LR4.3 - "No photos or videos were found to import" error (URGENT)

someone help me please...
I have a folder of around 6GB worth of photos (all in JPEG format, and all taken using Nikon D7000 on the same day), then when I imported them into LR4.3, only around 100+ were imported. I then tried to import the remaining photos, but an error came out an said "no photos or videos were found to import"... help me pls...
- Windows 8 (64-bit)
- Lightroom 4.3
- 4.0 GB RAM

Are you certain that they haven't already been imported?

  • "No photos or videos were found to import"

I get the "No photos or videos were found to import" alert. This initially happened when I tried to download from the card via a card reader. Had no success, so I downloaded the images to the HD and tried the add from current location, and get the same issue.
I shot these files with a Nikon D7000. I have a few hundred Raw files, and about a dozen .mov's. I am using the most recently updated LR 4.1, and I am using OSx 10.7.4 on a Quad Core Mac pro 2.66. This is the 2nd time that this has happend to me. But the first seemed like a fluke as some of the images imported and others did not. I did not have trouble importing the images to my laptop.
I would suspect that this was a card (Sandisk extreme 16gig) but have not had other problems and since the earlier images downloaded to another machine, it seemed ok. Additionally, I also just noticed that my image were dated "tomorrow" and wondered if that had anything to do with it.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Chris

since you are shooting RAW, please state the camera and version of Lightroom.
You have the symptoms of the situation where the photos have been previously imported into Lightroom, and perhaps accidentally imported into a different directory. So, you need to search Lightroom for one of these photos by file name. In order to do the search, you must first do ALL of these three things before searching:
go to the Catalog Panel on the left, click on All Photographs
    Expand all stacks
Turn off all filters (Ctrl/Cmd-L once or twice)

  • HT201302 What if I get a message "No photos or videos were found on this device" though I know there are hundreds of photos on my iphone?

I have hundreds of photos that I have taken using the Camera and Camera + apps on my iphone 4S, and am now trying to copy those photos on to my Thinkpad PC (Windows 7).  But I get a messge "No photos or videos were found on this device".  Not sure what I am need to do to copy the photos.  Appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

It sounds like you are using an application to import. You can do it manually.
Start > Computer (on the right) > scroll to the bottom and you will see your iPhone under Portable Devices > Open it and you will see a Drive, open that and there will be a DCIM folder. That is where your photos will be (There may be other folders each holding photos).

  • "No photos were found to import"

This is a recurring problem in LR3.2 (WIN/Vista) for me, and none of the forum answers seem to address what I am experiencing.
I have a folder on my hard-drive that contains 10 images. Of the 10, 5 are .psd, and 5 are .jpg. Each of the 10 images have unique file names (unique.psd), so there is no stacking involved of like named images here. I select the folder in LR3.2, and it shows 5 of the .psd, and 2 of the .jpg files. I click “Library>Synchronize“ and the Synchronize dialog window opens. It has found 3 new photos to import. The radio button (Import new photos (3) is checked, so I then click the ”Synchronize“ button. The ”Import files at there current location“ bar at the top left shows that the ”Task completed“, then an error pops up stating, ”No photos were found to import“. So no images actually get imported. This has happened to me on many different folders, (at least 6) and each time there are unique images on the hard drive but not imported to LR3.2.
All of the images are 8 bit, and are found in different folders of my catalog. I have a master file where originals are stored, and then a seperate folder where images are exported for upload. I need to manage the upload folders seperately for my business.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Regards

I'm getting this too on Nikon raw files, all from a batch of files/folders of a three day shoot in Big Sur. LR3 has decided it doesn't want to import day two folder photos. It does import day 1 & 3 with no problem. I've changed the master folder names to have unique names, sub folder names have been changed. Next on to changing file names (big hassel!)

  • I updated my iPad but all my photos and videos were gone and it's the first time i've updated it.

I wanted to put my photos into a folder through my iPad but I couldn't.
So for the first time ever since I bought my iPad 2 years ago, I connected it through my daughter's MacBook and connect to iTunes.
iTunes prompted me to update my iOS to the currect version.
When I do so, all my photos and videos were gone. Those photos were important so how do I retireve it all back?

Ok if your running the latest version of iTunes on your pc or mac go on iTunes connect your iPad to your MacBook using your USB cable and wait for it to respond then click restore to whatever version you were on when you had your photos then backup on iTunes and upgrade then when your update finished and  your done with the setup on your iPad click restore from backup. Hope this helps! :)

  • I recently updated my iPhone to 5.0.1. My update went great, but when updating my wifes, all her photos and videos were lost. Is there a way to retrieve them?

I recently updated my iPhone. My update went great, but after updating my wifes, all her pictures and videos were missing. Is there a way to retrieve them?

Was a backup done prior to the update? If so, restore the backup.
As designed, the Camera Roll on the iPhone is temporary storage.  Copy the pictures/videos off to the computer the device normally syncs with then sync the desired pics/vids back to the device via iTunes.

  • After installing iOs5 onto my iPhone, all my photos and videos were deleted? How do I get them back?

I got the iOs5 update for my iPhone and I just checked my videos and photos in the camera roll and there is none there. It's all gone. Why? iTunes didn't ask me if I wanted to save my photos or what not, it just asked me if it wanted to back up my apps and stuff, which I said yes. Is there a way I can get my pictures and videos back?

Some conspiracy is going on . I upgraded my iphone and before upgrade, obviously iTunes backed up my iphone. After upgrade, lost all my contacts and I feel the icloud *****. Trying to contact apple asks me to pay for support. Isn't this annoying, on one side they keep reminding you to upgrade to new ios and then when you upgrade, you loose everything. Not happy right now

  • How do I fix orientation of photos after they were changed after importing iPhoto library into new Photo app in Yosemite?

When I switched over to the new Photos app in Yosemite v10.10.3 and imported my iPhoto library to it, random photos in my library had their orientation changed. Some are upside down and some are turned on their side. I have a huge photo library, so this is frustrating. Hoping I don't have to go in and fix each one. I tried rebuilding my library by lauching Photo holding down option+command, but that didn't fix anything. Please help! Mahalo!

You do not have duplicate albums or photos.
    Photo Stream
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/photo-stream.html
The Camera Roll is for photos/videos that were captured by your iPhone, and for a photo saved from a received email, MMS, or from a website. These photos are also placed in the Photo Stream to be synced with your computer and/or with another iOS 5 device. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
All photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process are stored in the iPhone's Photo Library. The photos in the folders or albums below include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. The photos are not duplicated taking up double the storage space. This way you can view the photos in a particular folder or album below only by selecting the folder or album, or you can view all photos in all folders or albums be selecting Photo Library.
    This cannot be changed.
Removing photos or folders/albums of photos from your iPhone that were transferred from your computer via the Tunes process is done in the same way - via the iTunes sync process.

  • ICloud Photo Library: How do I transfer photos and videos only from my iPhone to my iPad but not from my iPad to my iPhone?

I had iCloud photo libraey turned on on both my iPad and iPhone. As said by the feature, photos and videos were being transferred automatically from each device to each other. I have a 64GB iPad Air 2 and my iPhone 5 only has 16GB of storage so I am lacking much more space on my iPhone than my iPad. I was wondering if there was a way to transfer photos only from my iPhone to my iPad but not from my iPad to my iPhone. Would turning off iCloud Photo library on my iPad do the trick? Thanks hope someone can help me out.

iCloud Photo Library keeps all of your photos in the Cloud which you then can selectively download. So, unless you download the iPad photos, they are not going to be taking up any room on your iPhone:
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

  • I plugged in my iPhone to my computer and it erased all of my photos and videos, is there anyway I can get them back?

I plugged in my iPhone to my computer and it erased all of my photos and videos, is there anyway I can get them back?
The photos and videos were obviously taken before I plugged it in and I didn't get a chance to back it up. It just synced and erased everything once I plugged it in. The photos and videos were very important to me and it would mean everything to me to get them back. Please help.

There is more to the story than you're letting on. Possibly prompts from iTunes on your compute when you plugged in the phone that you didn't read before selecting an option...
The bottom line is, if they are not on your computer as a result of the sync, and you didn't back them up previously, then they are gone.

  • IPhone 6 photo and video retrieval after restoring backup from my old iPhone 5 unit

    Hi,
I was so excited to use my new iPhone 6 and started taking photos and videos with it. Not to mention that the photos and videos were of my all-time favorite artist during his much-awaited concert . When I got home, I forgot to download all the media files first to my desktop before performing "restore backup" via iTunes so all my old iPhone 5 settings could be duplicated in my new iPhone. Now, I can only access the photos/videos taken from my iPhone 5 in my iPhone 6. Not sure if I could still retrieve the new photos/videos taken recently using my iPhone 6 when they seem to have been overwritten by my old iPhone files. Please help.
    Thanks!

Correction: the message that iTunes hangs at for hours on end was "Waiting for changes to be applied".

  • How can I recover accidentally deleted photos and videos?

My sister sorted the photos into albums in my dad's ipad then she deleted all the photos from camera roll. Surely, all photos and videos were erased. Please help me. There are many pictures there that I need for my wedding. I badly need them.

Unless you backed up your iPad to iCloud or to a computer, they are gone. You cannot safely recover photos from the iPad.
