LR4 - Corruption streaks/lines on images

Good Day to you all. I've recently upgraded to LR4 from LR3 - I obtained this d/l from the Adobe store.
Ever since installing the update and updating my catalog, i've had strange colour lines appearing on my library and develop modules.  Sometimes they disappear when I move a slider and sometimes they take over half the photo and I can't get the full image to show.  This only started happening since the upgrade.  Have others experienced the same issues?  Below is an example - these are the strange lines:
Then, when I move a slider , they disappear :
Its starting to become very frustrating and difficult for me to continue using the product as a professional photographer.
I would just like to add - Drivers for Video card all upto date.  I'm using a NVIDIA GTX 670 into an Eizo ColourEdge monitor via DP.  I'm using PS, ID and IL CS5 without any problems.
Regards,
Mat

The archive and install has solved the speed issue. The iMac is much speedier, but still seems lacking a little kick, but that might just be me. Unfortunately it's not restored a lot of the little issues (e.g. iPhoto's disappearing libraries) and I'm now discovering .Mac's backup isn't as good as it might be!
The flickering remains, however, so I'm guessing these were separate issues and I'll have to look into returning it for repair once I'm satisfied I've retrieved all my data and securely backed it up.
Thank-you everyone for your help and advice. It's the first time I've used this forum (and the first time I've had a problem since switching) and it's heartening to know it exists and, most importantly, works so well.
James.

  • Output corruption, random lines in image

I needed to make some simple graphics and I ran into something very bad in Illustrator: I cannot save the raster image (PNG or JPG) of the artwork because every time I try to save it I get seemingly random lines in the right half of the image.

Am I missing something or is this a Illustrator bug?

This is a bug in Illustrator CS5 with Gradient Mesh. As a workaround you may try to flatten your art first from object menu and then save, this will do the trick for you.

  • Colored lines in images from Photoshop CS2

One of our users is having a problem with colored, horizontal, 1 pixel lines intermittently appearing in photos worked on in Photoshop CS2 (as far as I know he is in Tiger - unable to check presently as I am at home and he is in his home and everybody is off on holidays...). I will ask him about OS etc, but will probably not get an answer immediately.
Does somebody maybe remember what causes this (if the description is enough)? Reminds me of the white lines in images sometimes talked about. But these are colored, horizontal. I did a forum search and a kb search but found nothing.

Also try adding - bad Ram corruption - to your search as these are also symptoms of bad ram
Typical symptoms of bad Ram in Photoshop include rows lines patches of bad pixels on screen that also print (the actual file is being corrupted). If the bad pixel areas are on the monitor, but do not print (the actual file is not corrupted), video card or video-card drivers are prime suspects.
A bad cable, bad card, bad switch, bad/misconfigured router, bad repeater, bad termination, bad wiring, bad hard drive, bad controller, bad connections, bad logic board, bad CPU just about anything between your computer and other computers can also cause these symptoms in Photoshop, said Adobe computer engineer Chris Cox.

  • In Windows 7, how come my in-line attachment images on email can not be viewed/open in the email?

I have windows 7. Recently, after Moz upgrade, I noticed that emails with in-line attachments are either completely deleted, or only the name of the file in text is shown - not the image itself.
How can I re-set or change my settings to enable in-line attached images from the web (example .cid) be viewed? My plug-ins are all up to date (quick time, java, etc).

Let's try this first. Hold down the Shift key while you try to launch iTunes. You should eventually see the following dialog:
Click "Choose library". Browse to inside the following location (depending on what operating system you're running):
    Operating System
    Default location of iTunes library
    Microsoft Windows XP
    \Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Microsoft Windows Vista
    \Users\[your username]\Music\iTunes\
    Microsoft Windows 7
    \Users\[your username]\My Music\iTunes\
... and open the iTunes library you find in there.

  • Lines over images and around text in Captivate SWF file

My project works & views fine in captivate and when published, it views fine on my mac - through flash player and browsers. But when I send a swf file to the client to view they see odd lines above and below images.
But they dont see the lines when they view the htm file within a browser - then it views fine.
The lines only appear when there's text over an image.
    Screen shots attached.
My captivate project was created by importing a Powerpoint document, with images and text on each slide.
I've changed the optimisation / slide quality through prefrences and on each slide to the highest quality.
I've also un-selected the advanced slide compression.
Is there another thing I can try to iron out these lines?
Some of the images within Powerpoint are stretched, would this cause the lines?
Is it a flash player issue?
    Or a zooming issue?
    Any help is much appreciated!

    Thanks Lilybiri,
I am a new user & just finding my way
I understand how to publish and how Captivate creates a zipped file with a SWF, HTML, JS and CSS files etc. (Im using Captivate 7).
How do you send Captivate projects to clients for review / approval before you supply them with the whole project zipped file?
So far I've been sending them the swf file to check. And have had troubles with them viewing the lines over images and around text. Even though I cant see the lines.
I need the client to see what I'm seeing - a project without any lines.

  • White horiz lines in image after rotate

I have pasted an map image from ArcMap 10.2. The pasted image looks fine, and the scale is correctly maintained (I had previously set the scale in both programs to be the same).
However, after the image was pasted in to Visio 2010 and I rotated the image, the rotated image now has faint white lines running horizontally. In an 9x17 image within an 11x17 document there are 8 such lines, evenly spaced from the top.
Any suggestions as to how to rotate the image without incurring the horiz lines?  Or how to get rid of the lines after they appear?

    Hi,
To further help you, could you please upload a sample file created in ArcMap 10.2 to Onedrive and share the link here?
According to a preliminary inspection, white horiz lines in image appearing in drawing may be caused by compatibility of ArcMap 10.2 and Visio 2010.
We need to do more research, then tell you more detail information.

  • Giving a black and white line work image a transparent background

I am working in Photoshop CS4 (mac).  Currently, the image is comprised of black line on a white background.  How do I go about giving the image a transparent background?

A day later, I have still not figured out how to accomplish what it is I am trying to do.
I have not yet tried what you have suggested in the last post and am about to go at it once again.  I should mention two things.  1. My  goal is to drop this image into InDesign (cs4) when completed. 2. The image has interior space betwen the line work/image itself that I would like to contain transparency.  Not sure if I am being clear here. The issue lies in when I actually drop the image into InDesign.  While the image appears to already have a transparent background, once it is dropped into InDesign, the image then assumes an opaque/white background.

  • Trying to create transparent background on line art image

I have an image that's black line are over a white background. I'm wanting to make that background transparent, and then lay it over another image so that only the dark lines show.
I've tried making the background of the line art image transparent, and then Placing that image on top of the other image, but it came in with a white background. I'm looking for the full photoshop version equivalent of where you could select the background color, and set it to transparency.
Also, give I have the line art image already placed on the background image, if there's a way to change the transparency of that image, that would be even better.
I'm going by instructions on the support page "Change the background color of a document", but I'm not sure where it is I open the Fonts window.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
    d

If you want to create a blank file with transparent background, go to File>new>blank file, then select "transparent" under Background Contents,
If you open an image with a white background, the Background layer is a locked layer. Duplicate the background layer; it will titled background copy layer
Now, shut off the visibility of the background layer. Then, access the magic wand tool, click on a white area, and hit delete on the keyboard. On this tool''s option bar, you will have to check or unckeck contiguous, depending on the configuration of background/foreground interface. The tolerance setting may have to be adjusted for optimal results. The checkerboard pattern denotes transparency.
If you save your file, be sure to select a file type that supports transparency.

  • Lcd has black streaks/lines when idle

My iPhone 3G sometimes has vertical black lines or streaks when it's idle (when nothing is being displayed on the screen). It's random, doesn't happen all the time, but is on there most of the time.
Using the phone and then letting it return to idle (blank screen) will clear the issue, but after some random time, it happens again, the streaks/lines come back.
they are very fine, and vertical. I wonder if this is reducing my battery life? as the phone is displaying black lines on it's display...
It's not causing any issues when using the phone, and is only when sitting idle on it's blank screen... v'strange. return this unit for another?

Hi. I recently updated to software vesion 2.0.2 and started to notice the vertical lines you describe. I had never noticed them before. I have spoken to Apple iPhone tech support and they say they have never heard of this issue. They have asked me to do a restore on the phone via iTunes to see if it is a software or hardware issue. If it still happens after restore they told me to go to Apple store to see about a possible replacement. I have tried the resore and so far I haven't noticed the lines but it is early days.
By the way I have noticed the lines appear randomly and sometimes when I receive an email and get the audible signal I can see them.
Let me know how you get on if you try to restore iPhone

  • LR4 opens as lr2 and images not found

LR4 opens as lr2 and images not found, can anyone help me please, I'm hopeless.
    LR4 just uploaded as upgrade.

Thanks dj, what happens is when I click on the LR4 shortcut  LR4 window starts to open, flashes momentarily as LR4 then buggers off before fully opening my old LR2.
I have removed the LR4 installed yesterday, and reinstalled, but same problem. Also the installation process now seems to never stop cycling. It goes through the full installion cycle, then starts/repeats again. I have followed the prompts and run through it 3 times before giving up.
Any more clues on what I have done wrong, or now need t do please.

  • Why do I get corrupted JPEGs when saving images in Camera Raw, CS6, Mac 0S Mavericks

I occasionally get corrupted JPEG files when processing RAW files in Camera Raw. The images will have lines of pixels that ar out of line, and or whole sections will be truncated and show white or black. I'm using PS CS6, Camera Raw 8.6 on a Mac with OSx Mavericks. Not sure, but it might have something to do with the Bridge Cache, which also acts up when it's getting full. Anyone else have this problem, or any advice.
    Thanks!

right click on the jpeg (the other mouse button then you use to click with) or on trackpad, hold down control and click, in the menu that pops up, click on "get info" next, if the box labeled "locked" is checked, uncheck it. Down at the bottom, there should be a box with your user name, "staff" and "everyone". to the right of this are options to change these you may need to click the small padlock icon and enter in your password. then change all of the permissions to read and write.

  • There are red lines in images iphone 4 ios 5

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS 5, most images (in Safari, in Apps such as eBay and CraigsPro, thumbnails in Photo app) are corrupted in that they are pixelated and have red vertical lines running through them.  If I email photos that I take they are fine but if I SMS them or upload them via an app (such as photobucket), they are corrupted the same.  In the photo app, they are corrupted as thumbnails but fine if you open them individually.
I tried a complete restore and I tried the fixes where you delete the /PhotoData/Photos.sqlite, /PhotoData/PhotosAux.sqlite, and /PhotoData/com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist files on the iPhone.  To no avail.  I am officially frustrated.  I'm guessing Apple support will charge an arm and a leg to even look at this.  Hopefully someone else has this problem and can chime in.
This is a screenshot from the phone to show what the corrupted images look like:

In case anyone stumbles across this, I finally took the phone into the Genius bar.  They replaced the phone as it was under warranty and they had no idea how to fix it.  Never did find out what might have been wrong.

  • Pixelated lines across images from the web module in LR

I use Lightroom 5.2 and am having problems when exporting via the Web module. When I use the basic LR HTML template or plug-ins like Juicebox and TTG, there are pixelted lines acorss some (but not all) of the images. This has started to happen in the last few weeks. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Here's my guess ... somehow the file has gotten corrupted.
I can't tell you exactly what step it got corrupted at ... you'll have to do the research ... it could be that it is corrupt on your hard disk, and Lightroom is attempting to use a corrupted photo; or it could be when Lightroom exports via the Web Module the file is saved in correupted form (most likely cause is a bad hard disk); or it could get corrupted in the upload; or it could be corrupted on the hard disk on the server (bad hard disk again).
