LR4 book PDF export error

Export always fails if there is a double page spread image.
Has anyone got this to work? Or just a 4.0 bug...?

If I choose type of book as "BLURB" and export as pdf - it always fails and crashes at ABOUT 80% in my experience.
Make sure you set your book type to "PDF" then export work.
BUT, the issue I had is that those PDF's don't render properly on ipads and Blackberry playbooks. They're OK on a desktop in Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Just the background color renders - NO photos.
I've posted that with no repsonse yet.

Thanks for the support Brad, i have tried to download and install diadem 11.1 but  it didn't solve the problem.
After that i've tried to search in the amyuni forum for a solution and i found out this (it solved my problem)
    Windows Vista:
Make sure that you are logged in as Windows administrator.
Click the Windows button and click Printers.
Right-click the Diadem pdf Export and select Properties
Click the Ports tab, then click the Add Port button.
Note: If the Ports tab is greyed out, right-click the Diadem Pdf Export icon and select Run as admin.
Select Local Port and click the New Port button.
Enter PDF1 for the new port name and click OK. Close the Printer Ports window.
Put a checkmark in the box next to the PDF1 port if it is not already checked.
    Click on the Advanced tab.
Select the Spool print documents radio button to make the options below it clickable.
Clear (uncheck) the box labeled Enable advanced printing features by clicking it.

  • PDF Export Error (-50)

    Hi,
We are getting an export error Internal Error (-50) when exporting to PDF on two user machines.  All other machines work fine and also if I log onto the workstation as an Administrator.
    Any ideas?
    Jacques

    Hi Jacques,
All internal errors mean external resource not available. It is not B1 problem. You need to check PDF writer to see if you can print PDF files from those 2 clients.
    Thanks,

  • LR4 - unable to export error

When I export photos from LR4 to a hard drive folder, I'll get the following error message:
    Unable to Export
An internal error has occurred: Win32 API Error 2 ("The system cannot find the file specified.") when calling ShellExecuteExW from AgWorkspace.shellExecute
The photos do export and are in the folder that I chose.  I'm running 64-bit Win 7.  Any ideas on how to eliminate the error message?

It probably means that the "Post Processing" field at the bottom of the Export panel is blank (default should be 'Do Nothing'). This has cropped up a few times since the LR4 beta started. Simply enter a valid option and the error should disappear.

  • PDF export error

In my report i need to show some text like "Manual & Basic are included". So i have written this into static text view, included view in compound layout. But when i trying print this report in PDF format it is giving me error
    "Sax Parser returned an exception:...etc"
The problem is with &, SAX parser is not able to convert this character to PDF. What is the solution for this? How to escape this kind of characters?
I tried with & amp; too. But it is not working.
    Any help appreciated.
    thanks

Yes, this is correct. The Sax parser (while really good at Jazz) is rubbish when it comes to '&'s.
This may be related to metalink logged Bug 6486142 - "WRITE BACK NOT WORKING IF THERE IS '&' IN THE TEXT - Sax Parser Error", and has an expected fix version of 10.1.3.4.
I doubt there's a work around to be honest, other than the obvious 'and'.

  • PDF Export Hangs

I'm exporting a report using PDF export in Diadem 11.2.0f4178 and it just hangs with no error message. I'm running windows 7 64 bit. I also have Diadem 11.3.0f4563 installed and it does the same thing.
I can print to adobe pdf, but when i generates the report its doesnt not copy the page names (which on 100 page report is a bit of a problem). A solution to either would resolve this.
Anyone have the same problem or know of a fix?

I found a solution from another thread that worked for me:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/DIAdem/Windows-vista-ultimate-64-bit-PDF-export-error/m-p/978241/highlight/t...

  • Book Module: Export to PDF and Blurb stops with error at two page spread

I have a 66 page book created in the book module..
When exporting to PDF the export stops with the error:
"An error occurred while saving the book.
There was an error creating the PDF file. "
The same occurs (at the same book page) when exporting to BLURB
"An error occurred while creating the book."
The creation or export always stops at the same page which is a two page spread. Interestingly there is a two-page spread before that didn't throw an error. I tried to move the problem page to the end of the book. That didn't help because the next two page spread in the book throws an error.
    Any ideas or help?
    Lightroom version: 4.0
Computer: Windows 7, Quadcore, 8 GB RAM

Hi, sorry I do not have a solution but I too have a very similar issue in that the book is the same size but the export to PDF does not start at all
I have tried reducing the image dpi settings. Jpg quality and still nothing
The only success I have had is if I duplicate the book, delete all but 8 pages and then export at full dpi settings of 300 and 100 percent jpg quality
    Any more pages and nothing
It's a great tool and would buy it if this feature actually worked. Oh yeah I only have the trial version at the minute to give it a good thorough test
I have looked for solutions but like your query they are all unanswered
Does adobe actually offer any support or is this all user solutions?
Did you find a solution by the way?

  • Book Module Export PDF Quality Poor - any solutions?

    Hello,
I am trying to figure out a solid solution / workflow for making PDF porfolio's for clients.
The commercial studio where I work needs to send pdf portfolio's to potential clients quite often.
So far we have not been able to find a perfect solution on how to do this with any adobe product (including ACROBAT!)
one of 2 things seem to continually happen.
    1. Gigantic file sizes for decent quality PDF's (75 mb +)
    2. Horrible color shifts and degraded picture quality for usably sized (3-7mb) portfolio's.
I was hopeful that the new Book Module in LR4 would solve this issue.
admitedly the quality is better IF I save it at jpeg quality 100 and a dpi of 240 but this resulted in a 74 MB file (for 31 images on a 8x10 page)
I clearly can not send a file that large with email....
as soon as I make the dpi or jpeg quality lower they look like total garbage...
Further more the colors shift greatly (on the lower res versions) when opened in something other then Acrobat reader (ie Mac Preview)
Could someone please share a workflow that will result in profesional quality PDF's at a screen resolution.
    We have / use the CS5 suite / LR4 / Acrobat Pro
In short as a PRO studio I want PRO quality our of my PRO software...
I would like to keep it as simple and streamlined as possible.
and if at all possible do it all within LR4.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

Thanks, I haven't used the LR4 Book module that much and only saw the 'Export Book to PDF' button at the left-bottom of the screen. I tried a Book module 'PDF' Export using 7x7 size, Quality 80, sRGB, 150 dpi, and Standard Glossy sharpening. Here are the results:
    1) PDF file size = 3.3 MB
    2) Standard Optimized PDF (Acrobat 9 compatibility) = 3.2 MB
I next tried the 'Export Book to PDF' button:
    3) PDF file size = 4.8 MB
    4) Standard Optimized PDF (Acrobat 9 compatibility) = 975 KB
When viewed on my 25" 1920 x1080 monitor on Windows 7 64bit in Acrobat 9 Pro at 'Fit to Page' zoom size all four PDF files look identical in color and sharpness. When viewed in 'Full Screen' mode only the largest file size PDF (#3 above) created using the 'Export Book to PDF' button exhibits good sharpness. This is probably due to the size of the exported JPEG image having insufficient resolution to fill the screen at 100% (1:1 pixel mapping):
    7" x 7" Book at 150 dpi = 6.88" x 150 = 1032x 1032 (Mapped to my 1920 x 1080 monitor)
    Requires 1080/6.88" = 157 dpi minimum
    7" x 7" Book at 170dpi = 6.88” x 170= 1170 x 1170 (Mapped to your 2560 x 1440 monitor)
    Requires 1440/6.88" = 210 dpi minimum
I next created a Book PDF file (3.7 MB) with the above calculated 157 dpi for my 1920 x1080 monitor viewing in Full Screen mode. The results are as sharp as the full-size ‘Export Book to PDF’ file (4.8 MB). I then tried a PDF optimization of the 4.8 MB file using Acrobat Optimization downsample setting of 157 dpi for images above 235 dpi and obtained an equally sharp file 1.0 MB in size. So this method still seems to produce a smaller file than obtainable direct from the LR Book module.
For your NEC MultiSync PA271w monitor with higher 2560 x1440 resolution try using 210 dpi, 80 quality and Standard Glossy Sharpening. When I used Matte High settings the image was clearly over-sharpened for screen viewing. Next try the ‘Export to PDF’ button and then ‘PDF Optimization’ in Acrobat Pro using 210 dpi downsample setting. It shouldn’t hurt to go slightly higher in dpi, but you don’t want to go lower than ‘Full Screen’ 1:1 pixel mapping.

  • Lightroom 5 book module trims pixels on JPEG and PDF export

I'm making a 12x12" book and want to export at 250dpi.  I'm expecting my pages to be square and exactly 3000x3000 pixles.  When I export to JPEG or PDF the pages are not square and JPEGs are 2968 x 3000.
I've seen the same question asked regarding LR4.  It appears to not have been fixed or addressed in LR5.
I'm not using Blurb to create books which I understand is the publisher that requires these odd sized pages and why LR exports pages this way.  Oddly, there is a special export for Blurb books; I wouldn't think that the generic JPEG and PDF exports should follow the Blurb standard.  Idealy, I want my JPEG exports to be two-page spreads at 6000 x 3000 pixels.  I can stitch together two pages in Photoshop easily enough, but not if the pages are not the correct size to begin with.
For now, I'll use LR5 to mock up a book and then re-create the whole thing manually in PS, which is really sad and such a waste of time given that LR is so close to being able to export exactly what I want.
Would love to see this fixed in an update soon.

These are both bugs that have been fixed since the LR4 beta. Thanks for bringing them up, though.

  • InDesign CS5.5 Problem - Crash during PDF export (Runtime Error)

    Hello,
I'm working with Adobe CS5.5 and have a problem with the PDF-export of some of my projects.
The problematic projects are rather big (44-124 pages) with lots of pictures.
The error I get during export is:
[Headline:] Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information
The program is not specified in the error.
Export works fine for these files on my collegues computer with the same settings (hardware and software are almost a match).
Microsoft Runtime Library was completely reinstalled without solving the problem.
Any suggestions how to solve this problem?
    Thank you very much

  • How to export book pdf using custom presets for all book files in indesign using javascript

How to export book pdf using custom presets for all book files in indesign using javascript.

    Hi jackkistens,
    Try the below js code.
Note: you can change your preset name in below (e.g, Your preset name).
    var myBook = app.activeBook;
    myBook.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File (myBook.filePath+"/"+myBook.name.replace(/\.indb/g, ".pdf")), false, "Your preset name", myBook.bookContents, "Book_PDF", false);
    example:
    var myBook = app.activeBook;
    myBook.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File (myBook.filePath+"/"+myBook.name.replace(/\.indb/g, ".pdf")), false, "[High Quality Print]", myBook.bookContents, "Book_PDF", false);

  • Linking between books for PDF export

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to go about setting up links between books in such a way that they'll export to PDF? Here's my scenario: I have two books (indb files with many indd files each). One of the books needs to link to text anchors I've set up in the other. However, linking between the files doesn't work because each book is exported as a single PDF. I had planned to merge the files of the book that is being linked to prior to creating the links, but no matter what I try, Move Pages causes reflow (and given the length and intricacy of the documents I'm sure it's not worth the time to try to fix the reflow; I'd be better off linking the PDF by hand).
Is this just not a possible workflow? I considered linking to a 'dummy' file that was named like my second book is named, but from what I can tell ID doesn't really export the text anchors in any usable fashion; you either get the links when you export or you can't massage them into being. Any advice would be appreciated.

This is an interesting suggestion, but I'm not sure how it would work. I've tried outputting one PDF from this combo-indb file and then extracting the pages out into separate PDFs, but the links are lost. I've also tried selecting just the files from each of the actual books within the combo-indb and exporting PDFs for each one, but in that case it assumes it's looking for an anchor within the same PDF. Did you have another approach in mind?

    Hi Guys,
The PDF Export button is not working on all client machines, when clicked it gives the error:
    Internal Error (-50) occured.
I have tried installing a PDF writer(printer) on one of the clients to see if this would help, but still the error displays.
    Any suggesstions will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Dario,
We solved this issue by installing bullzip printer on the client terminal.
Then from file --- Print and by selecting bullzip printer our problem got solved.
    hope this will help you.

  • PDF export from Pages fails "Print - error while printing"

Every month I have been generating PDF versions of my invoices by using the 'export' function of Pages. This has always worked fine without any problems.
Today (end of Feb 08), the pdf export function always fails with 'Print - error while printing". A pdf file is saved to disc but it is corrupted and unreadable. I can still export as rtfd.
I don't see anything about this in the logs, but I do notice that there was a Pages software update to 3.0.2 earlier this month.
Anybody know how to fix this?

    Hello
Before re-installing, it may be useful to
a - repair permissions with Disk Utility
    b - trash the preferences file: <bootVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.plis t
if it's not sufficient, try to print from an other user account.
If it works this way, you will know that the application's files are not the wrongdoers as every account calls the same application file.
