management Setup
This are the basic IMG settings in order to used the engineering change management
    features.
    x refers to a tick.
First setup the control data in OS54.
    Revision sections
    Fields :-
    Revision level active            x
    Ext. revision level              x
    Higher revision level            x
    Object Management Record sections
    Fields :-
    Object maintenance               x
    Assign alternative date          x
    Overide value/assignment date sections
    Fields :-
Only with leading change mst.    x
Setting the Revision level active is to activate the engineering change management for
material master.  If you do not want the engineering change management for materials,
    remove the tick.
With a tick in "Higher revision level", the new revision level has to be always higher
    than the old revision.
Secondly, setup the external number range in OS53.
If you use the internal number range, then remove the external number range.
Third, define the status for the change master records in transaction SM30 - V_T419S.
Change No.     Chg        Date Chg     Dist. Lock      Description
    Status         Poss
      1             x            x             ' '         Active
      2            ' '          ' '            ' '         Inactive
      3            ' '          ' '             x          Locked
Fourth, define modification parameters for the BOM in OS27.
    Fields :-
    BOM Validty Maint.               x
    EC Management Active             x
    History Requirement             ' '
    Unit Piece                      PC
The rest of the fields are blank.
If the History Requirement is tick, every time during creation of the BOM, SAP will
prompt your for an ECN number as is compulsory.
Lastly, define fields selection for routing in OP5A.
PP task lists: initial screen -> Change number -> Transaction code -> Tick Req.
Setting the Transaction code fields Required indicate that you have make the ECN number
    compulsory when changing the routing.
Finally, do a test by making changes to the Material Master, BOM and Routing.

  • Is there a way to back up a step or undo a step in Camera Raw, like you can do when you are in PS with history?

While in camera raw, editing a photo, is there a way to back up a step or undo a step like you can do when you are in PS with history?

johnh316, There is no so called Backup step. However, you can undo the changes using Ctrl+Z.
Else, suggestions given by JJMack are worth following.
Since you are using Camera Raw, you can anytime revert back to the default state by going choosing "Camera Raw Defaults" from the Options Menu.

  • Should I Avoid LR4 and Get LR3 Because of My Huge Hierarchical Keyword List?

I abandoned LR2 several years ago because it crashed from my hierarchical list of 12,000 keywords. (Botanical and common names and other terms.) I have been using CS5/Camera Raw/Bridge to manage and edit my images. The hierarchical list is necessary for my stock photo business.
I will soon be needing to compare and edit images for a book publication and gallery show and I am thinking I may need to return to LR so I can work more effciently.  I do not care about not exporting some keywords or synonyms etc.  I think (right now anyway) that it is fine that all keywords associated with the images get exported for my stock submissions. I  ususally check off only the sub-keywords or sub-sub-sub keywords.
    Here are my questions:
    1) Is LR 3 able to handle my huge list of hierarchical keywords which is now larger than 12,000 words?
    2) Should I upgrade to LR3 and not to LR4 to avoid the keyword mess I have been reading about but don't understand very well?
    3) Is it possible to even upgrade to LR3 now that LR4 is released?
    3)  Would LR4 handle my keywords better or worse than LR2?  Than LR3?
    4) Is there a work efficiency reason to upgrade to CS6 without using any version of LR and continue using Bridge and Camera Raw as I have been?
    5) Is there anything else I have not thought to ask? I am somewhat technically challenged and dread learning new software, having been burned in the past with ExpressionsMedia disaster and LR2 which crashed etc.
Thanks for any and all input from the forum!

I try to answer your questions. I also have a large list of hierarchical keywords (funny ... also botanical names) but not as much as you have.
    1) I think that Lr3 is able to handle your list of keywords. I have not heard from anybody that there is a limit to the number of keywords that Lr is able to handle.
    2) There seem to be some keyword issues in Lr4. My keywords were perfectly fine in Lr3 but after upgrading to Lr4 some of my keywords were not populated, meaning that the keywords themselves were listed in the keyword list but the image count showed 0. I still have my Lr3 catalog so was able to check (with Lr3) that, indeed, in Lr3 all the keywords in question were populated with the correct number of images. Fortunately there were not too many of these not-populated keywords, so I corrected the issue manually.
Since correct keywords are mandatory for your stock business, you are right in hesitating to upgrade to Lr4. In my opinion, the improvements that Lr4 offers over Lr3 are mainly in areas that are - probably - not so important to a stock business: improvements in the Develop Module and new Process Version, the Book Module, the map Module. On the other hand I would think that image management is paramount for you and in this area Lr4 is not much different than Lr3.
    3) You will not be able to get an upgrade to Lr3 from Adobe now that Lr4 has been released. So you had to find a 3rd party vendor (B&H? Amazon?) who still sells Lr3.
    4) Apart from the issue described above, I don't see any difference in keyword handling between Lr3 and Lr4. Lr2 is too far back for me - I don't remember.
    5) My suggestion for you would be: You have to upgrade at some point. The longer you wait, the more difficult the transition will be because the differences of future versions to Lr2 will become greater. Since at the moment version 4.1 is in the works (there have been two RCs (Release candidates) of version 4.1 already), maybe it would be wise to wait until the final 4.1 version is out. maybe the keyword issues have been fixed.
    6) You can "upgrade" to Lr4 and still have Lr2 on your system. All the Lr versions are stand-alone versions, not "plug-ins" for the previous versions. So you can have two (or more) different Lr versions on your system. So I would suggest that you upgrade to Lr 4.1 (once this version is out) but leave Lr2 on your system. When you Lr4 you will be asked if you want to upgrade your Lr catalog to Lr4 and you have the option of saving the Lr4 catalog as a different file, so that your Lr2 catalog is still available for Lr2 (Lr2 will not be able to work with the Lr4 catalog!). That way, if anything is amiss in Lr4 you can go back to Lr2 and work from there.

  • View of Date track history change field summary

    Hi experts,
In Oracle HRMS, we have the function "Date Track History" in People/assignment. In the summary window of Date Track history, we have column which is named "Change Field Summary". For reporting purpose, I am looking for the view/function/package/... which can show type of data.
    For example:
    - If I give certain assignment number/assignment id, view/function can return "Birth Date, Full Name, Known As" in "Change Field Summary".
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Vigneswar,
    Thanks for reponse.
The view PER_ASSIGNMENT_HISTORY_VIEW shows data changes in columns, it is similiar with HRFV_PERSON_ASSIGNMENT_HISTORY view. However It does not show us which columns were changed like in "Date track history change field summary" window. I don't have access to Unix server, so that I can't do the trace stuff.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Suddenly stopped getting dialog to edit with LR changes when opening in Photoshop

I have LR4 and PS CS5. Edited several photos this morning without a problem --But this evening, after editing in LR, clicked command+E to open in Photoshop- as I always do, but didn't get the dialog that gives me the option to edit with LR changes. The files are opening as raw instead of TIFF all of a sudden! I have done nothing different aside from updating the Kubota dashboard. Could that have messed things up? This is such a mystery and I have a job to finish! HELP!
I deleted the Kubota plug-in since that was the only thing I did out of the ordinary but still no luck. I am deserate to get images edited in LR transferred to PS WITH THE EDITS! Why would it work one minute and not the next???
Just tried to edit in Color Efex from Lightroom and got the dialogue. So...it's only happening with Photoshop. PLEASE help! I tried uninstalling Photoshop and reinstalling with updated Camera Raw 6.7 plugin. No luck....I need to finish a job!
    It worked fine this morning!

With ACR 6.7 installed to Photoshop CS5, even a PV2012 image coming from LR can be opened OK by Photoshop, with all adjustments correct - just the same in this respect, as when using CS6 with ACR 7.
AFAICT the difference being, ACR 6.7 is capable of making a "straight through" conversion employing the 2012 process version, but lacks any interface in which to view and adjust that.
So I suspect the issue here, is not that LR is doing anything wrong. Photoshop's settings need to allow an image that Lr is passing it, to open directly into the editor, wihtout trying to interact with that using the ACR window along the way. This  also means, you cannot properly interact with a Smart Object from inside PS, using ACR 6.7, either - when the image develop parameters involved belong to PV2012 (though you can, when these belong to an earlier PV).
IMO the solution probably lies in your PS or your ACR settings - whatever is in effect invoking ACR automatically when PS opens a TIFF. This is what you do not want to happen, for PV2012.
Prior to ACR 6.7, you would have needed to instead select the option "Render in LR" in order to see PV2012 adjustments properly. And you could still do that - leaving ACR with nothing to do, and so making its version compatibility moot - provided it stays out of the way..
Also, I believe that when instead of using the Ctrl+E or "Edit in PS" command, you make and use a named external editing preset, the interaction between LR and PS changes whereby an already-saved file is made on disk before PS sees anything. The other way, what PS opens is an as-yet-unsaved image.
[edit: one reason you are now not seeing a dialog that you did see before, is that ever since you installed ACR 6.7, Lr now realises that Ps has a 2012-compatible conversion - so you now stop getting the incompatibility warning that earlier ACR versions would have flagged up. If the dialog in question has been set to "always do this" (whatever "this" is) then you will just see LR and PS attempt to do that, without asking.
In Lr Preferences, General tab, you can "Reset all warning dialogs".]

  • Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/History/Changes/

Hello everyone, i've recently had some trouble with corrupted Aperture library. This has all been fixed now however in the process of trying to fix things up I stumbled accross Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/History/Changes/ folder - I've been trying to clear some space from my HDD and notice that this folder is enourmous. Almost as large as the preview, master or thumbnail folders.
It measures over 40gb which accounts for over 20 per cent of my library size. What excectly does this folder do (Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/History/Changes). There a hundreds of plist files measuring several 100mb each.
I know I can safely delete things like preview and thumbnail and rebuilt the database however have been hestitant to touch this folder as I don't know what it does. Can someone shed some light on the purpose of this folder. Google searches have just come up with threads about disk warrior reporting the folder as having errors but doesn't say what the folder does. Can I delete to save space? I'm concerned this folder contains the changes made to masters meaning i can't revered changes in the versions.

Just as a test I took one of my libraries that I do this sort of thing to and removed the Changes folder and ran Aperture on the library. Aperture worked fine. The library behaved just as expected.
I've never paid much attention to this folder before and it's not clear just what 'changes' they are referring to but I wouldn;t get to worked up about it. Just make sure you have good working backups (as you should have anyway) and remember the next time you run DiskWarrior you'll probably see these errors.
    regards

  • QM-MIC with history

    Dears
Please guide me what is difference b/w Master insp. characteristics with history and MICs without history. Also b/w UD with history and without history.

    Hi Ahmad,
As truly said by Jagdish, system will create new version with every change in MIC, & thus keeps the change record. This can be automated by activating the check Box in my IMG customizing.
SPRO->Quality Management->Basic Settings--->Maintain Settings at Plant Level, select any Plant details and click the check Box "Insp. Characteristics Are Maintained with History", before checking it press F1 to the field to know the further details.
    E.g.
If you set this indicator, all released versions for the inspection characteristics are stored. If you access a released version using the function "Change inspection characteristic", the system creates a new version.
Pls do refer the link to clear your doubts.

  • LR4 raw converter compatible with CS5 extended?

Hi right now I have LR3 and CS5 extended which is all I need but LR4 seems a real improvement. However CS5 extended was expensive and manages everything I want to do so will the raw converter in LR4 be directly compatible with CS5 or will Adobe insist that I buy CS6 to attain current compatibility?

exactly. But the plugin for Photoshop is not available as yet. As far as I know that has to await PS CS6.
Lightroom is a complete stand alone program and while ACR and LR use the same process engine you need Photoshop CSx with the ACR plugin while LR has ACR as a core component.
Lightroom does not need any other Adobe product installed on you computer for it to be fully functional.

  • I have to select a file – get Info – and change – open with and change from preview to another program and CHANGE ALL everytime I boot up

Why do I have to select a file – get Info – select – open with – and change from Preview to another program and click CHANGE ALL with every file extention everytime I boot up.

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
The first step should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
